NFL Weekly Game Previews: Week One

NFL Game Deview is a production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.

This is NFL Game Previews, and I'm game preview guy here with in depth primers on every single game that's going to be played this week. Detroit opens the year on Thursday night against the reigning champs. Lions start the year with some expectations, but starting off at Arrowhead on a blank night against a team that believes it's destined for dynasty. That's a tough first out to try and get we.

Lions and their fans and the rest of the universe really all know the deal with Patrick Mahomes at this point. He's the modern king of backyard ball.

Detroit secondary would love a hurried Mahomes. It makes it a little easier to deal with Travis Kelcey in theory, at least.

Jones, Chief's second year defensive end. George Carloftis is their other big golf hunting threat.

Smith under pressure down he go oh, it's carl Loftis.

Parloftis had six sacks as a rookie. Detroit has top shelf tackles, though, so getting to GoF before he lets it fly will be a challenge.

And that's who Casey Secondary should expect to see many of those passes go to Aman Ross. Saint Brown is Gough's main man on the outside eleven hundred plus yards last year.

Chiefs cornerback group is young, a bunch of second year dudes out there like Jalen Watson Trent McDuffie, but the VET of the group is likely to try and keep up with Saint Brown. The Jerius Snead is their CB one. He had a great year for them. Very underrated throng.

This game is the regular season break in match for Lions running back Jamiir Gibbs as well.

Wins it to Javier Gibbs.

The rookie is a weapon there. He is in the passing ye.

Gibbs first round selection raised my brows, so we'll see if they're still raised after the game.

Hers more daylight forgives up the middle, impressing early.

Chiefs are a team that has struggled versus backs in recent years. Gave up four point four run last year. But Gibbs will have to try and avoid Willie Gay, another young dude. He would have been a hundred tackle guy, but he only played in thirteen games.

He is hot. Willie Gay back there.

And Nick Bolton will be all over Gibbs one hundred and eighty tackles in his second year, says as much.

They're going to the twenty to the ten to the five touchdown, a defensive score by Nick Bolton.

How about a good old fashioned NFC East showdown to start the season. The New York Giants football team welcoming in. They're good buddies from Dallas. The play of Dak Prescott this season and starting with this game will be very much under the microscope.

This is the first time we really get to see what new OC Brian Schottenheimer's touch on Dak and the Cowboys offense will be. Dallas wide out ced Lamb should play a prominent role against New York. Close to fourteen hundred yards scored nine times in twenty twenty two cut it what. Lamb was plenty effective in both his games against the Giants last year. Guys, he's facing in this game more or less the same. Dallas swept New York.

Gallup and Cooks are going to wrangle quite a bit with two rookies. Trey Hawkins jumped up the depth chart after being drafted in the sixth round.

And Deontay Banks, new York's first rounder, both make their regular season NFL debuts. Cowboys receivers won't be staring at DB's with household names, but New York played QBS respectably in twenty twenty two.

The Giants rally to the ball and the ball game is over.

Dak can't overlook safety Xavier McKenny cornerback Darnay Holmes both held qbs to sub ninety rates last year.

Giants pass rush could cause problems for Prescott. Outside linebacker Cavon Thibodeau four sacks as a rookie, a lot more expected in year.

Dallas's O line will be pressed through the middle as well. Defensive tackle Leonard Williams is trying to rebound from a subpar season. Dexter Lawrence is trying to keep his momentum going, comes off a seven and a half sack Pro Bowl campaign. Those two will also have to play the Cowboys run game well. Tony Pollard gets his first start as the big man on campus five point two yards per carry, nine tds on the ground.

He will give Giants fans a chance to see what their new linebacker can do. Bobby o'carake makes his debut with the g Men over one hundred and fifty tackles for the Colts.

That's another good play by Bobby ocaraka that one. If he doesn't make that play, looks like they're about to.

Crease that stopping the run maybe a bigger deal for Dallas' defense, though the New York Giants O face should still feature plenty of Saquon Barkley thirteen hundred plus yards ten tds in his most recent go around the guy. Cowboys defenders should be plenty preoccupied with.

Cowboys had all kinds of problem stopping runners last year. So let's see what Mozzie Smith can do. They picked him the first round for this exact type of game, and.

Giants pass game. Jones has to hope his line can hold up against Dallas's pass rush. Will they be able to keep Micah Parsons off DJ.
