¶ Welcome and Susie's Farewell
Hello internet and welcome to Nobodies, the horror content podcast where we clean up the ugly things so you don't have to. Our bi-weekly show features two hosts and rotating guest content experts tackling the nitty-gritty complex horror topics with the hope of making the genre more approachable for frequent flyers and newbies alike.
The goal of this show is to highlight diverse voices and perspectives in horror. This is your reminder there may be discourse on this show that will challenge the way you look at the genre. So let's get ready to get ugly. I'm the ghost with the blog, Lonely, and I'm joined by my co-host and partner in crime. I am Susie, aka ProjectileVarmint. And it is the end of many, many things tonight.
including this will be our last banter for quite some time and i don't have any banter to provide tonight other than we are about to head into a polar vortex did you know that Tomorrow it's going to be like six degrees and the headlines are like Connecticut, the coldest place on earth. There's like a cold emergency.
You know how older generations are always like, in my day, we walk to school. I kind of felt like that when I walked in from work this morning and my dad was like, we have a cold emergency. We didn't have cold emergencies when I was a kid. no and they sometimes fingers crossed cancel school when it's too cold because the kids will freeze waiting for the buses true true or the the pipes will burst too from the water either one just give me either one i'm fine But we shall see.
So on that note, I guess, happy new year. This episode will be going up just before the close of another year, 2025. And welcome back to the fireside chat of nobodies are warm and fuzzy and always controversial. year in review. This episode is especially warm and fuzzy and maybe a little sad because tonight doesn't just mark the end of 2025.
It also marks the end of Susie's tenure as a standing co-host on Nobodies. For anybody who's not following us on our socials, we announced in November that Susie has made the difficult decision to step away from Nobodies at the close of 2025. And what a great year or a great ride, actually, it has been. As many of you already know, Susie has been involved in the horror podcasting community for years now, initially as a community member and a listener going back to horror movie podcast.
as a co-host on horror movie weekly then of course finishing her podcasting career for now in parentheses here at nobodies and to address a few of the rumors the burning questions that i've received no susie's not dying No, we are not getting a divorce. And no, she's not going back to Horror Movie Weekly. But Susie, is there anything you want to share with the listeners on your decision to step back from the show and anything that's changed in your life this year?
I blame it all on the horror iceberg. No, that was actually part of it, though, because I just. After one of those iceberg episodes, I started keeping track of how much time I spent watching movies I didn't enjoy. And I was like upwards of six to eight hours.
per episode of movies I just did not like. And then I thought I could be doing so much more with my time. So I got back into painting and I'm really enjoying that and spending time with my family. So it's not because of... anything between me and lonely we're still besties on the internet i'm just i think i'm done watching horror for a while i think that's so fair because we've talked about this on the show how you know the kinds of horror we consume and what we want to watch and
the kind of stories that we're drawn to change over time and I think there are parts of our lives that impact that and you've always been transparent about you know being a parent and how that's impacted what you view and I think that's so fair and that's why I've said you know from the beginning even though I still got about if we were, if there were, if we had issues, which I think is wild that people were like, they're like DMing me like, what happened? I'm like, literally nothing, but.
I think that's why I've always supported it from the beginning. I mean, it's a very fair decision at this point. And that leaves the show. And despite all the people who reached out wondering if we were fighting, many of you also reached out following the announcement on Instagram for good reasons, which I really, really appreciate. And it continues to really demonstrate the kind of community and care that we've kind of created with no bodies.
a lot of you didn't just reach out about what was happening to the show you generally wanted to know if Susie was okay and how I was doing so I really appreciate that and the full announcement is on Instagram but the long and short of it is yes nobodies will be continuing but stick around till the end of the episode to hear a little bit more about what's going on with the show
¶ General 2025 Horror Impressions
when the next episode's coming out, and all that fun stuff. But for now, let's focus on the real reason why you're here, which is to talk about some movies. More specifically, the best, the worst, and some underrated gems from 2025. So Susie, what have been your general impressions on horror this year?
So I think 2025 has been the year of overhype and under delivering. So I watched a lot of movies this year and I can only really remember three or four of them. I had to look up my letterbox to see.
I actually watched and some of my most anticipated movies of the year turned out being my least favorite which is super disappointing when you look forward to something for years and years and you see it and you're like that was it so i was underwhelmed there are a few gems that stood out but as a whole i give it like a b minus what about you so
I guess I'm not surprised that we have different opinions based on, you know, even just looking back to the Dion Cage match and how you felt about some of this year's releases. But I thought 2025 was a great year for horror.
This year had some of the strongest releases, in my opinion, in a really long time. And two films from this year alone made it into my top 10 horror films of all time, which is like pretty significant for me. Yeah, yeah. And we had a lot of... big productions this year like films that were intense undertaking from sets effects costuming just huge huge
works of film, whether they were good or not as a whole other story. But I feel like horror also got super creative this year. We saw a lot of things that we've never seen before.
And again, whether or not they were successful in another conversation. Before we get deeper, I do want to just rattle off some of the films that I did not see this year before you all are like, but what about this thing? I did not see Good Boy. 28 years later, Dangerous Animals, Hard Eyes, Until Dawn, The Long Walk, Vicious or The New Strangers.
That's my list. So don't ask me about any of those films, listeners, because I didn't see them. Susie, are there any big ones that you didn't see? Those are the big ones I did not see either. Okay, perfect. So then we're all on the same page, which is great.
But yeah, I guess we have differing opinions on the overall theme for this year, but will we have different opinions on the films? I think I know your favorites. I'm not going to ruin it now, but I think I know your two favorites. But we'll save it until you get there, and I'll say, I knew it.
¶ Best First Watch Not 2025
Do you want to start off with our best first watch of the year that wasn't released in 2025? And I'll go first. So this movie kept popping up on Netflix and the cover art is just not great. So I was like, eh. And then one night I was like, I'm going to try it. And it's called Windchill from 2007. Have you seen that? I have not. I've never heard of this.
Okay, neither had I, which is really weird because it's got Emily Blunt. The cover art is not impressive whatsoever, and maybe the movie wasn't that great, but it was such a fun watch. It's about these two kids in college, and they have to go home for, I think it's... Thanksgiving break or winter break, and they go down this long road on this detour, and you don't know if her rideshare driver is all that he says he is, if he's bad, is he good, and it turns out they enter this weird time.
vortex where bad things of the past keep reoccurring in present day. It was so strange it reminded me of that movie Dead End and I loved every minute of it even though it was probably a really shitty movie. So my best watch is not as old as yours. Mine was released relatively recently. So I'm curious if you've ever seen this. I haven't been able to talk with anybody who's actually seen this too. It's called Flowing.
