Episode description

The Nats won 7-5 in Miami for a rare series victory. Mark & Al begin with Josiah Gray's much needed solid outing that resulted in his career Major League win. Most encouraging for Gray was that he did not allow any homers and only issued one walk in six innings.

(11:55) Juan Soto was all over the scorecard on Wednesday night as he reached base five times and was a triple shy of the cycle. Soto walked twice; tying Bryce Harper's single season franchise record of 130. Where does Soto's MVP campaign stack up against Harper's case?

(23:53) Luis Garcia went yard for the sixth time this season and had a strong series at the plate. This month he has eight doubles and is hitting above .280.

(31:51) Alex Avila started for the second time recently as Riley Adams has only started one of the past eleven games at catcher. A flabbergasted Al begs Mark for an explanation as to why they are using the retiring veteran as opposed to giving the at bats to Riley.

(36:42) Cade Cavalli only lasted four innings in his latest AAA start, but didn't walk any batters. Should fans be concerned that he has struggled at this level?
