Protesters and Controversy Surrounding Seinfeld Show

Speaker 1

You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right . Well , I'd like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right , there's only an up or down .

Speaker 2

This is the no Doubt About it . Podcast . No doubt about it , and now your hosts , Kristie and Mark Runcetti . Why fire you ?

Speaker 4

can't care for the sound . Happy residence day everybody .

Speaker 3

Oh , my goodness .

Speaker 4

No school , no school . Today , a couple of girls we know personally are fully celebrating that , one of them being Ava Runcetti , who is here today to punch the show .

Speaker 3

Hello , you may sense a little difference in Ava's voice , because now she has wrapped up her inaugural season on the swim team .

Speaker 4

That's right .

Speaker 3

Ava , very proud of your work at the Academy on Saturday .

Speaker 5

I appreciate it .

Speaker 3

Very good work Really surprised everybody there . You did shock the world .

Speaker 4

You shocked the world .

Speaker 6

I actually made state for every single competition . What ?

Speaker 3

You made state .

Speaker 6

Every event .

Speaker 4

That was what I call a lie . Listen , what we're proud of , ava , is the fact that you went out there , did something that you were not really comfortable doing and that I will never do again . Hey , that's fine If that's the direction you choose to go , but it is really hard . I think it's incredibly .

I mean , I told you I tried to learn how to swim , to do a triathlon . I quit .

Speaker 3

Yeah , it ended up being a biathlon it was a sad , sad Santa Fe fair . I had somebody else to do the swim part .

Speaker 4

So yeah , that's how you worked that out , but Ava did not quit . You actually were put into a pretty hard situation for yourself yesterday doing the 100 meter .

Speaker 6

I did a walking two laps .

Speaker 3

I had never done them before .

Speaker 4

I was like what's your ? Goal . You said you didn't want to go off and you didn't die .

Speaker 3

And that was your goal . You said I just don't want to die .

Speaker 6

This is true . You survived and you guys won your heat , which was nice . You guys think we could call Riley Gaines . Yeah , we should call her again . She was in town last week .

Speaker 3

We should get back in touch with Riley . I kind of miss her .

Speaker 4

I'm coming for your spot . She would be excited . There's no doubt I was in a little bit of a mental and global . I was almost bleeding into Albuquerque . Now , on a more localized front , as a little surprise for Mark , I bought him Jerry Seinfeld tickets for his birthday last fall and then Seinfeld showed up here on Friday One of Mark's most favorite comedians .

I have to say .

Speaker 3

Yeah , he's up there with Sebastian . Yeah , up there with Sebastian .

Speaker 4

What's the other guy we like ?

Speaker 3

Oh , it's Pete Correale , and there's .

Speaker 4

Nate .

Speaker 3

Burgazzi he's fantastic , yeah , so that's kind of what we're going to talk about at the beginning of this .

We're going to hit on a few different stories , but we are going to start with the Seinfeld story Because we sort of are seeing some , I think we're concerning trends right now , I think , in the country and in the state as a whole , and the way things are playing out here , because we went to the Seinfeld show .

It wasn't just about comedy , especially on the way in . No , not at all .

Speaker 4

We obviously try to find that scary place to park downtown and figure out how you're going to get there . And Mark , of course , is like how can I get out of this area the fastest after the show ?

Speaker 3

Yeah , because if you park at the Well , yeah , and the goal is because you have a parking lot at the Kiva where you can't get out . You'll literally sit there for an hour . So I was like I just don't want to do that .

Speaker 4

He's trying to do his dad who wants to sit in a parking garage for an hour it's gone .

Speaker 3

A whole new level for you guys .

Speaker 4

You're the guy that's like it's three minutes before the end of the show and you're like we better go . We better get out of here . We got to beat traffic and I'm like when does that happen ?

Speaker 6

Do you turn like ?

Speaker 4

40 , and then you're like I got to beat traffic .

Speaker 3

Yeah , yeah , I got it .

Speaker 4

You're right , it is like my dad Patriots , cowboys football game , you tell that whole story about him wanting to beat traffic .

Speaker 3

Yeah , so we lost the Herschel Walker touchdown right .

Speaker 4

Correct yes , and now you've turned into that guy , so you need to apologize to Sal . Is what ?

Speaker 3

I think is happening . You've turned into Sal a little bit .

Speaker 4

We were not talking about getting into the show . It was really what was a pretty controversial situation that was happening as we came across into the doors group of protesters outside the front . They were funneling us all in to see the show through some security guards and through some metal detectors , which you can see in this video if you're watching .

Speaker 3

Yeah , there's protesters all outside walking in front and then people are having to go through those metal detectors . You had a pretty good line out in front to try to get in .

Speaker 4

Yeah , absolutely . You know , maybe I'm just being a naive person , but I was not expecting to see protesters there . It didn't dawn on me , I didn't think that people would show up to protest Jerry Seinfeld , because he's a Jewish voice out there and he's a famous . Jewish comedian .

I guess I thought we would be a little bit more humane in this city , but apparently nope , we're going to just sneak on down and slip on down to the slum of the rest of the country .

Speaker 3

Well , it was interesting because it was funny because Jerry comes out and he says basically so you know , I'm a comedian and they're protesting me because I'm Jewish . I mean , that was basically , yeah , he goes .