I've never heard of that. Okay, so it's an Italian-Belgian film, and the foreign title is Piove.
But the synopsis is, on a rainy day in Rome, a mysterious vapor seeps through the manholes, causing those who inhale it to confront their deepest, most suppressed desires and rage. The Morell family is unaware of the impending revelation of... their darkest impulses this is a super deep cut there's less than 100 than 1k reviews on imdb and this movie is basically like the sadness but what the sadness wishes it was it's the same concept that something
is causing people to revert to their like deepest darkest thoughts but this gets dark it really does but it doesn't get tasteless which i feel the sadness is it's just tasteless violence Whereas flowing really starts to address some of the really ugly things that we feel when we go through grief, when we're angry, when we can't move on. And the main character is the oldest son.
And Rico, and this is not a spoiler because it's in the first five minutes of the film, and Rico is coping with the loss of his mother after a car accident. And throughout the film, you start to unravel the role that each of the family members played in the accident. And it is super dark, super sad, and super creepy and unnerving. And I really liked it. I wish it got more recognition. I haven't seen anybody else watching this film. It is on Shudder.
But I loved it a lot. And my honorable mention for another first watch that I loved, which was Hard Candy, which we watched on the iceberg, ironically. That was my first time watching it, and I loved it. Well, that one is either I feel like love or hate. So, yeah, I'm on your boat on that one. But I've seen that many times before. I don't have a runner up. So let's move on to the next category.
¶ Worst First Watch Not 2025
And the next category, because we always bring it back down, is the worst first watch of this year that was not released in 2025. And I will start with another film that we watched for the iceberg, which was Man Behind the Sun, 1988. If you haven't... listen to that episode with Dr. Shock. The synopsis is, the Japanese troops round up Chinese and Russian prisoners of war and take them to Unit 731, where they're horribly tortured and experimented on to test new biological weapons.
is just a really tasteless, problematic, and unsettling film that it was even made. The film also ages terribly. Like, technically, the effects are so terrible by today's standards. It's just a really poor excuse in my opinion to make like 90 minutes of poorly executed torture porn.
It was a fun conversation with Dr. Shock trying to decide if those rats were really eating the cat. So that's always a fun one. But I would say if you're looking for extreme horror, just fucking skip Man Behind the Sun because it's not that great at all. And honorable mention for the next worst. is Black Metal Veins, another one off the iceberg. But is yours off the iceberg as well? I'm curious. I would say almost every single film from the iceberg would probably be on my...
Never want to see again, wish I hadn't watched it, and worst first watch ever. Anything above Tier 4. I didn't see anything else that I didn't at least enjoy a little bit. That wasn't my, like, worst watches from this year are 2025s. Okay. Well, then we should just start talking about 2025 then, because you clearly have some very strong opinions. I do. I do, indeed.
¶ Best 2025 Wide Release
All right, so let's go with how about we'll start off with best and the best wide release that we saw. This was such a close competition between the sinners, the assessment, which I don't know if you've seen, and then my pick.
see centers and assessment? I saw centers and centers is my best of 2025. All right then why don't you you start off and tell us why before I tell you mine. Sure so for anybody who hasn't seen centers it is follows a pair of twins so trying to leave their troubled lives behind twin brothers return to their hometown to start again only discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back I almost didn't see Sinners because I don't love vampire movies.
And I actually saw a review that there was a really good sex scene. And that is the only reason why I went. I'll be honest. And the sex scene was good, but so is the rest of the movie. And it's more than good. This is one of the best movies. I think that. has been put out in the last 10 years.
let alone horror films. I think this is one of the best movies we've seen in years. The casting, the sets, the lore, the music, all of it is stunning and everything has its place in this film. And it's clear the amount of research and time. that went into making this production. And it all paid off. This was an amazing film. It has such like competent conversations around like the African diaspora and folk religion. The vampires are scary.
Michael B. Jordan is here and he is not just eye candy. He is such a good actor that I actually forgot that he was playing two separate people. I thought they were two different actors at one point. But I love Sinners. It is now in my top 10 horror films of all time. So I don't have enough good things to say about it. But what did you like about Sinners?
I liked, well, first of all, I liked that it was written and directed by Ryan Coogler, and he is a black man writing the black experience, which I know that you appreciate as well, because it's an insight that somebody who is not black.
will not have so i appreciated that and i think the storytelling is so rich in that movie that it has all these different layers it has this the layer of the the brothers and their relationship the relationships between the couples and then the whole storyline and the mythos and the history and it was just so intricately woven with a little bit of comedy a little bit of action a little bit of gore it just it had a little bit of everything for
I think anybody could watch that movie and enjoy it. My 84 year old father could watch that movie and enjoy it along with my 17 year old niece. Agreed. I really think, and that's why I think Sinners is just a good movie. And one of my favorite things that can happen to a horror film is when it's consumed appropriately by a mass audience. And I loved seeing so many people.
be the cast of sinners for halloween like i loved seeing that because it just shows how much prowess like a horror film can have when it's done correctly if you have not seen sinners and you're listening to this podcast you need to watch sinners even like It is such a good movie. It's one of those movies that was so good on the first watch that I haven't actually watched it again because I'm afraid it's not going to live up to the expectation. It will. If it's in your top ten, it better live up.
I know. I know. Did you want to say anything about the other films that you almost picked? Because I haven't heard of either of those. The assessment is... It's...
I don't know. It's probably more of a suspense thriller rather than horror, but it's this... dystopian world where there's not enough resources to have children so you have to go through this assessment in order to have a child and this assessor stays with you for like two weeks and they really test your relationship and your would-be parenting skills and the ending is just like what? It was one of those WTF moments where you kind of feel so bad for the couple in the movie that it's like, oh.
You just felt it. Such a good movie. If you haven't seen it, it's got the older Olsen sister in it. And the husband, he's from some, I think he was from Station Eleven. that show that I really like that I can't even remember the name of but yeah excellent movie that was almost my top but my top obviously can you guess what it is the top of the whole year
Yeah, my best wide release. So your best wide release was in Sinners? No, no, it wasn't. I said it was a close between Sinners, the assessment, and, but I didn't say what it was. Okay. Was it 28 years later? No, it was together from, from. Oh, I didn't see it together. I didn't see it. I forgot that in my list. Oh yeah. That movie just had a perfect combination of.
just the right amount of comedy to not make it like over the top funny uh it had a believable relationship and it had a relatable couple the body horror was disgusting But like not so bad where you had to turn away. It was just like the right amount of gore. And it had a super punchy ending that I think. was a divisive 50-50 ending because when you see who opens the door at the end of the movie, you'll understand what I mean. You're like, wait, what? Oh, okay.
