You've heard of Polynesians carrying eight suitcases at the airport and Kenyans running for miles, but have you ever wondered about the diversity of body types and strength across cultures? Well, we've got a treat for you. We dive into a fascinating conversation about our high school experiences, the seemingly superhuman strength of some people, and the varying body types across differing cultures. We'll have you reminiscing about that high school prom and the Polynesian girl who threw the discus.

Moving on, we unpack the enigma that is the music industry. Ever wonder how Rihanna and Mandy Moore make money off streaming platforms? Or what the deal is with licensing beats and copyright issues? We've got you covered. We'll also give our take on a hotly debated topic: who sings a song better - the original artist or the one who samples it? Artists like Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, and others are up for discussion. We even go on a little detour to talk about Taylor Swift's impressive concert sales and the fanbases of other top artists.

Finally, we shift gears to the financial and societal implications of having children. We discuss the high costs of child support and the impact of having children on personal finances. We touch upon the challenges faced by vegetarian children and outdated government systems, and how these can have far-reaching implications on society. To keep things light and fun, we also discuss the documentary 'The Blackening' and the horror movie 'Stretch Somebody', reminding everyone to kick back and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. So, sit back and enjoy this whirlwind of discussions, debates, and stories in this episode of Nobody's Talking.

Speaker 1

I guess crazy not having to hit all them buttons now .

Speaker 2

I gotta clean it up huh .

Speaker 1

Welcome back to the Nobody's Talking podcast . We are a trio today . This is your boy , Bosco . I'm just going to introduce myself while the crowd is still clapping for me . I'm on the ground and then sitting next to me .

Speaker 3

Good evening slaves .

Speaker 1

You said good evening . No rodeo , joe . I don't think Joe will be here for the next couple of weeks . I think that's what he told me . He's out of town . The next couple , vegas is coming . I forgot you got to introduce yourself .

Speaker 2

You know who it is , Silky . I'm a big fan of the squad . Yeah , now Vegas is coming .

Speaker 1

We got about a month . Everybody better get their push-ups in . I did squats last night , probably a week and a half , maybe Almost two weeks . I'm feeling it already . I did . I only did three sets . I'm afraid to do them . I did three sets . I was going to do another set of ten . I got the six . I'm done . Exactly Done , absolutely . There's no PRs .

You already know in your mind . You might as well just go in and suffer the consequences Now , when Sunday comes and my legs are done , when we're hooping , hopefully , I should be .

Speaker 2

alright , I'm going to squat next week your knees still messed up .

Speaker 3

My knees feel like they're going to give out . Every time I'm always scared .

Speaker 1

I'm going to be squatting and then just it's going to be over , steve said the same thing .

Speaker 2

I actually love squatting my knees .

Speaker 1

I don't , I do it . I don't care , but I'm just saying I don't like doing it . I like it . It's difficult , throw me under the bench . Throw me under the bench , but I mean , I squat because , Y'all guys got big legs already though .

Speaker 2

Squat is the best exercise you can do .

Speaker 1

They say it doesn't like boost your testosterone and all that stuff .

Speaker 2

Everything , everything . It's basically a full body workout .

Speaker 1

You know it is good , but it is . At some point though you can be throwing all that weight . You start getting up in your 35 , 40 and you know you're not that avid . You know , even when you watch some of them , them cats don't even be squatting like that .

I mean I know you see Nick Chubb for the Browns just put out like 6th honey , him and Saquon , yeah , that's ridiculous . That's ridiculous . Hey , I was listening to TJ TJ Hushmanizala right and who showed ? I don't know if he was on . I think he might have been on Colin Cowherd .

He was on one of them shows and they was asking him , Like what's the craziest thing you seen in a weight room ? He said one of the Polynesian cats was doing reverse grip bench 405 . That's Polynesian . Hawaiian dude is strong as hell , reverse grip dog . I mean hey , yeah , yeah , hey y'all .

Speaker 3

Well , obviously , you know , reverse grip means your palms are facing away from you , they're not facing .

Speaker 1

like you know , when you land down on the bench and you're looking at the back of your hands , you're looking at your fingers , you like you about to do a curl . Yeah , pretty much .

Speaker 2

Let me ask you this Every time you lined up against someone Polynesian , Hawaiian , whatever Did they ?

Speaker 1

have like that extra strength , you could just see man those things .

Speaker 2

Yeah , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

No , that is true , at least for the most part , because there's a lot of times by me being out wide .

Speaker 2

Yeah , you know , a lot of things was down in the trenches .

Speaker 1

But you still had some .

Speaker 2

Isn't Troy , troy , paulamalus and our dude safety Exactly Damn . It's going to come to me , so I mean . So I know there's still some now .

Speaker 1

Yeah . So , man , you see , troy , you like , yeah , man .

Speaker 2

They're just naturally big though .

Speaker 1

Yeah y'all , yeah they are they , they , thick man , you see some of them cats . Let's just say , when you're walking through the airport and just watch some of the ones that work and some of them Polynesians man , those cats be carrying like eight , nine suitcases .

You like goodness , you're going to probably pick the plank , pick up the whole plank and turn it around , and that is that . That's wild .

Speaker 2

So isn't it crazy though you think about people right , so you think about Polynesians and , naturally , bigger , stronger people Right right , right , then you look at Asians who are thin . Isn't that crazy . How body you know . How do people's bodies evolve over time ?

Speaker 1

I want to know how the Hellum Kenyans can run for like 20,000 miles .

Speaker 2

For real , they train , they train like crazy .

Speaker 1

Now that is , that is crazy , because everybody do . You know you have different body types . You got slim builds , medium builds , like you know , larger , thicker cats , and then you just like man , but , like you said , the Polynesians .

Speaker 2

Not every one of them , I mean you got some skinny ones , but most of my cities just do yeah do . I know most of them . I took a Polynesian girl to prom , oh did you .

Speaker 3

She was in her year .

Speaker 1

But she had thick arms , she was athletic . Yeah , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 2

She wasn't tiny , but she wasn't , she was just yeah no , she's .

Speaker 1

Polynesian , she's thick arms yeah . I bet . Did she throw discus ? Or the shot put her anything ? I think she threw the discus . Yeah , shout out to all the Polynesians . Yeah , now that's Sterling . You remember your prom ? Did you go to prom ? You went to two .

