Welcome to Nacho Fitness Coach. The podcast where fitness is technically the topic, but let's be honest, we get distracted. I'm Sarah, the fitness expert who actually understands this stuff. And I'm Kaylee, the beginner who thinks Bulgarian split squats are a hate crime. Every week we break down fitness myths, call internet nonsense, and try to make sense of the chaos. while also going off on tangents, making bad jokes, and
questioning our life choices. If you're looking for expert advice with a side of whatever Kaylee does here, or just need a podcast that makes you feel better about your own fitness journey, you're in the right place. All right, let's do this. Or, you know, talk about doing this. Sarah, did I tell you that Dwayne The Rock Johnson listens to our podcast? He does. I mean, he's never said that and we don't have any proof, but I just like feel like it's probably true. You know what
I mean? I mean, I feel like that's the way the world is anymore. Like as long as it feels true, it's fine. That's where I'm telling yourself whatever you want. That's where I'm at. I feel like probably. Hey, Dwayne. Hey, Dwayne. Shout out. Hey. I know. Honestly, ever since we have went through like endless cycles of Moana. Now, every time I see the rock, I just picture Maui.
Oh, for sure. You know, I mean, you just kind of always have that one character that, you know, once you play him, that that's who you become. And that is just who I picture now when I hear his voice is Maui. He's got a good voice. He's got a great voice. We should get him on as a guest sometime. Yeah. I mean, maybe this is our breaking moment. Dwayne, if you're listening, we'd love to have you. You're welcome. You know, he actually has been to Miami because he's pretty
fit. You know, there's conflicting reports on whether or not he has any assistance in his level of fitness, but it's fine. Let's just be real here. You know, but he also has always kind of shared what his nutrition looks like. Yeah. The man eats wild amounts of food. One of my favorite things is his relationship with Kevin Hart. Oh, yeah. They are so funny. Do you know how tiny Kevin Hart is? No, but I just Googled how tall The Rock is, and he's 6 '5". And Kevin Hart is
like 5 '5", probably. 5 '2". And they are so funny. Heart tight. We should have a podcast. He's teeny. Oh my gosh, he is. Yeah. What? I didn't realize he was that short. Yeah, he's very small. I just saw a video of him with like a bunch, I think they were like a bunch of like, I don't know, female. This picture's him next to Shaq. Yeah. I think it was like him with next to a bunch of like female WNBA players or something. Whoa. Yeah, he's a teeny tiny little guy. Oh,
there's one with The Rock. They are so funny. And Will Ferrell. Oh, Will Ferrell is pretty tall too. Their dynamic together is just top tier. He is awesome. Yeah. But yeah, that is a, I mean, that's. That's a just, that's a discrepancy. That is a huge discrepancy, especially like, wow, that's crazy. But The Rock does eat insane amounts of food. I'm sure. Like at one point I did see like a little video where he was like, this is how many rolls of sushi I eat. And this
is how many eggs I eat. And it's just like, dang. I mean, he's. He's a big dude. So whether it's assisted or not, the man still has to consume a lot of calories. Yeah, we're not here to speculate. No, I don't really care either way. I mean, he looks amazing. So just keep doing you. But if you ever want to be a guest on our podcast, you just contact us directly. Like you can skip our agent. Yeah. Just get ahold of us like right
away. Okay. So today I thought we would talk about this little graphic that I ran across that. I thought it was just kind of an interesting way to kind of break down different ways of how you might choose to do your training. Oh. So it's breaking down fitness training is the actual like little graphic. And so it says. Did you share this somewhere with me so I could look at it? Yeah, it's on the little list. I just want to get a visual here. Yeah. I don't even
remember which one I just. If you highlight it, I think it's like a shared. Oh. Okay, well here, hold on. Let me see if I can figure out which one. Oh, I put it down at the bottom for episode three. That way you can kind of see the link. Okay. So it says breaking down training. And it says when it comes to choosing a fitness training approach, think of it in the same perspective as commuting. So then they have like a little graphic where it says bus, carpool. Or, you know,
