Episode description

This episode features Dr. Lockely Knibbs from Florida Gulf Coast University. The focus is on understanding the different needs of students who are “Black” and how they require a different focus within the realm of academic advising. Not all Black students have an African-American experience, though this is often an assumption most American universities. Dr. Knibbs focuses on the Caribbean Black ethnicity within the Black race with whom he works on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University. This is the first of many podcast discussions about the need to understand the academic advising needs of Black students based on their unique ethnicities.
