All right, welcome to the Ocean Water Podcast. This is the voice for indigenous water rights. We're going to talk a little bit about that later. I'm here today with my good friend Bobby Ramsey. I want to give kind of a professional introduction to him and then also kind of a personal note. So Bobby was in law enforcement for 30 years. The last role that he had was he was the chief of police in the city of Fontana.
What that meant was that he oversaw about 300 law enforcement people that directly reported to him. He also oversaw a budget of about $50 million for the department. Bobby lives here in San Clemente. He's also a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. So Bobby's learned just a lot of things. And then on a personal note, Bobby's one of my best friends. There's a crew of us, Brett and Brad and myself and Bobby that surf together all the time when the waves are good.
Adam Watts is a Thursday Friday guy because he works out 40 hours a week. But that's kind of our crew of guys that we surf with. So thanks for being here, bro. Thank you so much. So stoked to be here. All right, so to open up, what's your favorite place to eat out here in town, kind of one of your go-tos? And then what do you order? That's a very, very hard question because I have so many favorites here in town. I'll give a couple, well, I'll give a little list so people can kind of get an idea.
So like my favorite go-to place is probably Brick. So I like to walk over to Brick and then they make an awesome Caesar salad and their meatballs are pretty on point. So Brick is great. I love Brick. That seems like pretty friendly and healthy. Like if I want to get a little bit dirty, then I will go to like MRK and they have a fried chicken sandwich that's off-chain. So I like that. The Brussels sprouts there are really, really good.
This whole COVID thing's kind of got me down right now because I can't go. Yeah, everybody's over it. Yeah, you know, you can get takeout, but it's not the same because for me, the experience and the thing that I love about this town are the people are so amazing. So to sit down and to, you know, it seems like I have friends at so many good restaurants here in town. So, but those are some of my, a couple of my favorites.
Well, dude, you did mention that you walked to your house from, so Bobby lives over on the west side of the 5 freeway. Everyone knows there's two San Clemente's. So thanks for coming and visiting us peasants over here on the east side. This is actually like the Gucci side over here because you guys have, you know, you guys have it all. You got trees and all kinds of, you know, greenery and a golf course and stuff over here. Yeah, it's nice, dude. It's nice. It's it right here. All right, dude.
So what are you doing these days? What are you, what do you got going on? I'm out of work right now. I always tell people I'm an unemployed surfer. So and not that I'm even a good surfer. Is that just I'm not working. And that's kind of a joke. I retired. God has blessed me more than I could ever even begin to explain. So I am retired, but for to keep myself busy, I work with Ocean Water, which, you know, I'm a huge supporter of.
And then I also work with another nonprofit that deals with human trafficking. So the I five Freedom Network. I was on the Boys and Girls Club for a lot of years and I still am still a board member for the city of Fontana. So, you know, my life has been service, serving others. And that's kind of that's where my heart is, honestly. So.
