Late in the January transfer window, right in the middle of a Champions League campaign, isn’t exactly the ideal time to reshuffle your squad and play what feels like a Fantasy Football wildcard. However, Unai Emery had seen enough - his Villa side still hadn’t convinced him they could deliver when it truly mattered at the business end of the season. Now, with the additions of players like Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, there’s hope that Villa will find a new lease of life as they push for success on multiple fronts. We look at the mid-season switches that took place and question the reactive nature of what went on.
