Forty nine is believe practice field
is giving them an unfair advantage. The forty nine ers are trying to figure out where they're practice this week after finding the surface at UNLV far softer than they expected. The university has a pair of artificial surface fields that last week were overlaid with natural grass, but because there's no surface place between the artificial turfing, the new side the fields had a sponge like field, the Athletic Road.
The forty nine ers were so unhappy that they initially considered flying flying back from Vegas following Monday night's media event and practicing the Santa Clara before the game, but have since backed off that plan. Tonight, Roger Goodell, Commissioner. Goodell maintains that the NFL has deemed the field playable despite the forty nine ers concern. First of all, guess what, NFL officiers, you're not playing y'all, don't put no claques on.
So just because you said, oh, it's playable, what about the players?
What about the coaches that's gonna be on there and are expecting a certain type of surface in order to be able to practice on. Now, we don't want to use that as an excuse, but I think in a situation like this, O Joe, you want to make sure both teams are at their best and the last thing you want is the one team to feel like we have an unfair advantage because the surface that we're practicing on is not adequate or it's not appropriate or as
¶ 49ers frustrated with field
it could close. And as to the surface that we're going to be playing on come Sunday.
Yeah, so uh.
Hopefully hopefully everybody gets this thing worked out. And the forty nine er says, so you know what, Hey, it is what it is. Let's go make the best of it. But I just don't like the fact that the commission just came out and said they.
Have deemed it. Well, let me ask you a question. Who put on cleatsand went out there and test it? Right?
I mean, listen, it's obviously it's unfortunate. I think about how you and I grew up on. I think about the planed surfaces that we had to deal with. I think about the plant surfaces that I had to deal with, plan Thorp tackle at Charles Haddey Park, planing Thorp tackle at Moore Park down in Liberty City, And to think about how happy I was to play on those surfaces with holes and dibbots and then and all type of
sprinkler heads coming up. And obviously, I know you expect once you make it to the highest level, you want everything to be perfect. At some times, any little inconvenience or it's an issue, or the playing service is too small, or or just like I get it. Obviously, it's a super Bowl, so you I don't think it's an unfair advantage, not mine. You. No, We've been playing football for nineteen weeks,
playing the game of football for nineteen weeks. Now we're grown men, and at the smallest inconvenient we can't let the smallest thing be inconvenienced. We know what to do. We know we're going to be playing on Bermuda grass that is very fast when it comes to game time, and a little inconvenience of the service not being what you're used to it being. Shouldn't be that much of
being convenienced. You want to think about flying back home, you know, as opposed to going out there and practicing, Like, come on, now, it's just me and everybody else might be different everybody. That's just me and my thought process process when it comes to it, based on where I came from and what I grew up. Having to do.
Something like the field being a little different than what I'm used to wouldn't inconvenience me when I know the work I got to get in as far as coming preparing for a game.
Let's let's just say for.
You with the Bengals and all of a sudden, I understand that you grew up playing on those fields, and all of a sudden the Bengals had to go play on that field. You okay with that? You dodged and sprinkler head did it?
Bottles?
Listen, I see where you're going. But that's that's very dramatic.
And you said, what did you just say? How you grew up playing on the on the sprinkle head.
Of concrete all that stuff. But I'm saying even even though it's at the highest level. It isn't that much of inconvenience because the feel is a little soft, like it's just come on now, everything perfect.
Let me ask your question, why did you celebrate? Because in your mind it gave you advantage you needed to be ocho. You wore your uniform a certain weight, and when the NFL told you to change your uniform, what did you say, Ojo?
No?
Why you say no, o Joe? It ain't a little mon of inconvenience. All it did ask you to touch your jersey. All they did was ask you to put the towel on one side and not the other. What they asked you to pull yourself. So why was that such a problem for you?
Because you know, when you look good, you play good. And I wanted to dress the same way I addressed it when I was a little shorty, and I wasn't changing that no matter how much money you took for me, because that's not what I've acted.
So another word, the forty nine ers wanted to be practicing on the field that's gonna be similar to what they played on.
Is asking a bit too much?
Hey, I mean I'm small example, on how I feel about it, I don't care if they had it. I don't care if they had my black ass out there on muffling ice. I'm finna go practice and be ready for God damn son.
But I'm just trying to say, but you wasn't willing to do that with your uniform, but you expect them to be able to do that at the super Bowl. This wasn't the Super Bowl. They said, Ocho, we needed to correct your uniform. They asked you to do this for a regular game or a preseason game, and your mind wouldn't allow you to do that because you didn't feel if you change anything about your uniform, you couldn't be Ocho.
Right. That's that's exactly how I felt, and I understand going with it, But I think that's that's apples and oranges. It's kind of different basket.
And you see the fruit basket. They put apples in on you in there in parents to sometimes and.
Some greats and some plums.
But I understand, I understand. You know their issue. Obviously, this is the biggest game and you want you want everything to be as perfect as possible in your in your preparation for a game of this magnitude. I'm just saying for me, I ain't really give them a fuck by no goddamn surface boy. Man, I'm like, oh man, let's get to practice on. Man, let's go, let's.
Go to work. Now I have played on.
We got to make any excuses because if they lose, Now, what's the.
First no, no.
No, no, no no.
Because because once you start playing on you you get acclimated to it.
It's less than ideal.
Normally what we did on Joe, if we had a great I mean, uh, like we're gonna play on turf. We might practice Friday on the turf, but we were saving our legs on Wednesdays and Thursdays and then Friday. We were practiced on turf to get our bodies, you to it, because you don't run rolfs the same way on turf turf as you do grass.
So that was the way. That was the way Dan did it, That's the way Mike did it. Did it. What he got there is that.
We would get some, get some, get some turf, because that turf different.
Man.
Now they don't have the turf like we used to have back we had that concrete had we had carved over concrete. That was a different type of turf, and when you left there, you had strawberry, you had rug burns, your knees hurt, everything hurt because that was a pounding. Well, like you said, you played on concrete, that's exactly what you played on when you played at the Vet, or you played at the Astrodome, or you played at some of these stadiums that had turf.
That was terrible.
Now, in the preseason one year, I think it was two thousand and one that the field was so bad. I don't know if it was called the Linked In in Philadelphia or it was still the Vet Stadium, but the stadium was deemed the NFL deemed unplayable.
That's how bad it was. Yeah, it was. It was awful. It was awful. Somebody was gonna get hurt. They're about to go get hurt.
Yeah, that's long before they changed it though.
Well, we didn't play, we didn't play, we didn't play that game. I think they worked some things out because it was I mean, you would go one place and then there's a divot about that deep, but the carpet is there, so you I mean you somebody was gonna get hurt.
Somebody's gonna get hurt.
Now I know you don't probably remember this, but Wendell Davis, he jumped up and caught the past and he tore both of his uh I think it's from Chicago. He ended up tearing both of his a cls. Whoa No, he ripped both of his proteller's not his acls and and tore both of us patell attendance at the vent.
Well, that's that's crazy. I ain't never heard of that boy.
And as to say his career was over, m so I agree. I understand in situations like that sometimes you can you can mentally create a ghost that's really not there. Uh, I understand what you're used to. And if I was reading, if I was reading correctly, Ojo, the grass was grown in. They had robotics, and they've been this This grass here has been monitored and and it's supposed to be special, and it's being flown in especially for the Super Bowl.
H Now, it's.