Speaker 3

Julian's senior year , I guess .

Speaker 1

With the same person . Here we go , taking over for Joe . Give us the story .

Speaker 3

My junior year I went with the girl . I like my senior year I went with the girl just because she was black and I wanted to go with the girl that was black .

Speaker 1

Oh so the junior year you went with the white chick .

Speaker 3

No , she was half black , half Asian .

Speaker 1

Oh , okay , she was blazing , so you went with the woman of color .

Speaker 3

Yeah .

Speaker 1

And senior year you .

Speaker 3

I wish I would have dated some white girl back in . I don't know what my issue was . I wasn't hurting that , I was , just you wasn't on it . It was weird because , like I said , my high school was like 98% white .

Speaker 1

Oh , no , ours was . Ours was 98% white , but it wasn't even , I think , three black people graduated my graduating class . Yeah , we had maybe Well known for .

Speaker 3

Five .

Speaker 1

We might have been like .

Speaker 3

We had a private school .

Speaker 1

It was like 545 . Like total In an entire school 545 . Oh , that's it . Wow , that's small , our school was similar .

Speaker 2

I think we only had about 1200 .

Speaker 1

Like in the whole school , in the whole school .

Speaker 2

So my graduating class .

Speaker 3

Meanwhile , the school I was going to was in Chicago 2000 , something .

Speaker 1

Yeah , the public school I went to it was probably like a thousand or eleven hundred yeah .

Speaker 2

Well , it was funny because I took my son to his freshman orientation . He started school next week , so you , know he was going to have about 500 . In his class , in his class .

Speaker 1

Right , yeah , we went to . We went to Sonia's , her nephew's , graduation . I think it was like 500 . It was like 500 something people . They were ready to fall asleep .

Speaker 2

In his graduation .

Speaker 1

Hey , I now will admit this it didn't go . It went pretty fast .

Speaker 3

I think we had to . You gotta really be on it , because in Texas we were going , they called it graduating season , we were going to the schools in Texas and they I'm talking about 700 .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , like all them schools in Texas , yeah , Like .

Speaker 3

God damn .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 3

Like we gonna be in here for 10 hours , but it went kinda fast , yeah , yeah , yeah , they got a system .

Speaker 1

I'm sure you go .

Speaker 3

We gonna go like this don't do nothing , because at the one school they would just call like five names in the row boom , boom , boom , boom , hand , hand , hand .

Speaker 1

And then you just go , Boom , boom , boom , boom hand .

Speaker 3

So I'm like damn .

Speaker 1

Yeah , it did .

Speaker 2

It's like an assembly line , yeah it went pretty smooth , though Some of the schools across town I know in Chandler they got thousand kids- oh yeah , like in the class . We got 4,000 students , students , yeah .

Speaker 1

Hamilton , Cause I know right here it's 3,000 , now 3,000 . And this one probably end up being more as soon as they finish .

Speaker 3

My step daughter went to across sees her chavez , and they was at 2,900 . 2,900 . Yeah , oh my .

Speaker 1

God damn , all these schools are big . I mean the small schools out here .

Speaker 3

And then Betty Fairfax , right down the street . I mean , did they have ?

Speaker 1

Yeah , see , and that's like our public schools , a big school which would be like division one . Well , for us , you know , division one , they are the top divisions . They had about 1,000 , like 1,200 . 1,200 , okay , there's a couple of schools like in the suburbs I'm just going inner city like the public .

Akron public schools there's a few had about 1,000 , a little bit over To me that was big . So living out here in Sydney schools and Hamilton or some schools in Texas , we're like 4,000 kids and you're like goodness gracious .

Speaker 3

These schools are , so they're different . Cause they so big , cause they so spread out .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 3

They got like real life campuses , uh-huh , yeah , that'd be different .

Speaker 2

I'm like damn , Ah yeah , these campuses , I've designed a few of them , I know in Chandler . It's ridiculous , ridiculous .

Speaker 1

All right if they putting any new ones up .

Speaker 2

High schools , not in Chandler , it's in elementary schools . They need to start planning up here .

Speaker 1

Oh listen , I know stuff like over there by the 303 . It's gonna be ridiculous Prize and and it's getting real crazy out there , man , Getting real , real crazy . Now check this out .

Taylor Swift and Concert Sales

Let's talk about Taylor Swift . Who heard about this chick doing six concerts in LA , 80,000 people .

Speaker 2

All sold out .

Speaker 1

All sold out Six nights . Now , this is not , trust me , this ain't a shot . This is kudos . No , yeah , no . This is honestly kudos . Amazing , like what in the I mean that chick has is she the most popular ?

Speaker 2

I mean she would have to be , I mean her . Beyonce it's probably her Beyonce ain't doing no , nothing .

Speaker 1

It's her and Beyonce . Beyonce ain't doing no nothing .

Speaker 3

Beyonce's selling out . Still she's selling out Stadium's just bad . No , she's , yeah , she is . She's sold out . Mad life two nights in a row .

Speaker 1

But you know what ? Because they said the same thing , they said like Ed Sheeran is doing the same thing , it's just she's just doing it like back to back to back , oh , okay .

Speaker 3

You got to think of it like this Most artists can't sell out a football ring period anyway . Yeah , that's true . So most of them can't do that . Beyonce can do it , and then , like , obviously , taylor Swift can do it . Most mainstream white artists . That's real big , they can always .

Speaker 1

Like NSYNC and by Backstreet Boys .

Speaker 3

Beyonce probably . I mean I can't think of another black artist . That's like it's been a sell out .

Speaker 1

Drake .

Speaker 3

Football stadium Drake .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , beyonce Drake .

Speaker 2

I mean Jason and then Hove .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 3

But then after that , I don't know , I think maybe Kendrick could Kendrick , maybe Kendrick . I think Kendrick more of a like he do good at festivals Because with Kendrick everybody likes Kendrick , Everybody can acknowledge that he's like .

Speaker 1

One of the top .

Speaker 3

The top in the game .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 2

But to come out you gotta .

Speaker 3

You know he got a certain kind of fan base .

Speaker 2

How about Travis Scott ?