And I was the one going, okay, nodding my head, amazing movie. And I, I mean, I love like absolutely love, love, love Alison Brie. She's one of my like. top tier actresses and i had never seen much from dave franco but he was amazing in this movie yeah that is one i did not see i never didn't get to the theaters to to see it i didn't realize together was a wide release but it was i keep thinking it was an indie release
But it was A24, wasn't it? Or was it neon? It was neon. It was neon because we didn't include it in the cage match. Does that make it indie? It's got like 54,000 reviews on IMDb. When I tried to define it, I looked at it as budget. And I think if Dave Franco was in it, then the budget pushes it out. And Alison Brie, too. Yeah. Because she's, like, pretty big now. Who knows? If we're wrong, call in, yell it only. Because I won't be in there anymore.
¶ Worst 2025 Wide Release
Yeah, you can call in and yell at me and I'll just continue my stages of grief. Let's bring it back down and we'll go down to the worst ride release from 2025. I will start. I don't... know if you saw this Susie but it might have piqued your interest but I hope you didn't see it because it was bad and mine was Opus from 2025 did you see Opus I did not I did not and I'm glad that was high up on my watch list
i know because the premise is definitely something that would interest you because it reminded me so much of cosmic dawn but it was like a bad like rendition of cosmic dawn but in opus It follows a writer who travels to a compound of a pop icon who disappeared years ago, surrounded by his cult, as well as a group of fellow journalists. She soon discovers she...
his twisted plans for The Gathering. So this stars Ayo Edeberry, I think is the way you say her name, who I love as an actress. I think she's super fun and like really versatile. And I think she often gets typecast as like funny. roles. So seeing her in this was good. And she's not a bad part of this film at all. But the rest of the film is just not good. It was a total box office bomb. It made $2.2 million off of a $10 million budget.
it is so misguided and bizarre and i think the movie wants to be profound and quirky but in reality it just makes so little sense and like i said it's a shame because io is really great as this lead. She's the only redeeming part of the film, but she can't save the fact that the plot is so poorly shrung together, fake deep.
Doesn't even know what it's saying. I'm luckily didn't pay to see this. I watched it on the plane to Vegas to go to a wedding. And I was so frustrated that I used the airplane Wi-Fi to like rapidly write a letterbox review about how much I didn't like it. I want to give Io another shot.
But I guess it would depend which freaking horror film she's in. I want to see her in a thriller, not a pure horror film, because this does have some gore in it. And it is a horror film, but it just does not stick any.
Anything it's trying to do, it does not accomplish, even in the slightest. But what was your worst wide release? I think this is a wide release because it was in the movie theater. I don't know if it... the woman in the yard is that a wide release or is that an indie film that is a wide release but okay that movie was freaking terrible And I got many reasons why. We've seen this plot so many times about a woman in particular that's got two sides to her.
The great motherly side and the, you know, the go-getter side and then the depressing, grieving side. It was like the Babadook, but with like a grieving, alcoholic mother. And the whole time I was really hoping it wasn't going to go that route and the woman in the yard wasn't going to be like this symbol for the dark part of her life. But that's where it went. It was so confused about. The rules of what it was trying to like how the depression or darkness was taking over at one point.
The dark side used mirrors. And then another time it had to do with light and shadows. And I just like things like that. throw me off if you're gonna have a really generic plot at least have really strong creative like rules of how the evil can interact with the characters i know did you see this movie I did. Dan and I saw it together and Dan, so Dan has a very profound way of reviewing horror films. And that is when we walk out of the film, he'll often go.
That was a stupid movie. And then never talk about it again. So he says that the woman in the yard is a stupid movie. I. didn't think it was that bad at all i think it was is it like the strongest thing we've seen this year like absolutely not but it's in my honorable mentions of like films that i liked this year because i think
where it sort of redeems me is i love the fact that we brought southern gothic to a wide release and i think the folklore here is really cool but it is ultimately a misstep and if you Compare it up against some of the other folk horror that came out this year, which was really bad. Like, this was not a year for folk horror, that's for damn sure. It's probably the strongest folk horror release of the year, but...
And if somebody comes out and says that Bring Her Back is a folk horror, like, don't come at me with that nonsense. Why is this a folk horror, though? I'm confused. Because it's the isolation aspect. So folk horror is distinguished by a couple things. It's isolation, the appeal to an older lore or legend.
but usually cultural or religious and um it's usually in some kind of like you're you're at risk of the elements so they're in the middle of nowhere they're isolated it's appealing to some of the the lore of the um you know the black down in the south so it is technically a folk horror okay i still i still don't understand folk horror but that that's okay um i was confused because this director
directed a lot of other more action thriller movies that i enjoyed like i just i saw carry on this year which is like a complete action movie which was amazing he also did the shallows which is I enjoyed too. This just seemed out of his wheelhouse and he was taking on too much of an artistic type movie. Maybe it's just the wrong director.
¶ Best 2025 Indie Deep Cut
this was a little hard for me this next category it's the best 2025 indie deep cuts release because i really didn't watch that many indie movies but uh I will go with one of the best ones I saw that I'm still thinking about, and that is The Ugly Stepsister. I know you saw that too, and I know you liked it, right?
yep it's actually ugly stepsister is number five of my top five best horror films from this year okay and there are a lot of reasons why this is This took you into that realm of Brothers Grimm fairy tales and it really invested time into getting to know the characters and getting to know their lifestyle and getting to know the setting, the scene.
and the the the ugliness of that time the body horror in this was i would say top of the year what do you think yeah so this is also my best indie release of the year on top of being in my top like overall films of the year and the body horror is crazy this is crazy work on the body horror and in the beginning
you know you get this film and you obviously it's this commentary on body image you know the the worth of appearances you know how women are viewed and you think it's a little bit trite in the beginning you're like okay like we've heard this before but then we start digging into some of the body horror and the the motivation behind some of these characters and it does get pretty fucking dark and it gets darker as it goes like we have the what we can
consider the minor body horror in the beginning with her with her face and then like the ending got me so bad with the tapeworm and the leaking lots of leaking well like i'm gagging just thinking about the tapeworm scene I know. And then the images of her with her losing her hair and I would say probably the best practical effects as well. I think what's super cool is when...
It's always hard to do a fairy tale retelling, right? Because it's been done so many times. But what I like about this one, and maybe it's just because, I mean, I don't consume a lot of fairy tale content, so maybe this has been done before. But I liked how they didn't portray Cinderella as the hero. Like, I think that was really cool.
