In this first class of the series, we examine biblical and psychological perspectives on temptation, which reveal that temptation distorts our spiritual vision, encouraging us to see opportunities to sin as good or attractive. We consider how self-control functions like a muscle and how various spiritual practices, including Lenten fasts, might help us overcome temptation by strengthening our self-control and sharpening our spiritual vision.
