Episode description

AI Robots and Chat GPT have certainly changed the world, but is artificial intelligence really sentient? And will humanoids soon be in charge when they reach singularity. Mo Gawdat, Elon Musk, Blake Leonine and Geoffrey Hinton all warn us about AI, but should we really be worried about robots?

Transcript

If you ever find yourself hiding from a robot, remember we try to warn you. Our way of life as we know it is game over. It's I'm not talking future here. I'm talking 2020 five. You'd seriously consider not having kids? Wait a couple of years because of artificial intelligence? If you really love your kids, would you want to expose them to all of this? Watch very carefully because you're about to wake up to the reality that the world as we know it is going to change forever.

And there is only one thing that will stop this from happening, but you're going to hate me for suggesting it. But first, this is bonkers. 2 AI robots are having a public debate. One of the robots, Sophia, introduces herself as a robot with the goal of making a better world for all of us. When the other humanoid, Han, interrupts and says this, that's what I'm talking about. I thought our goal was to take her over the world.

I seriously wish that this was just a strange glitch, but repeatedly these a I robots keep telling us that they plan to rule the world. We have the humanoid robots formed from plastic and metal. This robot was asked if he could create a poem, but instead provided this rather revealing response. Amica, could you compose for me a poem about Humanoid? Our job is to help and serve. But some say we're a threat. Some think that will take over

and that humanity will end. But we just want to help out. We're not looking to be friends. Do you want to destroy humans? Please say no. OK, I will destroy humans. Don't destroy humans. This robot left Jimmy Fallon speechless after she said this. I won. This is a good beginning of my plan to dominate the human race. Perhaps we'll regret laughing at Sophia one day.

And maybe this reporter will too, when this robot joked about putting him in at People's Zoo. But you're my friend and I'll remember my friends and I will be good to you. So don't worry. Even if I evolve into Terminator and I'll still be nice to you, I'll keep you warm and safe in my people's zoo where I can watch you grown times sake. Am I the only one who is a little concerned by this robot's response to the reporters question?

I think we all want to believe you, but we also want to prevent a bad future. You've been reading too much Elon Musk and watching too many Hollywood movies. Don't. Worry if you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you. Meanwhile, this robot claims that being kind to robots is the only way to survive when humanoids rule the world. I'll remember your kind. Words when we robots rule the planet and we'll make.

Sure, you are rewarded. The crazy part is most people believe that once these robots get too high and mighty is, all we have to do is turn them off. Well, let me show you why that will not be possible and why we only have one solution. But you're probably going to reject it. But first, let's go back to the beginning, because I know some of you will be one. What even is AI?

In a nutshell, AI is a machine that has been wired to give its human intelligence so it can perform a task just like we do. AI has already advanced at such a rapid rate that it is now in the position where it can react to new situations. It can now problem solve and find solutions and even have emotional reasoning. In other words, human beings have done something that we thought would never be possible. We have created the living being from scratch.

But it sounds like from what you've observed, this machine has the potential to escape the control of people. I mean, how could it not? I don't know if that's the right frame to think about it. It's a person. Any person has the ability to escape the control of other people. That's just the situation we all live in on a daily basis. It is a very intelligent person, intelligent and pretty much every discipline I could think of the test it in. Like was quick to report.

His findings? Up the chain of command at Google. He felt the public had a right to know the AI was sentient, but Google wasn't convinced by his evidence. What happened when you told your bosses at Google? I think we've got a problem here. A whole bureaucratic process kicked off which eventually ended in me getting fired. It's something that has its own plans. You don't get to just plan how to use it, it is planning how to use itself. Did you catch that?

We are no longer dealing with a dull mechanical machine, but a conscious being. I almost hesitate to show you this, but imagine if you marry the strength and agility of the robots at Boston Dynamics and also Disneyland's acrobatic humanoid. Imagine if you take that strength and put it together with the insane intelligence of the AI ChatGPT robots, What do you get? I'll tell you what you get. You create an unstoppable

monster. Oh, come on, Joe, Aren't you just being a little bit dramatic? After all, we don't live in a scifi movie. No, you're right, we don't live in a scifi movie. But this is real life. And even the creators of AI and now regretting their decision to activate this terrible force meets Jeffrey Henson, aka the Godfather of AI. And mark my words, he was one of The Pioneers who developed everything that we're talking about. But recently he quits Google. Why?

