I'm loving that Penrith have this challenge because if they were just if they were four and five and oh, we've been there, done that, and I bet at some point and you know this is a player they would relish that this new challenge, this is a new challenge for them.

If you line that side Nick that we just saw earlier in the exiles up against this current side, I think there's an argument that the Blake Silver all walked out the door probably win that game. I think it's hard to maintain though, And every year again when we've done the preview, we think, how can they stay up?
How can they have that desire to.
Turn up every week and put the performance as they do in back to back seasons, not just back to back weeks, and still have that desire to win another premiership. And they always say, well, there's guys in our team who have won ap premiership. We want them to experience that. But how long can that last?
Tell me about the time, I don't go make it. You know all about the old days, but dogs, So two thousand and two, romping away with the salary cap. Two thousand and three got closed, two thousand and four you win it. What is two thousand and five like? Because didn't the fall on a heap.
Yeah, we had a lot of injuries that year, which was the real reason, because we still kept the majority of our squad. But after five then they slowly slowly lost players, you know, and that's hard. And then the dogs still they were competitive. They got to a pre lim at one point, I believe, but it's very hard.
So the shock about Penrith is not that this is happening now.
It has taken this long for this to happen. It's four premierships.
We expected this last year, We expected this the year before the year before that, because it's always happened. Until the roosters a few years ago, no one could win two in a row.
And look at all the guys that were on the screen that left. Major of them had their best seasons in their final year, so they are able to lift it to know there was an end point for him. They don't really have that this year because the nucleus of the side is contracted this year and beyond.
Yeah, I don't think this week's a season defining game at all. But with Edwards back in, I think we'll get a better indication of exactly where they really are at and if it's a major concern or not.

Just addressed the media in Brisbane with a bit to say on prize recruit Blaze Telungey finally getting a start in the halves.

What makes you think he's ready for it now?
Yeah, well, you know there's reasons for everything we do, so I would say it's exciting. You know, we've got a lot of hope for Blazer is a great kid, very very talented, and you know he's going to be a really good player.

But it's exciting I think for our team, and I might just be a little spark that you know that's not going to that's consture.
This one's been a bit of a mystery to me. The Blakes a Lungey situation. I'll come to you. Blaze signed from Paramount. Australian schoolboy, talked up as a half five and as a five eight, very talented, only played one game this year. The game he played, he come off the bench after Cleary went off within ten minutes with that head injury. They nearly won the game with him on the field. He ran for nearly fifty meters, made twenty something tackles, only missed one, come up with
a triassist, and it's his only game. Why have they resisted playing him more often than what they had.
It was a surprise after that performance because you thought that he showed enough to be the potential halves partner
going forward for Nathan Cleary. But you know speaking to people in and around Penrith, and you know he had a delayed preseason because he was coming back from a shoulder injury and they just thought that maybe the footy education wasn't up to scratch for what they needed from their offense and an understanding of the way that Penrith wanted to play, so that because they play the same structures in reserve grade, they thought it was best case for him to go down and learn instead of being
thrown in the deep end.
He marked his drome replacement.
And be differently right, I think the best way that learns in the.
Top grade for one, but also he's got X factor and he's got Cleary, Isaiao and Edwards in the spine with him and Mitch Kenny, so he can go. He doesn't have all the pressure on Him's actually got less pressure. With those guys around him, he can make his mistakes and learn from those mistakes.
It's still the comparisons that are going to be there to Jerome, right, So I think for sure there will be natural comparisons right away. Comparison well compared to it. Of course, there would be breath. Whenever someone replaces a high profile play. The first thing is to go or lor he have done in that situation, right, So I think the ability to get him out of the sportlight
to allow him to learn his game a little. He's still a kid, right, so instead of throwing him deep end eighteen nineteen Hold.

I'm not crucifying, because everyone's got their reasons and everyone four comps in row, so I'm not you know, but it was a bit bizarre. It's good to get that information as to why that.

