Episode description

Welcome to Now That’s Art.

Thank you so much for tuning in.

It means the world to me.

So what’s this all about?

As long as I could remember, deep down, there has been something unsure of my place and purpose. An unknown longing for self-understanding. I didn’t realize, couldn’t really comprehend, all that I didn’t know.

Being from a small town in Georgia then moving to NYC, I focused on protecting what I knew as sacred and didn’t want to go explore beyond that.

I took a seemingly benign trip to Rome and Paris. This trip set the stage for my most dramatic existential upheaval. Pre mid-life crisis. What I saw and experienced in Europe changed me forever in the most fundamental way. As I looked at the expansive ceilings of history, the ancient sculpture and statues, they seemed to reach a part of me that hadn’t been seen before.

Showing me their years and guiding me to the understanding that I truly know nothing.

Walking amongst the artwork and indelible marks of people long gone inspired a change in me and brought clarity as I’ve never had before. I saw before me history, creation, and purpose. I saw that everything is art and we are all the artists.

I entered that sweet but arbitrary vacation a well-meaning person and I left a man with a spark of curiosity I haven’t felt in a while. That need has brought me here, to the only place that makes sense. A place to ask questions, to quench my thirst to know and learn from other people.

Which I’m calling, Now, that’s art.
