Hi, everyone. Vivi here. And I wanted to just ask a little favor. If you wouldn't mind voting for us, no latency for best legacy Podcast in the Crit Awards for the year 2025, which is a long time ago in Night City based on where we are currently. So please go back in time and vote for us in the Crit Awards in the year 2025. Thank you. Goodbye. If you'd like to help us win the category, there's a link in the podcast description. And now on with the show. Last time on no latency.
You. Mr. Exact Mark Ziger. Jesus Christ. Oh. No. Well, it's your funeral. Domino is made of body fuel bite. Wait, wait. Made of. He could be saved. Baby, how much does facial reconstruction? For giving him Domino's blood. If that's not really your thing. Just the little vials worth is probably fine. This whole thing is really going to be a huge car. If you cured him yet, obviously you need your hand to drink this vial. Baby, what the fuck are we doing here?
You should probably do that. Are we starting the covenant of vampires? I seem to remember, but everyone thought that I was the rich. One, yeah, but now I'm down to 25,000. The whole point of this vending machine, The thing is. Like God's eye are we? Plug and play here or are we having to go through sod around? OK, I think it's brilliant. Is that brilliant? I can't tell. Is that brilliant? It's brilliant. Look, OK, it looks great.
You know, I could tell that you definitely coded it pretty well. Minor tweaks I would say, like, you know, we know for sure that, you know, Iona's gambling parlour is in combat zone Sharks cards. I don't see it. What is that? Are we OK? Like is this fully set to be able? It's right there. You have to. You have to touch the menu to choose the locations. Otherwise with how many places we've abandoned can get a little overwhelming. Oh. I see. What about the underwater lab?
The underwater lab is outside of the city and is not OH. Dang it, I can never remember where things are. It is off the coast. So do we have like a set places that we got to set up these triangulation things or are we just kind of, you know, as long as we got three of them up somewhere, we're good? Yes, but deciding that coverage is, it's up to you. Well, here's, here's the thing. We're going to be doing triangulation, all right.
We can go for a wider berth. However, with a wider berth is going to set some inconsistencies. We can be close to the area and not an exact, whereas the smaller we go, the better it'll be able to pinpoint. But The thing is, is that we have no idea where they're at at
all, right? No. So The thing is if we're really wanting to pinpoint is that we're going to need to do a very wide berth to kind of get an area and then we'll have to re triangulate again when we get to wherever that is close to. Yes, unfortunately I am aware that we have not explored very much of the East Coast of the city. My suggestion for I'm still trying to find the location for that coast, perhaps something on Maura Rock, but otherwise we'll have to find something in the
University district. Wait the the the East Coast I. Was going to say that's West right or? That is the. Map upside down. Yes, I meant the West Coast. Correct. Hell yeah. Maybe. Yes. Being a Med tech, I think that you are going to have some very good thoughts about this, Iona being a exec, knowing you know, pretty good body language and you know how most people, corporations think and Jeb just being you. I have a question. Yes. Go ahead.
Do we think that these AI are that cartoony, entropish enough to pick something that's like, you know, mega villain esque kind of thing? Or do you think that they have like some underground thing that everyone just kind of walks over? Like, are they able to be subtle or do we think that they're like over the top? They are smarter than we fear, so finding them is going to be harder than you think. My thoughts exactly.
Yes. So they're definitely not on moral rock then, OK. What is moral rock, by the way? I, I, I never, I ain't never been there. Don't know too much about it. I don't either, but it feels like a place where you would have a super secret villain layout and I was like, maybe you just check that out. That's the layer. Emma, is it just a big rock? I mean, I know Moro, it is Spanish for Hill or like, yeah, so it's just like a big, big rock.
It is mostly the location of the orbital air mass driver. A tremendous construction site. It's where. What are they constructing? An orbital mass driver. It's an orbital mass driver. It's a large gun that shoots into space. It drives orbital mass. Exactly. Orbital mass being drive into. Space. Something. 'S huh? Big and Spacey. Now we're talking, you see, I understand that. Side note, I just looked that up in the compendium really easily here on roll 20 and that was dope.
