Ryan Wesley Routh is believed to have hidden in bushes with a rifle when Trump was golfing in West Palm Beach, Florida. Vice President Kamala Harris said she was deeply disturbed by the possible assassination attempt and condemned political violence. Trump, meanwhile, said political rhetoric by Harris and President Joe Biden may have influenced the suspect.
Chinese-owned social media platform Tiktok and the Justice Department presented their oral arguments before a federal appeals court. The judges appeared skeptical of TikTok's arguments against a law that could potentially ban the app in the United States.
The U.S. Coast Guard began a two-week hearing that investigates the deep ocean implosion of the Titan submersible in June of last year. The first witness to testify was OceanGate's former engineering director. He said he felt pressured by the company to get the vessel ready.