you're driving yourself, basically. And so it says group training classes. It's the cheapest way to get where you want to go. You don't have to choose who gets to ride with you. You don't get to choose. Oh, yeah. You don't get to choose. When I say give. You said you don't have to. Oh, you don't have to. Oh, you you don't get to choose who gets to ride with you, but you'll get where you need to go. OK. OK. That's like
a bus. It's like a commuter bus. That's how he likens that to group training classes, which is very true. Which is like your. You're just kind of along for the ride. Yeah, that's your. Point A to point B. Soul cycle or your jazzercise or whatever. Right. Any group training class. Like you show up, you don't get to choose who's there. You don't get to choose what you do. You just know that you're going to go through a class
and away you go. Okay. So then there's the next one is like a SUV where it's like, okay, carpool. Right. Here's it's semi -private training. So you get to pick who you're going with. You have more control over the route and more attention through the ride. Okay. Right. So, I mean, this is kind of what I've done when I've done like my small, my small, my workshops, my small group
workshops. Right. So you kind of get to pick a lot of times it's somebody grabs like a friend or two, you know, and they kind of start, we put together a group with a schedule and then we let other people join in and they kind of
create their own little like. sure cohort if you will for you know yeah a little like you know groupie group session for four weeks sure but then it's a little bit more controlled right because we tailor it to the people who are in the group i'll let you finish before i okay get my commentary okay Do you want to go to the next one or do you have some thoughts on this one? Yeah, I'll go to the next one. So then the last one is like your own car, right? He likens that
to personal training. Like this is your ride. Everything is customizable for you. The direction, the attention, the music changes, right? You're in complete control. You're just driving yourself there. You get to, you know, have control over everything. So, you know, it just says you can take all the options to get to your destination, right? Because that's also true. I mean, you might. Use a little bit of them all to do different
things throughout the day. But it's pretty easy to explain, you know, the differences when people are just trying to, I guess, consider different ways. They're like different ways. Like if you're looking at exploring help or, you know. Sure. Class one -on -one training, you know, what's going to be best for you. So. I feel like I can speak on this coming from a place of the fact that I've never done any of these. Sure. So. I have a lot to add to this conversation. You
do? Perfect. I work out alone in my basement. Oh, you're like, well, that's actually like a fourth option. Just fly solo. Yeah. What would that be like? A moped? Excuse you. I'm training. A scooter? I'm training very hard. Skateboard?
Rollerblades? so insulting i mean a moped has a motor on it at least like i mean you're not gonna get there as fast but you're just putting away let's go ahead and read the first comment on here because you know we love the comments that was actually part of let me read that is better okay go sam jones from dot movement coach said loving this analogy except the bus group class takes an unpredictable route, stops wherever the driver feels like, and drops you off closer
to their house. Sam Jones, what are you talking about? The bus doesn't just stop wherever it feels like. What? If your destination happens to be nearby, great. If not, you might have a long walk ahead or most likely back. Oh, and the bus driver got their license out of a Starbucks. Sam Jones, I don't know what buses you've been taking. I don't think that's supposed to be the typical. of public transportation. Maybe they should have, instead of just saying bus, they
should have said public transportation bus. But I don't feel like that is the typical public transportation experience. Listen, we live in a small town in the middle of the Midwest. We don't have public transportation where we live. So have I been on a lot of public transportation buses? No, I have not. But I don't think that they, A, take an unpredictable route. B, stops wherever the driver feels like. Like the driver's not stopping at the, you know, local. Just random.