I. Was going to say that that's impressive that you were able to know what that was. And that was really. Cool, I just. Went more and rock what is. It just put it up. That's cool. OK. So our thought is to just get a wide range, a wide berth and then narrow it down potentially later. Exactly. OK. However, while we consider these locations and give your GMA chance to build the locations for you at a later date, we still need the actual machines we're going to place in these
locations. Oh, right. So step one, get them machines. Step 2, find the place where to put them machines. Step three. Put them machines in them places. Exactly. Correct. Then triangulation. Plan. Begins. I've done a little digging. Yeah, as long as it's not Maelstrom. Well, I think they're not going to be a problem for a while, baby. True and. He. Pulls a packet of cigarettes from around the bar. Thank you P.
Oh, you're welcome. And lights one with his finger and then scoots the pack across the table towards you VV. VV grabs one too and and lights one in the. Bar. Ping very pointedly puts a a ashtray next to you on the table. Here you go. Thank you. For the transponders we are looking for are D-1C-96TS. OK, got to write that down hold. On. D-1C-96T. 96T. Confirmed. OK, and this is for the machines, but what is OK? For the transponders so that we can triangulate the signal, we
will need three of them. OK, unless you plan on quadrilating instead of triangulating, which would require more. No that that should be good. We can make a little triangle. I have delayed their delivery to Northern Knight City. OK. They are located down here near Metro's apartment in Rancho Coronado. That's the Upns lot. Southern Night City, you keep looking at it upside down. Delivery is to Northern Night City. They are currently on a truck. Oh, I see.
In the South of Night City. I see. Yes. So they're going to come right past us. Or we could just go to the van. That's on the plan. I have put the delivery in a sort of digital limbo, but obviously I can't pull them out of the Internet. No, obviously not. That's why I'm going to pay you to do it. To pull them out of the Internet, we're going inside the Internet. No, Jeff, you're going to go to the Mart and steal them from Upns. OK, Yeah. Yeah, that that way you can do.
It's a lot more up our speed. Yes. Yes. If you would do this, how does Jeff put it? Clandestine. Oh. Clandestine. That's a big word. But it's one I've used a few. Tags to say OK Jeff has occasionally used a big word like that. You will need to get these. If anybody finds out that we have them, it will be a red flag to the syndicate and they make it a little fervent. OK, so. They just need to discretely become lost. Yes, we we can do that.
However, I mean. This evening I have done a fair amount of physical exertion and require, unfortunately, rest. Yes, that does happen sometimes. Rest is important for everybody. I do not think it is wise for me to come with you. No, I, I think I. Am not very clandestine. You need to charge the old batters. In a sense, I have a lot of cable to eat. That does help with the regrowth and regeneration and all that stuff. So. Are you like trying out a variety pack?
I just got paying to get different flavors so I could try them. I knew it. I'm going to go and try cotton candy now. What's the worst one? Cotton candy cable. Yes, Jeff. It tastes like dental floss. I like the way dental floss tastes. You would. Everybody has different preferences and flavour tastes, you know. I know the saying is don't yuck someone else's Yum, but. I I hate the BBQ flavour but that's fair. I for some reason retro you love them so.
Well, I like it because it reminds me of, you know, the gumbo back home. Way too much smoke, way too much spice. There's no flavour to it, it just burns your mouth. Yeah, and that's not enjoyable and. While you've been having this conversation, Domino's just left. He's gone through the the door downstairs and has gone off to go rest. Respect. Hey, hey guys. Just like a general vibe check on Domino. Oh, do you want me to?
Please. No, no, no, no. I'm just, I just want to ask the group what everybody thinks of Domino so far. You know, with his, I feel like it's still an adjustment for everybody, him being a person now. Phoebe, not to be funny, but do you think it's wise for us to have this conversation here? Yeah, that's true. I mean not. Not that we'd say anything bad, of course. Yeah, you know what? We'll we'll do a check in. Maybe there's somewhere we could go?
On the way. Like, because we're not, I mean, we, you know, Domino's basically put these transponders in like a limbo digitally. So it's not like we're in a rush on that. We could take the night off. I mean, we all got paid, didn't we Ping? But what did we get? Paid Ping. We've got the bubble Cafe. We we all got, we all got how much retro? You've muted, you've got the mute. You've turn, push the button.
