So no video last week because stuff was broken…for once not by Guy or because of Guy, or due to Guy doing something wrong. There’s a first for everything. One benefit of using Apple products is that they last typically a very long time. Can you use older Mac and Apple gear and still do the latest stuff? Also we interrupt the show to watch a rocket take off.
Some stuff in the works? Other stuff on hold? Do we really know for sure? ABSOLUTELY NOT! But we’ll spend a lot of time talking about it anyway! Lastly, there is FINALLY a really good reason why no one will put Guy in charge of the world….and it involves ducks.
Gaz and Guy take social distancing to the EXTREME by talking thousands of miles away from each other but do admit they don’t wear masks while podcasting. Also, why is it that the winners of these class action lawsuits seem to be mostly lawyers?
So the MyMac Podcast has been around for 800 shows. If you count the mini shows and one offs, it’s really been way more than that, but let’s just deal with 800 official MyMac Podcasts. Valve has decided that SteamVR, their platform of choice to work with virtual reality software and hardware, will not work with the macOS. This…shall not stand. Guy wants to to experiment with eCamm’s Call Recorder maybe with this very show! Or not
The new iPhone SE has arrived at Guy’s house and notifications related to Wi-Fi calling are driving him insane-ier. Not just a new iPhone but also the Magic Keyboard for the 11 and 12.9-inch 2020 AND 2018 iPad Pros have been released. But the GMen actually don't spend a lot of time talking about them.
Alright not a real BIG surprise that it was released, but the specs kinda were. Has the same processor as its iPhone 11 big brother and at a cost that nearly everyone can afford. Even Guy "might" have jumped in, but you'll need to listen to this extra-long show to find out. The after show is rated a little more PG-13-ish than usual too.
Just what that somebody is supposed to do isn't directly addressed by the GMen, but it's about tech news and not being stuck inside forever. Considering they had nothing to talk about 45 minutes before recording, this is one of the longest shows they've done in awhile, and the main subject is about should companies invest in dumb terminals to give to people stuck working from home?
As we all start going a little nuts over being stuck inside, take comfort in the fact that this is what it's like for the GMen...24 -7. Lots of rumors about a new low cost iPhone and WILL come out last week! Except it didn't.

Both desktop and laptops of various shapes, sizes, and options. But what do you do if none of them fit exactly what you want or need?

After talking about it for FAR too long, Gaz and Guy finally reach show 500...which is this episode numbered 785. In this pinnacle episode, they announce the winners of the bumper contest, go over a little bit of news, discuss fun things to do with their wives, and find out that you have to be VERY careful when talking about what Apple shares may hit.
Gaz is not feeling well but like a trooper makes it to the show. They discuss their holidays, what potential directions the Mac might go in, and tamales. That's right...tamales.
Christmas gifts gone wrong but with the best of intentions! Hey it happens. Would Apple make a purely gaming Mac? Is that even a question? Apparently it is at least for this week. Also some discussion about Bootcamp and Gaz wants to track himself.
So this not a regular MyMac Podcast with all the stuff we normally do, but there are some familiar bits. Little warning, the language is saltier than normal, but nothing you couldn't say on network TV. They talk about the follies of following Guy's tech advice (who knew?), and visitors vaguely feline come a calling. Guy talks about losing his cat Shadow and Christmas prep for the GMen. Greg from NC sends in a few bumpers and they weirdly talk about the NFL.
So we're in the middle of doing the show when this weird vaguely looking like a UK telephone box but not enough to get sued over suddenly appears! Out pops Karl and Dean from the Mac and Forth podcast! It wasn't set up or contrived at all! We talk about the events over the last year and generally just have a good time. What did you think we were going to do?
A longer show than we've done in awhile. If you like nonsensical meanderings about ultra-wideband technology that won't be adequately explained and an extra long after show with pub singers, then you'll LOVE this week's episode! If you don't...well you won't enjoy it as much.
Sir Jony has left the building, and Apple's leadership page on their website and there's no coming back from that...probably. Thanksgiving was wonderful for Guy and Gaz is getting all his walks in. The big question, is it really necessary to constantly upgrade your Apple stuff each year? Can you let it go few a few cycles?
So we go right from house colonoscopies (you had to be there) to talking about recent changes in laws surrounding privacy in certain countries. New bumpers from Karl Madden (Mac Forth Podcast) are freaking great. Only about 5 more podcasts to get your bumpers in for the contest!
So there's a new 16 inch MacBook Pro but the GMen completely ignore it because frankly, EVERYONE else was talking about it already. Instead they talk about the Goldman Sachs algorithm used to determine credit worthiness for the Apple Card. Sound boring? Is this your first time here?
With all the changes in Apple over the last few years, their BIG growth hasn't been with phones or computers, but with services and the bottom line is starting to reflect that. The GMen have a lengthy discussion about that and naturally resolve the entire issue...sure we did.
