Welcome to the women while in our podcast, you guys the girl anybody, she girl, she go Pretty's Welcome to the women While and Out podcast. These guys are the ladies and wild and Out control them. You better get your show. Hello, ladies, tonight we're gonna have the women a while, you know podcasts on the car tag girl beat someone here, beautiful, beautiful. I was gonna say, whiling
our girl, but you know, Nick, change that. It's wilding out guys, because we are elevating, we're evolving, we're maturing. Um and I got my girl breathe to the right of me free, I'm here. I think we're gonna do a nice little toast now to keep us on. Let's just kick it out some wine. Girl. Oh yeah, okay, okay, we're gonna okay what we're going. That's you, Okay, I'm
not one. Let's talk. You know, because I thought about this, actually you say this a lot with this in the industry, and I thought about it today on stage looking at Nick, I was like, longevity. This man has been in the industry for seventy plus years and no, seriously, he's you know, he's aging and he looks so good. He's still relevant, he's handsome, he's successful. And I was literally looking at him saying, I'm like, I just want longevity. God give
me longevity. So let's cheers to longevity. And whenever we decide to do, you have longevity. You want to be a post to worker, you have longevity. If you want to be a comedian, you have longevity. In God would just continue to open up doors. Okay, guys, well now that we're talking about handsome, Now that'd not handsome subjects. What is the worst state y'all have been on? Oh my god, let me stop first. You was probably worse to him, Like, no, I wasn't, Actually I would, okay.
So I so I was talking to somebody for like four years right like just and I just wanted to branch out because I was toxic. So I was in um this this. First of all, I was at my home grounds and this guy picked me up. First of all, heat passed the house and stop at the top side and said, I'm as sad. I said, I gotta walk to you inside. So I walked to him and I was like, okay. When I was like, I was like, why do you just pull back to the house? Is right there. Then I was like, okay, cool, then we're
chopping it up. Didn't go inside, didn't even introduce itself, not even just say hey, because that's I met him through them my friends. I was at home and then I said, let's just go around the neighborhood and just park up and talk and chat up. Honey. We was in the car just chopping up. All I smell was a burb. I said, I'm never talking to you ever in life, like that ship was safe. I was like that burp was so stink. I said, you turn the
window down. I'm never talking to you. No. No, when when he when he burped, okay, when he made that nasty, disgusting birth, I said, I like this, I'm going back in the house that like, And it wasn't even a date. It was like turned off. It was seen was in the date. But it was like moment where like because you know me, be, I don't go on dates. I've
never like been on things like that. Like literally my situation was that, yeah, it was like nothing like romantic and like uh, it was always like we're gonna go where they want to go or whatever. So now I'm getting like I'm gonna step out. So I was like, let me just you know how light him in his car and like just chop it up to see his head at he showed me where his breath was That birth disgusting. Never again, that is hiarious? Did you just get out? Leave? I said, let go back house? Have
you what was yours? Well? My dammas ended up dating him after this, but I literally, how'd you say that? Literally? I've met this man on riya? What's that? What? Girl? Right? Okay? So it's for like whatever verified, yeah, like industry or something. Basically that's what I should have been like, I don't know. That's my girlfriend talked me into it. I was like, I don't want to do this. They ended up putting me on it, and I was like it was on here, Yeah, I'm on her now, girl, don't go on there. I
met this man. He picked me up with the girl he was already dating. You're lying where to God picks me up with this girl and I have no idea. I'm like, Hi, what's up? Where we're going? We're going to salsa? I'm like, I don't dance, Well, we're going to salsa? Dances with this girl in front of me. The whole night, and I'm like, this is the weirdest thing I've ever experienced. She's trying to dance with me, and then I find out he was trying to swinger. Oh,