Speaker 3

Travis got like . He got a crazy fan base too , Like some people that you know Some of my life super , super familiar . See some people you wouldn't think about it , but they fan bases . Be like rabbit , like think about it . Like this , like Nicki Minaj fan base . They talk a lot but they don't .

Speaker 1

They really don't . It's really much money . Hey , you know ? Hey , they were saying the same thing with Rihanna . They say her music everything does well , but they say when she has concerts it's not Doesn't do it . No , not like them numbers , you know . Not like you know , I guess Beyonce or Taylor Swift . And once again , we don't fact check .

Speaker 3

I'm just going off of what I heard At this point them number numbers only Beyonce and Taylor Swift is maybe like a hairy style for somebody , but I just think that's insane when they say it . But Taylor Swift , nothing to give them . She sold out so far , she's white .

Speaker 1

Stadium . So I mean .

Speaker 2

I mean , she's just like clean cut and all that . I that's . I still can't believe .

Speaker 3

And her you got about ? Her fan base is from like 11 to 40 .

Speaker 2

Yeah , yeah . So it's like I can't do a lot of people outside .

Speaker 1

My daughter Shake it off . Let me see , I think I got to tell it , shake it off .

Speaker 3

Shake it off , bad blood .

Speaker 2

Oh yeah , we never get back together .

Speaker 3

I knew you was trouble .

Speaker 2

God dang , you know I ain't going to lie .

Speaker 3

I got to fuck with Taylor Swift . Oh yeah , I like that .

Speaker 2

I'm going to have to start listening to it , she pulling them numbers . Yeah Well , Beyonce going to be here in what three weeks ?

Speaker 1

Oh , is she coming in ?

Speaker 2

three weeks yeah .

Speaker 3

Ain't going to be honest . I'm going to horrible decisions , though .

Speaker 2

Who's horrible decisions ?

Speaker 3

The podcast . Ok , they get , they do they last ? Well , that's the girls , huh .

Speaker 2

So they do , like what 85 self does . Yeah , go on tour . Well , they do that . That's what we're going to start doing .

Speaker 1

They do it every night . Then this is the last actual tour .

Speaker 3

So they've done a few tours . This is a last tour .

Speaker 2

So they're not doing it tours anymore , so they do the podcast show .

Speaker 3

So they call this on the climax tour .

Speaker 2

Yeah , so they do a podcast show and then they just kind of just talk .

Speaker 1

So it'll be like if we were just sitting here . Yeah , because sometimes they do them at Stand Up Live . Oh yeah , yeah , they do them at the comedy clubs and stuff .

So it'll be just like what we're doing right now , but we're like this set up would just be at Stand Up Live and people just sit there and then it'll be , you know you would have what's it called Horrible Decisions yeah , horrible .

Speaker 3

Decisions .

Speaker 1

They don't know black effects Like a whore . Yeah , horrible decisions .

Speaker 2

They're the white chicks .

Speaker 3

No , black chicks . They're black , they're mixed chicks . Yeah , so yeah .

Speaker 1

So mixed chicks is black , right that's what I always talk about . Ok , because I'm saying this , nigga keeps saying people got to stop trying to sweet-nigger . When I was a kid they was black and they black now and you can be like , oh , you can identify as white . No , nigga , you black .

Speaker 3

I don't think you can identify as white if you mix . Come on for the $71 .

Speaker 1

For the horrible decisions . Crescent ballroom when is that ? I heard it . I heard it at before . Where is that the Crescent Ballroom Is ?

Speaker 2

that in Scottsdale ?

Speaker 1

No , it's downtown the Crescent Ballroom . Damn what cross street .

Speaker 2

But yeah , I started $71 .

Speaker 1

A , I know , I go see what is it . Drew Hill , drew Hill SWV . And Jodesy , I think that's September 2nd . Yeah , you just talk about that comedy show . Yeah , yeah , they're going to be at the Cricket Pavilion . Huh , the Cricket Pavilion . Oh , it's not cricket , no more , but that's what I still call it . I'm calling it Cricket Pavilion , second Street in Van .

Speaker 3

Buren , oh yeah .

Speaker 2

It's kind of right by the van Buren , right , yeah , similar to that .

Speaker 1

No , I've never been to the van Buren either .

Speaker 2

Van Buren's pretty cool , it's standing room only .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I don't think I've never been . So when you go to a concert there , it's just .

Speaker 2

Yeah , it's just general admission . You just stand in the room and just stay up there ?

Speaker 1

How many people ?

Speaker 2

I don't know it probably fit a couple thousand .

Speaker 3

So what's the place that's off of like 75th and in Cantu ?

Speaker 1

No , that's what I call the Cricket Pavilion . It's Talking Stick Pavilion .

Speaker 3

It called me out of guard because you do not see Talking Stick .

Speaker 1

I think you got there . That's exactly what I said .

Speaker 2

I'm always thinking because it was Hock Chen , hock Chen was there at one point right .

Speaker 1

But you always have to look at . They always say Empathyator , so you got to look for that . So you know it's well . Like I said , I keep calling it .

Speaker 3

Cricket .

Speaker 1

But yeah , because that's what it was , joe , I still call it Jobbingcom . Oh yeah , that thing that had nine , 20 million things , that was Talking Stick , or and Desert Diamond , hock Chen or Desert Diamond .

Speaker 2

Now it was Heeler . Yeah , it was Jobbing .

Speaker 3

Then you got the Footprint Center . Yeah , I remember being Jobbing . I remember being the Heeler River .

Speaker 1

And where's America West now ? America West Arena Footprint Center ? Oh , and , you see Arizona State . The football stadium is called like Mountain Side Bank .

Speaker 3

I think it's a credit union .

Speaker 1

They said this is the first time it has . It's not Sun Devil Stadium anymore , it's Money Talks .

Speaker 3

They can somebody give them some paper .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 3

United Airlines has been giving the city of Chicago to the United Center like 20 million .

Speaker 1

Man .

Speaker 3

Ever . That's the one of the only states that's the biggest United Center since it went up .

Speaker 2

Damn .

Speaker 3

Is that where it's always been here ?

Speaker 2

Is that their hub in Chicago ?

Speaker 3

No , I don't think so . It might be in O'Hare .