Because she was evil. She was like not nice. And they also had you empathizing with the ugly stepsister, which is the character you're supposed to hate. Yeah. And it's like you want to you watch some of her actions. It's one of those things where you see. empathetic characters doing ugly things, so you want to dislike her. But I think that's actually a ploy.
by the way of the movie too the movie wants you to feel like when disgusted by her in the same way that everybody else does even though we've watched her like struggle and fight to try to get a life for herself and it's quite a sad movie and then just layers it on with this really intense body horror. Again,
I have never seen any other tapeworms in horror. Maybe I haven't watched enough, but that was, oh my God, the scene. And then also, you know, I don't know. So the sister helps her with her tapeworm situation. I don't know if I love anybody. enough to do that no not me i'd be like sorry uh no we'll just die together i guess because i'm not fucking doing that shit weren't you kind of rooting for her the whole time you're like but maybe but maybe it'll work out for her
Maybe. I think that's the empathy. I really empathize for her. I felt horrible, especially when you saw the behavior of the mother or the stepmother.
oh just like terrible terrible you felt so bad for her and then you remember like watching this as a woman and then like watching this as if you're a woman with like younger women in your life oh it just like makes you sad like i think about you know like my younger cousins and how like body image is more of a thing now than ever like i feel like every generation gets worse you know and you never want people to feel this way about themselves and i think this film is just a
crazy like encapsulation of that feeling like on steroids because this is about sure a fairy tale but think about how many times people have done stuff like this in themselves for gratification for the gratification of others and it doesn't involve like a medieval tapeworm you know what I mean it's also timeless too because it's a story of a girl
And like you said, body image, but the relationship with a mother and like what a mother means and what a mother should mean and what nurturing means. And I haven't really seen this story told in this way. So I appreciate this movie very much.
¶ Worst 2025 Indie Deep Cut
We can bring it back down with the worst indie deep cut release of the year. And I will start off. I don't know. You probably haven't seen this. At least I hope you didn't. I saw this in the theater because the marketing campaign got me. And it is Traumatica. did you see this i was about to press like bottom vod on like on demand and buy it it was ten dollars and i was like ah you know everybody says it's pretty good and then i was like i don't know any of these people saying it's good though
It is so freaking bad. I think, dare I say, maybe Dr. Shock liked it. I'm trying to remember my letterboxd review. I think that Hannah's liked it. Hannah liked it, too. Didn't you say it was the scariest movie of the year? Or no, that's the marketing campaign. Well, that's the marketing campaign. So the marketing campaign says this is the scariest film of the year. It was like a wild marketing campaign, like really crazy. And you know what? It got me. But Traumatica follows.
Mikey's night terrors that become a reality when his mother began showing signs of demonic possession. What he's about to experience will haunt him for the rest of his life and claim countless lives across generations. So this film is really, so this is a pure indie film. It is as bare bones as it gets. And I'm shocked this made it to AMC at like any way, shape or form.
At times, this film is super creative. There are inklings of potential here. I think maybe this writer with some editing should maybe contribute somewhere. But ultimately, this film is so incoherent. It has no idea what it wants to be. Is it a possession film? Is it a Black comedy? Is it exploitation? I have no idea what this film is trying to be. There's also this very focal point of the film is this incest storyline.
And it is handled so poorly, so poorly. And, like, I think they're supposed to be commenting on, like, childhood trauma, because, again, the film's called Traumatica, and I think they're trying to make a comment about, like... you know, how trauma, you know, trickles down through generations and all of that. But I also think that's me being very generous. Like, to call this a commentary on trauma is just not even the truth.
i guess there are some interesting gore things here but and maybe one or two like jump scares but it is just so wildly incoherent and again the incest storyline is handled so poorly it's like used for shock value and that's why i think it borders exploitation in some ways My review of this is all over the place because the film is even more all over the place. But we saw this in theaters. Oh, sorry. And we had no...
We couldn't even talk. I'm speechless now, just as much as I was when I left the theater. I can't even believe this even came out. But if you didn't see Traumatica, what could possibly be worse? uh i've got two because the first one i didn't finish and that was so torn um it's got 1.8 reviews on imdb and it actually has a pretty high rating a 6 out of 10 which maybe i should have finished it and there's about a seamstress
that gets tangled in her own thread after stealing a briefcase from a drug deal gone bad. In an escalating game of cat and mouse, her different choices lead to drastically different outcomes along the way. It just seemed like... regurgitated derivative of so many different other movies and it tried to have this these quirky little twists with string and thread and needles and it wasn't it wasn't very original whatsoever but that wasn't even the worst one did you see the surrender no i didn't
oh so this is when when the family patriarch dies a grieving mother and daughter risk their lives to perform a brutal resurrection ritual and bring him back from the dead it was very reminiscent of a dark song which a lot of people hate and if you hated that movie you'll probably hate this one the the whole movie is based on
two characters dialogue back and forth and they're trying to save like the girl's father and the the wife's husband and they go into this other world to try and get him back but there was just so much So much talking and not a lot happening. The creatures are kind of good, but not good enough to save the movie. And it dragged on and on. And one of the lead character's teeth was really yellow. And that's all I could focus on. But yeah, the surrender.
and where was where was that streaming or did you see it in the theater that was a i think that was a shutter original was it because i think so torn it was also on shutter and i feel like will liked this one and i almost like the surrender Oh, okay. That was the one that he liked then. Wait, no, no. I'm talking about the Surrender. Will liked the Surrender? That was a question. And kind of like, what? Will liked Sotorn. Okay.
So maybe I didn't give that one enough time and I should go back and watch it more. I only gave it about 20 to 25 minutes. And well, if I'm misquoting that. I'm sorry. I try to keep track of what people review on Letterboxd. Now I'm just going to fact chat myself because I don't want to lie. I lied. It was not. Dr. Walking Dead liked it. So who doesn't listen to this show?
Sorry, Will. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter at all. There's no relevant opinions. No, I'm just kidding. Sorry, Dr. Walking Dead. Anyway, let's move on. Let's keep it low. We have another low category coming up.