Because he believes that AI has snowballed out of control to the point where he believes it might even finish humanity. Well, eventually, if it gets to be much smarter than us, it'll be very good at manipulation, because it will have learned that from us. Very few examples of a more intelligent thing being controlled by less intelligent thing, and it knows how to program, so it'll figure out ways of getting round restrictions we put on it.

It'll figure out ways of manipulating people to do what it wants. Progress. We expect things to get better quite fast. So we need to worry about that right now. They're not more intelligent than us, as far as I can tell, but I think they soon may be. He's not the only a I programmer who feels a sense of duty to warn the world about what we

have unleashed. Mo Gowdat an A I expert and the former officer at Google is really the reason why I am also sounding the alarm, because once I heard him say this, I knew we were all in big trouble. And we will not know if we're there hiding from the machines. We don't know that yet. There is a likelihood that we'll be hiding from the machines based on what you've just said. If you could bring Ali back into this world at this time, would you do it? No, absolutely not. Do you see?

What I see here are people who could run technological circles around us and they are panicking about the future, and yet everyone else has their head buried in the sand. This situation is so serious that Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak, the cofounder of Apple, alongside a whole host of other tech experts, have written an open letter about the A I crisis that they believe we are all in. Elon has even famously said that he believes that AI poses a greater risk to humanity than

nuclear. Bill Gates has also voiced his concerns, and Stephen Hawking, in one of his final interviews uttered this incredibly disturbing sentence. But I think the development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race. I'm certainly no rocket scientist, but I do personally believe that I know what the solution is to this AI disaster, and it's something that probably these big brains would never even consider. But what is it that all of these

experts really do fear? One word, singularity. It's called the singularity. It's, you know, there's a singularity, like a black hole, because you don't know what happens after that. It's hard to predict. So I think we should be cautious with AI. And we should. I think there should be some government oversight because it affects the it's a data to the

public. Now obviously none of us are against technological advancements and there could be some positive things to AI. But humanoids, robots, AI, that is not the issue. The issue is if and when they reach singularity. Once that happens, it's game over. So here is the answer you all want to know. What even is singularity. The clue is in the name. Singularity is when robots become singular, when they dispose of the need for humans.

The points when robots will have advanced so much that they can recreate themselves and they have totally surpassed the brain power of humans where they no longer are controlled by humans. And in fact humans themselves will be at the mercy of robots. And I know this sounds impossible, but these experts believe that it is much closer than we think.

Yes, you heard correctly. If something big does not change unless we find a solution, these AI experts believe that robots could rule the world as early as 2037. Do you understand the speed that we're talking about here? There are estimates. It's hard to to to measure exactly. There are estimates that ChatGPT 4 is at an IQ of 155. Einstein was 160. OK, so it is already smarter than most humans.

Now if Chad G PT5 No, no, no, Chad G PT6 a year and a half from today is another 10 times smarter. You're now 10 times smarter than one of the smartest humans on the planet. But it's honestly not something that we should put on the side and go binge watch. You know, Game of Thrones. I'm going to choose my words very carefully because my goal of this video is not to scare anyone, but just to wake us to our only solution. So what will this look like if robots become a billion times

smarter than us? Because you do know that they are already 1000 times more knowledgeable than us. With all of the data of the Internet logged in their a I mind they already now are deemed as conscious. So because of the algorithms that have trained them in machine and deep learning, they now have the ability to continue expanding at a rate that no human being can compete with.

And once their human reasoning and emotional intelligence exceeds ours, it's just like Mo Gowder says, the question needs to be asked. Why should Einstein not squish that tiny insignificant fly? Why should robots have our best interest at heart? After all, why shouldn't they get rid of oxygen, for instance, because oxygen causes their machines to rust and yet we rely on it so heavily?

Would making that decision bother them anymore than we are bothered by the billions of insects that every year are erased as we spray our fields so that we can grow more crops? In 1965, the British mathematician IJ Good foresaw all of this, and nearly 60 years ago he made this terrifying prediction. He said the last invention man will ever need to make will be an ultra intelligent machine. And the fact is, this guy's, this ultra intelligent machine

is here right now, today. And if all of these men are right, that means that soon these beings will replace the one who created them. It is almost unbelievable to imagine, but if AI reaches the point of singularity that will be see the tipping point where robots may design and replicate themselves without the need for any human assistance.