Speaker 2

Because , like America and so you feel , you go to Dallas . All those foreigners are American , american Arena .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 2

So if that's their hub , Like , isn't it ?

Speaker 1

a couple Like Mercedes Benz is in .

Speaker 3

Atlanta . It's Atlanta in New Orleans .

Speaker 1

That's what I thought .

Speaker 3

So I guess , whoever you want to , make that check to whether they got a state farm state in . Somebody can go ahead and sponsor a I've still been calling the UOP for the longest , Even though I keep driving past them seeing state farm it's going to affect to me eventually , but I keep calling the UOP .

Speaker 1

I don't call it that because I never even liked it .

Speaker 3

I always thought it was weird like University of Phoenix yeah that's there Sounds too college-ish for me .

Speaker 1

And is University of Phoenix ? Is it still around ?

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 3

Is it ? My sister got her master's from the University of Phoenix .

Speaker 1

I thought they went bankrupt or something I thought something happened .

Speaker 2

They just ain't big time , no more .

Speaker 1

I know , when we first moved here , man , you saw them things all over the place .

Speaker 2

They're all over the country , aren't ?

Speaker 1

they University of Phoenix .

Speaker 3

I guess I ain't no much about it too , I know in Chicago you see a lot of University of Phoenix commercials talking about some B of Phoenix .

Speaker 1

Hey , did y'all know what a Phoenix was before you even ?

Speaker 3

Yeah , but that's because I read like mythology and shit .

Speaker 2

I do in Phoenix ?

Speaker 3

So you read in all the stories He'd be born from his ashes .

Speaker 2

The Phoenix .

Speaker 1

I know what that nigga was . Well , I know he was a . Wasn't he one of them little superhero characters too ? That's probably what a .

Speaker 2

I know it was a name Gene Gray , that's right , right , right , gene Gray , yeah , and . X-men , x-men , yeah .

Speaker 1

See , yeah , but that's all I knew right there .

Speaker 2

Other than that .

Speaker 1

I knew absolutely nothing .

Speaker 2

Representing our bird . That was hot .

Speaker 1

Oh , and it's hot too . Hey , y'all know a Phoenix recorded the hottest month ever for a city in US history in July . I don't know what the average temperature was , but Over 110 .

Speaker 2

Was that the average for the whole month ?

Speaker 3

At least yeah . Because , we went through two weeks of 115 to 17 .

Speaker 2

It was like that for a while 30 or 31 straight days .

Speaker 1

And then it's so funny , we're still I don't even know , you don't even need to watch the weather here , but you turn on the weather and you just like , uh , it's hot , yeah . It's going to be hot today , but you know it's going to be hot and even if it rains , you're like , oh , whatever , yeah , hopefully it does rain .

Speaker 2

I hope so too , but yeah , this is one . Yeah , you complain about the heat , but you got to get in it every day .

Speaker 1

No , it is what it is . No , I didn't you choose to live here . It's going to be hot next summer , the summer after that and the summer after that , People always ask how

The Record-Breaking Heat of July

can you live in ?

Speaker 3

there , the average temperature was 102.7 .

Speaker 1

For July .

Speaker 3

For July .

Speaker 1

Huh , that's average this beats the record .

Speaker 3

The previous record .

Speaker 1

Yeah , because that's what it says .

Speaker 3

It's seen , except in August 2020 at 99.1 . Yeah , because that .

Speaker 2

Now I know if people think 102.7, .

Speaker 3

I would say 103 degrees , but you got to realize , in most cities they don't even get to 100 .

Speaker 1

Hey , but look .

Speaker 3

You know when it's hot .

Speaker 1

But look no .

Speaker 3

Then the humidity be suffocating , you know .

Speaker 1

This is what people ain't realizing .

Speaker 3

Terrible .

Speaker 1

They said the average . The average temperature was 102 . So that means for the entire month it was at least that . It was at least that so we talking about in the morning , at night , because you know it cools off , so it had to be super , super hot to bring that average to 102 . That's what people don't realize , because for us we think 102 .

We're like , oh , that's beautiful .

Speaker 2

It can be 102 for 30 .

Speaker 1

Nah , I'm going outside .

Speaker 3

It was 102 at 11 . Yeah PM .

Speaker 2

He was calling me , he ain't 102 .

Speaker 1

I know , checking on me , you good , you all right , you be like you know . You know I'm doing all right , I'm going to go to work .

Speaker 3

I'll get up at 5.30 to go to work . It's 102 right there .

Speaker 1

Yeah , you like Time to get a bill of that workday it's 117 .

Speaker 3

Like we don't have the AC .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah ask about me when the no remember , I told you my air , but I mean I wasn't . I mean it ain't like I was affected . That took that thing straight to the shop , like I was like , wait , I think something is something's matter with my air . Very next day , yeah , it was in the shop . I was like , hey , I think my air is starting to act up .

Man , you can't have that . But then this was before it even got . That's your hell . Yeah , this was way before it did . This might have been . This actually might have been like two months ago .

Speaker 2

I'll be feeling sorry for cats that don't got no AC . See him driving with the windows down . Man . I feel sorry for him , man , it was worse .

Speaker 1

Hey , remember the one time Joe said he pulled up next to somebody and he said he just felt bad , so he said he just rolled his window down . Remember , he said he didn't want to see him . Want the person to see him . Oh , enjoying that . Ac man , Listen , that dog , that's insane man . 102 was was the average John .

Speaker 3

That's crazy 103 because it was 102.7 . Oh , you got to round up in 103 degrees . They might have went around up to 105 , because I don't even know how they got to 102 . We just went through July . Every day you turn , it was 100 . Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

So it was 115 for at least at least 13 , 14 days straight , I know for short . Past two weeks I was sitting there looking at the weather like the thing is is .

Speaker 2

I mean , we've all learned to deal with it . It's just if you don't park under a canopy or something .

Speaker 1

Yeah , you know you go to the store or something like that . It's just funny , though , like that's what .

Speaker 2

that's where it hits you is what you get in that car . Yeah man , you let that belt buckle .

Speaker 3

Well , I don't let the seats they have that belt buckle .

Speaker 2

Touch your skin . It's not be .

Speaker 1

That's .