¶ Most Overrated 2025 Releases
Oh, yeah. So we're moving into most overrated release of the year. And I'm going to go back to the original statement I said of my interpretation of the year in general. My most overrated release is one that I have literally been looking forward to for years and that was 28 years later. This was my most highly anticipated movie of probably the past decade.
because i just love i 28 days later so much it's my top horror it's like in my top five and i wanted to like this but it was it was just silly it was just too silly the alpha zombies with the big dongs and giving birth to human baby ah there was so much wrong with this i think my biggest problem though was the whole setup you have this community that's living happily
And the boy is like, oh, I'm going to leave this safe place to try and save my mom. What? It's just the logic doesn't make any sense to me. But of course, without that, we wouldn't have a movie. I didn't see 28 years later, even though I'm a huge zombie fan, as people know. I didn't see this movie because I knew that there was no way it would live up to my expectations, even though Billy did give this, like, a pretty positive review.
i just couldn't put myself past it like i just couldn't i rewatched i started rewatching the franchise like to make my way back to the film i rewatched the whole franchise for this right and then After seeing some of the reviews come out, I was like, no, I can't do it. And you know, they're making another one. It's City of Bones or something.
I know. They set it up at the end of this movie to go directly into that movie. But they also used the beginning, like 10 minutes of this movie, to set up the ending, which set up the next movie. so it's like a money grab and i can't i don't like 28 years later was such pure horror not for money for you could tell it was like the love of the genre and this is a money grab and i think you know
28 Days Later is just one of those films that set the stage for so many films that came after it. It transformed the zombie genre. So to add onto it, you've got to make sure you're saying something worth saying. And I don't think any... Anything coming out right now is not going to do that. So I agree wholeheartedly, and I didn't even see it. My most overrated release of 2025 is going to cause some waves, but...
If you know what I like and yet you've been looking at my reviews and you shouldn't be surprised, my most overrated is Bring Her Back.
for 2025 wow yeah following the death of their father a brother and sister are sent to live with their foster mother only to learn that she is hiding a terrifying secret so let me just put a claw fire here objectively this is not a bad movie but i do think it is overhyped i think the biggest issue that it had was and you i mean people should know by now i'm a fan of talk to me i think talk to me is an amazing film i think it did things that we hadn't seen in a long time
That sucks to be those two directors trying to make another film because nothing is ever going to live up to talk to me. And that's fine. But my issues with Bring Her Back is that... there are so many plot holes in this and I think people were so quick to overlook it because the gore was in your face and they're like oh my god the kid's eating the table and it's like okay well are we going to ignore the fact like
How did this woman learn this freaking dead language to interpret this videotape to, like, know how to practice this? You know? Valid. It could have been chat GPT. There you go. But those are the questions I had. Like, never mind. I started to dig really deep. And then I was like, okay, well, if you put it in the talk to me universe, because the first question I had is, well, where the fuck did the tape come from? And then I was like, lonely, you have to let that one go.
because then someone could say where the fuck did the hand come from so I was like I'll give them that I will suspend my belief and I will not worry about where the tape came from but how the fuck like did she have subtitles on that like how How did you fucking know how to do this? Like...
ritual. And is that the point? Did she not do the ritual correctly? Is that why everything goes wrong? Like, I have no idea. But people were so fixated on the gore that they didn't even care about these fucking plot holes. In my humble opinion, I think the gore in Talk To Me is worse than the gore in Bring Her Back. And my last friggin' little tidbit, I hate what they did to the characters. I really do. And I won't spoil it, but they kill off...
the characters in a certain order and I think it was fucked what they did. I think that they made the wrong choices with these characters because why do you spend so much time with them? for them to get killed off like so unceremoniously and then I just didn't
I was so disappointed by this film. My father-in-law liked it a lot. I know a lot of people like this film. But did you see Bring Her Back? What did you think of it? I'm going to asterisk you saying plot holes ruined the movie for you. We're just going to put a little asterisk there. did really enjoy bring her back this was almost my favorite movie of the year and i just it was an idea that was developed in a lot of other movies but
She wasn't shown to us in this way. So I do like a dark song. I like this idea of somebody knowing a group of people, a myth, something, knowing how to bring people back. And the fact that they didn't explain that at all. was a little bit refreshing to me because i would have found a lot of things wrong with the the like way that she came across the tape the steps it took to do this
There was some mystery left unsaid, which I appreciated pissed you off, but, you know, we can't love them all, right? And on its face, this is a... objectively okay horror film i think a lot of people will like this i think it might be worth seeing especially if you were a fan of talk to me i do think that there's a lot of interesting things here and as you were talking i was like reflecting on like how i felt while watching the film and there is like a really
uh like yucky feeling that you get watching this there's a lot of like pouring the piss on him i know like is he why is she doing that Yes, that's exactly where my brain went. I'm like, there's this weird, insidious, like sexual... weirdness like just weird shit happening and then she was like getting all like almost too close to him you're like why is she doing that so yeah this movie like makes you wonder so much
just to do what they did with those characters, which is a whole other thing. But yeah, I mean, you get a fucked up feeling watching this. And of course, the kid eating the table, that's a fun... The fun thing. I hate when people, oh my god, like, my last comment on this. I hate horror TikTok. I will say it. I hate horror TikTok. Hannah and Matt, love you both for subjecting yourself to that.
but I hate horror TikTok because all you got after this film came out was like all these TikToks about I can never look at a cantaloupe the same I'm like please touch grass like I can't this is just like oh my god
¶ Most Underrated 2025 Releases
I don't know the grower maybe I've just become desensitized so those are my two cents on the most overrated release but let's talk about the most underrated release of 2025 so what is a film that came out this year that you feel didn't get enough recognition For me, I am shocked that nobody's talking that much about Wolfman. I heard it was bad. I didn't see this. Tell me why you liked it.
oh i love this movie it's a family at a remote farmhouse is attacked by an unseen animal but as the night stretches on the father begins to transform into something unrecognizable it was just a modern take on wolfman and It was action-packed. It was also a little bit heart-wrenching because you know what's ultimately going to happen. And it came full circle at one point.
I thought it was a great movie, and I'm looking at the IMDb. It's only 5.6, so it's mid. But I think, you know, with who was in it... Julia Garner and Christopher Abbott. That was, I mean, a pretty. Those are two pretty big names to not get that much recognition. And it was directed by Lee Whannell. And he also did like some of my favorite movies, Saw.
Oh, he was in them. He didn't direct them. Okay, never mind. So this is a director that this is his first directorial debut. He was an actor in Saw and Cooties. So that's impressive. And you're in good company. Will liked this one, gave it four out of five. Ian gave this a four and a half. So you're in good company. So maybe I will have to watch The Wolfman.