Gonna be interesting. I don't think they're gonna have I don't know. I don't think Allegiance has a retractable roof. It's not like so far Or or Arizona. You remember Arizona has a retractable also so it was a little slick because you remember guys.
Were slipping early uh early last year in the game.
Uh and and huh it's don't it's so it's not retractable, right, Okay, it's not retractable.
But look, you made it this far.
And I don't believe the field is gonna determine who's gonna win this ball game.
No. No, But again, when you when something like this happens, somebody makes it not an excuse. Somebody has a gripe about something, a team itself. I guarantee you if things don't work out come game time, somebody is gonna say, well, you know what. We were at a disadvantage because when we when it was time to practice, we didn't have the field, the adequate surface, playing surface similar to that that we would be on Sunday to work with during
the week. I guarantee you always they will find something always. That's why I don't even like the fact that somebody e didn't said anything.
I think that we were very fortunate Ojo because when we when we played, we got the Chargers facility which was in La Joya, which was amazing. We got the Dolphins facility which was in Davy.
Which was amazing.
But when we when we went to the Super Bowl in Tampa, uh, the Giants got the Bucks facility and we got South Florida facility. So you you can understand that the difference in between an NFL facility and a college facility.
Especially back then. Now you think about a college facility, if.
You talk about Alabama, is she good? Or Ohio State you have something like that. Okay, fine, but when you talking about South Florida, oh joke, they ain't got no one hundred million dollars analytics, buddy. But right right, So, but look, it didn't matter. We could have played it. We could have played them joking in a late Yeah they wasn't But the Giants, we wasn't gonna beat.
That wasn't gonna sold that defense.
You see the attitude you have, though mindset you have, Like, that's the mindset that I would I would love for all players to have, right. I would love for whoever the captains are for the poor nine to say, whoever's whatever officials or personnel with the forty nineer that complain about the field. I would love Fred Wonder's stand up man man, man, fuck that man. We got work to do. Man, Let's get out and get this work done. You cared about no goddamn field. You know what we've been through
to even get to this point. Forget just the NFL, just in general, the playing conditions, the obstacles that we had to overcome to get here. You think we crying by some goddamn field man, lord of whistle, man, let's work. I'm that's just again my mentality in my mindset.
Yeah, I just hated what it was raining. Show.
I would show hoping that that coach you sometime would call practice off when it started rating, but that never happened.
Never, never, Or when it was snowing or where.
It was cold, I'd be like, damn, it's cold out here. But I will say this when it got really really cold in Baltimore, O Joe, Brian Billy had heat the sea side there bus so while the off Yeah, so why the defense on it if it's number one defense and it's going against the scout team offense to start, no on.
The heat hot seats.
Just like you was at a game, bike Sharey was playing that boy, jan Andree was playing that bull guy. Man, you had to I'll talk about this card now you know it get cold and never get real cold.
Oh yeah, snow.
And guess what offensive lineman All of them always went out in shorts no matter how cold it was.
Hey, did did your lineman do that too? What about what those pleas on game that they had a rule? No linean was sleeve? Oh no, you couldn't work leave iver. I never I never understood that. Now. I didn't wear sleeves when it was cold because I need to be able to feel the ball up.
Again.
I didn't want them holding, huh. Ain't want them jokes holding because you know they're gonna hold that something.
You ain't got no choice, especially when it's cold, and if you're playing on the slick surface, you always want that advantage of being able to grab right, to be able to maintain your leverage.
Ye, and so like even when I put on when I put on basoline, I never put it all the way. I just put it on the outside of my arms because I was gonna have the ball inside and the lad to have that thing slip out. So the vasoleene only went on. I never put it on. You always had somebody, the equipment guy put it on for you, but he never put it never never went above, you know, on the sides up underneath right, And I didn't, you know, And I didn't really, I just wore cut off and I didn't.
I couldn't. I couldn't wear a bunch of clothes.
No, I feel restricted.
I did too, I did, You're restrict.
I hate that. I hate the feeling feeling restricted another. It's a crazy thing people laughing at me. I tweeted, I'm off topic, just a tad bit to give you a little tibbot on how weird I was when it came to plan. I was rebocked during my day right, I had rebok take all the insulation out of my shoe, all the insulation out of my shoe. I didn't want any cushion. I didn't want any ankle support. I didn't want anything. All I wanted was the.
Cleat.
I want the bottom cleat and then put the shell around it and some shoelaces. So I wanted my shoe. I wanted my cleats to feel like I had a track spike on. I need to feel the ground. I need to feel the ground. Anytime I wore tape, the tape was just more sofa fashion. I hate my feet feeling restricted. I need to touch the floor and feel it as if I was wearing track spikes. When it came to wearing an undershirt, I ain't wear nothing. I just put my shoulder pads on, and then I put my jersey on.
I had.
I had to always have that as had a cut had to cut off. And then you know, obviously we gutted our pants. We were on the first team to where there were no pants. I mean most of my yeah they were, they were like spandex. But I needed to be free, right and so but Ed McCaffrey did exactly what you did.
He would cut all the inside out of his shoes and then you.
Know, ed any Eddie shoulder pants were smaller than the kickers, like his shoulder.
Was our Yeah it's army. Were yoked up, man. That's the one thing I remember Ed McCaffrey having them big ass arm with themast shoulder pass like is it Martella's Bennett. I used to do that shower pad like he had on some little high school.
Yeah. That's that's how Ed was.
Because I needed to be the first person that I ever saw where no pants in their pants was Ricky Jackson. So I want to give Ricky Jacks credit credit because we stole it from him. He was the first person that I ever saw that had no pants, no five pass, no pants, no knee pass, and I look so cool. And then I'm like, man, so we started like, hey, cause you know you can get Ed McCaffrey to do anything. I said, Ed, I think we'd be lighted.
We did it. He's like, you think, so, you think so sharply.
I was like, yeah, so, Ed, and I gutted it, and then everybody else started gutting their paying and and Frank Gord took it to another level here running back with no with no thigh knee paying I.
Was like, and then and then had his pants all the way up above his knee at.
That yes, with no ankles, with no table on his ankles, just out there, just out there battling. Yeah, oh man, but uh yeah. Uh So, hopefully everything has been resolved. I'm sure the forty nine ers have had a conversation with the NFL. The NFL has gotten the field up to playing conditions. What's adequate for those guys, and so to the to the old Sunday. Hopefully everybody is in the right frame of mind to go out there and give the give the the viewing public.

Mahomes told reporters tonight that he didn't think he was even close to halfway what Brady is accomplished in the NFL.
The goal is to be the best player you can.
I've been blessed to have a lot of great players around me, and now it's doing whatever I can to beat a great forty nine ers team and try to get a third rate. You asked me the question like fifteen years, and I'll see if I can get close to seven seventh seems like a long waves away. Does mahone need seven rings to be the goal?
I mean, I mean when you think about it, I think what he's done so far, it's a reason he's even in the conversation because of what he's been able to do in such a short amount of time. Now, if they're able to keep that team together, obviously the pieces are going to change that time due to due to money and players wanting to leave due to the
success that they're going to have. But with Andy Reid and knowing that the offensive mind that he has and the ability to draft, the ability to attract free agents because Patrick Mahomes is there, they will always be able to continue to have success offensively and defensively. So I
¶ Mahomes' GOAT case
think there's a chance that this can continue, and I think the Kansas City Chiefs are going to have the exact same type of run with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Andy Reid being together. That Bill Belichick and Tom Brady had I think that they're going to have the same exact type of run.
