Episode description

The individual referred to as the Vaslui serial killer, known in Romanian as Criminalul în serie din Vaslui, is an unidentified perpetrator responsible for the murders of four women in Vaslui County between the years 2000 and 2004.

Murders

Although no one has been formally charged in connection with these homicides, law enforcement officials have identified convicted murderer Cătălin Ciolpan as the primary suspect. Ciolpan, who worked as a heavy goods vehicle driver, was found guilty of two sexually motivated murders committed in Austria and Germany in 2014 and 2016, respectively, and is currently serving two life sentences for these offenses.

On October 12, 2000, Marcela Tomozei, a 29-year-old nurse and the wife of a priest residing in Crețești, was last seen entering the vehicle of an unknown individual near Tecuci while en route to a labor strike. The following day, her body was discovered near a brick factory in Bârlad; she had been strangled with her own scarf, which, along with her jewelry, was missing.