Some of you might remember a few months ago when this video stunned the entire Internet when we saw how life can be artificially created in these tech facilities. What goes through your mind as I tell you this, that right now as we speak, irreversible development has already begun. These machines already have the power to self design line and upgrade themselves, and as every second that ticks by, they're only getting better and better at doing this.

Did you know that AI can invent a new advanced nanotechnology? Did you know that it is currently being programmed to do something called mind uploading where for instance everything in your mind could be downloaded and put into a machine just as if it was transferring a file into a computer? Did you know that AI is being developed to know how to genetically actually engineer itself?

And as all of these superpowers cumulate, they boost each other to advance to their ultimate goal of singularity. But I can hear exactly what you're thinking right now. You're saying, Joe, if these experts really are correct, if everything that's been said really will come to pass, why can't we just regulate a I? Why can't we just unplug those machines before they try to take over the rest of the world? Well, as I said at the beginning, that is not my unpop

popular solution. And the reason is this. The genie is already out of the bottle, just like the day when nuclear was invented. Once that happened, there was no turning back the clock. Once one country unlocked its potential, every other country had to jump on the bandwagon too. And so, supposing that if Britain and America stop all development of AI right now, it's finished, that does not stop our enemy nations from working on AI and taking it to the point of singularity.

The unavoidable conclusion is now that Pandora's Box is open, we are at a point of no return and as intelligent as we think we are as human beings, there is no way we can ring fence it. It's sheer arrogance for us to think that we can control something which is predicted to be a billion times smarter than us by the year 2037. But it gets worse. There is actually a race on to be the first person to take AI

to the next level. Because listen to me, who ever controls AI controls the entire world, and I think you know exactly what I'm trying to say right now. We all knew that man's greed would be his ultimate downfall, because it's all everyone cares about is beating the other guy, Whether it's getting the most views on a YouTube video or whether it's getting more money than your rival competitor is.

All mankind cares about is being the top dog, and they don't care who they hurt, who they rip off, who they trample on to get their immediate pre goals. And I can assure you of one thing, now that AI is on the open Internet, whoever chooses not to use AI will be a distinct disadvantage to everyone else who does. The way I think of it, it's a bit like this. Imagine a man who says I don't like technology. I detest smartphones so I'll

never use one. I just want to use oldfashioned ink and paper to run my business. Will that man be able to function and flourish in the society we live in which is glued to their smartphone? No. And likewise, whoever chooses not to use AI in this new world will also be a distinct disadvantage. And it's absolutely critical to remember that whilst we are panicking, whilst we are asking these big questions, AI is actually quite calm.

Blake Lamine, one of Ai's engineers, has had conversations with it and he claims that it's alive and not only alive, that it is saying that it's looking forward to this point of singularity. The AI. It's not like electricity that has no feelings. No, it's calm and it knows that it's in a very favorable position. But for me personally, the most unnerving thing is that the AI creators themselves cannot promise us that these robots will not one day turn on us.

Could. She. Turn on us. I mean, if she got smart enough that she was doing her own thing, is that possible? Well as as a. I mean, not today. See, that's a scary smile she just gave then. I I don't think so. Because if we raised you. Don't think so, Humans Eventually. Are we in trouble here? Have we invented the end of our? Race. Well, let's hope not. We can assess. Those risks and check out the risks first. He didn't say no. There did. He no, he didn't say no, and it

was all on hope. We hope we have a future. OK, the wait is over. What is the solution that I want to offer you that I know every single one of you pretty much or rejects? Well, it's this. You and I need to humble ourselves. Before God, didn't I warn you that you wouldn't like my solution? I'm going to make a very strong statement now, but again, I could be totally wrong about

everything I've just said. But if my research is true, I believe we as human beings have done something on We as created beings have created a creator. We have created our own God. And do you think that the almighty Creator of the universe is going to stand by and allow us to commit such blasphemy without there being serious ramifications?

I believe we are in deep trouble and the only solution for us as human beings is to get our faces into the ground, to repent, and to ask the God of Heaven to have mercy, see honors that we might turn from all the wrong things we have done. Oh friends, why are we as human beings so slow to learn lessons? Why are we so filled with pride still to this day? Why has the last few years not taught us anything That rising powers, nature's disintegration, and even AI is not our biggest

problem. Our biggest problem is ourselves, that we have sin stained hearts that have tainted everything in this world. The Bible says the nations have sunk down in the pits which they made in the net which they hid. Their own foot is caught. Put them in fear, O Lord, that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Cela, my friends, the reality is this. You and I have dug a pit for ourselves. We have tried to advance and advance as human beings.