Speaker 4

I don't know what kind of power you think I have . I don't make calls . I'm oh , wait a minute . Oh wait , you're not protesting me because I'm a celebrity . You're protesting me because I'm a Jew . You know he does have an ability to spin it , which is most comedians do , but just so embarrassing and I get the right to have protests .

I get all that nonsense . I totally understand that . I know it's part of our American policy , but this has gone to a level that I think is it's anti-semitic . You know anti-semitic . And I just think give me a break . This is a racist protest Like I've . It was blatantly in your face .

Speaker 3

Okay , so you make the point , it's a racist protest . So what was interesting was we walked in and the first thing you hear is that that rote line , that a lot of these people say so , ava , let's go to clip 2 , and this is some of what was happening in the last few days . We were going in .

Okay , so , from the river to the sea , palestine will be free . We've talked about this on the show a bunch . That means , basically , the land of Israel . They want Israelis , they want Jews off Israeli land . They've been on that land for 3,000 years . Never mind that . Never mind that .

They want them out , so that's basically getting rid of the Jewish state , and so what was amazing to me is , as we sat there , I'm just listening to what's happening and I'm listening to their bullhorn and what their organizer is trying to say , and so I started listening into this and , ava , we have clips three and four .

Now , some of this is hard to make out , but it was almost out of a comedy show in and of itself , because the guy on the bullhorn keeps trying to say no , no , we're not anti-Semitic , we're just anti-Zionist , meaning we're just Jewish . Jews should not have their own country , but we're okay with them existing .

Speaker 4

But we don't want their voices to be heard either , because they're carrying shame on you . Jerry signs as they walk around .

Speaker 3

It's crazy . So just take a listen to what they say here and it's absolutely , and I don't know if you can make it out . So we'll just try to listen to this and I'll tell you what they say after .

Speaker 9

A lot of the anti-Zionism is inherently anti-Semitic and I get that somehow . Someone Jewish is being turned by the religion .

Speaker 3

Okay . So what he's saying there is don't confuse anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism . Like he's literally on the bullhorn trying to make the case that he's not an anti-Semitic dirtbag . Like that's what he's trying to say .

Speaker 4

I feel like saying you need an education really quickly . I did notice most of these protesters were young .

Speaker 3

Oh very .

Speaker 4

Like they have just been spoon fed this information and they're just shelling it out . I'm like have you done any of your own research ? Do you know what a Zionist is ? Do you understand what you're saying ? Do you understand the history of Israel at all ?

Speaker 3

Do you understand it at ?

Speaker 4

all .

Speaker 3

And it is amazing . And so then this other quote , so you'll hear this a little bit , what he says over the bullhorn . And again , it's one thing to protest , it's another to be like , hey , we're here at the protest . I promise I'm not a dirtball , let me just try to draw a little distinction here .

And so what he says in this is there are more Jews in New York City than Israel . This lie that Judaism and Zionism are one in the same is appalling . Okay , so just listen to what he says here .

Speaker 6

Jews in New York City than there are all in Israel .

Speaker 8

There's a lie that Judaism and Zionism are one in the same is appalling .

Speaker 3

All right . So this lie that Judaism and Zionism are one in the same is appalling . So again he's trying to . Nobody's paying any attention to him , even his own protesters . They're out saying the worst things you can imagine .

Speaker 4

Yeah , he's like it was a really weird like . Again I thought are these guys for hire ? Are these guys actors ? Because , honestly , you have one guy who's like I'm acting like a protestor , but I'm really not Right , like he keeps trying to backpedal what he's saying .

Speaker 8

Right .

Speaker 4

Then you got another lady on the bullhorn I'm guessing 24 . She's just screaming every sort of anti-Semitic thing you could possibly really think of , really with from the river to the sea , blah , blah , blah , blah .

Speaker 3

Jerry , jerry go away .

Speaker 4

Jerry , jerry , have no say , or I can't remember all the I mean who also makes up their cheers is beyond me .

Speaker 3

Oh , I know they've got their their cheers . And he has something about Jerry and genocide and the Jerry supports which is just genocide . Jerry , shame on you .

Speaker 5

There we go , there we go One of them .

Speaker 4

There we go . Just ridiculous yeah .

Speaker 3

So you listen to this and you're just like what is what is happening Now ? Again , I think we all agree you should be able to have your say , and if you guys want to have a say and you want to say ridiculous anti-Semitic things , then fine , that that's where you are , that's who you are . Okay , that's your deal .

The thing that concerns me is we're starting to head into this territory in the state of New Mexico where these people are given a voice , like the rest of us share their thoughts , which we do not . We absolutely do not .

Controversy Surrounding Performers and Protests

And so when you went into the show and Jerry started talking about this you know he mentions it a couple of times right at the very beginning , some of the loudest applause he got , or when he went off on this and was just like you've got to be kidding me .

Speaker 7

Yeah .

Speaker 3

And everybody just stood up and was screaming , cheering about this , because we , as citizens of this state , shouldn't have to wear those ridiculous comments .

Speaker 4

No , I mean and I think you you saw the support from for him . I mean , also , I'm kind of sitting here going your game plan out front is ridiculous . You're protesting against people who paid a lot of money basically to go see Jerry Seinfeld . You were obviously supporting Jerry Seinfeld and you're protesting to us Like you're going to change our minds .