Oh, sorry, I thought we were actually going to talk about Domino and so I had myself muted to say all the bad things. Right. And we're ready. I hear you all go. Yeah, I think you've got 1000 each you go. Oh money baby. Been a bubble cafe a lot. I mean, I'm still unhappy. They, they screwed me over. I asked for Dwarf and they didn't give it to me. So how trustworthy is this place? I don't know. Maybe I paid for it and they they screwed me over. Retro role, Human perception. VV role.
Some kind of deception? Let's see. As you say this, Vivi's face goes bright red. You said the word dwarf. Yeah, So, you know, I don't know how trustworthy the Bubble Cafe can be if they can't get a simple order, right. And in all honesty, I might need to, I'd say maybe we go back to get a refund, but you know, I don't want to, I don't want to bring anything bad against it. I know it's business, you know, like. You you wouldn't. Screw me over, right Bebe?
Like where? Her place wouldn't do that to me. Oh, what retro? The Bubble Cafe would not do that. OK, it was it was just a mistake. OK, don't leave a one star review on our garden Yelp, whatever the Night City version of Yelp is. If I was going to, I would have done it already. Look, I understand. I know that you took Reeves in because, you know, they're a good guy. And look, I I enjoy hanging out with Reeves. Hanging out with Reeves. And he's been doing great.
Except for that. OK, look. OK. You know what? Fine, Brett. Sure. We don't have to go to the bubble cafe. Where would where? Yeah, what? What would you suggest? We don't have many other hangout places besides here in the Buffalo Cafe. Well, you know a good place that we could go because everybody's already talked about money. Why don't we go and make some money where you know? I was. Just. Yeah, you know it has. We haven't been there in a while.
That's an option. I should go pick up we, we can go. Are we going to go? Are we? Are we? Going to go gambling. Let's go gambling. I'll. I'll be the I'll be the one to say it. I don't got a ton of money to do the gambling in the 1st place. So somebody want to like spot me? You just got 1000 eddies. We did just get 1000 eddies from our job. That look, that's that goes. That could go a long way. Get also in. That 1020. 5 real quick.
Yeah, but we've already got another job lined up, Jeb, and you don't pay rent because you sleep over there. That's true. Yeah. Well, all right. OK, I'll be great. Hey Iona, can you like send a message ahead? Make sure they got a bunch of moonshine ready for us. Sure, absolutely. Pull out my tile and I'll send that message off to Shark. You get a salute emoji and then another text that says how many people are you bringing? 12345 including myself. Ping do you want to come?
I mean, sure, that'd be nice. Awesome Ping finally gets to come hang out with us. Yeah, I mean, that'd be nice. I mean, that way we can talk about all the nice things we have to say about Domino. True. Very good. I'm going back on mute. Who? Who brought who? It's horrible. Ping is gone. That's my question, OK. Stranger the whole time. Because I know Domino's like resting, you know? Yeah, no, I, I he just went downstairs. As long as it ain't 9. What ain't 9?
And you will pile into the van and head out into Night City through the streets. You can hit barking in the background. I'm. So sorry you guys. Journey into the world of Frostborn, The newest dark of Dungeons at Randomness takes place 100 years after our last, meaning it's a perfect time to jump into the show. The endless winter has finally come. Invana White makes its way through the Glen and through Night City to head towards the combat zone.
Jeb roll a driving check and now Domino isn't listening. Dang baby, that plush corgi you got sounds really real. This is kind of annoying, not going to lie. Not really. Not quite sure why we brought them, but that's fine. We can just leave it in the van. Drive drive down beats. With 29, yeah, you take the Main Street down Skyline South and outside of Night City, passing really close to Sawtooths. Make your way towards shark cards. You've got a few minutes before
you arrive though. I did. I did what? I did message how many people were coming. You did OK, Good. I said to make sure, but I think I'm plan to have moonshine ready. Yes. Oh boy. Oh, we're just going. To be a good. 10 I'll I'll smoke that. So is now a good time to maybe before we get to to Shark to do a little vibe check with everybody? I think it is I. Mean, yeah, I think that's great. Personally, I'm a little
nervous. Like I said, not not super excited to lose all my money, but hopefully things are. More specifically on Domino, you know, him being a person now, and I don't know, he's got some interesting habits that I think we need to just keep an eye on. He's also like a little sexy and that's upset. I mean, I guess I got kind of a hot take maybe, but does he feel a little, I don't know, controlling? No, not not not as much as he. I mean feels the same when they were not in the meat space.
