A Graindelavoix podcast, hosted by artistic director Björn Schmelzer, about music, art, philosophy, history and performance from a dialectically inf(l)ected perspective. NACHLEBEN is a term borrowed from the art historian Aby Warburg, pointing at the conditional afterlife or undead state of art works, their posterity, always already alienated, disintegrated from any imaginary original context or intention. It should be understood in the context of a retroactive reading of history and trauma (Freud and his concept of Nachträglichkeit) and the crucial importance of “rubbing history against the grain” (Susan Buck-Morss) as Benjamin, Adorno & co aimed to do.