This is the way you're changing minds . People right here right now . I just felt like saying you're all paid actors and you all need to leave . Like , go get a job , go find something to do , go educate yourself , go take a history class on the Middle East and Israel's history . Please Do yourself a solid .

Speaker 3

Yeah , that will never happen .

Speaker 4

I won't , because this is , and I think they've got coordinated groups that followed Jerry Seinfeld around . He doesn't mention that , but I'm guessing any Jewish performer that this is kind of like let's go do this , let's go protest , all these Jewish comedians .

Speaker 3

Listen to what you're saying . Listen to the lunacy of what you're just saying , but I think it's true . That we literally now live in a country , over the past six months , where we're talking about the fact that there are groups going around protesting people for being Jewish . I mean , that's what this has become , I know .

And so to sit here and think that's acceptable or that's what the state of New Mexico is about , or that we , as New Mexicans , that's what we support , no , we don't , and it's disgusting , and I think people have to stand up and say that , and it's incumbent upon the media , when you're going to cover these things , to stand up and say by the way , you may

be covering a protest , but at the same time , realize that 75% of New Mexicans support the state of Israel . But you don't see that , do you ? I mean , that's the part that drives me crazy , and we'll show some of the media coverage of this in a second .

But so the Seinfeld show was great , and we'll have one little clip on that in just a minute , but it didn't stop with Jerry Seinfeld . This is not just a Seinfeld thing . There's also another issue , and that was so . There's a performer , basically a Jewish hip hop performer , medis Yahu , who's been around for a long time .

He's actually I had never heard his stuff before . All this . It's really pretty good Okay .

Speaker 4

I can't say who he is either .

Speaker 3

Yeah , so he came up and he had a show at Meow Wolf .

Speaker 4

He had a scheduled show ? Yeah , a scheduled show at .

Speaker 3

Meow Wolf , yeah , and so for those of you who don't know him , we're rolling some video on the YouTube channel right now . But he is somebody who does , you know , he does a lot of songs about peace , but he supports the nation of Israel . He's Jewish , he firmly supports it , he has a very strong faith , but he's not somebody who's out there .

Again , you know , the protests against him have been based on the fact that , again , he's Jewish , right , so that's that's what we're going with here . So he's got a sold out show at Meow Wolf ready to go , and then , two hours before the show starts , boom , meow Wolf pulls the rug out from under him and says we're canceling the show .

Okay , so here was the headline at KRQE and here's sort of what they said . They said hip hop fans were disappointed in Santa Fe on Wednesday when a sold out musical performance was canceled two hours before Mediciahu was scheduled to perform at Meow Wolf , and then they pulled the plug on them . So what does Meow Wolf say about this ?

Speaker 4

Oh , I'm sure that's some garbage , but let's hear it .

Speaker 3

Yeah , so Meow Wolf basically runs cover here for their own employees .

Speaker 4

Shocking .

Speaker 3

So here's what the vice president of public relations and communication says , katie Murphy . Yesterday we canceled the concert at the house of eternal return Two hours before the show was set to begin . We found ourselves without adequate staff to safely manage the sold out crowd . Wonder why they didn't have adequate staff , did they not fill out the schedule ?

Meow Wolf was like hey , can you work on Wednesday ? Yeah , I can work , okay , good , and you Okay , look . So we had to wait for the show to start and then suddenly five or six people short .

Speaker 4

Two hours beforehand . Two hours beforehand .

Speaker 3

Wonder why that would happen . Well , it's because , basically , it was a sick out . You had people who decided because there's a Jewish performer here , we can't have that happen . We can't let the Jew go up there and sing , can we ? We got to stop that . So here's what Mediciahu said when they started to look into what happened .

Speaker 6

When we looked into some of the people who decided not to show up for work 20 minutes before they were supposed to come in , we could see pretty clearly what their politics are , and they're definitely not on the side of Israel . So it's hard to know exactly what happened . But the same thing has now happened to me tonight . The venue has told us .

Now we're in Tucson , arizona , at the Rialto Theater . I've played here maybe 20 sold out shows in the past over my career . It's a very small Jewish crowd .

It's people that live in this town , that from the city , and they're not going to be allowed to come hear me perform tonight and sing one day , and sing these songs about peace and love in this time of darkness .

Speaker 4

So his show gets canceled at Meow Wolf and it suddenly gets canceled in Tucson .

Speaker 3

Tucson .

Speaker 4

Yeah , because I'm sure that was also lack of security .

Speaker 3

Yeah yeah , well , they said , that's exactly what they said . That's exactly what they said . This is a coordinated effort .

Speaker 4

It has to be a coordinated effort . It's embarrassing . I would say if you give $1 to Meow Wolf , it's a mistake right now and that's really all we could probably do on our front here in New Mexico . I wouldn't give Meow Wolf another dollar .

I would say listen , unless you can get your staff on board to actually do their job , which is to be a security guard or to sell a ticket or to escort people into their seats or whatever it is that their job is , do your job . It's not being a racist , disgusting human and expect us to keep supporting that as consumers .

Speaker 3

And I can't believe you listen to you say that , and I can't believe we now live in a country where we're talking about the fact that places like Meow Wolf , in places all across the country now , are starting to say nope , sorry , we're not going to allow the Jew to get up there and do his thing .

Speaker 4

Because of security . We cannot allow this .

Speaker 3

We cannot allow this . Is this really the country we live in ?