this has gone so at least so bad. It was awful. And after that I tried to uber and then they corned me outside and it was like the most awkward thing ever. And then she started damning me and I had the blocker. Oh my god, yes, so that's the messed up heart. So then we stopped talking, like so yeah, so then so then we stopped talking and then I run into him again. We have mutual friends, and then we end up dating for two years. Wow. Yeah, did
you say badly? The same thing? The same thing? But yeah, don't do it, bless you? Where is your where is your mask? You ain't got a shield, you ain't got a mask up in your elbow, and you're gonna touch me with that? First of all, you noticed you were saying it all week, allergies, allergies where every day? Yeah, I had I had two many bad days to even talk about. I live in Atlanta, So a day in Atlanta is meet me here, and you end up meeting at the strip club and you're just walk in. You
can't even you don't even talk. It's just to throw some money. And that's a date. That's a date. That's it, you know. So, but I've had some great dates lately. Let's talk about that. On another episode, we have an episode a love manifesting love because we are okay because every time it comes up, you're like, that's the next tell you all this. On another episode, We're gonna have
an episode about love. But I wrote down something November two thousand nineteen, and I was so detailed, and I met my boyfriend eight months later and everything that I wrote, it's my boyfriend. When you manifest that, there's something that you missed that? What girl? Anyways, anyways, anyways, anyways, we're gonna take a break. We're gonna talk to the funny
and hilarious cast member mad E Smith, my girl. I think this girl is so funny and I'm excited to her what she'd be doing, Excited to have her on the show because I feel like I've worked with her for so long and I don't know much about her. There's three d people working in production and helping on set, and there's so many cast members, and you you know, you you talk to people, but you tend to stay with you know, and pep you're comfortable with. And I hang out with V all the time and Jess and
whoever I'm with. But when I talk to Maddie, I'm like, she just makes me laugh. And she's so cute and she's so funny and talented and beautiful. So I can't wait to get to know her a little more. We will be right back after this. Welcome to the women of Wilding Out Podcast Girl TV. And you know, we got to bring up my my castmate. She's hilarious. I mean, she's goofy, she's Maddie was girl. Come on, Madie, Hey, you're no wine for me, no problem, I being uh
sitting in cars tomorrow. You drink too clean clear for it? You know, do you drink sometimes? But it's just for her, a little sweet like community, just for the why not, just a little prop for the end so we can do our little Yeah, that's it. You ain't even gotta drink out of it. Okay, cool? Yeah, But um so tell us in the viewers, because I'm getting to know you a little more. To actually asked, was it today? I asked you where you were from. Yeah, yeah, and
you were like New York. I was like, someone's funny talking to your face today. I was like, you were so pretty. Where from and how old are you? And social security? Yeah, yeah, I'm from Buffalo. I live in New York City now, but I moved from Buffalo five years ago. And how long have you been doing comedy? Five years? I started when I moved to New York City. Yeah, what made you get into the comedy world? What were you doing before? Question? Sorry? So I moved to New
York City for a job. Shifty job. I don't even know what that what a job? Is that shitty job? A shitty job? I thought it was some white people shi New York City said, I didn't get shitty cop balls, motherfucker's and she's here. Yeah. I moved to New York for a job. And then I had no friends in New York City because it's a lonely place. And after college, I was like, uh, just like lonely New York City. So I started to do open mics in the city.
