The Shunka Warakin
Episode description
Welcome to the first episode of the New Year. We are glad you are back for more creepy tales from Nightmares of the Americas. In this episode we talk about the devil dog himself. No, we're not talking about the Hound of the Baskerville. This is the Shunka Warakin. The Ioway people say this creature is a nocturnal monster and Its name means "carries off dogs," because it is said to prey on family dogs at night. It is a beast resembling a large wolf, with human-like cries. Shunka Warakin has been associated by some people with a hyena-like creature from local Montana folklore called "ringdocus."