Speaker 4

It's embarrassing , so okay . So I'd love to hear how our media covering this amazing I'm sure they're going really like showing both sides of the issue .

Speaker 3

Well , so here's the thing . So , given all the protests over the past couple of weeks , a bunch of the new stations have done some stuff here and I want to go through a couple of examples . One example is a positive example of how this should be done , and it was Channel 7 who did that .

And then I want to go through another example of either bias , incompetence or laziness all wrapping into one , and what happens when those unholy trinity combine into a story , where it's just incredibly slanted and poorly done .

Media Bias in Reporting on Protests

So want to start with a story , and this is a reporter from Channel 4 . And what she does is I want you to listen to her framing of the story , which is called her intro , and then we start to run the package a little bit .

This is only like a 12 second clip and I just want you to listen to it for a second and then we'll kind of talk about it and then I'll play you another clip from the story . Okay , so just listen to how this sets up .

This is about the protests and about what's happening in the state of New Mexico , and the framing on this story is basically that New Mexicans are coming out against the nation of Israel . That's really what the just listen to the framing of this .

Speaker 7

I spoke to a statewide organization to give us some perspective on how New Mexicans are feeling .

Speaker 3

Okay , who's the statewide organization ? But hold on , we want justice , you stay out .

Speaker 7

More than 100 days into the Israel-Palestine conflict , New Mexicans continue to hold the line calling for a ceasefire in Palestine Resistance is justified Okay .

Speaker 4

New Mexicans are .

Speaker 3

New Mexicans are All the New Mexicans . I spoke to a statewide organization to tell me what New Mexicans think . Okay , so I'm sure this story knowing that , knowing what New Mexicans think , 70 plus percent support the nation of Israel , she went on this story for two and a half minutes , completely one-sided .

That completely one-sided , against not only Israel , but for Hamas and people that support Hamas , it was awful and it was completely slanted and there was no counterbalance to any of it . So she let whatever they felt like saying , she let it go without any pushback , without any anything , and just let it rip .

So I want you to just listen to another portion of this story . Believe me , you can go to Channel 4 and listen to the rest of it , but it's just . This is the kind of horrendous media work that I have such a problem with because it's so incompetent and it does not present a balanced view of anything . So just listen to this .

Speaker 7

Just the latest of protests statewide in New Mexico . On Wednesday , Miao Wolf canceled controversial musician Maricia , whose concert after they were flooding , she called him controversial because he's Jewish . Because of his strong support for Israel .

Speaker 9

Zionism is a form of racism and we are fighting against racism for everyone . That's why there are tons of Jewish people as part of this movement , but we're working side by side with Muslims and Christians and Catholics .

Speaker 7

Organizers we spoke to .

Speaker 3

So hold on , listen to what he just said . Okay , zionism is racism , meaning the Jews being able to have their own homeland , which they've been on for 3,000 years . That shouldn't be allowed . That's actually racism . No pushback on it . And then he slanders Catholics . He slanders other religions , saying they're all supporting him .

Now , it would take two seconds for this reporter to make a call to the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and say by the way , this guy says he's working with Catholics to do this . Now guarantee you they'll come back and say uh-uh , not us , he's not working with us . This is where context is important . And then you step up and you get .

The other side Didn't do it , none of it .

Speaker 4

And also , why would she not just say hey , listen , explain this to me then , guy . Like you're saying that Zionist is racism , but yet your response back is from the river to the sea , palestine will be free , which is to wipe out the uh , the nation of Israel , wipe out the Jewish population there .

You're not presenting the hey two , you know two country kind of theory .

Speaker 3

No , it's not a two state solution . They're not for a two state solution , they're for like let's wipe out the Jewish nation .

Speaker 4

And so how is that Like ? I don't understand even why that reporter wouldn't say how do you stand by that ? How how are , how ? Is that not racist ?

Speaker 3

So this is what concerns is that you start seeing the reaction . What happens when Seinfeld comes in and it's Yahoo comes in ? So all of a sudden we're the state that starts , you know , and she calls it controversial this Jewish singer about peace .

Speaker 4

I would love to know to this reporter how you deem him as controversial because he supports Israel , and so now you say he's controversial .

Speaker 3

Yeah , yeah , it's amazing . So how do you do it right ? How do you do it in a way that again , not asking it for people who want to protest and want their inane , racist ideas heard you can have that . That's all you . You can do that . It's not that it shouldn't be covered , or it or it shouldn't be platformed , whatever .

So how do you do it the right way ? Well , channel 7 is a good example of that . They did a good job . Listen to Channel 7 . Hi , Good job , you got a heart . This is at the Seinfeld You're supporting genocide .

Speaker 7

Protesters also surrounding the doors to the convention center . Jewish comedian Jerry Seinfeld's event just inside the doors .

Speaker 8

Silencing the voices of artists based on their race , religion , national origin or identity , and that this sets a dangerous precedent .

Speaker 7

Benjamin from the Jewish Community Relations Center says this might impact other performers .

Speaker 8

This will give other artists pause before they perform or exhibit in New Mexico . If we become perceived as a place where artists are only welcome selectively , ok , so that's Zach Benjamin who makes that point , which is exactly right .

Speaker 3

So , if we become the place where , if you're Jewish , I don't think so . That's horrendous . That's not what the state of New Mexico represents , that's not what everybody I know in this state represents , and that's what's so dangerous about this , is the thought process that , oh yeah , we just keep those Jews out of here , because that's what this becomes .