I would really like it even more so if trave within year six as opposed to year eleven or twelve, seven, right, right, right, because the like because you look at Mahomes in year seven, how many more years you think Trav is gonna be able to play at the level that he's playing at, And so at some point in time he eventually will start to slow down now to be able to try to replace him. Because think about it, Brady won some Super Bowls and this is not a knock on Christian Fourier.
He had Wiggins, he had a couple of guys that wasn't gronk, right, but he did have gronk from you know when he started winning the second half twenty fourteen, stuff like that, they went in against the Rams, they win it against the legion of Boom.
He goes to Tampa. So but for me personally, I don't think he needs seven to be come.
To goa noxact.
No, because I think the thing is is that we got to look at the total body of work. What he would excuse me, what Tom was able to do is that Tom got all the records. So let's just say, for the sake of argument, Mahomes gets five, but he has more passing yards, more passing touchdowns, more regular season MVPs, right, because it can be most rings because people say Jordan's
the goat, and he doesn't have the most rings. He doesn't have the most regular season MVPs, he doesn't have the most points, he doesn't have the most rebounds, he doesn't have the most assists, he doesn't have the most blocks, he doesn't have the most steals.
So it can't be just the quality of but it's the total.
People believe Jordan's to go because you look at Okay MVPs in the in the postseason he has six MVPs. In the regular season he has five, and his level of play well, So if you look at Patrick Mahomes, there's a chance that he might be five for five. Also might he might only win five super Bowl, But the likelihood of someone else being the MVP isn't very good. Now, it could happen, I Wasama Checko might have one of those one of those Rickey Smith type days and he
goes for two hundred plus yards. But even when Smith ran for two hundred yards. Doug Williams was the MVP because he had over three hundred and through for four touchdowns. Because it is still a passing league now, the likelihood of a running back. When was the last time of running back when the MVP had then the Super Bowl?
You got to go back. Oh, TV, maybe was a TV in ninety ninety seven.
I'm trying to think of another running back that won it because when Willie Parker had that day.
Hines Ward won the MVP. MVP.
Yeah, so I'm trying to figure out. I think it's TV might have been the last running back to win the MVP. It's a Super Bowl MVP, not.
It was TD.
Think about it's that's twenty five, that's three years ago.
Yeah, you got to have a hell of performance as a running back to actually get that to get that award.
Yeah.
Yeah, he had one hundred fifty seven and three tds and he missed the quarter for so, like I said, it's the way they in the way they've trained changed the rules. Now, O Joe, it's gonna be hard for running unless he unless he goes out there and have a Derrick Henry a two hundred and fifty yard game.
It's gonna be hard for a running back.
Listen you and obviously he doesn't have these not that style of back, but if you that type of back, if the Jacore that type of back that can hit his head off the gold post from anyone to feel like a Chris Johnson type.
Yeah, Oh, Christian McCaffrey then played the old Joe. Christian McCaffrey is then play because he can run.
It and catch it. Oh yeah, oh yeah, he's definitely in play. He's definitely in play for Super Bowl MVP.
Now, I believe he has probably the third best odds behind My Homes, Purty and and Eve. Next, right, if any running back is gonna win it, the best chance is it gonna be this year with ce Matt because he can do it all. Yeah, he could have one hundred yards rushing, he can have a one hundred yards receiver, and he's a touchdown machine.
So if anybody, if.
Anybody's gonna if any running back is gonna do what the last person to do, what TV did for the Broncos Super Bowl thirty two, it's gonna be c Man.
Versatile, so versatile, so versatile.
Uh Mooney Wards spoke about handling this week before the super Bowl. He said, well, the super bowls in Vegas, so he might turn up a little bit the first day or two uh two out there, but after that it's really just focused. Who is he played for? Oh don't I don't know him. The whole week is really like a movie. You're gonna see celebrities everywhere.
No, you not. You do understand, And this is what we told This is what we told the guys.
Hold on, you do realize the festivities is for the people that's coming right to the super Bowl.
Game is for you.
That's the only thing for you, the super Bowl, right, he said, the pre game you might see jay Z, Beyonce, Kevin Hart, you probably will. But still the game at the end of the day, we still got to go out there and try to wear this actually the super Bowl.
You know that. You don't want to f that up in the super Bowl. And that's it.
All the festivity that's going on and everybody gonna be having these parties and you, first of all, you know what Vegas represents minus the super Bowl. So now you bring the super Bowl, the biggest event in North the biggest sporting event in North America. So basically you got a five six, six seven exit. Yeah, your super Bowl in Vegas. You know what the super Bowl is like in Miami. You know what the super Bowl is like in New Orleans. You know what the super Bowl is
like in different places. Now add Vegas to the mix. So you already known it's own one.
Yeah, most definitely, yeah, at all. I think what the first two days they get to enjoyed themselves, right the first Yeah, we.
Got down there on a I mean we got down on a Sunday. We had curfew at one o'clock, so we got curfew at one o'clock. And then we got that Sunday. So you had curfew at one o'clock Sunday, you had I think it like eleven thirty maybe midnight on Monday, and then you was on a regular schedule.
Uh Wednesday, on Wednesday. Yeah, okay, okay, because okay, yeah, I think you know, especially for those that have.
Oh mondy Ward is Travarius Ward. Oh I was like, who that? Why should you put his name in anyway?
Man?
I don't nobody come man.
Call it okay, but when were doing it, you gotta understand, as we were speaking to people at home, that's not his teammates. And that's what I happen, you know, Like I'm saying, we call people by their nickname, because everybody on the team got a nickname, won't Joey?
You know what, I didn't even know who he was talking about. I didn't talk about because you didn't say you didn't, says Ward?
Yeah, travarious. So that's what I'm saying, like money War, who is money Ward?
Oh, that's that's his nickname.
Yeah, that's what everybody called it. Everybody on the team might call him that.
Yeah, I ain't know you called it that. Oh, lo have murch listen that ship the way the way you've been got damn playing. He can go ahead and enjoy it.
Be money.
Balling out of his mind. But yeah, that's that's the thing, Oh Joe. I think the thing is you go ahead and you get it out of your system. I don't know, I'm trying to think. Because they're out, they're out, they're off the strip. And so the NFL got these they got these resources. That's really really nice. That's conclusive, and so hey, I don't think the NFL really want those players, the forty nine ers and the Chiefs coming to the
strips and and and doing anything. I don't care if you just playing a little five dollar a hand of black jacket anything else. They don't want any cost cross contamination. So they're probably advising them. Maybe maybe they got a little situation set up at their hotel. You can play black jack, you can play roulette, you can play craft, you got a couple of slot machine.
You can do all the stuff that you would normally do on the strip and just do it here.
Yeah, I don't know. I don't y'all. I don't know that even even if you have all those amenities for them at your hotel. You know, the boys getting out, you know them boys getting out, they're getting out until it's time, especially the first few days, first, the first two days or whatever. Have the schedule. Maybe if you're getting there early, I think.
To me, I think she's got there yesterday. She's got there on Sunday.
Sunday, so I know Monday will have a day. Maybe you have Tuesday off.
Well, when you do nothing, but you got to take your pictures.
