New research reveals an increase in global light pollution for the period 1992 to 2017. In their paper published in the journal Remote Sensing, the authors have shown evidence to suggest that Africa is one of the worst-affected continents. "The global spread of artificial light is eroding the natural night-time environment," said lead author Alejandro Sánchez de Miguel. The study was led by the University of Exeter.