I was always like pretty funny in my friend group, but I just did it in New York City because you can do it there and be anonymous. I used to have like a fear of failure, so I was like, if I do it here and nobody's gonna I'll just go downtown. They'll never see me again. And the first half in MinC, I was like, we're doing it and I just kept going, Yeah, that really really dope spirit. You know, thank you, just I told you now you
did a great job. Thank you your episode. Like the confidence out there, I mean, like you said you was being anonymous, if you you know, you was gonna had a spirit of failure, but it shows like the opposite of that confidence, you know, resonates on stage. Thank you everything. You're just you're just pretty yourself yourself. You're unapologically unpol you. Yeah. I lov being on stage. It's fun and you're like, yeah,
it's just have helen and stand up. There's like a lot of like, uh, mentally unwell people don't have a lot of fun. So like coming to wilding out where everyone pretty much has fun and they laugh at jokes that don't do well. It's like way more freeing than men who are looking yeah yeah dude, yeah I don't have a bed like in Atlanta, and yeah, your joke was your dead so speaking? Okay, so it was just before you came on. He was talking about dates. Okay, did you do you have a worse or you've been
through I've been through the ring? Really, what was the worst. When I first moved to New York City, I was like, oh my god, I was like blacking out and I was like going on tender dates, just talking about that bumble horrible little tinder bumble fishing, blah blah blah. You want to come in there, like what's up? I'm feeling like we have a vibe. Gave me a five star review. Uh yeah, I went on. You know what I did When I first moved to New York, I had really
love selfice team. I used to not that, not that it has to do with it, but when I graduated college, I was like two ten pounds. So just like a lot of a lot of issues going on there, you know, more internal than external. And so when I moved to New York, I was still dealing with a lot of that. So I would go on dates panic because I think I cat fished him, and then I would blackout. Girl, tell it this is good because it might be somebody out there going through that used to be so insecure?
How did you get out of those you know, spaces of insecurity, Like, how did you get to this point because you confidence that you actually showed me a picture of you know before and then now yeah, and how you two questions you don't think I'm trying to get to know you and this she's looking for some some advice that wasn't So how did you go to that journey? And how did you get to the point of having this self esteem which you're very confident now, thank you.
That's crazy. I feel like it is some confidence in some of a facade. Really know, You're like, well, if I look like I'm having fun, they won't know I'm the next move. You would never see that outside making moment. Yeah, yeah, I mean I think we all do that. Were literally like in my head, yea, literally all that I think we all go through. But you again, you know, of course, just coming from being in the place of like feeling like I'm a fail, You're I don't want to fail,
and you know, having those insecurity issues. It doesn't look like that on stage. So that's the awesome thing about it. We would never know you had to talk about you to talk about it. It's good to talk about it. Yeah. I think there's so many women that go through that, so many when I'm like, oh my god, am I being weird? Like every dude I know, it's like I'm cool, right, like yeah, yeah, yeah, we're in a Starbucks. But okay. This one was asking about your fit, like how did
your fitness journey? How how did that go? It was pretty much just like I moved to New York, started doing a lot of walk in and I really think starting comedy, I was like, oh, I got a little bit of a purpose. I was floating for a while and I was like I worked in a nonprofit and I was like, I feel like this is what I'm supposed to do on paper feels very good with a capital G, but I don't feel like it's like my call.
And once I started comedy and I was like making people smile and like kind of like working with a lot of comedians who had like the similar mentality of me, I was like, oh, this is a fit and I had never found a fit and I don't want to be like that person who's like she's just like what I do, you know? But very like once I started that, I was like, Oh I got a new focus. I don't have to eat snacks at night. Wow, blah blah blah. And then like a year later, I was like, oh, shoot,
I'm less weight and I'm pretty happy. Good for you. You know when you start like trying to like not cry, literally, like a little tear just went literally the word fit like just stuck out because like just definitely trying to be accepted, you know, not knowing your place or just wrying to figure it out. Essentially New York, you could float around by the stuff. They would never notice you, wouldn't you come out? Good for you? So let's get into it. We're talking about comedy. I'm Maddie. Who was