That's your media day because see normally, oh shoe Tuesday was was the media day. So that's when you put your uniform on you got your look, you got your NFL your Super Bowl patches pass, and you go out there, you talk to the media, and that's when you take your Super Bowl picture. But now the media aspect is out of the way because they make that a big event, right,
and so now you just go out there Tuesday. I don't know if maybe you have a walk through or something and uh you go, you know, you do what you needed. I think we had a walk through on Monday. I'm trying to think we might have had a walk through so damn long ago, but aint none but an hour or two. Now. Look here, I don't know who told you. I don't know who told you what have
walked through was. But I walked through with no joke, right, I walked ain't no. I don't know who turned it turned it that, but they needed to call I was a run through, y'all. Yeah, y'all be moving.
This is how we knew.
We played Green Bay right, and we played Atlanta the first two days. Ball didn't hit the dirt, y'all, boy, because see what we did.
I don't know.
Look, I'm thinking like West Coast, and I can speak West Coast. We put our plate, we put everything in the week before. So once we got to the location, it's dress rehearsals.
Yeah, so you know it. Now.
You might add a play here there and come up with a specialty play. You might add one play for third and one to three, or you might have a little gadget play.
You might something. But all the heavy lifting is done back home. So when we ate, So when we hit that field on Wednesday, to get.
It, yeah, smooth selling.
I didn't have to my game have to say nothing, right, Brian didn't have to say nothing, because we did the same thing. We put the thing in in Baltimore. We put we put the game plan in the week before, the week before we left, and so when we got there, it was just like boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom. Right, and then you watched and you watch that defense. I was like, Lord, have mercy, I said, boy. I felt so I batik them, I did, Oh, Joe, I felt bad. Man.
If you saw, if you saw the way Radom was hunting practice.
Yeah, hey they they y'all was thtunding up back then.
No, we didn't.
We didn't throw up. We didn't, we didn't thought up. Well, no, no, no, no, no, but you could sell. You could tell the way it was focused. They was on everything. Every guys who where they were supposed to be right, I mean it wasn't. No, everything was contested without putting somebody on the ground. Where they try to run a comeback, Uh starts We called him heavy.
Yeah there there they try to run a seventh round.
The one thing that Corey Harrison is one of the best guys I've ever seen and play in the seventh round. He automatically like if he got a whole safety, you can nod all you want to to the post. He ain't going he running to the seven. Now if you if you run across the route, you got it. Yeah, but height that he ain't bite that that that nodge to the pole.
He up under that seventh Yeah you know you you know you know these stars is my quarterback at Beach High my freshman year in high school. Yeah, so Samorrow Samorriw was the other receiver. And then when he starts left and Samorriw was a quarterback and Samorrio Road was uh quarterback.
Y'all y'all they win no state championship, did you?
No?
We ain't win No state though, y'all want someone on that teller? What y'all with all that time?
We was good though. Matter of fact, you know who else was there? I just forgot Terry Cousins. Remember Terry Cousins. Yeah, I do, Yeah, Terry Cousins State championship. It was all on the same team, man.
Y'all that when I ask you, I know, y'all going on the same team. You told me that at Beach High School in Miami, did you win a state championship?
No, sir, No, sir. We was good though.
We was good.
Now we was a fight to see now.
Yeah.
But that's the thing I mean, Oh, Joe, do you understand why you're there, because they're gonna chronicle this now. M hey, if you go back this Super Bowl fifty eight, Yeah, somebody gotta lose this game. Now, they're gonna have three people that's gonna talk about it and what it was like to go through the season, the ups, the downs, the highs, the low and the win.
Yeah.
I don't know if I don't know if they chronicled the Super well, I don't know if they have a talk to the three players on the losing team and it was fortunate unfortunate. It was fortunate for us. We won as opposed to you kind of leave at the same time. And you see all the buses pull up on on at the airport and pull up and you know the guys gonna get off the play and you see them guys holding their head down and we up there laughing and joking and talking and carry then talking.
Loud right, ain't feeling o O Joe.
I was like, man, I don't never want to feel like that. Thank you knock old would man, God bless me. I went three times and got all three of them because I can imagine I ain't.
Look, I ain't.
I don't know how you feel about this, so Joe, But I tell people this all the time, Losing hurts more than winning. Feel good, and you'll always remember the losses more than you went remember the wins.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, listen, I've done. I've done. I've been through a lot of losing, you know, during my career, obviously being in Cincinnati, uh to master losing. I try to make it as fun and entertaining as possible. Even though we were losing. We had a great year my two thousand and five season. Obviously we went eleven and five that year. Uh, And obviously Carson went down with that that hit no by the d tackle with the Steelers. That that's all on the first play of the game. Yeah, Chemo.
Other than that, everything was was decent. I go to the Patriots. I didn't really contribute the way I would have liked to, you know, that year, but we won, and we won consistently, and getting to that Super Bowl and playing against the Giants and that feeling, you know, after losing it was bad. Now it was bad for me. For one, I'm not contributing to where I want to and then on top of that, we lost the game. So it was a double whammy, right, And that was the.
Second time in as many years that they had just lost.
They lost to the Giants in two thousand and seven, and they turned around and lose to the Giants in two thousand and teams.
Yeahed about the Giants. I don't know what it was about them that what they just had.
Your quarterback without sacrificing their back. Yet then go and it comes on the plays, Uh, Tom sees the whole safety.
He tried to throw at the west back shoulder, West doesn't open his heill fully all around. He drops it because if he gets that, that's the first down. The ball game's over over.
Yeah, you remember the play.
I absolutely remember the play.
And I understand why Tom Brady threw it behind him because he's worried about West getting blowed up.
But our whole safety.
Oh yeah, he was sitting right there. He was waiting on him.
He ain't gonna blow his ass up. But see that.
But see Ojo, that's the thing as I analyze you and I, we played the game, and so you understand why quarterbacks do certain things. See when John would put the ball, Like, if I'm facing John, let's just say we call it a shortcross.
Some people call it a wall rock.
If John put the ball between the eight and the four, he's telling me, trying to get up in your shadow. They're coming from both sides. Just turn to get straight up the field. If he put it on one side of the other, he's telling me go to that side because he can see what I can. Right, So he's telling me, if he put it here, I'm turning in there. If he puts it here, I'm turning there. If he puts it in my chest, I'm getting right. I'm getting
up in my shadow. Now I'm gonna feel some type of way if he put it here and I turned there and do don't clean my damn clock, all right, and he you know, hey, I'm gonna be looking at him site like ba gie okay, But I'm.
Saying you so you understand that.
So when he look Wes being who he is, he wasn't an undrafted player, he wasn't a rookie player. Wes welcome was one of the best. And so that's a catch that you really expect him to make. But I understood, fool, Well, why Tom put it on his back shoulder. That's say, gonna clean his clock. And Tom is very conscious of not putting his receivers in harm's weight, spoken about that about why he would throw certain balls certain ways because he didn't want the guy to get knocked out of
the game. Right, But uh, Wes couldn't come down with the ball. They have to punt. And then Eli makes two incredible.
Throws crows that many ham Man and ham.
On the side sideline.
Catch against too bad. You can't, you can't, you can't do it. You can't do it any better than that. Yeah, so oh Choe, check this out. The Commander's hired Cliff Kingsbury fire Eric be Enemy. I don't think any surprise that Eric Benemy was fired. Commanders fire Eric being in me after one season with the team, Quinn said, he delivered the news to the enemy in person.
Today.
We won't work together here, but I wanted him to know I really respect the work he's done.
I wish him nothing but the best.
They also hired Cliff Kingsbury yesterday, and people are speculating that Washington couldn't move up to two since Cliff worked with Caleb at UFC and Caleb is from DC.