Come and go for a pack of Marlboro Reds. Right. You know what I mean? Right. They're at work. Right. I don't know, but drops you out closer to their house. Sam, what are you talking about? Anyway, let's move on. Okay. So that's just, I mean, that's just the first slide. Like it goes into more detail, like, but let's do this. There's another comment where it's like, um, does a group bus really take you where you need
to go? You know, another fitness person. And I'm like, listen, if that's what works for somebody to be consistent and move their body and like go, then yes, please. Okay. Oh, there's apparently typos in the last paragraph of the last slide. Cause that's what everyone's now talking about. Somebody said, what if I drive a Tesla? Okay. So let's go to the next slide. Breaking it down. So then he's doing like, all right, here's your levels of attention for each of them. Here's
your costs. So there's like the pros and cons
to each end. Well, and there's like a. correlation right so obviously if you have low attention there's low cost and there's low program customization right you get and then you step it up and you're like okay semi -private training you're gonna get a little bit more attention a little bit higher cost a little bit higher program customization and then obviously if you're doing personal training it's really super high like the attention is high but the cost is higher and you're you know
whatever yeah but it's saying that it can all get you results right Yeah, that you can get results from any of them because it's pros and cons. Sure. And again, it's you have to weigh all of those things for your situation to say what's going to work for me like long term. Right. And so then the bus take a bus commuting low cost option. And so I don't know. Don't get to
choose what it looks like. Absolutely. But they're going through kind of some details, which I guess I feel like we kind of already like talked about. If you want to stop along the way, you can change the music. You can carpool solo car service. Personal training is like having a car for your commute. You know, you get a lot more. Sure. But, you know. Are you still on the first or second slide? No, I'm going like all the way
to the end. The last one. You know, because if you're driving yourself there, but then you're taking on all the expenses, right? Because you have to own your own car and do all the things. And it's definitely more costly, but it is all about you. Sure. You get complete control over everything. Perfect sense. So, you know, I just it's an analogy and it can help people because, you know, especially if you have never done group classes or if you've never had a personal trainer.
I mean, sometimes you just don't know what you don't know. Right. And you're not really sure what you like. And I I've tried them all. I think I think that's the most important part is. Being open to trying them. Yeah. If you're at that point. I've tried none of them. And you don't like them. I don't like people. I know. Well. So like group classes out. I think it's maybe time for a little quick ad break. Hey y 'all. Thank you for listening. This is show producer
Audio Allen. While the girls are taking a break and I kind of need one too. Like, follow and subscribe. Stick around. We'll be right back. Okay. We're back. Yeah. Semi -private. That involves people out. Personal trainer? Absolutely not. One -on -one with somebody who knows more than I do? No, thank you. Why would I do that? Why would I better myself like that? No, that's too
much. That's pushing me too far. The one thing I will say for me was always the hardest part about any of these was that they were scheduled. And I hit a point in my life where, you know what? Couldn't necessarily I didn't necessarily want to get right to class at 530. Yeah. You know, for me, having flexibility over either moving it around or doing what I wanted to. That would work better for me just knowing that's how I work out anyway. I wake up. I wake up at
5 a .m. and I know I'm going to be working out by by six. Right. Around six, probably. And so if I don't, I'm not working out later. So I don't need that like. You know, oh, 6 a .m. didn't work for me. Right. If it didn't work, I'm not going to go later anyway. No, you're skipping it. I just never, and that happened to me, I feel like, more once I had kind of my corporate life and job. If I needed to make sure it got done, morning's the easiest way. Because you
just don't have any other distractions. I do not understand how people work out at any time of day besides morning. No, because life just happens. And then I feel like you get guilty. Like if life happens and things happen and it encroaches upon your workout time and then you like miss it or whatever. Then those feelings of guilt creep up really super fast. For whatever reason, I don't even feel that way. I feel like if for whatever reason I missed it in the morning.
You're just done. You're like, yeah. Yeah. And I don't honestly, I don't think I didn't work out. I didn't do anything this morning. I think last episode we were talking about or some episode we were talking about how I get on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes. Like, that's my bare minimum. I didn't today. You act like you do it every day. Can I explain myself? Here's what happened. My husband, bless his heart, he was watching a clip of us on the Internet of our
podcast. And he was like. You looked really tired. I was like, tune out. And I was like, that's because A, sometimes Sarah's boring as shit. And B, like, listen, I go to bed at nine every night. Right. And so when we have these recording nights, like nine o 'clock hits, I'm done. And this was like three days ago we talked about this. And so then we just we had a little brainstorm. And he was like, well, what if for the next few nights, because we knew recording was this weekend.
