The OG of dragon stories and science fiction (yes, it's both), Anne McCaffrey wrote Dragonflight almost 60 years ago. If you're a Fourth Wing fan, you'll recognize many (sometimes alarmingly so) similarities between this book and its modern counterpart. Our heroine, Lessa, is gritty, clever, and ruthless - the only issue is we didn't get enough of her. A perspective switch a third of the way through the plot hijacks what could've been a solid romantasy story.
