Welcome to Never the Same, where we explore how people and ideas change over time, and what we can learn from that and apply to our lives and careers. This podcast gets its name from Greek philosopher Heraclitus who said, "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river, and he's not the same man." I'm your primary host, Tony Pisani, psychologist and suicide prevention researcher. Each episode, we'll bring you conversations with scientists, leaders, and innovators from various fields, highlighting defining moments and shifts in thinking. Because of my own devotion to suicide prevention, many of our episodes will focus on mental health topics, but always with an eye towards actionable insights for life and career – to fuel whatever impact you are particularly called to make in the world.

Just a note, while I'm a professor at the University of Rochester, Never the Same is separate from my teaching and research roles there. However, it's part of the same commitment to generating knowledge and resources to make science and prevention accessible and applicable to people's lives. Thank you for joining us. I hope these reflections and conversations ignite curiosity and reflection on growth and change that's occurring inside of each of us and all around us – remembering that we're all in our own way, never the same.
