#21: Susan Ungaro, James Beard Foundation President

The oldest of six children, Susan Ungaro was the first in her family to graduate high school and college. She served as editor-in-chief of "Family Circle" magazine for 12 years before becoming president of the James Beard Foundation (JBF), where she spent the last 10 years expanding the organization's national and global reach through scholarship programs, membership and thought-leadership initiatives. Among other things, JBF is responsible for the prestigious James Beard Awards which highlight outstanding chefs.