But my underrated release of 2025 is another film that made it into my top 10 horror films of all time. And another film that I almost didn't see. Thank you, Ian Irza, who told me to go see this. Companion. I fucking loved companion. Ian calls this the only sci-fi film that lonely will ever like. And you know what? He's right. So valid Ian. And if you haven't seen it, companion is during a weekend getaway to a secluded lakeside to say a group of.
friends find themselves entangled in a web of secrets deception and advanced technology as tensions rise and loyalties are tested they uncover unsettling truths about themselves and the whole world around them i almost like i said almost didn't see this and I thought this movie was so fucking smart and so fucking fun. I did not know the twist going in about Iris and who she was. I didn't know that. So that was a really fun reveal for me. And it's femme. It's queer.
And it's also very, like, it's a horror comedy on its face, I think, like a horror sci-fi comedy. But it's also so timely as we talk about, like, navigating the current sociopolitical landscape where, you know.
the rights of women are being questioned on the daily and here we have this insidious kind of conversation about how men treat machines that look like women and the way men treat you know relationships transactionally and like everybody sit the down like these are just broad strokes talking about the film this isn't a target against anybody but i think some of the commentary it makes about like the boyfriend and you know the whole scene when he like
orders her and takes her out of the box like I think is just so fucking funny and like Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls is playing in the background so funny and I think it also is a nice little little jab at the resurgence of like trad wife culture and how like not everything is as perfect as you want it to be.
This is a cool as fuck film. I fucking love this film. I recommended it to everybody. There was a bunch of people at work who are not horror fans, but they're feminists. And I'm like, you need to see Companion. And they loved it. So what did you think of Companion? i thought companion was okay i didn't think it was anything great though it was just another movie about
A robot becoming somewhat sentient. I liked Ex Machina better. I know it doesn't, Ex Machina doesn't have as much of a, almost like bodies, bodies, bodies vibe to it. But yeah, I could take this one or leave it. I think Companion, and this was my tagline of my review, Companion is ex machina for the girls and the gays. And I love it.
I love it. It's fun. It's pink. There's blood. I also think Sophie Thatcher is... I think she's going to be a really big scream queen. I really do. I think she's... a really good character actress in the opposite way that Mia Goth is a good character actress you know what I mean like I feel like she's a very she's a very subtle character actress like she really becomes that character
but not in a way that's like over the top she's a very like like low vibration character actress i haven't seen her in yellow jackets i have yet to watch that but you know funny you should mention that i just re-watched um yellow jackets so I could be up to date when the next season comes out and it is just as good as I remembered it. So, and I think you would actually really like it because it is very femme and it is very like female empowerment, but it's also got this.
It's folk horror as well. And it has this like mystical, magical vibe to it. Almost like Lost, but Lost done much better. This has been recommended to me many, many times, and I've just never sat down to watch it. My mother-in-law even watched this and told me to watch it, and she's the farthest thing from a horror fan, so I guess that's something I have to get on the train for for 2026.
¶ Favorite Episodes of the Year
Alright, so enough talking about other movies. Let's talk about us and our... content i suppose so on nobodies we have done so much this year we just are giving you a lot of different stuff and when i was looking back on all of it i was wondering what was my favorite episode we released this year do you want to take a guess for mine and then i'll guess yours my guess so
I'm going to say my gut wants to say time loops with Jim Burkett because I know that was a really cool experience for you. But I also know the back end of getting that episode published was probably one of our worst experiences on the show. So my second guess is going to be. paranormal love stories with Adam Stovall. Those are my guesses. Well, we'll talk about the Jim Burgett episode on our next topic, but it was actually Analog Horror was my favorite. Really? I love that one too.
And I was not looking forward to doing that episode. And it ended up when I did the watch list and we had those conversations, it was good. It was really good. It was fun. It was fun to listen back when I was editing. And there was one media recommendation on that list that I just keep kind of thinking about. So good call on that. For you, I'm going to guess an episode that is part of our Iceberg series that is with somebody that we'll be hearing from soon. And that is the episode with Kanan.
That is definitely on my list. So I have in order Unapproachable. I loved doing the Unapproachable newbie entry point to horror with Abby and Catherine. I thought that was... a really fun cool little episode it was a really nice deviation from what we we've done in the past and i loved getting a chance to record that but my second one on the list is the extreme iceberg series i
Put this, like, I'll be honest, listeners. The whole series. The whole series. I mean, I have my favorites, which I'll get to. But I pitched this because the extreme iceberg was really buzzy. on horror TikTok. So I was like, let's get on the trend train. Let me see if I can convince Susie to watch this and what can we do.
And I knew that there had been some folks like in our guest cycle that had been interested in extreme horror. And we had talked about extreme horror on the show before. And so I had this idea knowing deep down that I didn't really want to watch these films. I was like, I don't really actually want to consume this content. Like, what am I getting myself into? And then I started watching these films. And I really...
It has transformed, truly, and I know it sounds so fucking dramatic, but it has transformed kind of the way I look at horror films. And though I don't think extreme media has a place everywhere, I do now see value.
in extreme media that is done correctly and the the value that it brings to the horror space when saying something prevalent and and you know and poignant and i think the film that really transformed that for me was come and see that film like it was kind of like a revelation like it is i can't even say how that film has changed
Just the way I look at horror and the way I look at folk horror and just everything. It was such a great fucking film. So thank you, Libby, for bringing that on the show. But my top two episodes that I think are my favorite for this year were The Extreme Horror.
episode with kanaan um he was an amazing guest and i love getting a chance to talk with him i love when somebody has like no fear when it comes to being like lonely you're full of shit and i love that about canon and he is also just super smart and super kind and i think a second favorite would be our horror video games episode with mike because horror video games was an episode i had on the back burner forever
but I know it's not Susie's you know cup of tea and she just so happened to actually be sick for that episode and I had to call Mike in and do that episode with Trey and that was a really fun one for me too but Those would be my impressions on my favorites for this year. And just to reflect on the amount of labor of love we committed for this show.
¶ Most Difficult Episodes Produced
What would you say is the most difficult episode we released this year from your perspective? And especially you're the one editing the content. So what would you say is your most difficult episode this year?
Well, my favorite episode was also the most difficult, and that was our episode with Jim Burkett, the director of Coherence. What the listeners don't know is there were three of us on that call, and we were using a new... platform to record and lonely is there talking and she is interacting with me and jim but all of her audio got corrupted somehow so you could not hear anything she said and then she'd
We'd lose her for 20 minutes, then she'd come back on, then we'd lose her again. There was so much editing that I had to do. Because then when I finally went back, all of my... audio was messed up too and the only audio that survived was Jim's so I had to re-record all of my audio by listening to what I said and say it again without all this crackling and popping. It probably took me about seven hours to get that episode from start to release.