It's possible. Yeah, it's possible. I mean, when you want somebody bad enough, you will find a way to get up there and get him, especially when it comes to a quarter back of that Magnet magnitude who has an
¶ Commanders hire Kliff Kingsbury
opportunity I think to actually change that franchise around. When I think about him going to well, who the hell is going number one? Marvin Harrison Jr.
No, Oh yeah, yeah, I don't unless they know something we don't. I think they need to move up to one in order to assure they get Caleb Willis or you're gonna have to you have to give take a king's ransom. Boy, are you gonna have to give up a heap of ship for that? Oh, it's gonna take at least three ones, because look at look at what San Francisco gave up. But San Francisco. San Francisco didn't have to go from twelve to three. Right, But you're still gonna have to give up three to one. You're
gonna have to give up a two, a couple of threes. Oh, you're gonna have to give it up something yet, defic But if you but if you believe he's the guy, Kansas City people look like, man, they stole pat you homes now, even though they gave up three one, two or the three?
Right?
And that's just the hiring. And mister a Cliff, I always think about it when you look at his resume, it's not one that jumps off the charts at you, like, you know what, this is someone that we need in the building. This is someone that can help us from a coaching standpoint, And.
Really, they always fails up. I ain't never seen nobody fall up as much as he did.
And I think you know, he got the job based on relationships obviously, and the people, you know, and when it comes to the coaching tree, the coaching umbrella, and the coaching family, there will always be someone under that umbrella that will be willing to give you a job based on who you know. That's what That's what it all comes down to. It comes down to who you know and.
What you know.
Oh Joe, That's what I tell people. This is what I've learned since I've been on the business side. It's not about how much. It's not about your education. It's about relationships.
Yeah.
Yeah, I've read somewhere like eighty percent of the jobs that get fieled don't get posted.
Yeah.
Hey, oh Joe, you know we're hiring over here. Hey, Ash, what what you're looking for a job?
Hey?
They hiring over here, right, Hey, I'll put you I'll put a word in for you. Yeah. Sure, see how that workd Ojoe?
Every time, it's all about it's all about relationship.
When they say it's not about what you know, is who you know? That is one thousand.
That's why it's very important. That's why it's very very important, very imperative. Even those that are any check that are watching is imperative that you don't burn bridges. It's imperative that you don't burn bridges because you never know who you might meet and be rude to in life that laid on down the road. They might They might not be the exact person you need, but that might they might be the bridge of somebody else that can say, yeah you know what I know, so and so good dude.
So if you think about hiring them, think about hind her. That's a route to go.
Yep, Man, I ain't really never worked with Ocho, but man, I hear a number good things about it and laughed. I mean, I had a bloody that worked with the man. He a really hard work on time. Don't cause any problems. Okay they don't, but he do.
He cursed. He cursed too much, that's bout it.
So yeah, because if you remember, think about Cliff got the job why because he worked with who do you work with?
Caleb?
No?
Uh? He coached Caler and Lola?
Oh okay, well okay, okay here here, okay, okay, okay. I thought I thought you talked.
About didn't he coach? Yeah?
Yeah, yeah, that's I don't know, man, But don't you know how to look at the resume, look at the difference in resumes. How do you not retain and bring back be inge me based on what he's accomplished so far in the NFL.
Well, if you look at Ojo, Ojo, if you look at it, if you look at Washington's stats the previous year, they were down with the enemy. So it's not like you say, well, hey, we were the fourth best offense. We scored the seventh most points, We had to disc most first downs. I mean, so, so what what what are we hiring? It based on?
Oh say, what do you what are you hiring Cliff Cliff based.
On I get it, Ojoe, But you're asking someone, you're asking someone to hire someone.
And that look, I get it. I took Cliff King very had fallen up a lot mm hm.
And that's why I said every b enemy should have stayed his ass in Kansas City.
He wandered out.
He wants the opportunity to be a head coach.
I'm not going to Washington. Rivera was gonna get fired. Sam Howell is not gonna win you enough games to keep that job. Ojoe, you got to survey the land. You gotta up you.
Hey, read the temperature, Ojo, read the temperature.
I mean I heard an all season before the season started this season right here, they said Sam how was the guy. They said Sam Howe was the guy based on how you played good season.
If he's the if he's the answer, what's the question you asked the quarterback? Who's gonna be the starting quarterback for the Washington football team or the Commanders? If that's the question, If that's the answer that you gave. Okay, that's a perfect logically that's a perfect logic logical question, right. Anything outside of that, Sam and Howland is not the answer. Yeah, I got you, Avery be animated. Should have known that. I almost stay my butt right there. And now look
at it, Ojo. Now you've got Kansas City back in the super Bowl again.
How about this? Knowing Andy Reid, does Andy Reid bring Eric being in me back so they can work together again? And I probably will probably go for a fourth one next year? Yeah, maybe go for a fifth one the.
Year after that?
Red one thing about Red and I read Red Red you know be good people?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he very You know where you're staying with Red? Oh yeah, yeah, you know. I think being to me, he will be He'll be there next year. He will be there. I don't think any red would leave him out like that. I just I just hate to see a coach that has had success with two, you know, winning two suit Bowls, just just out on the street like that with other coaches that aren't proving getting jobs.
Yes, I agree, oyo, I agree, but I have to understand now think about it.
O yo.
I'm struggling getting interviews, and I don't, like I said, I don't know what happened to everybody say he's not interviewing well, I mean it's hard, just like, how does somebody not interview?
Well?
This is the system I implement. These are some of the coaches I'm looking at hired to feel the position. This is the defensive coordinator. This is the offensive coordinator. This is my glame plan. This is how like the practice during the course of the week. These are my meeting time. There is a lifting time. I like to travel at this time. I like to leave it this YadA YadA, y'alla. Right, I'm trying to that that can't be that hard, especially after you do it several times.
You should get better at it each and every time because you kind of know what the questions they're gonna ask.
But I just I don't.
I don't, I don't, I don't get me personally, I'm not taking that job. Why am I hold on? O?
Yo? Check this out?
Now, he's already on thin ice. I'm on, I'm I'm on the shore, right. Why would I go join somebody on thin ice? And I'm perfectly fine over here right? Because now look at all the coaches they got jobs. Look at the black coaches that got jobs. Raheem Morris, Uh yeah, uh, Ap got a job. Uh, Dard Mayo got a job. Now Drowd Mao and Ap situation was a little unique. Ap with the introim played extremely well,
we knew that seemed to be a fourgone conclusion. It seems to me that Coach Bell, that mister Kraft already had a secession planned already in place, that when Coach Belichick left, Mayo was gonna take over.
He liked what he stood for, he liked the man that he had watched him grow. But I'm not I'm not.
Yeah, I wish, I wish the situation with Eric would be enemy would be would have been similar to that of Antonio Pears with the Las Vegas Raiders, with the players vouching for him. Publicly, you know, even mac crosby going even to the extent of saying, listen, if we don't bring apn or bring him back as our head coach, I'm asking for a trade.
Wow. You know.
And I think if the enemy was that type of coach, and I see him as a players coach, I'm not sure. The only rumblings or any thing negative I heard about him obviously came from Shady McCoy. Uh, And I guess they're exchange. And and the way he coaching was wasn't he didn't see fit on on on on how he how he did him. And that's the only you know, bad thing I've ever heard.
Remember Tyreek because he says up because uh, Shady didch comment and and and Tyreek Reek chined there and say, hey, you're still mad because he told you to talk that ball.
