We jump right in this part 3 episode of the Osage Indian Murders with the investigation. In 1850 a new line of work was created in the United States, it was the Private detective. The Pinkerton's National Detective Agency were who you called when the law wouldn't cut it. A number of agencies started following suit. The family of Mollie, the Whitehorn estate, and Hale all employed one of these investigators.
When everything failed the Osage counsel sought the help of the Department of Justice. They were forced to pay for their own investigation. Even though they payed around $300,000 to the Bureau of Investigation (The predecessor of the FBI) they still did not want to take the case. Listen to the twist and turns of this exciting episode.