Speaker 3

Yeah .

Speaker 1

I better carry your towel .

Speaker 2

Real .

Speaker 3

You have a what you got . You got to have one of my remote starts . I got that . Let it cool off , yeah .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I'll be forgetting to push this sometimes . Oh damn it Got about it .

Speaker 1

And now that's crazy . Right there Now do people still go ? Is the drive in ? Is the drive in still going on in the summer ? That's a good question . I don't know , because I know . I mean I just passed it .

Speaker 3

Uh , actually today I would hope that today I would hope I wouldn't recommend it . Yeah , so that's why .

Speaker 1

I'm like , man , would they can be open during the summertime ? Oh , I would hope not , man . I ain't been to that . We went , I think , one time . Oh , that's a long time ago , but yeah , I'm like how do you even listen to the ? They still have that speaker that you put in your window and roll it up and you just , you tune your radio in .

Speaker 2

I don't know what they do . I haven't been to drive drive through five , 15 years .

Speaker 1

I don't like man , I mess around , Go to start , go to start the car and I'm like I'm all messed up . You had to go through your system Now I don't even start . No .

Speaker 2

I know I'll be mad as hell sitting there .

Speaker 3

Have to turn on my .

Speaker 2

AC Watch it Like nah , I'll just go ahead and pay .

Speaker 1

The extra few dollars Go to that yeah hell , yeah , yeah , this , I'm all out of the mad to start it .

Speaker 3

They're the one by the shark .

Speaker 1

Yeah , up going to see it . I heard it was getting a terrible review . Still going to see it . I don't think the first one got good .

Speaker 3

Ain't never saw the first one . Hey well , I love this I saw the first one and I'm going to love this one .

Speaker 1

I do listen . I just love the movie experience . You know you get them . People like , oh , I'll just watch it at home . Yes , you can . Now , like I said , if money is an issue , I get it . Now , I get it . Everybody can't go out to the movies . Some people don't like going to the movies .

I like going , getting some popcorn , a box of candy , just sitting up there chilling Like damn , this is nice . Probably because I didn't do it Went to the movies as a kid , but not like as an adult , because as an adult I'm like I'm there , you're just relaxing . I mean four , like four or five times a month .

Speaker 2

Yeah , you're just relaxing . You just go there watch a movie , relax a couple hours , eat some popcorn .

Speaker 1

Yeah , that's what I'm saying . Get out the house , go use their air up a little bit .

Speaker 2

Paying for it . Go , use the AC .

Speaker 1

Walk around the mall , especially with some good movies coming out . Some good movies coming out .

Speaker 2

So they can release the movies that have already been made . Right , it's just they stop . Obviously they're a strike , so they can't .

Speaker 1

Yeah , so you know I don't . That's a good question .

Speaker 2

What happened ?

Speaker 1

Yeah , I think the stuff that's already done in it will think that what they call it in the can , In the can yeah .

Speaker 3

Yeah , I think they can like those are all good Because that's the studio owns that .

Speaker 2

The studio owns it , so once they get it , they get it . Can they pay ?

Speaker 3

But new stuff coming .

Speaker 1

Like from the writers yeah , so I mean nobody to write , it Ain't nobody to act in it yeah .

Speaker 3

So then that's that .

Streaming Services' Issues

Speaker 2

I wonder what's going to happen . You know , I wonder if these writers are still writing stuff on the side that just ain't releasing it , or when they do in this strike . You know , this is just going to be a surplus of .

Speaker 3

I mean , they probably , you know , using their creative outlets . They probably still were writing , doing things they want to do . They just ain't on the clock .

Speaker 1

That's crazy , y'all . You see , I think one of the biggest issues is the streaming services , right ? So you know , this is us . Mandy Moore is a big star in there and she showed one of her checks from the streaming on Hulu or whatever it's on . Y'all give us for 81 cents , that's crazy .

Speaker 3

Well , listen , they said that . You know , obviously Rihanna , she had the most streamed Spotify history period at billion since 2012 . Right , I guess it's about five stars . So since 2012, . What's that ? 11 years ? No 2008 , because they said it was about 15 years . They said from that billion stream from 2008 until now , she's made 2.6 million .

Speaker 1

That's terrible . Off the stream that's terrible .

Speaker 3

A billion . That's terrible .

Speaker 1

Now I would say that they're and being excited for making that . That's terrible man . There's a .

Speaker 3

And that's her .

Speaker 1

That's what the most .

Speaker 3

So imagine what other people they really ain't making enough .

Speaker 1

I don't even understand how the streaming works , because I mean for real most of the times , like when I'm playing music or whatever doing the workouts . That's like it's not Spotify , it's not Apple music , it's just CDs out and downloaded . Or you know , I'll go and I'll buy a song from here . I don't know why , so go watch the playlist on Netflix .

Speaker 2

It's about Spotify .

Speaker 1

And it's like streaming .

Speaker 2

How they started , how the dude started it .

Speaker 3

Yeah , so I don't understand how they made , because I think with Spotify you get so many things Like the title obviously gives me the most . I think for every 20 songs , 29 songs like the artist get like 70 cents . That's on title , but that same number on Spotify it's like 10 cents . It's real life .

But , Somebody was trying to explain to me that's why the title was for the artist , because they make more money , but still you got to pay . I got to pay the song this many times for you to get up , you still ain't even got a dollar .

Speaker 2

It's 79 . That was the number that you .

Speaker 1

And people 79 streams . People aren't even buying music . Gets you a dollar on title Like buying it 345 streams get you a dollar on Spotify .

Speaker 3

Here's the thing .

Speaker 2

They ain't getting paid enough , but at least they're getting paid something , because platforms like Tidal , spotify , apple Music and all that type of stuff those were made to get rid of the Napsters people stealing it Right .

Speaker 1

Right , right .

Speaker 2

That's true , so they were made to get rid of that .

Speaker 1

But they should be making a little bit more . No , they should be making more .

Speaker 2

No , I agree , I agree .

Speaker 1

I'm like you know they're making more Because this is like now I see why they're going to her . Like once again it comes back to Taylor Swift , because you know she's going like I think she's announcing dates for October 2024 . That's where they make the money at now , I know . I think they should make like a billion dollars .