He was like, what if you just. Stay up a little later, sleep in, and just kind of try to adjust your bedtime. Sure. And so that you're ready. Did that work? I don't know. This is night one to be continued. Oh. You know? I mean, it's 930. I'm fine right now, but I also, I'm also, you know, I also have 800 milligrams of caffeine running through my veins right now. So right now I'm fine. But yeah, so the last few days I did, I stayed up late and slept in. So I did
not get my workouts in, which is fine. And I didn't, I don't know. I'm not the kind of person like life handed me what it handed me at this moment in time. I will, you know, we'll get done with this weekend and I'll get back to it and it'll be fine. But if I wake up at 8 a .m. like I did today, no, no, it's not happening. That time has passed. Now my kids are up. Now life's happening. I have things going on. It happens really fast. But I don't dwell on it or beat
myself up about it. It is what it is. This is the priority for me this weekend is to be here with you fine people and not look tired. And not look tired. I don't want to be judged by my husband through my social media clips that I look tired. Baby look tired and bored. Sometimes I do. It's so hard. You do get bored when you talk about real stuff. You texted me last night
or recently. I feel like you texted me. Oh, I didn't see it until I was up watching TikToks, but I didn't see it because my phone goes into bedtime mode. I didn't even see it. You sent me some texts about something and I didn't see it until the next day. That's fine. Nobody's going to contact me after 9 p .m. Yeah. I know. That's fine. I mean, that's good. Those settings are amazing. That's for you to control you. Thanks, Apple. I know. You have to be able to control
what is being thrown at you. Because if you choose to let it be thrown at you, it will. You have to be in control. So kudos. Yeah. That's been my life. So you have no interest of ever doing really anything with anyone else workout related? Not particularly. No. No. You know what? I'm just going to say it with my whole chest. No. Decision is made. I know. I don't. I mean, I thought about like, you know, my friends, she started going to the gym and I was like, maybe
I should get a gym membership. Maybe we can go do that together. And then I was like, I love her. She's one of the very few people I enjoy spending time with. Yeah. I'm still even like, no, that's the thing I just do by myself. I do. I do my weird dances and shit while I'm working out. You do some weird shit while I'm working out. You dance. Yeah. Oh, are you a good dancer? No, ma 'am. That's why I do it alone. Does it count as cardio or is it just like shake everything
out? It counts as moving my body. Like I don't give a shit. We have full mirrors in our basement now. We're like building a workout room. And yeah, no, I just get, I get real weird. Cause you know, I listen to weird music. Right. When I work out like Celine Dion. I don't even know how that's motivating. It's fine. Do you sing, too, then? Oh, absolutely. Yeah. Does it not wake up the girls? No, I'm in the basement. Hmm. I don't think so. Yeah. Now you have to go downstairs
to work out. Like, you should roll out of bed and just go. Yeah, now my room's in the basement. Yeah. Right next door. Yeah, that's awesome. I mean, yeah, but it just where are you at right now? Where are you at on this as far as like working? I'm not doing anything because my doctor won't let me. I'm in a weight restriction mode from surgery still. So but what do you prefer? I prefer to strength train on my own because
I don't like to get distracted with like. conversations like if i'm going to be lifting i want to just get in and get out and get it done so i prefer to do that uninterrupted yeah and i don't feel like um now i did actually really enjoy my one -on -one training sessions when i very first got started and for probably a year or so i did weekly personal training sessions and i did actually really like those um because if somebody's watching me do something and like counting i mean i don't
stop early right so it taught me retaught me how to learn how to make sure i was finishing sets and all that fun stuff but i because i do like lifting heavy you just don't really get that same effect in like group fitness classes or even small group training classes um you know that's less focused i feel like on that side of things but um for as much as i've always thought that i was not a social workout person There was probably, oh my gosh, it was probably a two
year stint in Kansas City. We had a Sunday morning workout group that we called ourselves the Casey Divas. And we, yeah, we would show up. It was so fun. Like a lot of us met through the competition, like fitness competition kind of circuit or through the gym or then like people would pull people in. And every Sunday morning we would probably have. I would guess 12 to 20 girls that would show up from all parts of the city. And we would like same basic fitness level. Generally speaking,