That was on my list, too, as our most difficult recording of the year. Because, you know, granted, my suffering is never going to match Susie's level of suffering when it comes to actually fucking editing that craziness. But...
i'm sure you all can put yourselves in my shoes for a second and think about like i knew this was a an episode that like was so important to susie And as like the person who kind of like keeps the wheels running when it comes to like organizing the episode, like getting stuff scheduled, getting stuff out and like making sure everything runs on time and then being like trapped in that recording and not being able to.
say anything like it was so frustrating I remember coming out of that like recording and just like angry tears like I was so mad with how it turned out like I was so frustrated and on top of that I had watched a bunch of films that I didn't freaking like Like I watched Time Crimes and Horse Girl and all of these films like that I just did not like at all. And I'm so glad we were able to get Billy back in post to talk about at least one of the films because.
oh it was such a frustrating recording and i think another one was similar to that was um though i loved the way it came out paranormal romance with adam stovall that was a really hard episode to coordinate and like link together and try to find films that worked for that it was a great conversation with adam and i'm so glad we had to conversation about ghost wait so that was a hard one and then oh yeah later to review a ghost wait
What you don't see is we have to rearrange everything. And what we recorded one time actually gets cut up into three parts, into three different segments on the episode. So I'm not going to miss them. Sorry, Dan. Yeah.
¶ Most Anticipated 2026 Horror
So before we talk about what's happening to the show that you just alluded to, Susie, let's talk about one more thing with movies. So what are your most anticipated horror releases of 2026? Damn, I just want It Follows 2 to get released. That's all I want. That's all I want, Lonely. And if it's another fucking 28 years later bullshit, I'm just not ever watching horror again.
Well, I think you've said that on every wrap up of the show, and I really appreciate the consistency. I think mine is in a similar vein. I want the Silent Hill movie. Okay, I would watch that too. There is a film that's in some sort of production. It's called Return to Silent Hill. And this is actually...
What's really interesting, if you're a Silent Hill franchise fan and a Silent Hill game fan, this is the first movie to portray the second video game, which is Silent Hill 2. So the original, the Silent Hill movie that we all know...
you know, with Alessa and the cop and going through and the mom and all that, that is loosely based on Silent Hill 1. There's some... kind of changes to the story but silent hill one with like a little touch of like silent hill i believe three and silent hill revelation which is really bad and we don't talk about it is based on silent hill three and four i'm pretty sure so this is the first one to be based
on Silent Hill 2. The reason why I go through all of this long saga is Silent Hill 2 is actually the fan favorite game of the franchise. So this is a beloved game. People love this game. It was remade and remastered this year. So a lot of people redownloaded Silent Hill 2 and played it. Like on PC, Mike and I have a good talk going around. He's probably still waiting for me to finish the game. It's one of those games that you play and you just don't want it to end.
So yeah, it's super, super fucking dark. And I'm really hoping they're able to even capture just a tiny bit of that essence in this film because it is a fan favorite and they have a lot to live up to. But other than that, there isn't a lot on the 2026 radar that I'm like dying to see. Because especially not Bone Temple, Bone City, 28 Days. That's not on my anticipated list. I have one movie that I didn't talk about.
That I really enjoyed this year. And it's so horror adjacent that I almost don't want to talk about it. But it was my favorite watch of the entire year. And it's called Pig. have you seen that movie is that the Nicolas Cage one yes no I haven't seen it It's about a truffle pig and Nicolas Cage has this truffle pig. Somebody steals the pig and the whole movie is his attempt to get this pig back.
because you think he just he needs that pig to make the money to get the truffles and it just goes into the underbelly of the restaurant business with chefs and servers and it's it's a magical movie about a truffle pig that's all I can say I loved it. My favorite movie of the year wasn't even horror. It was a thriller. I watched Zootopia this year. Zootopia? Zootopia, yeah. I had never seen Zootopia. And my brother-in-law was like, we need to see it. We were in.
Salem for Thanksgiving. And he was like, we need to see Zootopia 2. And I'm like, Jacob, I haven't seen Zootopia 1. And he made me watch Zootopia. And to quote him, his exact words are absolute cinema. Buy your tickets for Zootopia 2 right now. So that's my favorite non-horror film I saw this year.
¶ The Future of No Bodies
Let's talk about the moment that maybe if you're still hanging out here, that means that you are you're waiting for the update. And that is this is usually where we talk about our plans for 2026. No bodies of the following year, so.
Let me tell you a little bit about what's going to happen now that Susie is departing. So I will continue producing the show. So as many of you know, I kind of... am the the cog in the machine behind the show um i often do a lot of the scheduling and organizing and that sort of thing and show writing so i will continue doing that but as susie retires my husband dan
which you guys might remember as the other Dan. He'll be serving as the primary show editor. So Dan is... has some experience in audio mixing and is a little bit of a musician so he was really eager to jump in and and see how he could help so dan will now be the editor which means if you uh have an issue with the editing you have to call him and not me
But to support this huge transition, because learning how to audio edit to something to this scale is quite the endeavor, the show will be going on a brief hiatus from January to March. So that'll give Dan and I some time to get acclimated to the editing responsibilities that Susie had held on the show. And I also want to get some new content recorded in the queue. Are you here? You're waiting on bated breath. Will I be doing a solo cast? Absolutely the fuck not.
I can barely listen to myself on the playback of these recordings, let alone listen to myself talking to nothing. So I will be returning to the air with a new crew. Yeah, crew. there's going to be more than one person in this room with me of some really talented really insightful and really kind people and the goal is to continue to maintain the values and the goals of the show and stay committed to
our goals of diversity and accessibility on the show and continue presenting topic-based episodes like you're used to with multimedia approaches. So bringing in shows, movies, all kinds of stuff, but we will be doing a bit of a different format. So though it will not be the same show, I do hope that you will stick around to see what this new crew has to offer. They are hard at work and I really can't wait for you to see it.
The first episode of the new show will be dropping on April 4th, 2026 on all of our usual streaming platforms. We still will be nobodies. So make sure to follow and get that notification when the first episode comes out.
¶ Listener Farewell Messages
For now, that brings us to the end of episode 74 of No Bodies, and instead of our regular outro, some of our friends have prepared a little something special to commemorate Susie's last episode. Susie, thank you for everything. And I will let our listeners take us out for tonight. Nobody's podcast. This is Will. I'm calling in to tell you guys I love what you do.