Speaker 2

Man , they don't make their money off of it . It's great Off the CDs .

Speaker 3

No , they make their money touring .

Speaker 2

They make their money touring now and you know , and what ?

Speaker 3

they're making is going to merch Merch touring whatever investment they got going on . That's how they get it , because like the record companies and they're streaming . They ain't seeing nothing from that , not for real .

Speaker 1

Because obviously you know I always tell y'all shout out to Tank and Jay Valentine , because you know I love listening to the podcast R&B Money and because I love music so much .

But I don't understand the business , like I'm just a fan of music when they get to talking about how the music is played and stacking , and I can kind of figure it out or Google what this stuff is .

But I just said , apparently I wonder like how in the hell , if you wrote Love in the Club with Beyonce , right , or Usher that's the remix , because remember the original one , wasn't it GZ ? So Usher and GZ .

So now let's just say I get on there and when they talk about making Love in the Club and I'm like yeah , yeah , I could pay something , and you also like I might get a writer's credit , like just because I wrote that line , yeah , but I want to know how in the hell Do I get paid

Music Industry and Clearing Samples Explained

? Look , you make beats . So now somebody bought your beat and I say somebody paid you like 50,000 bucks . Now they own it , right .

Speaker 3

I Oshaded . So , like some producers , they'll sell you . So that's a Kanye West soldier be for $250,000 , but so he but he still wants a royalty credit .

So he's gonna be put as the producer on there so he'll get the producer credit and then , but for the most part , once you sell it , it's gone like that's why a lot of them they have this I forget what it's called a platform when you can put your beats up and people can use it , license it right . And so the but it's always there .

They can only have it for a certain amount of time . They can go back to my . Else can do it . So people keep making money . It's one producer he was talking about it make like 40,000 a month on this because he was making . It just .

He just up those , beats people , they want them , they license them and they like before a period of time and then he , I'll be a Sam Ash tonight making a beat machine , all right .

Speaker 1

You like music . Yeah , I'm like . Okay . Well , here , let me I know what beats I like , shit me . If I like them , hopefully somebody else like them , let's throw them up there . Well , I'm a 1500 this month . You know that's , it's a little something extra .

Speaker 2

I mean that's just how it is now , though it's , it's , it's Tell that dreamy is everything upload now . Yeah , you know , you almost have to . Just how do you copy writer beat , you know I mean and that's something .

Speaker 3

That's when you make it , it's why you , that's why it's good to have , ask , have and all that already .

Speaker 1

So look this beat , this beat that you made right here . What , uh ? So now what if somebody wanted to where , somebody wanted to buy it , or something ?

Speaker 3

If I , that's places that I could put it . Mm-hmm and then because , before I gave it to y'all , I'd sold it twice .

Speaker 2

Okay .

Speaker 3

To some local rappers , one in Atlanta , one in Chicago . Okay , I 300 a piece . Okay and no , it is what it is . But you can check that some people have prices , so they'd like okay , you give me 300 , I'll let you use it . If you give me 1500 , I'll give you the exclusive rights to right Right .

Speaker 1

So more you pay , you know then , so somebody gave you like 20 grand , you go out , oh that's your , that's sure , that's sure yeah .

Speaker 3

I worry about nobody else getting yeah right .

Speaker 2

What if it's already out ?

Speaker 3

there , then whatever is up with it on there there are fine to take it down , okay .

Speaker 1

Okay , okay , huh .

Speaker 3

Even if someone bought it because it'd be more here . But see , that's what I'm saying , if it was bought beforehand , but it was like least like you didn't buy , because if it was bought , beforehand and then I sell it to somebody else and that's , that's some illegal shit on my part .

But if if I , if I gave it to you , like at the least that means at some point , if I , even if I want to take it back , yeah . I can take it back or you can pay me more money to keep using it .

But if somebody comes along like , oh , I like that they pay them , they pay some racks for it and they , but they don't , and they don't want to know , no , no , where else than wherever else it is legally , they can have that taken .

Speaker 2

So Hmm , I will always get confused because again .

Speaker 3

I'm not in the music industry .

Speaker 2

I don't know nothing about how all the industry works . But you know , when people talk about clearing samples , right , I understand what a sample is right , right . Right , so like computer love computer love , you know . You know people sample other people's music . Say for instance , your beat Someone you hear it somewhere else , that you didn't that , didn't sell it .

You know you didn't sell it to and you're sitting here like , hey , that's that sounds like my beat . How does that work ?

Speaker 3

could you sit there you saw , follow , complain or assume my beat that's why I figured out you have to have as cap and all that okay , what's that Cuz ?

Speaker 2

that's , that's , that's that's music copyright .

Speaker 3

Okay , that way you can .

Speaker 1

I've heard tank and Jay Valentine talk about it .

Speaker 3

Cuz that's how songwriters Cuz you know you , you register all of that with them so that if it's hard you ain't even got to be the one to hear it . Somebody in the power that be here like that sounds a little familiar .

And then actually you know if somebody getting the season to sis lateral or you know you breaking copyright infringement laws , right other things , because if something cuz , but a lot of times what it is , as long as what you're doing is not making money From the use of something , people don't trip so hard , or some of them still do it just off the principle .

But if you , but if you , definitely if you make a money . That's why you rarely ever see mixtapes on streaming services because they're using other original beats so they don't want to make you . You know that so you can't .

Speaker 2

That's why I was . I was always confused about mixtase because , yeah , you know , like jock weaves , someone you know wrapping over some singing- a little way . They're the way and they make a whole mixtape right .

Speaker 3

Yeah , all them classic , as long as you don't sell it . Yeah , you're good . Yeah , you can't sell it , cuz once you sell it so I can write you gotta give . That's why , like , what's that song bound to right ? Kanye West , he makes the . He doesn't clear the sample .

Now he got to give the originals of that money , like when Nicki Minaj was trying to do Then remember her name , that's my mind . She had a song . It was a good song . It had nines on it . It was gonna come out on her album but it ended up not coming out because the sample didn't get cleared by Tracy Chapman . Well , we heard the song .

Tracy Chapman was like oh no , we , we soon for this .

Speaker 2

So so the so so the so Tracy Chapman owns the masters .