Huh. Because you know Shady McCoy like to.
Hold the ball in one hand, Yeah he does. He does.
He gonna make you.
Talk that ball because the last thing you want to do is turn the ball over into the races like that. So that's what we don't know. I wasn't there, so I could I couldn't speculate. Uh, Shady has this reason why he doesn't believe that EB has become a head coach yet. I don't know what there are I haven't been in any of those meetings. I haven't heard any ownership group or anybody that could possibly be in those meetings say anything. So I don't want to speculate either way if you.
Ask me, But that's what he says.
Reports are saying Mike Brable didn't work out in Genescy because he was too large of a human. Diana Rassini reported, I don't think there's a fit for him. I don't think he's sat in front of of any owner who thought of his style was going to work for what they were looking for. I had a GM at the Senior Bowl who mentioned to me Brabel's physical bill that he's a very large human being and that can be very intimidating the people in the organization that's going to be a part of these decisions.
And that was and that is a factor.
What what the hell is someone's physical appearance has to do it being?
But he was too big, and you know if they he get mad, he might do something bad to it.
The type of excuses of the people that run these organizations. I want to take you serious.
Do you are you?
Do you really want to win? And when you hear stuff like that, you you think about it? Do you really want to win games?
What part of my note the end or the old did you get like?
Come on, oh, we're intimidated by his size? What are we talking about? I never heard a lot about you. I don't heard a lot. That's the first time I've ever heard so. I never I ain't never heard that one either, especially not not in the sport that we play. Have you seen some of the linemen that are even on your team whatever GM said that, have you seen some of the sides of some of the people on the old line D line? You talking about the head coach now, I've heard is physically imposing.
Huh yeah, I've heard that maybe he should lose You've got coaches should lose a few pounds, or he should, you know, groom himself a little better. I've heard things like that, but physically imposing. Kenny got coach excuses.
Excuses. Listen, I thought he only did players like that.
Well, clearly, I guess, I guess not.
That's crazy.
I mean, I thought I thought Brable, I think he's gonna get another chance to coach again.
He'll get an out of shot. I'm sure he's gonna get a shot at some point.
What about Bill, The question is, oh, Joe, coach Belichick is in his seventies. The question is that I think general managers and owners are having Does his message still resonate with these young players when you don't have a Tom Brady in the locker room that can control everything because guys might want to be mutant and Tom say, hey, guys, don't worry about that.
We got this. We're gonna win the game regardless.
So unless you have a Tom Brady or you have a guy the equivalent equivalent of that, say, Patrick.
Mahomes, is kind of iffy. Even even with Belichick being in his seventies, do you I wonder if he can adapt to today's era, adapt to today's younger kids as far as the coaching style kind of kind of manipulate
¶ Can Belichick relate to young players?
his coaches out a little bit to fit, you know, today's kids, you know, as opposed to you know, I think some of the same, some of the stuff he did during his day really wouldn't work or resonate with young kids in today's today's era. I'm just curious about that because it seemed like most of the coaches and most of the decision makers are going younger. Yeah, you know, as far as head coaches are.
Concerned, these young kids are different now, oh Joe, and and I think for me, I am glad I didn't. I didn't play in this era because I take it I'm too serious about it.
Right.
I don't care know about no cars. I don't care about no jewel. I don't care about how many kicks you got. I ain't got nothing to do with me. Can you help me win?
Yeah? Yeah, that's all I need to know. Are you meeting?
Are you are you ready to play? Are you practicing hard? Are you doing what you need to do to help me win games? That's all I cared about, right. I didn't come. I didn't come to make friends, and so that that's what I thing about you. I'm I'm very matter of fact and why I'm here. And I think that's why Coach is like me, because there was never man man. I wonder I wanted to Shannon is prepared. I wonder if he's doing what he's supposed to be doing.
Coach has never had to worry about that. My college coach told me, said if I had, if I had fifty Shannon Sharp. Because I told him, he said hey, he called me too, he said, two you ready, I said, coach, this was my sophomore Yearly like my first game of my sophomore year, I said, coach, you ain't never got to worry about me getting ready, I said, getting the mother fifty guys ready.
I'm gonna show up for you. Every never had a problem Mike.
Never.
You know. Hey, Mike would always tell me go back and look at about a eighty four. Get him going. That was my job. He let me.
He let me be me as far as practice. You know, I'm lose, O Joe, we got the soul trained thing coming down. But oh oh you're gonna do. Hey, you because here's the thing, because Mike looking at me sideways. So if you you mess up a play a walk through, now we're gonna have to stay out there longer. And so now I'm feel in some type of way because I remember when you was bull driving shooting basketball. I remember when you was bull driving on your phone. So
now I gotta talk to you. I gotta have a conversation with you because you're messing up the church's money.
Oh oh, oh joe, this.
Thing, this thing for real, right, Like you couldn't come in club shape shape like we had club shap shape. Okay, guys could drag guys, you know, hey, smoke. You know we played they play video games. We rolling dice, were playing cards. Okay, normally we don't let rookies come in there, but you know, with a Clinton port and some of the guys don't f up, cut you f up, and you come back up down and slam the door in your face and put my foot in your ass.
It's really, oh Joe, it's really that simple.
Man. Don't oh no, no, no, no, study your playbook, hey man, let me come up to the club. Shap your hell. Nah, you bust three plays today. You ain't going nowhere. You need to be in your playbook. Don't worry about club shape.
Right. I'm not winning oo.
Yeah, that's a privilege long as long as long as you're on point.
And so you know, we beat Ocho. We used to gamble on the plane.
Yeah yeah, you know them boy and plays spades on the plane.
They were playing Blue Ray. We playing We playing uh uh, they playing Blue Ray. We rolling dice. Okay, you know, we got sponsors at the front of the plane. They got to go to the bathroom. They see us, They mentioned some the mic, Mike's eighty eight eighty four. You know, I don't mind you guys gambling, right, but if you're gonna gamble, don't have the money out, I said, Mike,
money out of sight calls a fight. I said, we might as well scrap this and wait till we get to the hotel room because I've been damn if y'all not gonna talk about Okay, I owe you that, No, hell nah, I need to see the money on the wood, right right, right, right right. Mike said, no more gambling. Hey, no gambling. Okay, I shut it down. Hey, we're in gambling now, come playoff time. Hey, Mike, you know, hey eighty four. Do what y'all do back there? Okay, right, that's.
What we do. That's what we do.
But my thing was I was an extension of mic because a lot of times, O Joe, we handle situation in the locker room before they got the mic. That's what leaders do. You don't wait the things get out of control, and then you go take it the mic. You suppress it before he has to ever hear about it. A lot of things that went on in that locker room. Mike had no idea idea. Yeah, and that's that's crazy.
But what are your leaders for? You said you're just the leader just because that's just that's just a title. You've got to be able to do something if there are issues going on between team A. Bro, what's what's that about?
Bro? How you mad you married? How you married? About why you're married? About somebody you're married?
Man, y'all, y'all were back doing like that over there. But I know what you talk about it. I see where you're going to.
But I'm made.
I'm picking up what you're putting down. I didn't play that, and I ain't got no. I didn't have no allegiance to nobody's wife. But what I had allegiance to with that locker room and was to keep the peace. That was my allegiance. What you do if look what you did, as long as it didn't interfere with the locker room, I could care less on yo, I really could. Yeah, that's not my responsibility. Your wife wasn't married to me, you wouldn't married to me, so I don't give a damn.
