Episode description

Co-hosts Tobi Hines and Matt Ryan are back with part 2 of our Teaching Sustainability episode! This month, we talk about why “reduce” and “reuse” come before recycling in the waste management hierarchy. We also share some easy tips for living a more sustainable lifestyle, including how to cut down on single-use plastics, and discuss the environmental – and social! – benefits of secondhand clothing. Then we are joined by special guests Amelia Kallaher (Applied Social Science Librarian, Mann Library) and Professor Lori Leonard (Development Sociology) to talk about Lori’s Global Garbage class, and how a partnership with Mann Library has led to a successful podcasting project for her students (Trash Talk Podcasts: http://blogs.cornell.edu/globalgarbage/).
