[poem] life is a lie, so it is said

Life is a lie, so it's said From the moment we're born, lies are fed We're told what to do, what not to do And what to believe in, what's true

We swim in lies, half-truths and deceit It's all around us, it's hard to beat We're conditioned to believe what we're told And the lies become truths as we grow old

Our friends, family, and society All contribute to this grand lie's variety No ill intent, it's just the way it is Lies become our environment, that's the biz

But what is the cause of our lies? Is it because of our evil or bad ties? No, it's just the wrong choices we make And the lies we're fed, we can't shake

Even the pursuit of truth is a lie Based on false premises, we can't deny Nothing is what it seems to be What we think we know is just society's debris

Does this mean we should walk away? Or that society we should betray? No, it's just the truth, a fact of life That we should embrace, without strife

Greatness can be attained, that's for sure But it's not just talent, it's much more Nature, DNA, and a desire to lead Are what makes greatness, succeed

And what about happiness, you say? Is it real or just a myth, every day? If it exists, it's hard to find For happiness is a state of mind

Life is a lie, happiness is a myth But we can still live, and not be miffed Embrace the truth, and make our own way And who knows, we may find happiness one day.
