Originally planned as an anthology series, Paramount's Friday the 13th franchise has become a hallmark of 80s slasher cinema. The second installment, released in April of 1981, introduces Jason, the presumed-dead son of part one's killer, Pamela Voorhees. After witnessing her death at the hands of one of her would-be victims, Jason continues his mother's work, killing anyone who dares set foot near Camp Crystal Lake.
