Episode description

Welcome back to another episode! Today is a little different with Brendi as the only host, but we have a guest, Daviana Fraser to talk about the Black Lives Matter organization and movement, protests, and how to be an ally. Daviana is a graduate student at UNCC obtaining her Master’s in Communication Studies and focuses on the Black experience through empowerment and resistance in her research. We dive into what changes have occurred in George Floyd & Breonna Taylor’s cases, how Black Lives Matter got started, what it’s like to be a Black student at a PWI (predominantly white institution), and performative vs genuine allyship.