But I tell you what you're not gonna do. It's not gonna interfere what's going on in this locker room.
So take that. He take that it somewhere else.
But that sounds like a good story. Now you might want to go ahead and share that. Well, that thing sounds.
Hey hey, But here's the thing, o Yoe.
I was reading the chat because I like to read the chat and say, like, okay, what what can then men ojo do differently?
What could we add?
And I was reading the story about this lady and the lady was saying with Shennon, what I've learned throughout my life is that when guys talk like you be talking, it's untrue. I've been on I've been on TV for the better part of twenty years, with the exception of two years. Oho that I do. I was out of work after I got the CBS, so those two years. But for the better part, so about eighteen years, Joe,
I've been on TV. Name the one time I've told you a story about something that happened in Baltimore, Denver, and somebody came back said that didn't happen. Name the one time that I've said something about since you and I've been doing this, if it wasn't true, that some females can get over there and get on, can get on a fake account and say, shan a sharp line. That didn't happen, not one time. I understand now in today's society, a lot of people lie, But what the health of I want to lie?
What the right?
What it is? Now? I got some stories that, oh Joe, they say that the only difference between truth and fiction.
Is that truth has to make fiction has to make sense.
I got some stories that, man ain't no way to happen, right, absolutely was it did happen, and I was there.
I was there.
I might have been an active participant. But that's neither here north there. That's that's for the movie, right. But guys, I'm telling you things that have happened college, NFL, my personal life and and like a lot of times, some of these things that's happened with female women in my life.
O Joe, we're cool. Thirty years were cool? Yeah. Hey.
The fact that you've been able to accord remain a cordial relationship with people that you've dated and been intimate with even after the fact, it's very commendable, very very very commenable, because most of the time, you know, things always end on bad terms and there is no you know, being friends. Once you cross a certain threshold, it's a rap.
It took me a while to get to that. It took me a while.
It took me a while because I was allowing these women to hold my feelings hostage. They were gone on with their lives, but I was in bondage. M M, so I said, I am not going to allow you to hold my feelings hostage. I refused to be in bondage, so I had to forgive. And yet it took me a while because some of them did some things that didn't have to do.
You could have just.
I tell people all the time, out Joe, I don't have bars on my house, so it's not to keep you in or out right walk in the door.
I'll allow you to walk out.
Yeah, boy, I like that.
And so for me, it took it took me a while. It took me a while.
Yeah, I've had situation, but I'm all because I believe, oh Choldren, I'm always gonna come out on the winning side. And so when they've done things to me, I was like, okay, it is what it is. You then you feel that's what you needed to do.
But I'm gonna win. I'm gonna win.
Mm hmm.
I've had said I've had situations O joe with women that I've dated. They ended up getting married when they're going through hard times. Who you think they called for?
Shanon?
I want to get a door, So I said, no, you're not. I said, you better stay with that man. I said, you gotta understand how old you think you are?
Mm hmm. You got two kids?
You this age?
I said, I tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna get you a hotel room. You stayed there for a week, y'all. Figure this is its shot. You don't need to leave him?
Yeah, yeah, we talked, We talked. We talked about it last night. Nowig piggings get real, slimy.
I said, who you think you about to get? I'm thinking about to get you and your you damn.
The fit rehere. Reality will hit when you down in the streets and you see what's left over.
Yeah, you said, because you don't have a disagreement, Oh he's said something that you didn't like or you don't like the way he Oh hell, now, y'all better solve that. And as a matter of fact, hey, I already got it taken care of. You ain't gotta show nothing. Everything that you need. The room and the incidentals are taken care of. Right, Stay your ass up there and makes a make sure you make the right decision.
Now, yeah, yeah, you make the wrong one. You're gonna look, You're gonna be looking down. You can be looking back mad than the mother. Come back ten years later they still married.
Thank you. I appreciate that.
But you ought to be a therapist, man, I could be oh t.
The way I look at look, you and I didn't work out. I don't think you're a bad person. You might have not been right for me. I might have not been right for you, but you might be perfect for someone else.
Something that's okay.
That's okay. Kept at the end of the day, I want you to be happy.
I might not can give you the happiness that you're looking for, but that doesn't mean I don't want you to have it.
And if you found it at one point in time, stay there. I say it's easy.
I said, damn, y'all the minute of heart, I thought, riches is important sickness in the health and.
Well damn that. So y'all just talking up there in front of the main hunh, y'all just lied.
Yeah, they be ready to go now and just any of the slightest inconvenience things don't go well, or or you do something that don't don't sit right with them, or they ready to go. They ready to go, matter of fact, and they ready to go to somebody else that gonna do the exact same.
Thing it worse. Yeah.
Yeah, but you know, you know my grandma said, my grandma always told me that you don't have to lie to you don't have to lie to a woman because she like you enough, she'll lied to herself. Yeah, for sure, have to lie to a woman because she like you enough. For them red flags look like six flags. Oh she's going for that ride, yeah, the color blind. Yeah, when it's when it's convenient, yes, based on the opportunity.
But I but I want I want all the women that I've been with and in my time, I want them to find happiness. It wasn't for me, you know, we didn't work out. But if there's anything I can do to help you, and and you're in a situation.
I got you.
It didn't work for me all that, Like I said, and even though sometimes don't Joe, it didn't end on the best no, the best terms.
We didn't end on the best terms. That's all right.
I mean I think that that came from my grandmother and my sister. Because my sister, like, Shannon, you just pray about it. It's gonna be okay. Yeah you still She's like, you still my little She always tells me this when I every time, every time I'm always gone through something a breakup, she always she always reminds me who I am. You're still shouting sharp, You're still my
little brother, and you're gonna be okay. She's a she's that calming voice because a lot of time I like, hey, I want to I want to bury it as you know what say, Shanna, what do you get out of that? What do you get out of that?
Right? I mean? My sister. Look, look, let me tell you what my sister did. I was in a relationship. Mm hmm.
Can we get the name is Simon, We're gonna get. Let me tell you what my sister did. My sister really because like if you call my sister, if you automatically. I would think my sister would take up for me. When my sister did.
When you're wrong, you're wrong. Now she got a hold you accountable.
My sister say you should leave it?
Mm hmm.
Chause he ain't doing right. So why you're gonna stay? Why are you wanna stay in a situation which you're unhappy? You know he makes you unhappy. You're not happy, but you're gonna stay.
Why leave?
And if it's if it's meant to be, y'all be together, you come back like a boomerang.
Man, I live it. What the hell you done done? What you think? What you think the girl did? Left? What left? You?
Serious? Man? It's that's too nice in the rook and then told me somebody left you. Now I don't. I don't like that.
Joe, Oh Joe, It's okay. It's not the end of the world. Oh Yoe, damn, oh Joe, CBS, CBS, let me go. I went to Undersfeuter got bigger under Let me go.
Now look at it. Look at the subs. I got more subs than undisputed you. Look at that.
Look at the talent they got over there, I got, I got, we got a new podcast. And we got more subs than everybody that got over there combined. So I'm okay, I'm gonna be okay. I even me, I'm always gonna better on black.
Yeah. Yeah. So I don't. I don't.
I don't get you know, when when something happened, I remember I wanted a situation and my agent said, they don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. Next contract, somebody else will pay for what you lost.
I like that.
I don't.
I don't.
I don't get upset. Man, It's not the end of the world. D strong, I'm strong. Hey, I bought a sixty eight. I came from good stock, not woodstock.
Mm hmm.
