First They Came…

In Germany they first came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.

I don’t think that those times are coming back, but I feel a rising wave of, not just xenophobia, but discrimination against everyone perceived as different. As Twain said, history doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.

Non credo che quei tempi stiano tornando, ma avverto un’ondata crescente, non già di xenophobia, ma discriminazione verso chiunque sia percepito come diverso. Come disse Twain, la storia non si ripete, ma fa rima.