your favorite comedian? Oh that's a good question. Um, only the girls here. Let me think about that. You know, it's weird as when I started stand up, I actually didn't watch a lot of comedy. I just always knew I was like the funny one in the groom. Right when I started, I thought that everyone just did stand up, And then I found out like improv versus stand up versus just acting writing TV shows so many aspects. So I didn't know a lot. But lately even watching more
of who do I even watch? She's like, I don't know, there's a lot of dudes in it. Actually, Godfrey is really When when Godfrey came today, I was like, what the fuck he's like because I'm in Next York City scene and he's like famous in my realm. I told my boyfriend he's like WHOA. I was like, you're dating me, bitch, how dare you? Yeah? So I like Godfrey? And then I to whom Oh my boyfriend, Oh no, one is I know. I'm like, I was out of here from New York. We had our conversation and I had a
deep talk after an interesting web series. Yes in New York. Yeah, it was right before Corona hit together. Me and V my boyfriend, we've been together almost three years. Yeah. Yeah, So I met him on the tail end of my kind of like glow up. I was like, I wasn't looking for anyone, and then I was drunk at a party and this hotty was there and I said, you're
gonna ring you. It might not be tonight, but then I have so Yeah, so I made this, pulled it all together like overnight, Lily, It did feel like overnight, like overnight at the time, it felt very growing and like it took a long time. But looking back, isn't it crazy when you look back and you're like, damn, we did it. Not that I'm like wow, but like kicking it got your inbox is filling up the request. Okay. Cool, because when you first start something, you're like, damn, I
got a long way to go. Stuff like that. And what you did was you trust your process. You didn't like really like Okay, I'm gonna do this because everybody was doing. You really went through the process walking and you know, um and working on your comedy, just everything, working on yourself internally. So you went through your process and then when you start working on your process, that's when God onlines everything I'm saying. So that's that's the
thing about everything. Yeah, you have to like push for yourself. Yeah, somebody, if you had the power to change anything in comedy, what would that be if I had had anything coming? Question? My god, it's like sixty minutes, Um, you want the full full Maddie anything in comedy, anything, there's a stereotype where there is oh my god, the women thing is rough though, just like the when I do like gigs in kind of like Middle America. New York City is cool,
they get it. Any city, Atlanta, oh yeah, we love you. You go to like Middle America or like a casino and bum fuck. You get on stage and they're like this not gonna say. And then the guy goes on after you with could have the same exact jokes and the like. He reminds me of my son. So there's a lot of that still sexism that you're like pushing through and through when it comes to certain crowds. So I think that's what makes me the most annoyed. It
was to see your stand up. Yeah, you should come out. I should come to you should make it happen. When when's your next day? Probably actually right after we shoot this, I'm going to l A to do a bunch of shows and all of July and yeah, yeah, So I'm going to ask you a little question. Do you know any Karen's We're gonna talk about Karen, Say, do you know any what do you think about Karen's? Like, tell
me a little bit about that. Yeah, Oh my god, I'm gonna say my mom, but she's probably gonna watch this. So next to that, you know, when people are watching everything and I will mention you, I won't put you on blast. Could you give me Christmas presents? But do I know? Do I know any Karen's ever encountered one?
Like whether you knew them personally or not right right, or had like a careen moment or hurt you know you wouldn't have had one, but obviously not, although I heard something around totally, I can feel myself, you know, when you're like cranky and you're at target it and something doesn't work out? Can I speak to the I'm not going to ask that about the manager, but um, do I know any Karen's. I feel like everyone is a Karen Black. Your name ain't going He's like, is
that Akisha or an Akisha's. I feel like there's always Karen. Like I saw a comedy club. I saw some Karen's get kicked out of a show and it was a crazy moment. The bouncer he's my friend, he's the manager to His name is Red, And there was a moment where they were talking throughout the entire show. And you know how when people get really offended when you would say, hey, you gotta shut then up kind of a conversation. I'm enjoining the comedian No I've had I've seen people like
lose their minds. So this family talk and talk and talking throughout the whole show. All the audience members played like fifty dollars plus a two ding minimum to be in this crowd. So they're like, dude, you gotta leave. And they made it a race issue because they were a white family and the guy the bouncer was black. Yeah, and they were like, you're only picking us because of