I feel like. But, you know, some of the friends that would come, you know, it just it would vary a little bit. And so we we met at the World War One Memorial in downtown Kansas City. And I think we said like 10 o 'clock or something in the morning. So it was like super early and we would meet. And it is. It has a lot of stairs. And so we would meet on the platform of the World War I Museum. We would kind of like chat and see who all was there. And then we had this routine
where we would go down the steps. And it was probably like three flights worth of stairs. By the time you came up from the landing and you would go down and down and down. And then between the World War I Memorial and Union Station, there's this huge kind of like grassy area that has this. Like a grassy knoll. Like a grassy knoll. And it had a paved like walking path on it, like kind of just around the perimeter. And so those steps, there was maybe actually four
or five flights of stairs. By the time you came all the way down, it was pretty high all the way down, down to that. Did you just see that? Yeah. It's just we have a ghost. That ghost was mad at her microphone. And then the microphone
just moved down on its own. Don't. he's gonna freak out somebody else is touching his mic ghost go away and so then there was but it was a small like downhill decline okay so we would start at the top we would go down the steps so the first half of it wasn't bad because it was down and all the way down okay and then you would come up and it was slightly uphill and then up the steps and you would be toasted and so then we would do like one loop every like 10 to 15
minutes and then kind of do something in the middle like walking lunges or whatever and then we go taking it so if your fitness level varied yeah you could either slow down or you would run at your own pace basically would you make fun of the people who couldn't keep up with you you didn't no no no i was like i mean it actually was probably the one time that i i mean i went every week unless we were in town and It was the most fun I have ever had doing, say, like
cardio, for example, because that's basically what it was, right? We just were there to run stairs and run that loop around that paved path. But that was the only time where group fitness I did enjoy because it kind of pushed me a little bit with cardio. You know? No, that's fair. It was fun, though. That's fair. We don't really have hills like that here. Obviously, you look back on it fondly. Yeah, it was fun. It was a
good time. No, I've never, there was a, I did a stint after I had my second daughter where I was just like, you know, I was like, oh, I'm going to get in shape. I went and worked out with a group of ladies, my cousin and some other ladies. It was just kind of an informal morning thing. I would run to Grand Island, which is like 30 minutes away. And we would work out. We would, I don't know, walk a trail and stop and do, I don't know. I didn't know what I was
doing at the time. Right. It was fun because you just like. It's a, I don't know, a point of socialization that's consistent. And I guess when I think about it, that was kind of cool. I love seeing, I don't love to be a part of it, but I do love seeing like groups of women getting together for like with the goal of moving their bodies and whatever that looks like. All right.
I think it's time for a quick break. If you have something to share with us or even suggest a new topic idea, email us at nachofitnesscoach at gmail .com. And we're back. I don't need to be a part of it necessarily. Just love seeing it. I do love to see it. Every time I see it, I'm like, good for you. Yeah, good for you. Glad that for you. Even if that for you. Yeah. Even if it's nothing, you know, wild or crazy. So I don't know. I don't know how I feel about all
this. I'm just like a troll in my basement, you know, sobbing to sleep beyond while I'm lifting weights every morning. That's where I'm at in my life. I start my day. And that's fine. And you know what? That's fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with that either. Whatever it looks like for you, I will wake up and get on that moped every morning. No, I'm totally going to picture that. But I also did love, like, a couple summers ago, you and I were going to the
track together. I know, see? And running. It's the same thing, though. I think it's just that level of, like, accountability. It is. And I was like, well, I can't, you know, bitch out because Sarah knows I'm meeting her there tomorrow. Right. I don't like letting people down, for sure. Right. So maybe that's why I don't do those things. Yeah, that actually was fun. And we need to do that again this summer. Yeah, those are really fun. Every other day. Let's go run. Well,
I mean, it would be like 5 a .m. I'm up. We could do that. I mean, that's what it would have to be. In the summer? Probably 5 .30. I mean, I'll have class at 6. At 6? Well, I don't think we'll do it on Fridays, though, so we can maybe do Friday mornings. Or Saturday or Sunday. I like running with you. I don't like running so much, but... We had fun. I do like, I do like track workouts. Those are pretty fun. I didn't go, I did not go to that track one time last summer.