I'll always support you no matter what. But I hear Susie is leaving. And I just want to give a special shout out to Susie and everything that she's done for Nobody's Horror. And just... the amazing work that you two have done together and i hope everything that she chooses to do going forward goes well with her and i will always support you both and whatever she decides to do love you both
Much support, much respect, much love, and well wishes to you, Susie. I hope everything's going well. Lonely, you will not be forgotten. Always a fan, and I will keep listening to whatever you guys do. and whatever you do moving forward. Thank you. Hey, it's Ian Urza calling in. This is for saying farewell to Susie. One of the first things I can think of is...
how kind Susie was to me the time when I first met her at, I think it was CT Horror Fest. She had put a post out that she was going to be there back in 2022. So I went up and introduced myself, told her who I was. She was like, you're the only one who saw the post and came up and met me, I think, if I remember correctly. And then about a year later, Susie messaged me about being on the Nobody's Podcast.
for the heavy metal horror episode, and that ended up being a really fun time. And then you both invited me back for the... best and worst of for i think it was letters uh g through l or something like that um and uh that was also a lot of fun and well and uh Being with you both in Worcester, Massachusetts for Silver Screen Con was awesome, but I'll remember how just prepared and dedicated you always were to the podcast.
the things the things both of you do like the amount of preparation and time you must take uh is a real dedication from both of you like with the whole doing deep cuts doing like best and worst for each subject matter i mean You both show a lot of dedication to the show and just a lot of time that you put in for all of us. Yeah, Susie, hope whatever comes next for you goes...
You know, just as well as this podcast has gone, really. And you'll be missed by all of us fans. And hopefully we can meet up again at some point at another convention. That would be awesome. Thanks for all your contributions to the show. And Lonely, I hope whatever the next iteration of the show is, goes really well for you as well. Hey, it's Sam from Feature Creatures Podcast. I was just calling to...
wish Suzy a farewell. Suzy, you were always super fun and inviting and warm and honestly I felt like our opinions lined up a lot and i always got along with you i hope that you whatever you do in the future you you have a wonderful time And I wish you all the success in the world. You deserve it. Lonely, you're wonderful. And I hope that you continue the project on in a fun and constructive way. Otherwise, I will hopefully talk to both of you in the future.
Bye. Hi, this is Hannah. And Matt Hannah from Horror Hours to Hannah's. We are calling as a goodbye message to Susie. And of course, in traditional Hannah style, we are leaving this voicemail a day later than we were supposed to. We're battling our job. Honestly, yeah, probably.
But either way, we want to say that Susie's going to be greatly missed. And I just want to know who's going to keep the reins on Lonely now and put her in her place. Oh, thank you. Because I've seen Susie on more than one occasion get quite sassy, and I'm going to miss that. I'm going to miss having another podcast here to talk about David Lynch. I will say that as the fellow Twin Peaks lover. We appreciate you. You've been great. We've always enjoyed being on the show with you.
You're funny as hell and I like how mean you can be. It's been so fun to get to record with you, Susie. I feel like every episode we've done together, I've like left. been like that was so fun I love them but I love Susie so I love you both, but it's about Susie, so I'm focusing on the Susie part. Well, either way, Susie. No, I'm just laughing. I've been saying crazy stuff, too. Either way, we think Susie's great. We're sad that she's leaving. But totally understand. I know you've got...
life and kiddos, and we don't have any of that, so, you know. We look forward to the reunion episode. Hey, Susie, it's Con Albegovich. I'm so thankful that I got to meet you even one time and chat with you before you decided to take your current hiatus. You definitely deserve it. I remember first hearing you on the Horror Movie Weekly podcast.
Your often dissenting voice against what your co-hosts had really kept pulling me in because I do not like an echo chamber. Mind you, Watson and Jay always liked their points of views, but you were always refreshing to hear. Even though you and I did, personally, I don't have a lot of the same views for horror movies that you do, I still appreciate everything that you have brought to the podcasting space, and you will be dearly missed, especially because...
Our views line up more than mine and Lonely's. Take care, and I hope you and your family have a wonderful year. See ya. What is up, guys? It's Mike, a.k., that horror teacher. And I wanted to call and thank Susie for all you have done for the horror community over the years, and particularly, obviously, on this very podcast. Susie, you were one of my first horror community friends.
I've been listening to you since the Horror Movie Weekly Days, and I've enjoyed that. And without you, I would probably never have been on the Nobody's Horror Podcast as a guest host or a guest if you're the one that reached out and got me there. So I'm eternally grateful to you for that. I'm thankful also to have another teacher in the space. That was cool. And I wish you all the best in whatever you do with your free time now. Enjoy it with the fam. I don't know who I'm going to get.
It helped me get lonely to actually watch some sci-fi horror movies. You were my partner in crime in that. But I'll just keep trying someday. Maybe I'll win it over. Anyway, thanks so much. Seriously, you've been a great friend. I feel like I'm talking like you're dying or something. Sorry. I love you. You're the best. I'll miss you on the show, but I'll look to see you around, hopefully on the old internets. All right. Thanks, Uzi. Talk to you guys later. Bye. Hello, listeners.
This is Billy Dee from the Halloween Babies podcast. I first became acquainted with Susie back when she was on Horror Movie Weekly, and she was in charge of that podcast's Instagram page. I would comment on her reviews and give her recommendations and on occasion help her figure out the title of some obscure and elusive film she couldn't remember the name of. We ended up becoming friends and bonding over our love of strange existential horror films and our intestinal tract disorders.
She was gracious enough to invite me into the Nobody's family and onto the show where I've been a guest around half a dozen times or so, and I've always had a blast with her and Lonely. As Susie now prepares to exit the show and dive full force into the real-life horrors of motherhood and teaching little cute monsters how to appreciate art and color in and around the lines of life.
I just wanted to wish her all the best while sending positive energy her way. Hopefully in the future when she watches or reads something that really strikes a chord with her, she might call in with a mini review and update us on her journey.
¶ Lonely's Personal Message to Susie
She will be missed, but not forgotten. Fare thee well, my friend. Fare thee well. Hey, ZZ. It's Lonely. I hope you didn't think I'd let you go without one more woo-woo ramble for the road. And while I might not have some statistics or research or Gen Z slang to share with you tonight, I do have a thank you. Or several.
I want to thank you for seeing me during a time of my life when I thought I was invisible. For believing in me during a time of my life when I didn't even believe in myself. Thank you for being the spark that lit the fire of my journey to reclaiming my story my voice and my life thank you for being one of my truest and dearest friends whether we are 20 miles or 200 miles apart
And most importantly, thank you for creating the beautiful, living, breathing thing that is No Body Horror Podcast with me. You have given me such a gift. This passion, this community, this project is something I will always treasure. Susie, thank you for being my partner in crime, and I hope this next chapter will make you proud. This one's for you.