Yeah, I guess I just never really noticed. I suppose they're just. There now for permission instead of just telling us that, right? Yeah, I, yeah, I don't know. I just, I, I just want to make sure that that everything goes well for Domino and he doesn't like have any concerning habits. I mean, I guess other than the hunger for flesh that he now has. I mean, Jeb has that. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, but he is seems, I'm not going to say more advanced, but let's not, you know, pull any
punches here. Domino. This is Domino's first time in the meat space as he says it. He definitely is not used to social conventions and faux pas and such. Or physical cravings so I. Mean his whole dinner is cotton candy tonight, so. Uh huh. It actually starts trying with the, you know, mind altering drugs that's gonna, I mean. Oh dear, you don't. Even imagine. Oh. Domino's. A ping. A ping packed up. I. Mean in theory, Domino's already done coke. What's the theory?
Oh, well, I mean you, you remember how Domino used to work right before you guys came along? He. Was an AI, I don't really know the whole the. Whole point is that it was a secret, Jeb, right? Yeah, right. And you know that I'm a doll, right? Yeah. Well, I've got the doll implant and that lets. Right. Me take on the a complete new personality, be it an SI or an AI and so when dealing with people they would sort of
download a little. So you're saying that I guess he they do have some sort of maybe a memory or some sort of some sort of interaction with synth coke? Through you. But not necessarily with their own body and consciousness together. Yeah, yeah. I had to do a line with a client to close a deal in 2044. Is it would it be comparable to like that of like a brain dance then for them? Sort of, yeah. That's actually really accurate.
Retro. Yeah. Yeah, because like, yeah, you could do a brain dancing, doing all kinds of drugs, but I'll be honest, all the ones I've seen never ever felt like actually doing them. Oh God, way better. Yeah, I agree. Yeah, I, I, I just wanted to make sure that see if anybody had any like major red flags so far. There's. A lot. Yeah, such as? I mean, let's be honest, we're all not the most of the highest caliber, the highest caliber moral, ethical people. A domino.
I've been blacks more than we do. Again, probably out of experience, but I mean, maybe in the same sense of their own experience because they've been doing this underground stuff a lot longer. And I'm sure they probably know enough stories, enough of gossip that's been going around that they might think that some of this stuff is actually, you know, what humans do. So you know, there's a thought there, there there is no safety.
I feel like some people I feel would think of like with any robots or robots or AI that there are safety parameters put in Domino don't have any of those. I mean, and you've seen how Domino, how strong Domino is. I know how. Fragile they are with what we've given them if we piss off Domino. Or if somebody does that, we're not. You know. That we're friends with or something. Yes, I, I see what you're getting at Tier Retro. That's how I'm like that.
I do now. Can you can you simplify that for me? Jeff, you ever get that feeling when you have an immense amount of emotion, rage, sadness, something like that, and you potentially do something that you feel you didn't have control of because something else took over? Oh, oh, yeah. I mean, whenever someone has ever fucked with Sloane, oh, it's like I become some sort of, you know, the beast inside becomes how you know, and I and I've done some terrible things
to people. Yeah. Now imagine if you were the size and weight of Vanna White and you, we really don't have any experience to be able to control those. Self-control. You're saying he's a meat space thing? I mean, self-control is really a fallacy. Do we really have self-control? Do we convince ourselves that we do? But that's more introspective,
really. It's like almost in some ways Domino has a bit of naivety to the world because he doesn't have the experience in the meat space as all of the years that we have had. So that could result in some sort of reactions or lash outs or things that would be of concern. I'm wondering if I should put some sort of parameters in place to make sure that doesn't happen or just give Domino complete free will and not worry about it and if it happens then it happens.
Is it ethical to take away Domino's free will? That's another good question. You say as you all arrive outside of sharks carts. Well, I suppose we can table this one because we got. To go, we got other tables to to sit at. Yes, I you're right, we don't need the answer right now. So I just wanted to check with everybody. But OK. But Phoebe, yes, I do have to ask. Why did you ask? Are you concerned?
