¶ The Essence of Presence
Thank you for tuning in your consciousness to the Naked Human podcast. I want to acknowledge your presence and what it took for you to be here today listening. My intention for you is that you receive what you came here for and find what you didn't know you needed. This podcast is about what it means to be a human being and what it really means to be naked and how our relationship with Mother Nature has the power to heal us.
My name is Carrie Cott and I'm a new to nature photographer, licensed physician of Chinese medicine, plant guide and wild woman embodiment mentor. I help women heal from sexual trauma, awaken their authentic voice, and distinguish between fear and intuition so they can be led by their deep feminine heart. I bring to life in this podcast my own internal wisdom. I will only share what I've learned and experienced on a personal level.
As you listen, I encourage you to take from this what you need and just trash the rest. So happy listening.
¶ Exploring the Concept of Yoni
We are going to dive into what is a yoni? I want to illuminate this because some of us don't know what a yoni is. What does this word mean? And I didn't know what it was. I didn't know what it meant until I knew what it meant. I heard other women speaking about yoni, and even when I discovered what it is, what it means, I didn't initially have a connection to it. So to bring this into a conversation, to offer clarity and maybe allow an opening to connect with this word.
So one of the reasons that if you speak English, you don't know what yoni means is because it is derived from Sanskrit. It's a Sanskrit word that means source, womb, vagina, and literally translates, means female genitalia. So your female genitalia in the context of a yoni, and what it encapsulates is all of the physical parts of your reproductive system. So that includes your womb, uterus, ovaries, cervix, vagina, labia, fallopian tubes like, and all the other intricate parts.
However, in my perspective, and the energy of what this word means, it doesn't just encapsulate the physical parts of you, it embodies a space of you, your essence, your emotion, your energy, you. And in ultimate translation, yoni means sacred space. Like, let's just take a moment into this part of ourselves.
¶ Understanding the Yoni: A Sacred Space
It's part of the physical part of self, the emotional, energetic, source, essence, this energy, sacred space. Like, this is a sacred space. Oh my Gosh. So when someone says the word yoni, they might be referencing all of this, all the essence, part of you, the physical part of you. They might be referencing the physical anatomy, or they might be referencing a specific part of the anatomy.
So, for example, speaking about yoni massage, a yoni massage is the act of entering into your vagina and using your fingers or a crystal dildo to stimulate and massage the inner world of your vagina. That also could include some external parts massaging, like the clitoris and the labia, and entering into the vagina and also connecting to the cervix. So yoni massage encapsulates those parts.
So yoni is being utilized to talk about this specific practice, yoni massage, in this way, it is all energetically connected. So, like, being in this part of your body is connected to your womb and your ovaries and your fallopian tubes, like all the interconnectedness. However, this specific practice and entering is the physical connection to this part of your body. So yoni is interchangeably dancing in a conversation of this part, these parts.
So to bring that to light, as you're listening, you can start to understand, like, what's being talked about. And since yoni means sacred space and it's enveloped in this beautiful energy, and I say that now because I have a connection to with the word, it can be a really great word to begin to integrate into your vocabulary when referring to this part of you.
So connecting to that energy of sacred space, connecting to the word of yoni and the energy of which it can encapsulate can be really helpful to claim this sacred feminine part and expression of yourself. And I also want to know if you're listening or if you're thinking about this or, you know, someone who doesn't have these physical parts anymore, like, maybe they've had a hysterectomy and they don't have their uterus. What I want to share about that is that you still have a yoni.
The essence of these organs and this part of you doesn't disappear. Like, the essence and the energy of the organs themselves still live within you. And the essence of being a woman and having a yoni as a whole still exists. It's like bringing in this wholeness, right?
And even if you're not having a menstrual cycle or you don't have these physical parts of you, that doesn't eliminate you from being this essence, this foundational essence of being a woman, I feel like that energy, like, the energy of, like, you're not in this space anymore, if you don't bleed or if you had a hysterectomy means that you're, like, less of a woman or less of this energy. And ouch. Like, that stings.
Not having the physical, tangible things doesn't dissipate you from your essence in which you connect to your embodiment of who you are, your vitality. And something else that I want to bring into this with the word yoni is in English, I would say that the closest word to yoni in English is the word pussy. And I just have it that there are a lot of beings who have resistance to the word pussy.
And even saying it now in this envelopment of this energy, I feel like it has a nice, like, texture to it. Pussy, you know, and there can be an opportunity to bring energy into that word in a way that wasn't there before. And so I. I like to use yoni a lot. So as you continue to listen or join in a ceremony or a retreat using the word yoni, I will also probably at times use the word pussy to bring in that energy or even bring in the conversation of pussy.
And using that as well, rooted in this reference of a sacred space. And ultimately, whatever word or words you use to describe your body and yourself and this part of you is really. It's really just up to you. So you are always at choice, and you can connect with where you are in your journey.
¶ Exploring the Essence of Womanhood and Language
And maybe this is a seed and an opening to connect with. With the energy, the essence of the word yoni, and connect to the energy and the essence of the word pussy. Both of these words have the potential for healing as we heal this shame energy, like bringing in these words and this energy in connection to a sacred space will allow healing. And maybe even just listening is the opening. And it's really irrelevant if you choose to use the word or yoni or whatever words are there.
You know, come from a space of feel, feeling free, like, you can have freedom to choose which words you use to encapsulate, to speak about, to bring light to this part of you. You know, the healing. Healing doesn't mean, okay, I'm gonna bring in the word pussy because I'm healing it. And that's gonna be my word that I'm gonna call. Call it healing provides freedom to choose.
And maybe in one moment, the energy for the word pussy is there, and maybe in for another, the energy of a yoni is there, and maybe for another, it's a. It's literally saying, my vagina, my vulva, my womb, my uterus, my ovaries, like, whatever the energy calls for, like healing provides this space where you are at freedom to choose. In every moment, you're able to use your voice freely.
So all of this conversation to bring in awareness, to illuminate what is possible and what is available, and to maybe see places where it's like, oh, okay, something there. Something I can tend to within my inner garden. So for now, this transmission on what do you.
