Watch very carefully because this. £10. Note is you. At the beginning of the video, the note was worth 10 British pounds. Now it's been trodden on, now it's been swept around, and now it is covered in mud. So how much is it worth? Right now? It's still 10 lbs. My dear precious believer, you might have been trodden on, you might have been swept around, and people might even say that you are trash, but you still haven't lost your value in God's eyes. Why?
Because man looks at the outward appearance. But God. Looks. At the. Heart. But when you and me when I was 15, I watched a movie that left a lasting impression on me. It was called The Pursuit of Happiness, and it's based on a true story about a struggle of one single dad called Chris Gardner, who is played by Will Smith. Some of you are probably like me, and you think that you've had a tough day. But imagine this Chris's wife left him.
He could not pay his rent, so one night he and his young son had to sleep on a bathroom floor. So here Gardner is. He's got $21.00 to his name, but he has one opportunity to make something of his life. He has a job interview. At a. Prestigious stockbroker firm. But on the night of his interview, whilst he was painting his apartment, he got a knock on the door. This then led him to being kept overnight in an unfortunate situation.
His interview was the next day at 10:15 and so as you can see he had no time to change his clothes. Now hands down for me, this is the most powerful line in the entire A movie. Somehow Chris Gardner managed to make it to the interview on time, but when his potential employer looked down at his paint splattered outfit, he said Chris. What would? You say if a guy walked into an interview without a shirt on and I hired him. Chris paused.
For a few moments and said he must have had on some really nice pants. The interview panel let out a roar of laughter and amazingly, Gardner was hired. But what goes through your mind when you hear that? I'll tell you what I think. For once, these men weren't so quick to write someone off because of his appearance. They realized that it's what's on the inside that counts. Now I'm going to make a very strong statement, so you listen carefully. It doesn't matter what the world
says about you. It only matters what does. God. Say about you in the Bible, we read the most fascinating story of when God sent his prophet Samuel to a man called Jesse's house to find the next king. Once Samuel had looked at all seven of the young men lined up before him, He said, I think it's the oldest Eliab. Surely that is the Lord's anointed king. Now to everyone else, he was the obvious choice. He looked strong, tall, with a royal stature.
But God said that's not the man. In fact, he puts it even stronger. He said do not look at his appearance, at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees. The man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. Jesse at this point was a little confused, so he called yet again all of his sons to pass before Samuel. Samuel looked at one and said, no, that's not him. He looked at another, no, that's not him.
He looked at another 1/3, a fourth, a fifth, a 6th, a 7th. No, that's not him. None of them are him. Then he said, Is that all of your sons before me? Well, not exactly. Jesse said. The youngest David, he's actually out in the fields watching the sheep. The prophet said, OK, send for him. And so they went and got David. And what did Samuel see but a simple Ruddy shepherd boy? And the Lord said, arise, anoint him, for this is the one.
I imagine in his whole life David had been overlooked, ignored. But that doesn't matter because men might have looked at David and seen a simple shepherd boy, but when God looked at David, he saw a king. Here is the big question, what does God see when he looks at you? You might be the last to be picked in your sports team, but if you're washed in the blood of Christ, the Lord says the last shall be 1st and the 1st shall
be last. You might not be very strong and people look at you and say you'll never amount to anything, but if you're on the Lord's side, He will use you. Why? Because God uses the weak things of this world to confound the mighty. You might think that you're not pretty enough. Perhaps you've. Even been teased about the way you look. Well if you remember one thing, remember this. It doesn't matter what anyone says about you because you are beautiful to God.
You are made in his image. You might be insignificant, significant, unemployed or boring to everyone in your town, but if you are a Christian, you have unimaginable value. You are clothed in the riches of the Lord Jesus Christ and you are a son of the Most High. You are a daughter of the King. Oh. My dear friend, if you read the Bible from beginning to end, you will really see that man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.
Do you remember Gideon, who was the least in all the clans and yet God said to him, You are a mighty man of valor? Do you remember Moses, the guy who struggled to speak normally and God made him into one of the world's most powerful leaders? Then there was that unknown girl from Nazareth. Mary wasn't a queen. She wasn't a noble. Woman. And yet. God chose her to be the mother of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of
the world. The fact is this our Vas God, who is so big that the universe cannot contain him, He cares about the small things of the world. He cares about small people like you and like me. What do you think when I tell? You that that here is this God who cares about the widow's mite. He sees a huge banquet when men just see 5 loaves and two fishes. He sees a Kingdom when we see just a tiny mustard seed. And this is the God who is prepared. To leave the 90. 9:00 to go after. One little.
Sheep, is that the God you worship? Because as encouraging as this message is, I am going to have to change gears a little. If you are one of those people who refuses to humble yourself before this great big God who thinks that you are OK on your own and believes that you are going to heaven because you are a good person. My dear friend, if that's you, never forget the words of the Lord Jesus Christ. He said no man is good. Do you remember the £10 note that I showed you at the
beginning? This was legit money. But supposing it was fake, it doesn't matter how clean or how crisp it looks, it has zero value. OK, now please don't misunderstand me when I say this. Everyone who can hear my voice, everyone in this world has value, has worth, has purpose and meaning because God created you perfectly and he put you on
this earth for a reason. But when it comes to heaven's economy, if you haven't come to the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ, if you haven't asked for your debt of sin to be transferred into his account and for His perfect track record of righteousness to be transferred into your account, unless you've actually done that, the harsh reality is you are spiritually bankrupt. You might go to church, you might sing in the choir, you might look like a Christian.
But if you have rejected the Lord Jesus Christ, even though your outward appearance looks great, God sees your heart. So please, please, whoever you are, if you haven't asked Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour, if you haven't asked Him to wash away your sins with His very blood and give you eternal life because He rose from the dead, do it now. It's really not that complicated. It's so easy that even a little one could do it. So please tell him right now that you are a Sinner who needs
to be saved. You need to be saved by the Son of God, and you need to ask Him right now to have mercy on you. And if you ask Him with all sincerity in your heart, he will save you. OK, two quick things before we part ways. The first thing is this. For anyone concerned, my £10 note is absolutely fine. He'll tell you himself he's completely OK. UK money has become invincible. Right now it's basically plastic. And lastly, I am.
