Episode description

Say Hello

Welcome to the Navigate the Day podcast, where we explore ways to make each day count. In this episode, we'll dive into the power of habits and how they shape our state of mind.

Epictetus once said, "Every habit and capability is confirmed and grows in corresponding actions." This means that our habits and actions determine our capabilities and state of mind. If we want to improve in a certain area, we must make it a habit to practice regularly. And if we want to avoid negative emotions like anger, we must replace them with positive habits like kindness and patience.

It's easy to recognize bad habits in ourselves, but it's hard to break them. One common bad habit that many of us struggle with is procrastination. We know that it wastes our time and adds undue stress, yet we continue to fuel this habit by putting things off.

But we can break these habits by replacing them with better ones. If we struggle with procrastination, we can replace it with the habit of action and resilience. We can also bring back good habits that we've let slide, like a morning routine or exercise.

Negative self-talk is another habit that can be debilitating. We often criticize ourselves and believe that we're not good enough. But we can replace this habit with kindness and care. We can create a dialogue that's more compassionate and encouraging, and be mindful of the thoughts we have about ourselves.

The journey to breaking bad habits and creating better ones is not easy, but it's worth it. By challenging ourselves and stretching our minds, we can become better than we were yesterday. So let's fuel the habit bonfire and make each day count.

Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!