Also that they have to twelve.
Hundred and fifteen hundred corporates improving dressing rooms, women's facilities, a whole range of different things that they need to be locked in. At the end of the day, though, the only thing we may not be able to do is play out of Campbelltown. It's as simple as that. But just over her knows we want to do it. But if we can't do it, we do have a plan B and we will enact the Plan B after thirty to June, and it won't have a direct effect on you as fans.
Tiger's CEOs Stadium threat says that they won't play at Campbelltown unless there's an upgrade.

We don't have a platform for our indigenous players to play at a higher representative level. And we saw last year at the World Cup in the men's Cody Walker, Latrell Mitchell josh Ada Cup. We need to find a platform for our players to perform at the highest level.
I keep pushing the barrow of the Pacific Cup. I think that we should have a team in the Pacific Cup men's and women's that play and I guarantee you we will bring a lot of flavor, will bring a lot of challenges out to those top teams in it.
It will make it a better proc because as we see with that Pacific Cup, you've probably got two maybe three teams. You throw an indigenous team into the mix there, I guarantee you it's going to create a full team that's going to be really competitive, if not win that. If they're performing at that level, then they maybe look and say, look, look how good they played the Pacific Cup. We'll keep an item for original or look to push them in that representative space.
Kangaroos coach Meninga has responded on calls for this indigenous team. For me, there is no reason why we can't celebrate our history and our heritage, but at some stage we have got to make a decision.
Are we Australians first?
That doesn't disrespect First Nations people because they play a really important part in our history but also a really important.
Part in our game.
You know, I have got you know, I've got an Australian South Sea Islander background, but all my cousins are First Nations people's. But I take the view that we are Australians first.

So obviously last night, these two indigenous ex players have come out and said that there could be a possibility of having an Aboriginal team thoughts.
I don't like it. I don't like it.
I think Mal sums it up beautifully, particularly this last line. But I take the view that we're Australians first, and that's the way I look at it. I'd hate to see a time when we have an Indigenous side playing against an Australian side, because they should all be under that one banner. The opportunity to showcase themselves obviously happens week to week in the NRL, and of course the All Stars Game, which is such a big concept which has just grown in the game.
So yeah, I don't like it at all.
Can't work, broth can't work because what happens the initial idea actually I find intriguing. Right, So we've got this year the opportunity to do it because Australia is off to the UK, which means they're not part of the Pacific Championship, and you've gotta have some O Tongue and New Zealand indigenous.

I think that's you'd get some really good quality footy out of that. What does Latrell Mitchell do now, He's either going to be he's in a nine win situation if he picks the Indigenous side. He says, I'm going to play for us, and now he's on Australia and he's going to get hammered.

Oh, look, I can understand why Indigenous players might want to discuss it and air it on a platform and have people have a look at it. But I think Mail and it was a great work by Paul Crawley to get straight to Mail and ask him for his take on it. Mail's the best qualified to speak about
it as the current Australian coach. And to me, you look at all the champion Indigenous players that have worn the green and gold Arthur boots and was the first Indigenous Australian captain in any sport all the way back in nineteen seventy. That's more than fifty years ago. There's so much history and there's so much heritage already in that jump of the locks of Gordon Tallis, Steve Ranoff, Greg England, Jonathan Thurston, They've all proudly worn that jumper.
I know firsthand how hard Melmenting works on celebrating not just indigenous cultures but all cultures, because everybody comes from different background inside the Green and Gold dressing room, and I know how hard Mal works in that space to make everybody feel welcome, united and together. So I think it's a tricky one.

I understand, and I understand why those players would want to do that and represent their culture and the heritage, just like the Samoans and Vgians and everyone. Right at the moment, the concern for me would be it just doesn't feel right Australia playing verse an Aboriginal team. It's sort of you know, with the Combati sport and in any code anywhere around the world, when you get to a high level, it's us first then, you know, And
I don't think it should be us first. Then I think it's it can cause divide and division, and I don't think it's it's really yeah, I don't think it like I don't the potential of that you.
Can't have the potential of one of those parties. The Australian team was the Indigenous team being booed on Australian soil, and that that helps nobody in saying that can't work. But it's interesting thought idea because they'd put the cloners through some will when they made Scotland employees France ployees.

They'd be a great team. It'd be a great team.