And so what Channel 7 does a good job with is they say , ok , you just got Zach's opinion , which I happen to agree with . Yeah , but what else do you do ?

Speaker 4

You can go get the other opinion of course You've got to get Alex the moron . You've got to get him to give his opinion to .

Speaker 3

OK , well , let's see if they do it .

Speaker 7

Protester what their goal was .

Speaker 9

I hope that Anyone who's platforming the racist ideology of Zionism and siding with the soldiers who are committing genocide , I hope that they do lose their platforms .

Speaker 4

I hope they lose their platforms . I hope that people remember

Media Bias and Anti-Semitism Controversy

that . On october what was it ? Seventh , how many jewish people , innocent jewish people , were killed . Babies burned in ovens while they raped their mother , killed their dad , killed their children . Where are where ? Do we remember all the negative stuff that happened ?

These guys were innocently attacked , and now you want to get on some bandwagon and say , well , now they're creating a genocide . No , if they stop now , do you think Hamas is going to be like okay , we're done , we're never going to go after israel , ever again ?

Or do you think that they're just going to regroup , like they've done Over and over and over , and come back and try to kill israel again ? If israel does not stand up for themselves , these guys will come back again for them , and I do not know how one single person In this country does not understand that well , I completely agree with you .

Speaker 3

I think that , look , their ignorance Isn't my problem . What my problem is with is , you're right , the deep platforming that this alex murdoch or whatever . Alex moron murdoch Well whatever he said , he said he's the same guy in each story , right ?

Speaker 4

Oh , I know you got company spokesperson Right . Alex is from . Yeah , I don't know .

Speaker 3

Yeah , I don't know where they ship him in from right but , but that's the point is that this guy Goes out and says these ridiculous , inane things Okay , which are stupid .

However , what channel seven does a good job of is they allow someone who can make a solid point , and then , if you want an idiot who wants to go out there and say these things that are completely unhinged , okay , that gives people the opportunity to make a choice . That's what your job is in media it's to create balance and let people hear it .

Now , sometimes you can't totally have a balanced story , but they even in this story , which is clearly , I think , a story that that's that most of the state falls on one side of . Okay , but at least you gave both sides , and that's something that the too often .

And you see what the channel four story they don't do it , they don't do it and they don't do it . I don't know if they're incompetent or they're biased or they're both . I think they may be both , but whatever I mean it's , it's . It's awful to watch an industry that I spent 25 years in and love .

You see them put people out front and do things in such an incompetent way . And the problem is right now , when you don't give A good story and a good accounting to a story like what we saw with the Seinfeld story or the mediciaheux story , where you have a very small number of protesters and then the rest of the state who disagrees with them .

If you don't balance that story out to give the other side , you do a tremendous disservice . And they do it all the time .

Speaker 4

And I , you know , I know that again , I some maybe have some theories that aren't actually true , because I don't I haven't actually researched it but I I have a hard time believing that some of these organizations Aren't more on a national front and that they're not collaborating to say , hey , listen , we've got Jerry Seinfeld going over here and we've got this

Jewish artist going this way and we've got this guy over here . What are we going to do to , like , sir , you know , get the forces together ? I mean it's no different . I mean it's different because it's spreading hate , but it's different , it's no different .

Like , say , a political event or something where you have people traveling and trying to gather people together For a cause . I believe this is a collaborated effort . I , I think that this is coordinated .

I think it is scary , I think it is 100 racist and I cannot believe that this is where we are landing , as Not only a country , but here in New Mexico that we would . I'm embarrassed . I'm horribly embarrassed For who we represented .

To Jerry Seinfeld , I felt like we've done similar things to Riley Gaines , when she has shown up and made a full out of ourselves there too as well . I just feel like we've lost our minds . We've let a small voice in this state be so loud and and represent everyone , and that is such a downfall and disservice for us .

Speaker 3

And they don't represent everyone , and that's the point , right ?

The point is , the vast majority of us agree and are on the side of Israel in this whole thing and even if you're not on their side , representing it as if there's a huge part of the population , like channel 4 did that says , you know , we want this or we want that from the conflict in Israel is is ludicrous . I mean , it's just maddening to watch .

So , anyway , we wanted to talk about that . I want to end with something positive on this story . Yeah , and that is that . Um , so at the end , uh , the reception for Seinfeld was so good that he came back out and answer questions .

Speaker 4

Yeah , I think this was great because this would be hard to do . Yeah he came back out and was like basically Okay , ask me your best questions right and I'll see what I can do right , so he just answers a question

Albuquerque Police Chief's Wild Encounter

.

Speaker 3

So one of the questions and again he was encouraging people that you could , you know , record if you want to or don't , it didn't matter . So he just talked about what it was like to work with Michael Richards Kramer . And so someone asked him that question about Kramer and what was it like ? And it was , it was funny .

So he gave this little anecdote about Michael Richards .

Speaker 1

And I you could . If you watch the show you can see I'm laughing . He's so funny to me , they all were so funny , but he in particular had one of those faces and he knew the closer his face got to my face it was be harder , and you could see my mouth quivering in a lot of the episode . This is how unprofessional we are . We didn't even fix that .

