It seems redundant these days to report on Apple’s finances when you could record it once with a “Apple made record revenue and profits this year blah blah blah” and call it a day. There’s a nugget there though while not new, continues to astound the once hardware-heavy tech giant and that’s Services. This quarter, that’s where nearly 25% of all revenue Apple generated came from.
What do you call it when you travel for four days to spend two days at an event? Something Guy would do. For some reason, Facebook is unhappy that Apple doesn't let them track iPhone users with all the things they do. Sure it cost them 12 billion to lose that, but what's 12 billion between friends?.

When it comes to upgradability, Apple’s devices going back well into the Intel years have not exactly been the best examples. Even the simple things like RAM and storage have been missing from most of Apple’s lineup for many years. Looking forward into the M-processor years, this isn’t likely to change much and there are some very good, if not extremely frustrating reasons why.

Maybe “lies” is a bit strong, but we’ve yet to see any kind of announcement officially for an event that is 3 weeks away according to sources. Of course in these days of spectacular events that no one is allowed to go to and can be done by a guy hitting a “play” button while on his smoke break it isn’t beyond the realm of possibilities either.
Seems like every week there’s a new story about a security break down between our smart devices and reportedly unintended consequences of the apps we use and auxiliary features and hardware those apps use. Case in point, this week it’s the popular conferencing app Zoom.

A mandatory Android and iOS app for all Olympic athletes and visitors for the 2022 Winters games allegedly can listen in with no prompting from the user. However it makes up for this by storing and sending personal information like GPS data, any medical history, contact information, and so on to unknown servers unencrypted. So it’s got that going for it.

Yeah we know Apple is coming out with new Macs all sporting the latest M-designed chips, but what will they call them? So far there hasn’t been much in the way of originality when it comes to naming conventions for Apple devices (Air and Pro being the most innovative sheesh) and there likely won’t be much this go round either…or will there be?

Ah the season of Black Friday madness is nearly here and with it comes the shouts of happiness and screams of "HEY! That's MY parking space!" at 3 in the morning to get a 50-inch off brand 4K TV set from an unpronounceable Chinese manufacturer for $200. Well, we're better than that aren't we? No? Well, we're likely buy better stuff anyway.
Apple's big growth days in their existing markets are likely pretty much over. Sure they sell a few more gizmos in each segment each quarter, but their share is pretty much stagnant within a few percentage points. So where are they likely to go to next?
There are times when vastly more important things come up than recording the 870th episode of a long running podcast. However going to see the Ravens lose to the Bengals isn’t likely on that list. A data dump usually means a massive transfer from one place to another. In this case it meant a dying enclosure and two failed hard drives. A bit of bad luck for Guy turns into a teachable moment
Believe it or not, we had sort of intended to do a show from Macstock or nearby at least, but circumstanced deemed otherwise.Some virtual (but very real) technical issues, audio feedback, and the fact that Guy took a laptop running a Mojave beta (so no Rogue Amoeba apps could be run) meant that frankly it was just impossible. It also didn’t matter how many microphones Guy took with him (over 10) no matter what he thought at the time he was gathering them.