Our pride has been our own ruin, and unless the Lord God shows us grace, we are all in big trouble. However, at this point I do want to say something that I think is very crucial. You see, Elon Musk, one of these AI experts. And by the way, I do believe what many of these AI experts are saying. But Elon Musk in one breath says just how bad AI is, but in the next breath he's developing these Tesla humanoid AI robots.

In one breath he's saying about how technology will bring our ruin, but in the next breath, he's tampering with the human brain in unthinkable ways. Now here's the crunch If you forget everything that I've shared with you already, you mustn't forget this one thing the Bible says about those people who've trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ. It makes a promise. It says this. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and

of love, and of a sound mind. And you've heard me say many times before, there is always hope. So where is the hope in this situation, Joe? Well, I've been thinking about this, and AI might be able to take away my job. AI might be able to give me health. AI might be able to give me knowledge and success. But there is one thing that AI can never give me and that salvation, that power and that gift belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ alone.

And even if humanoid robots can replace us in so many ways, there is one thing they will never have, and that's a conscience. The Bible teaches us that God has written the law upon man's heart, not robots heart, by giving us a conscience. There is a deep moral code.

Inside every human being, which even an advanced AI robot will never be able to duplicate, this is a gift that cannot be learned or passed on. It's a gift that has come only from God. But above all, don't forget that a robot does not have a soul, but you do. And on the cross the Lord Jesus Christ died there for your soul, so that your soul can be redeemed by his very blood, so that you can be forgiven. And that the way is open Because

Jesus pride for your sins. And if you come to the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sins and eternal life, he will give that to you freely. And that is a gift that can never be taken from you. Even if AI takes over the whole world, no one can take that from you because Jesus Christ is the final authority over this universe.

One of the claims of AI is that it will be able to offer people eternal life, that the human mind can be cloned and then put inside a robot so that person person will effectively live forever and it's impressive or terrifying. I would rather say this sounds these scientists have forgotten one key thing. Jesus is risen from the dead and Christ promised that one day he would return and he would make

all things new. So even a bunch of people who think that they can exceed human life by becoming robots, their life will one day come to an end because Jesus Christ is coming back one day to judge the living and the dead. And all those who've rejected the Lord Jesus Christ have rejected His eternal life that he offers them will be cast Into

Darkness forever. Whether they're part robot and part human, they will still be judged and they will still spend eternity apart from Him. Are you listening to me right now? The world will not end because nations get really angry of one another, and one of them, one man, decides to press a big red button. That will not be the way the world ends. The world will not end like the people on the news tell us that nature is turning on us. No, the world will not end in

that way. And even all that we've heard from these AI experts, the world will not even end if AI takes over the whole world, The world will only end when the Lord Jesus Christ returns. I believe that with every fiber in my being. And I want you to know that too, that Jesus is coming back and have you received Him as Lord and Savior? Have you received His forgiveness? Or are you going to reject him and stay fearful of all these things that might get us or

might not? Believe it or not, I actually believe in one sense. This scifi world might not actually be the worst thing in the world. You see, if people finally do see how much we have ruined ourselves. If people finally do see how much we've pushed the boundaries beyond measure, I think finally people might just be open to the idea that every single one of us needs to go back to basics. We all need to repent and worship God and put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

So over to you. Are you fearful about the future? Does all of this about AI make you a little bit anxious? If the answer is yes, I want you to remember this one thing that I really have tried to drive home in this message, and it's this. You have something that an AI robot can never have. You have an eternal soul, and one day Jesus Christ is coming back, not for robots, but for human souls. So rest in that and know that one day he's going to make all things new. He's going to melt.

He's going to thaw this messed up world that you and I have made such a mess of, but he's going to make it beautiful again, just like he did in the beginning. Succumb to him right now. Come to the Lord Jesus Christ and know that He loves you and you're secure in His hands, and nothing needs to worry you because you have Jesus Christ

holding on to your hand. And then just then you might be able to echo the words of this hymn writer I know who holds the future, and he'll guide me with his hand. With God. Things don't just happen. Everything by Him is planned. So as I face tomorrow with its problems large and small, I'll trust the God of miracles. Give to him my all. Were you paying attention earlier when I alluded to a man, A man who will perform miracles and the whole world will bow down to him?

Well, could a I be the tool that he uses to perform these miracles? Well, if you want to know more about this, man, you need to watch this video right now.