But whatever the show you saw , I saw Michael in , like IMAX Anyway so , so that's it .

Speaker 8

Yeah , it was very cool .

Speaker 3

It was very cool show and I think the response to him in the room he could feel that how positive the response was . It was really good .

Speaker 9

Yeah , it was good Okay .

Speaker 3

All right , so we have an onion story . Yeah , you guys have heard about the onion . It's a satirical website that does stories that are not true . It's sort of like the Babylon B . This is really the the . The better version of it now is the Babylon B , which does is completely satire , right . But this story which we're about to share with you .

Sounds like satire Out of the city of albuquerque .

Speaker 4

Okay , so here's . When you sent me this headline , I thought you were joking .

Speaker 3

Oh , no , no , this is I mean , it's unbelievable . Check out the headline right here . And for those of you who don't live in new Mexico , uh , you're not gonna believe this . Albuquerque police chief involved in a crash while fleeing gunfire on east central .

So our police chief , herald madina , was headed to a press conference to talk about crime right when he sees a I'd say a dust up Occurs on a on a sidewalk . So he pulls up in his truck . He has his wife in the truck . Unmarked apd unit pulls up . These guys start arguing with each other . One of them whips out a gun .

Okay , start shooting at the other guy . Medina's like I'm out of here . He hops in his truck with his wife and the truck . They go barreling through an intersection and he hits a vintage Mustang in the intersection and sends the guy to the hospital . Sends a guy to the hospital . He's like I'm gone , brother . Yeah , you're not pulling out a gun with me .

Yeah , I'm gone . Yeah , I had a here , I'm just a police chief . Yeah , I can't be here dealing with this garbage .

Speaker 4

I only talk about crime . I don't actually deal with it .

Speaker 3

No , I mean , my goodness , I mean his wife's in the car . I know I can't understand like I get that he's got to be scared . I , yeah , I'm not , I'm not begrudging him , for I mean I heck , I run for the dang hills too , yeah . So here's what his spokesman had to say At the scene of the the crime , I guess .

Speaker 4

I'm guessing to like let me just add to this if , if you're the police chief and you see a Dustup happening and you don't really want to get involved , okay , like he really didn't want to get involved , he just wanted to . I think what I read was he was pulling over and he was gonna call other officers to show up .

Speaker 3

Sure , right what you would expect .

Speaker 4

Yeah okay , but like you got your wife there , so maybe pull up a little farther if you don't want to get into any sort of your wife in any sort of danger .

Speaker 3

Well , how was he to know , though ? He pulls up and all of a sudden , you know you got a little situation , but if there's no , I understand that .

Speaker 4

How's he to know ? I don't know . Pay attention to our crime situation . Pay attention that people are freaking loony because they're on all kinds of drugs . Here you got people that are just doing the most insane , dangerous things . Now , I don't know .

Use common sense in that situation and just I , if I didn't want somebody to be in danger , I wouldn't have stopped right next to that to call people in and then just put my wife in the line of fire .

Speaker 3

Well , it's unreal . I mean really . You pull up to a thing , you're like hey , let me just make sure I go . Oh my god , you turn around and you're out , all right . So here's what his spokesman had to say about it All right , you guys ready .

Speaker 4

Oh yeah , we're ready . Please enlighten us .

Speaker 5

So about 9 25 am this morning chief Medina was on his way to this area town For a news conference we had planned at 10 o'clock over at the Adam market at Central and Pennsylvania .

Chief was had his wife with him in his truck on the way the news conference and as they drove up central he noticed a homeless encampment over on Alvarado , just north of Central . He noted . It appeared to him that the cabinet was blocking the sidewalk so he took a turn around the block to go and check .

He didn't notice that they're blocking the encampment and he was in the process of notifying the commander of the area so they could come and Remove the encampment because it was blocking that sidewalk

Unbelievable Travel Mishaps and Strange Stories

. While he was at the stop sign , headed faced southbound at Central , the chief noticed two individuals who started they got into a fight , a physical altercation with each other .

As he was turning on his police radio to call it out , he noticed that one of them brandished a gun , one person kicked the other individual and that individual started firing shots in the direction of where the chief was in his truck . At that point the treat the chief pulled forward in his vehicle .

Another car was coming in a different direction and they crashed into each other . The individual that had the gun and fired the shots fled on foot . The other individual who was shot at was not injured . He stuck around for a little bit , but then he left the scene .

Speaker 3

Okay , so hold on a second . All right , what is good enough immediately . So wait a minute , so wait . So the guy who fires it , did they ever get him ?

Speaker 4

not from what we read yesterday .

Speaker 3

I mean I fire shots at the chief of police . We still don't know where that guy is .

Speaker 4

No , no , we don't . It's where we're busy crashing into other people and sending them to the hospital .

Speaker 3

And then the guy who witnessed it . All he's gone to he's gone .

Speaker 4

The guy that was supposedly in the dust up as well . He's gone . He's got things to do . I mean , all of it seems so Like I honestly thought Something's fishy with this story , like I just thought it just doesn't lie , not like can this really have happened the way it happened ? Yes , yes it can .

Speaker 3

Yes , lootacy , the fact of the matter is you asked that question . Yeah , and yeah it can . Yeah , the chief of police can pull up and be like Whoa , there's some guns here , everybody's firing at everyone . I'm gonna go ahead and bail and then he goes and hit somebody on his way out so we can get the heck out of there .