Yes, just a little bit. I just, I, I just, there's some behaviours in Domino that could be concerning. So I am a little worried that something bad might happen. Well, I'm glad my talk earlier helped. I mean, honestly, like, you know, the way that it was, I thought that you were on their side and you know, there was like this, you know, kind of leaning towards in on that, like there was like some kind of like spark connection between y'all but. So. So you don't find him sexy anymore?
Why? Would. They I no I I do still. Ayanna. What you just have to let her go through it. We all, we all have to go through our own experiences and and if she needs to go through a little crush, she can. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that. That's why maybe that is also why I'm just concerned, you know, then I'm bringing these things up. There's nothing wrong with Chad. Or a. Little of concern. You know, having a little bit of concern is a great, great way to keep you safe.
Yes, but that's it, doesn't it doesn't matter. There's nothing to to get all huffy puffy about Retro. Let's. Let's go gamble and have fun. Let's do it. Well, fuck it. Hey, what are we all dude sitting in in in Vantal. What? Everybody out Let's. Go you, you. Come on you. Go. Stay you are. OK, I'm coming. I'm ready. Let's get in there. Oh, it, it looks like there's there's a lot of people tonight. It's. Busy tonight? Wow, yeah, look at that did.
You have like an event going on. Excuse me. Excuse me? Their bodyguard stops you at the door. Excuse me? Oh. Don't you know I stepped to the front. I own a Papasco. Yes, sorry I didn't realize that they were with you. That's. All right, I mean. No, no, I, I, I I don't need to check your weapons. Why would you shoot up a place you own? I'm not. You seem like a good guy, you working all night. Yes. Are you allowed to drink on the job?
After 10. You should come have a shot of moonshine with me. Fuck you, Atrium. And you could do a fist bone. Yeah. After 10. I the. Cowboy's funny. Thanks. I'm going to pull. Nothing on purpose. Do I have any? Let me see. I'm going to. I'm going to go through my bag to see if I have any cash eddies. Sure. Like yeah, any chips in here do do do. Run me two details. Yes, I will. I sure will, Boo. You find 50 bucks worth of chips in your bag.
None of them. I, I, I, I'm sorry that it's multiple chips, but here, this is for you. Keep up the good work. And I I hand him the handful of any chips. You give him the 50, the $50.00 in chips. Amazing. Oh, thanks, that's actually really nice. And he opens up a little bag that shakes, and he throws some chips into it. The worker gets a bonus. Nice. As you step into the room, the room is full of people. There are people playing cards, but you hear a new sound in here, Iona.
On the far N wall you see four slot machines. Oh. Oh. I love. Oh, do you hear that? That little Ding, a lingle jingling? Oh, it's music. Oh, oh, here they are spinning it again. Oh wow, that's nice. Are you all? Are you all right? I didn't, I didn't realize how much I like the sound of, of gosh, what do you call those spinning machines? Slot machines? Because the slots they, they spin, I do. I'm not here very often. Oh. OK. It's obviously shark. Well, those.
Those are new additions. To. This place. I think I'm just going to go do that. I'm excuse me, I'm going. I just go walk straight to the slot machine. I got, I got to be honest, I do love my one armed bandit. So I'm go ahead and follow you all. Right. Jeb and Iona head over to the slot machines. To the rest of you, grab a slot machine. There aren't any slot machines left, actually, because only four and two of them were occupied. So the rest of you should find a
table and play some cards. Yep, high rollers table. Let's go. I'm just kidding. We think in poker or blackjack. I I'm a poker gal personally. I mean, I'd like blackjack too, but I'm I'm a poker gal. It is blackjack night. Oh, it's blackjack night. Let's go blackjack. All right, let's do blackjack. Let's do blackjack. All right, there's a table free to the South side. There's enough seats for you all all. Right.
Deal us in. As you sit down the the table lights up and somebody steps through the back door. A dealer stands at your table to give you cards. Ping sits down next to Retro, Bendel sits down next to VB and you settle in before the dealer deals. They look at you all. Would any of you like a drink? Yeah, I'll take one. What would you like good? Question. Just whatever the house drink is if there is one. Well, we have a, we have a neon martini, we have just plain old beer.
