Episode description

Nicholas Brenes is a passionate student on the verge of finishing his Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management. As part of his studies, Nicholas has undertaken two honours’ theses on the analysis of ‘emerging contaminants’ in the waterways of Brisbane (in Queensland, Australia), including PFAS and microplastics. PFAS has been the subject of significant public concern, media attention and legal proceedings – and that’s just one of the contaminants discussed in this chat with Nicholas. This conversation extends over three (approximately 30-minute) parts, as there is a LOT to talk about in this alarming and informative discussion.