That is absolutely something that could happen .

Speaker 4

Oh my gosh . I mean , that's where we are . I hope the guy that was in the car Leagues okay that he's okay , yeah .

Speaker 3

Yeah , oh , but he's in a vintage Mustang oh man .

Speaker 9

That's a good looking car .

Speaker 3

Yeah , okay , so one more quick thing before I let turn this over to you . I don't know if you know this . I saw this article in the Wall Street Journal . Did you know that we have a , a bomb called the ginsu ? Hmm is part of our arsenal .

Speaker 4

Okay , the Pentagon uses I don't know , but go ahead Fair point , but that's good point . Announce that we have this well .

Speaker 3

I mean , look , here's the deal , it's a six-bladed ginsu weapon . So what we do with it is the reason we have the ginsu is , if you're trying to take out somebody and you don't , and you know they're in a populated area , you bring in the ginsu . You drop the ginsu in .

It basically Slices up the the when this particular case a car so slices up the car and takes out the terrorist . In fact , this is what the ginsu looks like and it's got those blades that come rotating through , so it doesn't flashlight ? Yeah , it doesn't explode , it just basically Well blends everyone that's in that area and then they're done .

In fact , they used it Going after somebody who was I think it was one of the Commanders of Hezbollah in Syria . So they went after him . So the modify it's a modified hellfire missile which is used inside the inside the military . They refer to it as the flying ginsu , we're calling the popular knife sold on the TV in the 70s .

So they used it to target Abu Bukhar al-Sadi , the Hezbollah leader in Syria . The US use of the ginsu and Baghdad had not previously been disclosed , but that's unbelievable .

Speaker 4

I think what's unbelievable about this story is that we would do a story in the press about our secret special weapons .

Speaker 3

Well , I don't know how special the ginsu .

Speaker 4

I feel like that's a weird thing for us to be putting out there .

Speaker 3

I don't know . I think you're just like listen , we got the ginsu , so don't don't . I think we have .

Speaker 4

I think we have the ginsu , and we don't need to tell you that we got the ginsu . We have other stuff too .

Speaker 3

We're not gonna put in the New York Times . I guarantee the guys who we're going after with the ginsu yeah no we've got the ginsu .

Speaker 4

Okay , All right whatever . I don't know , I just think it's . That's a weird story right there .

Speaker 3

I think it's fantastic story . I'm proud to be an American .

Speaker 4

All right , I'm always proud to be an American server . Thank you for your service . Well , I understand speaking of I don't know Anything like we're all starting to think about spring break because it's cold and what's . I'm really that cold here in New Mexico . I'm just a little soft , as Marcus said .

I've gotten soft in my old age on that , on how cold I think it's been . But anyway , we're all kind of starting to think , okay , can we get somewhere for spring break ? Can we start planning our summer vacations ? Where are we gonna go ? I don't think we're going to go anywhere now , mark , because I'm reading these horrific stories about travel .

Yeah , like in a week's time . These are some headlines I'd like to share with you .

Speaker 3

Okay , Go for it .

Speaker 4

The first one maggots reportedly fall onto passengers from overhead bin on a Delta flight , with rotting fish found in a carry-on . Yeah , that's right people , a Delta Airlines flight DL-133 . It was on its way from Detroit to Amsterdam .

Yeah , and as they're traveling , all these maggots start falling onto people from a bin right above them , a storage bin , and apparently they had to turn that plane around . They were two hours into an eight-hour flight . They had to turn it around and fly back the two hours .

Speaker 3

Because of maggots .

Speaker 4

Because of maggots , right ? Well , do you want maggots flying on you ?

Speaker 3

No , I want the flight to continue to get me where I need to go . I don't need to go out halfway and then back all the way through while maggots are falling on me the whole time .

Speaker 4

Okay , here's a little question , though is number one how did security not catch the maggots in this carry-on ? Number one . Number two why is a guy got a rotting fish in his suitcase ?

Speaker 3

Hold on . What do you think they have ? Like a maggot stector . I don't know what I'm just saying . What do you think is happening ? Oh , no , sir . Okay , there's maggots in there . We cannot allow that on .

Speaker 4

Okay . So what do you think happened ? You think the little maggots were able to unzip their little carry-on and jump out into the Like . Honestly , they had to have been on the outside of that suitcase .

Speaker 3

There's no way you're . You don't put a suitcase into the whatever the X-ray machine or whatever it is , and you think the maggots are just crawling all over the outside of the suitcase .

Speaker 4

Well , I think these got to be the smartest maggots you've ever heard in your life , because if they are obviously two hours into a flight and they are able to parachute themselves down from a suitcase inside of a bin to land on the people below them , that's disgusting .

Speaker 3

You should think they're like there's some airborne unit in that stector Well , I don't know , but I'm just thinking .

Speaker 4

I think the Delta flight was probably like . We have no idea what this is . Do we have bugs throughout the whole plane ? Like we got to get this plane out of the sky .

Speaker 3

We got to figure out what's going on . Yeah , just don't turn around . Open up the thing and let's look at the maggots .

Speaker 4

Oh , I don't know , maybe they didn't , maybe they thought so , who knows what they got ?

Speaker 3

Wait long enough . There'll be flies If they keep doing this going back and forth . It's just ridiculous . Okay , number two , here we go .