I was there every morning, but unrelated. Nope. Not related at all. But yeah, it is. I mean, it can, that is a perk of, you know, group fitness or scheduling something. It's the accountability because you do feel like you. Which I probably actively try to avoid at all costs. Accountability, just in general. In every aspect of my life, really. Yeah, because why would we want to do that? Why would you want that? That makes no sense. I'm just a lone wolf. There's nothing
wrong with that. There's a lot of areas of my personality that are like that, too. I just went to a... We have a local coffee shop here in town who sometimes puts on like little crafty things. I don't know if our podcast audience knows this, but they call me Crafty Kaylee. They call you a lot of things. Did you go? I do love a good craft. Did you go? Did I go? Okay. No, because. There's people there. Listen, let me set the scene for you. I love what I've been doing for
the last couple of months. As I've been sitting on my old lady chair in my living room, it's floral even like it's a legit old lady chair. And I have a crafting table and I pull it up over me and I make little teeny tiny houses. Oh, yeah. Like miniature house kits, which is God, I love it. Oh, my God. I would not rather be doing anything else ever at any point in my life. Love it. So our local coffee shop, they were putting on a. Well, I buy these kits from
this coffee shop. So the owner now, she sees me come in constantly buying these kits. I've seen those in the back room. So she was like, listen, we're going to put on a workshop. Can you lead it? Well, no, no, no. Hold tight. She says, I'm going to put on a workshop. We're going to do a little miniature Altoid tins. And I was
like, sign me up. because that's a good time for me and I also signed up my daughter my 10 year old because she's into that stuff too so the day came we went it was me my daughter and two other old ladies and it was it was fine it was fine we had a fine time everything's fine everything was fine fine everything's fine but we got to talking about I used to dabble in making, like, polymer clay miniatures. I used to, like, make people, like, little replicas of people's,
like, wedding cakes. That was actually pretty good. Okay. Okay. They used to call me Clay Kaylee. Clay Lee? Clay Cake Kaylee? Clay Cake? I don't know. Nobody called me that. So I was telling her this. So anyway, she knows that I'm, like, super passionate about these, like, little miniatures. So she was like, wow. She keeps talking about all these things that like we should do this class. We should have a class like this. It's like kind of like springboarding off of miniatures.
And I'm like, lady, I love I like I love all these ideas, except the fact that I have to be around people. I do all this stuff at home by myself. That's how I don't want to be social. I don't. But I need to. You do like you. It's a social connection. Right. We've talked about that. Yeah, I think I probably need to put myself out there a little bit more and be a little bit more social. I basically only talk to you, my
husband, my friend Bree, and my sister. So, you know, probably needs to be a little bit more. But, you know, do I want to go work out with people? No, I don't. No. So that's my take. That's my hot take on that. You have to find what works for you. You know, people have asked me my opinions and it's like, well, but I have what works for me or doesn't work for me. I would like to start doing strength training with you because I know that you would push me further than I push myself.
So I often think about you in the morning when I stop short of my reps and I think. Sarah would have none of this. Probably not. And so, you know, I've got my eye on you. Oh, okay. Okay, okay, okay, okay. I mean, I definitely, people are much stronger than they give themselves credit for. Or they think they are. And that's where it's like, you know, because you don't, you're going to be, I don't know, for me, I'm like, I give up on myself. And then I'm like, but.
sarah would have believed in me sarah knows i know you could do it cranked out three more reps but i do and that's that's honestly the place where it comes from is i'm like i know you can do it because i can see that your movement is still fine you know it's just people start to feel the burn and then they want to quit i'm like i'm done like no your form is still fine you still look strong like trust me i can see when you hit that wall right you know until like
it's just like i don't want to pay you as a personal trainer well no obviously not But I would love to just, as a friend, you know, just be like a workout buddy. Just throwing that out there. If you're ever interested, I'm available. I did use the line this week where I'm like, well, you need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. You know, because there was one of the kids that was kind of like, you know, she got cleared with
medical clearance. And so this was like the first time that she'd been working on a front squat, a zombie squat, which you have the barbell then across like the front of your shoulders. And you're like, your hands are out. She's like, well, it hurts my shoulders. Well, yeah, you've got 45 pounds now sitting on your arms, which you've never had before. She's like, it's hitting against my collarbone. Well, yes, because it's pushing on your collarbone. And I said, that
hurts it. You need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable because there's nothing about what you're going to do in this weight room. It's going to be comfortable if you're going to change. Can we talk about you have been what coaching morning weights at the middle school? High school. High school. I thought it was the middle school. Well, it's physically located in the middle school, but that's where the public school's weight room is. Okay, because... But it's high school students.
