優生保護法は戦後間もない1948年、超党派の議員立法でつくられました。目的の一つは「優生上の見地から不良な子孫の出生を防止する」こと。遺伝性疾患などとみなされた人に対して、本人の同意なく、子どもをできなくさせる不妊手術を可能にしました。