Speaker 4

A passenger kicked off a WestJet flight for excessive bathroom use After a trip to Mexico . This woman was coming home from Mexico . Apparently she had a stomach . Her stomach was pretty upset , and so she had gone to the restroom a handful of times . Yeah , ava's chime in on this one and I don't know MonoZoom was revenge .

I'm not sure what her situation was , but apparently she went to the bathroom too many times before takeoff and they escorted her off of the plane . Okay , so that sounds disturbing .

Speaker 3

Okay , then we move on . That's one of those tough ones you never know when you're going to be in that spot .

Speaker 4

Right . I guess they don't know if she's got some sort of illness that's going to wipe out the whole plane , or if she's just .

Speaker 3

I don't know if I Is there . A certain number of times You're like this is four , yeah , If we get to five you're out .

Speaker 4

Well , that was what a lot of the comments were like I guess I won't use the bathroom anymore . I might get booted from my flight , but anyway . Okay , then this one's especially the special one Assessively farting passenger reportedly causes American Airlines flight to turn around . This is a flight from Phoenix to Austin . Okay , some passenger gets on there .

Apparently they don't know if he's hungover or if he's just being obnoxious . There was some sort of confrontation between him and a steward or a flight attendant .

Speaker 8

Right .

Speaker 4

And he said something to the degree of like you think that's bad , Just listen to this . And he just continues to like let it rip . And I guess it was disgusting it was and they escorted the guy off the plane .

Speaker 3

Gross , yeah , Like what is happening to the human people on a plane . No , if you go , look at flying now , I mean you . It's like a Star Wars bar . It's like People don't . They don't even get dressed anymore .

Speaker 9

Oh , I talked about that . They're wearing their pajamas .

Speaker 4

Yeah , I talked about that . In those cases I can't stand it .

Speaker 3

Hell half the time they're bringing pets on the flight .

Speaker 4

Oh , turkeys and chickens , and yeah .

Speaker 3

They don't bother with shoes . No , right , they don't even bother with shoes , no . And in the minute the plane lands , you've always got the two people from the back who think they should be at the front . Yes , right , that should be , by the way , a felony to do that .

Speaker 4

And then beyond that , I think they should get tripped . You should start tripping people . No , I totally agree .

Speaker 3

And then , beyond that , you have an issue with this guy ripping a fart . Well , we all have been on flights where someone somehow believes that the laws of physics and farting don't apply on a plane . And you're looking around , you're like you don't know who it is , but you know it's happened and you don't want the other passengers to think is it me ?

So you , all of a sudden you have to get the look on your face Like who is who's , you know , and all of a sudden you've got to kind of give enough of a look like that wasn't me , but I know it was one of you . I mean good .

Speaker 4

Okay , I get it , but this had to be so bad to remove the guy from the plane . I mean , in the quote here this guy said we all breathe just sigh of relief when he was removed . A witness to the gassy passenger wrote I mean , it's just like oh , yeah , okay , now here's the other one too .

Just be careful , because either they should have been doing this a long time ago or I should be offended . I don't know which way to go on this one . So now Air New Zealand is asking passengers to weigh themselves , along with their carry-on bags , before they board the plane . Okay , they're doing new studies .

Apparently you do it every five years or something , I don't know . They're trying to figure out the balance of the plane based on people's weight , and they've just been estimating that up until now . That's a little freaky to me . I'm going to be honest . I also am like these are like a big sign when I go in to like weigh myself .

So everybody's like oh , christie , she must have had some extra ice cream last night because she's tipping the scale today .

Speaker 3

Yeah , they're like Christie's combined weight is 236 .

Speaker 4

Passenger 236 , please get on the plane , Then you're just like I was like okay , we're now weighing people because they get on board yeah you're like .

Speaker 3

Then you got to explain to everybody in the line yeah , but I got a really heavy bag . That thing is heavy , heavy .

Speaker 4

Most of it's the bag . It's like women going to the doctor . I don't know if men are like this , but we go to the doctor and they just ask you to get on the scale before your appointments start and you don't want to stand on the scale . Because you got heavy boots on , you got your coat , you got a purse . They let you put your purse down .

But you're like should I take off my shoes and should I take off my coat ? They're like no , no , no , just get on that scale . And you're like but the shoes weigh at least five pounds . Just so you know Just so you know , mark it down . I have my fancy boots on and they weigh a lot , yeah .

Speaker 3

I know I have lead boots on these . Things are at least 40 pounds .

Speaker 4

Lead tone . I want you to know that I'm in the construction .

Speaker 3

I work in construction .

Speaker 4

These are my construction boots .

Speaker 3

They weigh a lot . These are them . They don't look like construction boots . Trust me , they are .

Speaker 4

Anyway . So I don't know . I'm going to get weighed , somebody's going to fart on a plane . I'm going to maggots falling on me , I think we're going to stay right here . We're not going anywhere anytime soon . All right .

Speaker 3

Last video of the day and we're wrapping it up . This comes from the Tows Ski Valley . Beautiful shot of a big horn sheep at the ski valley . I mean gorgeous , or if you're Martin Heinrich this is an elk . But it's , as you can see , just stunning . Look at him . Yeah , this is from the Tows Ski Valleys . I think it is their Instagram page .

Speaker 4

Wow , that's beautiful . He's just standing there saying check me out .

Speaker 3

I look good