Speaker 3

Yeah , because that's so . If it's her original work and you use it and I'm talking about any part of it that's what's crazy because . Because most time when the person makes a beat , so I make a beat . I've made a lot of beats that got samples in it .

If I sell that beat to an artist , their artist have the responsibility now to clear that sample or they can't use it .

Speaker 2

So so when you sample some , you're taking From the original music right . Yeah .

So so you're taking from the original music and and I'm and I watched the whole Wu Tang saga , so I'm listening to the RZA you know talking about yeah , and I need to get this clear before we can get this so You're taking from the original music , putting your flavor on it , right , whatever it is , beat drums , you know whatever it is .

Once that sample clears , now do you have to pay them To use their sample ?

Speaker 3

depends on the artist . Some people make you . They charge you a fee , like the ID brothers , like he's gonna say he didn't , they really want charging like that . He said in some sense , sheets , they didn't want one of .

Speaker 1

You know , they want to clear he said but if a man shows up with 250,000 , like I want to use this piece of your song .

Speaker 3

No , do what . You , do what I'm gonna say . Yeah , go ahead now . Almost in on top of that , because Once I told us say you use a sample and it has words , so now that person you have to pay to clear that sample . Also , that person is credited on that song as a writer .

Yeah if that , if you use words from one of these songs , they credit on there as a writer , producer , so they , so they getting royalty there , fuck around , begin more royalties from it than you are .

Speaker 2

So I don't use that if I'm , if I'm someone who's got something , I don't most let every sample clear , because now that's gonna take them back to the original . In my , in my mind , I'm like , oh , this sounds like something I used to hear . Oh , let me go find that that old somebody .

Speaker 3

But you see , that's why most is , for the most part , most samples clear Mm-hmm like , because they do a lot of times . Like it was a real hot sample , the original might get a uptick in streams . Yeah because now people trying to see where it came from yeah , that's like that . I mean that's a well , that's all we do .

I thought it was a good thing about sampler , so be something that I like . I'm like anybody listening to this , but I was so about but I'll . But if you sample it , put in a beat , hip-hop beat that people listen to , you know , in a swing them around listen anything between the sheets , computer love Anything .

Speaker 1

What's Puff ? Daddy had a few , some hot ones .

Speaker 3

Yeah , a lot of them . Um , Puffy got a lot of sample track .

Speaker 1

No , I love them all because I love them back then and I love them a lot .

Speaker 3

You know what cuz every no Like . Like he said between the sheets yeah , so you hear , today was a good day .

Speaker 2

Then now you know , that's I said .

Speaker 3

I like Sam .

Speaker 1

That's one of that's why Kanye West was one of my favorite producers just because he sampled so much yeah yeah , especially when a when they kind of any stuff you ain't even think about pays homage to some of the older Just some of the older stuff You're like okay , you know what I'll take it .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I like it , yeah , yeah , listen to this woman's work Of what ?

Speaker 1

tank , tank . Yeah , I did .

Speaker 2

Maxwell who did it before him .

Speaker 3

But the Kate Bush getting paid off exactly yeah , oh yeah . Oh , run up that hill . Who it's just a song called run up that hill . It's a very famous song , kate Bush . They use it in movies . Right right , she getting paid .

Speaker 1

So she , so she originally did yeah what anybody sings it .

Speaker 3

That's why Dolly Parton , everybody like , oh , she , she don't care that waiting he's to be came . You know , they and I will always love you .

Speaker 1

She did . She's told Whitney , that's your song , oh yeah .

Speaker 3

Yeah , she was like oh no no , it's she ever heard song because that's like Luther Vanguards had .

Speaker 1

I heard a song one time I was like wait , who God , oh man , I forget what song was in . Luther Vanguards redid it Way better .

Speaker 3

Sometimes it'd be like that , cuz some songs just fit other people like and I like Dolly Parton live .

Speaker 1

But if I Like you , like Whitney Niggas , stop it .

Speaker 3

I like Never coming back again .

Speaker 1

We keep it a little on it on here .

Speaker 3

I like Dolly Parton too , but I'm saying I like Dolly Parton a lot , you like .

Speaker 1

Niggas , if you hear , that's what we like . On Dolly Parton .

Speaker 3

If you hear Whitney Houston's singing that song and you heard Dolly Parton sing that song , it's like I never , knew she even sang .

Speaker 1

It's a no brainer ?

Speaker 2

I didn't know either , till I heard Dolly Parton singing .

Speaker 1

I still ain't heard . I swear to God , I still ain't never heard it .

Speaker 3

Why is Dolly Parton selling with Houston ?

Discussing Music, Money, and Dreams

But I was saying to they say about like you know who's loving you . Like Smokey Robinson is my favorite artist of all time , right , mm-hmm , but Him singing who's loving you and the jacks of fire singing who's loving you , and please hey See , he told the story about that .

Speaker 1

He said he had got mad Cuz he was like man , how was he at the time ? Was he 12 , 9 , 10 , 11 , like that ? You gonna have some 10 year old boy , what the hell ? You know what he doing ? They said he started singing and he said Never mind my bad , cuz he don't know nothing about love break or any of that stuff .

Speaker 2

He just singing lyrics to a song and he killed him Waco jack-o .

Speaker 1

Well , that was before he was Waco jack-o .

Speaker 3

Yeah .

Speaker 1

I love Michael Jackson . Good , next , great , there'll be a lot of songs .

Speaker 3

Like you will hear multiple artists sing them .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , yeah , somebody just sings it better . Yeah , no , it is a lot of songs like that . You start hearing like , who put that ? Remember you put up . Oh yeah , dude . You was like when . You was like oh , when a old chick , oh , oh when a young chick , a young chick dates a old , older man and the song they was listening to .

She starts singing something else and that's almost like what would who ? Sam ? What's the ? Uh Uh ? Girls are players too .

Speaker 3

Oh , coil Ray .

Speaker 1

What ? What samples that from ? I can't see it right now .

Speaker 3

But you , you hear it , you to go puffy sampling it .

Speaker 1

I just cute sample it I .

Speaker 2

Thought it was someone else . Who did she think it was ?

Speaker 1

Because I know I heard the song oh . Hey , y'all gotta look that up . Who else who's ?