You would have understand where I came from and how I came to be.
Damn. I don't like that they don't like you're a good dude, man, because I'm like like that. That that that's that's that stung me a little bit.
Man.
That's that's too shoo. It's two times somebody, Oh they up and left, and oh that.
The first that is the first time. That is the first time. That's not the second time.
I was dating. I was dating the female and we were living together, and when I came home.
She was gone.
Oh hell, he like, that's the type of ship you see in movies.
Man, Well, hell I was. I guess I was living a movie.
Then, hey, oh head, oh Joe, when I tell you you're looking listen, when I tell people I could write a book, y'all think I'm lying.
Y'all think I'm lying.
You came home, You came home like like on some gone Girl ship, like the movie Gone Girl.
She was gone, gone big gie, big old biggie Biggie gone bye by Verdi.
And that's slightly disrespectful because if you, if you love me, if we did that was the case.
I didn't love it anymore.
Yeah, any anymore? Will you tell me that you if you, if you, if you've checked out mentally and you still here physically and you're not feeling the situation, where in I need you to communicate? Isn't that what women always talk about? Women are big on communication? Where is the communication? Why wait until you leave on some sucker shit and then pack your shit and leave in when I ain't here and I face face the wolf, come on nine, I mean, oh.
Yo, everybody can't handle situations like I don't know how you have those situations. But I can sit down, I can have a conversation. You're not happy, you want to move on, I'm not happy.
I want to move on.
I can have that kind of conversation, right, right, right. Everybody can't have that conversation. Everybody's not built like you or that like I can't speak for you, but to handle it.
Let me.
Let me tell you something, Let me tell you how I feel. Me and you're on the same page. I was born in seven eight, non I was born in seven eight. But one thing about it is I'll give my all and do all I can.
Now.
If you choose to lose, I never see it as a loss. I see it as one less expense. That's it, right, I'm doing everything. So now that's somebody else's responsibility. If they want to pick up where I left off and do more, so be it be good luck for sure being in good luck. But I always I always see someone actually leaving me or shit, that's better for me. I just think about how much I can say from this point on.
Yeah, So I don't. I don't.
I don't, I don't get upset, I don't fuss and fight. I want things a certain way. I like people that after you've been with me for a while, you kind of understand my manner hythms, you know what. I okay, Challna, don't really want to talk. Let him be right right, you don't won't want something like this or shalln't want something like that. Let me have this ready for me.
I want people to like study me and have without me having to tell you right, no, no, no no. I think the best relationships are you've been with someone long enough understand Hey, you.
Know it's funny. I like that you just said that. Like I've been moreal like so long. Now we're starting to look like I can start a sentence. I can start it. I can started, I can start a sentence, and before I even finish what I'm saying, she finished the damn sentence. I'm like, but can I? And it kind of irked me a little bit, like can I get my thoughts out? I know?
You know, because.
I'm gonna creat your habit routine, you don't change. My routine doesn't change. And the things that I say based on the situation, it never changes as well. So I start saying something and she had finished it whatever it was. I know, I know, I know all right, I know, you know, just let me get what I want to say out. Yeah, I would, though, let me let me say it, let me finish. So it basically it's like you. It sounds like you irritated because you already know what I'm getting ready to say.
You don't want me to say it.
Yeah, yeah, small, a little small, little discrepancy we be having. You know that that that starts the argument.
Yeah, but it's going to happen, O Joe. And you know, I think the thing for me distance it's hard because you know, wanting to talk every day.
All the time.
Physical touch is important. I don't see how people do long distance. I don't see how people do do long You know, when you're younger, I understand when you're younger, you really know no better. You know you're in love, you know, and that's puppy love, like my grandma used to call it. Boy, it ain't nothing but puppul love. You ain't gonna know her in three years. I ain't believe her, I said, my grandma and my grandma. Boy,
she's gonna be here forever. Boy, you in eight grade, beg you God, damn, I'll never forget she motherfucker left me forgot Damn Willis man, Oh look, we love we all?
Would we all have been through that? She don't have played them song, Lenny Williams, Girl, you know I love you and send for me Atlantic Star. I'm just a telephone call away. I may we all played uh that line of Richie song yellow, but.
You're bringing back I'm almost teared up back that that
¶ Unc & Ocho's heartbreaks
makes me emotional. Why I remember them days? Boy, listen to that anyway? You know, you not hurt. You got to be to watch TV. So TV went off because.
TV used to go off.
See TV that wasn't always twenty four hours a day, Like at midnight, the TV would go black. There was nothing else on. I know a lot of people out there that's watching this don't remember those days. But TV used to go off at midnight it would go black.
Yeah, and you don't hurt.
That's that hurt.
Boy. You know there wasn't a cartoon network. Oho, we had. We had a TV that had three channels on off And don't f with me. Oh you know what I'm saying, o Jo. We could barely see what was going on anyway.
Yeah, yeah, but you know, and I think that's the thing is that you understand, like, you know, look, as you grow, Ojo, your partner needs.
To grow with you.
Yeah, And sometimes what happened Oho, as I started to grow, they weren't growing. And then all of a sudden I became you know, I'll cause here's the thing on Joe I'm with Somebody was like, hey, hey, you know, most people gonna recognize wellam, They're gonna say, but I would always say, this is my partner. This is such a soch blah blah blah. But here's the kicker. When she
wasn't with me right, didn't get no acknowledgement. So basically what she was, what she had become, was she was like, you're drowning me out.
I can't be who I am, right right right? I like that.
I think, you know, I think I'm kind of fortunate. It's kind of the opposite. It's kind of the opposite for me, a little bit, like I'm still who I am. But this young this young lady obviously really has her own identity. People, you know that she has her own identity to what it's gotten to the point where, oh it ain't that's Chad Johnson, Oh that's the dude. Sharill go with. But that's the dude, Sharilla. Excuse me, honey, Well I was out there catching them touchdowns. That was celebrating.
What you mean, that Sharp's girlfriend. So that's how that's how people would refer to her. It wasn't her name. It was like, oh, this is this is a Shannon Sharp's girlfriend. This is Shannon sharp significant other, right, And she's like, that's not my name.
That's crazy, man. But I'm like, I'm still thinking about that. That that that that really bothers me. Like you going to work and you're going to practice and you coming back home from practice after hard days of work, and she gone, no, this was I was. I was.
I was in Denver, she was she was in Atlanta. So I came home after the season. Oh oh no, no, after the season.
She wasn't in my house with be at Denver.
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, But damn man, I mean.
I mean, oh Joe, I looked at it like this, I didn't have to play pay for a movie. Hell, if I had to move, I had to pay for the body of the movie. Ass about of them.
Hey, I'm with you when you're right and that's that's that's how I look at it. When when those situations fall apart, I remember the memories, I remember the good times. I focus on the good times. But then all in all, I think about what hell damn, I ain't got to pay for this no more, I ain't got to pay that. Yeah, and now it's somebody else's responsibility. Yeah, then I feel better and I started smiling. Yeah, damn, that's crazy. Brou Hey, I'm telling you, that's some ship out of excuse. I'm
sorry for cursing that old five dollars. That's something out of a movie. Man, that's something out of a movie.
Bro.
Oh yeah, the only thing I was mad about, oh Joe, she had cooks fans giving dinner and left all the pots about refrigerators.
You mean she left, she and clean up before she left. No, oh yeah, but yeah. See I'm glad.
I'm glad.
I'm glad that they hinted she worked.
Wonder one h