And then there's like some sodas, there's a kibble infused chocolate thing. Neon Martini. Right, neon martini for the lady and for you. Oh. Crackles. And for you, yeah, I. Was the rest of the table. I'm, I'm. Oh, I was waiting for the rest of the table to order. Yeah, give me moonshine. I'll take a shot every 30 minutes. Why that mixed up with the we'll say modello rello kick back with some pickle juice. Interesting. Interesting choice, retro. What's the What's the moonshine
kick? Oh, it's, it's just a thing when I go gambling because I tend to burn it all down around here. I see. I'll, I'll, I'll have a glass of white, please white for you, Yes, and I'll have a a whiskey. Just pick. Is that a liquor consent, that is? The dealer goes to get your drinks and while those drinks are being acquired, Iona sits down at a slot machine. Oh my gosh. All right. A lot of time. Jeb's looking behind you, feel like you know it's right behind
you. Jeb's right behind you, I owner and you're sitting in front of Sharks new slot machines he's had installed. Each spin is 10 eddies, so how many spins are you going to put in? I'll put in 100 eddies to start. Right. The machine maxes out at 60 eddies at a time. Fine, I put in 60. What a. Stupid number, yeah. I've only got. 600. On the spin I. Know I'm sorry and I have to do weird maths. Do you pull the leather? One second, let me finish my maths, pull the lever.
I'm studying here so I got a spade, a blood a two times. What is that? Night City, a diamond and a club. That's the no latency logo. OK, I'm just double check. I know what it is. Is this Iona know what it is? I would think so. We got custom no latency on our slot machines. That's amazing. Did you talk to ping about that we have at the table? No, you see, you can see. You can see it from across the room while you're waiting for
your drink. What whoa ping did you get like some sort of collaboration with Sharks? They got no latency logos on the slots. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Wow, Shark. Shark just asked. I didn't see why it would hurt. Me there you. Go Wow, that would make a great sticker, isn't it? Yeah. So Iona, you can now hold any of these to do another spin. I will hold the times 2 in the middle, the times two night city no latency logo and re spin the rest.
OK, the slots are labeled with numbers if you find that easy. Oh perfect, I hate that. All right, I'm holding 2345 so I'll just re roll one, which is a blank space. That's all right. I have more spins. I will re roll 1 again again again. I think that's my last one. We have two more. The machine let's out a real big klaxon noise and presets. It takes all of your money. I really thought you're going to get something there I. Don't. I really thought I was too. I forgot which.
I hate gambling, but this is fun. Again. Again you. Should really. So while Iona goes to roll slots again, Jeb, there is another slot open. Do you sit down? Oh well, you know, I suppose I feel like I could do a little better than that. I'll take my chances, Eddie. How many spins do you buy? How much is it per spin? 10. 10 per spin, OK. And that's. 3456 up to six. Well, I suppose I'll do. When you put 50 eddies into the slot machine. All right, you pull the amies. No amies, no amies.
No amies, no amies starting. Off it's all Oh. Oh, automatic fail. At least that was a quick, you know. And Jeb, you lose 50 eddies. Go. I go back over. I go back over to. I want to. Well, I suppose I'm back looking over your shoulder. Meanwhile, back at the blackjack table, your drinks have arrived and the dealer deals you some cards. Dealer has six and three. Phoebe, you're first. Yes, I would like to get another card. I keep going. Oh, I'm going to hold.
The doctor holds. Yes. I'm oh. And Vendel turns to you BB. I don't I've got I've got 17, I've got a Jack and A7. Do you think should I just stick? What do you second is such a hard one. That is a tough one, yeah. Best to play it safe and just hold. OK, I, I I'm going to stick is that. What you say? I say hold. It doesn't matter. OK, You you got this. Ping looks up from their hand, smiles, and taps the table. Oh. Ping's a professional. No. I'll stick. Says Ping.
I'm retro. It's, you know. Two cuts. No double. Double the bet. OK. So now it's 10. Not table. The dealer plays. 13, 14. Everyone except retro gets 10 eddies, but retro gets 20. Nice. Wow. And you don't even have to reveal your cards. Another hand, everyone. Yeah, you can get another shot of this moon shining. Another hand is played at the table. Retro takes a sip of his drink, and it's Phoebe's turn. You've all bet 5. I think I'm going to hold, OK.