Speaker 3

uh , and that's how the sample . Um , there was boss clothes talking about the message , grandmaster flash .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 3

Yeah , ice cube , sample it .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah coffee .

Speaker 3

Sample it , cause it's been on so many and that's like what the beginning hip-hop , but it's been sampled right right .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , dennis , at work , that's .

Speaker 3

Just like if you ever be in the club or and that song was it called G Alice or whatever the hell he called it , but when it first comes on , it comes on so much like hey , listen by juvenile , so everybody think it's yeah yeah , I Be a hot mess in the club right now .

Speaker 1

Be like , oh man , they playing Dennis at work . Then you like wait .

Speaker 2

Hold on like who is this ?

Speaker 1

But no , I do . I , like you know , some of them , young people , a Singing , some of the music and all that .

Speaker 2

If it's done right , I like it . Yeah , yeah , like you said , you playing you to me , you're just paying homage , right .

Speaker 1

And that's what I think you just like they probably heard their parents singing it , yeah so that's like you know , we're gonna sing it too , is it is . This is some good stuff , man . But no , I did . I always just wonder like , how ? Like , okay , so you write a few bars , I'll add cuz it was . It was a song that somebody wrote .

I Forget who they was talking about , but it was , you know , taking Jay Valentine . There's somebody just added something . But what I need to know is we're going to get some music people on here . How do you determine what you wrote , what I wrote , like where we get paid ? Yeah , that's what I never understood that .

Yeah , that's on the way to they break it down and when do I get my money . So you know when you getting your money . You know when you getting your money you like , we all have jobs .

Speaker 2

You know when you get paid so I know , like for features you just pay , so like if I , if I want drink on .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

But yeah , as far as the credits and stuff and getting paid off a song coming to mail .

Speaker 3

Yeah , just go to the . You just go to the damn mailbox . One day you got some money from ASCAP .

Speaker 2

So they break it down . They break it down based on percentage and stuff .

Speaker 3

They break it down into percentages . Yeah okay , so now I think , like writers have like a higher percentage than other people , and then and it just broke it's broken down into a certain type of percentages and then it's all confusing .

Speaker 1

And right now want to know who's painted . Then I also want to know what if I don't pay . I'm just saying I know . So I know it's all on good faith or whatever , but you drop a Drop some bars for me , and then I'm just like Then he's still waiting on this check .

Speaker 3

I know you can be like I ain't never working with you sell a CD and they were some CDs CDs 15 dollars , so artists might get a dollar fifty of that so now you got a change . So if he goes or Shit . Let's say 75 cent of a fifteen dollar CD . So then you know that CDs going Hundred thousand so now you're here . You got an idea number , number .

Speaker 2

Yet you're going to sell 200,000 , so $1.50 of each , each CD . You know times 200,000 , you know to 2.5 million , I don't know but um yeah , nah . I mean it's interesting , it's interesting . I got something important to talk about , though . Go ahead , power balls , oh no , make a million , oh man .

Speaker 1

I can make it All right , we're gonna close it out with this .

Speaker 2

I told myself .

Speaker 1

No , you know what cuz ? No , I ain't even saying that , because then people gonna know .

Speaker 2

No , I don't know you can't start , not finish . Well , I'm getting the lamb off . Oh yeah , the new one , yeah .

Speaker 1

Rev it , rev it Ravioli , the Ravioli one , I don't even know how to say it . Yeah , just put Lambo R E V and then I call it Lambo Ravioli and Whatever it is Hold on , let me let me look at my jackpot analysis real quick . So I know I'm getting at least 328 415 , 399 . So yeah , 399 to 400 , you gonna get 400 million Kept like .

So in three weeks I'm gonna have 400 million dollars in my bank account .

Speaker 2

Yeah , so take that loan from the pay me out .

Speaker 1

I think they said take three weeks .

Speaker 3

So much can happen three weeks , unless I die in three weeks .

Speaker 2

So much can happen , dog like . I'll be like a crack-fee like money in there .

Speaker 1

Yet the money in the . I don't make no difference , man , every day credit card I have a draft pick when they know that I'm coming .

Speaker 3

Yeah , oh , damn good , fuck , they give you what you asked for . They , they know you good for okay .

Speaker 1

What's the first thing you buying ? Oh , lambo , I already said it .

Speaker 2

I got to . Yeah , I got to . I don't know Lambo . Yeah , I'm a Bobby in the car . Lambo , I don't even know what I'm a park .

Speaker 1

I don't know what that card is . I mean what ? I'm a parking in the garage and just parked the truck outside . But the . Lambo . Oh yeah , no Lambo . How about you , sir ? I worry about the house later . I were about the house later .

Speaker 2

I mean I have a house now , yeah , yeah , that , yeah , I mean I know that , I know I'm gonna be the house shopping , yeah , but no , I need the Lambo .

Speaker 1

Now just uh , yeah , just a stunt . Yeah , just uh , you know , settle my internet yeah .

Speaker 3

Because you like you can't worry about the house later , I think , but the first thing she's got people gonna sit up here and I got Michael even my mind .

Speaker 1

I'll mess your dreams up .

Speaker 3

I might have to do the flash first . First I mean listen . The flash can roll around in that for a minute while we selling in the house and all the other shit .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , I didn't even think about . I'm thinking about a house cuz my situation dictates I need to think about a house , yeah but All I know is my car I'm gonna park in front of the house and then bring the Lambo and whatever she get .

Speaker 2

You might as well just get rid of the truck .

Speaker 1

No , oh no , no , no , dude , don't keep the truck . What ?

Speaker 2

Oh , oh , oh yeah cuz you need something like yeah , you can't . Oh , oh , nigga listen can't go certain places , dude .

Speaker 1

You know the rose , royce , leather and all that .

Speaker 2

Oh .

Speaker 1

It's gonna look like peanut butter on the inside .

Speaker 2

You gonna redo it ? Hey , oh yeah .

Speaker 1

Oh , yeah , yeah , oh yeah , man , that good luck . It already look nice already . So now , just , man Do , I can't go . I Can't be going to Mandy's on baseline in my lamp . Well , I can , but not , yeah , not all the time . You know , sometimes I like to frequent the community .

Speaker 2