Okay. I have a friend. I think this student... I think she likes me now, though, by the way. I have a friend who has a high school kid who has a friend. My friend overheard these two school children discussing... She heard the friend saying, I hate Sarah Sutherland. She is the meanest coach. Whatever they call it. I think she called you some choice words. She might have. And I was like, yeah, that's Sarah. Do you want me to apologize for that? I don't think anyone expects anything
less from me. I just thought that was so funny. You know, I warned them from the very beginning. I'm very intense. I'm very intense about movement. I'm very intense about doing things correctly because I really do believe the way we move matters and doing things correctly. And especially when it comes to the weight room, I have just seen over the years, if we don't do things right, you get hurt. Right. And injuries are no fun. You end up in a neck brace. Right. And it's just
like. Downhill from there. You know what I mean? As soon as I say, not if I do. Exactly. And so it's just like, I mean, I warned him. I'm like, you know, you guys have probably seen me in different areas of the community or life or whatever. But this is the area that I am super intense about because I really do believe that the way we choose to move matters. And we have an age group of children that aren't always mindful. Yeah. They're not always paying attention. To how they move.
Whether it's different from when I was in high school or not. I don't really know. Because I don't remember. Right. That was a long time ago. It was a long time ago. A really long time ago. But like. There is just a general level of mindfulness. Of like. paying attention to how you're doing something that has kind of gone by the wayside a little bit. And I'm like, you know what? That doesn't work in this area. Like you have to pay attention to what you're doing. Yeah. Cause if
you don't, that's why you're loving it. Are you loving it? I absolutely love it. Well, good. But you know, I'm also not willing to let them do it wrong without restarting it. I'm sure you're not. And so I'm like, Nope, that's not. And so do you feel like, what do you feel like is if they all had to fill out like a rating for you as a whole? Um, I don't know. One to five. If they don't like me now, it's probably because they don't quite understand yet. Well, they're
children. I mean, you know. I don't quite understand yet. I'm tough. I mean, I'm for sure tough, but I'm also not going to apologize for making you restart it and paying attention and doing it right. So. Maybe I don't want to work out with you. We're going to start over. We're going to do it again. You know, and that that phrase has flown out of my mouth a few times. And they do this first thing in the morning. Yeah. Just verbally abusing them first thing in the morning, like
before they even start their school day. That's rough, man. There is zero verbal abuse. I am very. I think your definition of verbal abuse and minor to vastly different things. I have high expectations. There's no doubt about that. But I'm not going to apologize for that either. So that's fine. You know, just rise to the challenge. That's fine. I love that you're doing that, and I love that you love it. I do love it. It just
changes my schedule in the mornings. I just thought it was so funny that my friend overheard somebody just completely bashing you, talking shit about you. That was funny. It was funny. I know. Because I just, yeah. Because I was like, of course. Oh, she'll like me eventually. She's only a freshman. She'll realize over the years that. Maybe I was onto something. She'll look back fondly. I'm sure as we all do. I mean, that is, that would, Alan, are you doing lunges out there? What are
you doing? Ready to move a little bit. Oh, I thought he was doing lunges. You know, that is the one thing I will definitely say that is probably the, the one thing that is hard about group training classes from like an instructor standpoint is you have a chance with like personal training or one -on -one stuff that you get to build the relationship with them. It's, It's a whole different ballgame trying to build that same level of relationship with each individual person in a group setting.
Yeah. And when you look specifically at probably high schoolers or anyone that's brand new to like their fitness journey. Right. They're all kind of beginners regardless of your like actual age. And that relationship is key. Right. Because you got to build that trust. You got to build just kind of that general relationship for them
to want to. believe that you're gonna guide them down this like right path and so that's that is the hardest part is when you've got 45 kids all going through a group class right getting to the level of like hey i really actually do care about you i care about your goals like i need to know where your injuries are i need to understand like i want to know you as a person not only how you move but like what are your goals what do you want to do like what are your
aspirations like um Which is really important. That is our education system in a nutshell. Well, we don't need to go there. You're like, this is why I homeschool. Just sign, seal and deliver that one. All right, let's wrap this up. So anyways, that's it. So there we go. We just kind of talked about the different types of group training and that's it. That's all we got for today. Okay. So until next time. Bye. Thanks for listening.