how we look. Okay, okay, definitely definitely Karen and she and then they got kicked out and there was a moment where she was like, this is why we don't like you. You don't like us, And I was like, oh my god, she's taking one person, taking her out for for a commentary on all of race relations in America. I know, why would you come to New York City if that's the way you think? For sure? New York is so diverse. Yeah, yeah, you could be anybody in
New York anybody, anybody. You can be Stoman walking down down the street. Yeah, lose clues, any lose clues, Steve Singer mic and yeah bringing on Yeah, Vic right on the side, so really quick before he goes to a break. What would you call a male version of a Karen. A male version of a Karen is just probably that like loud, boisterous guy who's like, I'm like, I don't know, I'm just like socially uh, socially liberal, but like fiscally conservative,
you know what I mean. It's like I understand, like I don't understand, like why would need to give people money and like why we help out other communities like I didn't. Oh, you know, like when Biden's like, let's forgive fifty and people are like, well, would they forgive fifty of my debt? Then I already paid all the mine off. Do I get a reward for people who are like me? Yeah? Those kind of people like systemic,
you know what I mean. I'd say that's a male, a male who's like blah blah bla to chatty come off to his little podcast and then goes and says exactly what that podcast person said. Not this one though, And if you keep up, you keep it real life perspective, really real roll cutting up Maddie like seriously, like we love your energy, We love you guys, cast maid. Yes, as a friend today, I'm sickening. I don't even know at night and I'm like, I'm gonna press Annie and Niles.
I know you're sitting back there. He doesn't know the psychological damage producers producers not season one. When you watch people get sent home, you're like, oh, man, yeah, well now what season is this for you? My third season? Yeah? I feel like I'm like, you're here, you know you got like Justina's opening up to me. I'm like, okay, tell me more about your home. No, look, let's tell
y'all about Maddie. You don't play because she took my seat today and lunch and my stuff was right there, and I said, you're just a She said, I want to sit next to my brother. It was Jacob Fanny fag. I was like, whatever, I grab it and I took my ask to the other table with the super super super yeah, super dope. So thank you so much for today. Any other questions you wanted to ask her? Anybody want to know anything else about mad Maddie? I mean, I
just I mean, you're just funny. You guys are funny, and this is just the most intimate moment I've ever had with you, and literally literally but what's crazy today? I didn't we you know, we do this every night, and Um, I didn't correlate the fact that you were going to be on the show tonight, and I just started talking to you. You know, I'm like, I'm gonna know more about Maddie. Yeah, and this is so beautiful.
You don't know what people go through, You don't know their story, you don't sit down and have a conversation with somebody. There's so much you told us in this little twenty minutes that I never know. And I told beautiful and the shows a home on the side of you. And here just being emotional because I promise you that look right over the rainbow relatable about that. You know, women out there can relate to, people can relate to. So thank you for sharing your time. We love you.
So before we go, we always do a quote. Na always sends out devotions to everybody. Um in the morning. Um. You know she's very spiritual, her mom has a past or my dad's best case. And the devotion today was actually, um, laugh on purpose, find something to laugh about. If your your friends have conversations you remember in the back yea head, laugh about it. So it's about that today, laugh on purpose. Okay, laugh on purpose. I have two quotes. Okay, give it
to um number one. Okay, they're a little bit too real. No, they're not talking about it on me. I like to be. I was nervous. He was like, what then, is your problems about this? Yeah? You see I'm over here and that's Scott just kicking it. Okay. This one says, no one is you and that is your power. Beautiful. Yeah, beat doom, that's it. Boom. Okay, I got one more. Okay, Okay. This one says, uh, actually, let's not do that one. Okay.
This one's who am I based on this quote? Okay, So this one's I think this is a blanket, and I think this is unrelated to but ultimately it's about the turtle and the hairship. Okay, I'm a slow walker, but I never walked back. Okay. We're always moving forward. Other people might be chasing things before you, but you're like, it's okay, that's one of my work. If it's if it's a foot, if it's you know, it's not a race.
It's a marathon time. And as long as you're moving forward and you're hustling at your own paceless She is Maddie. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. Madd Ie. Your time a little break and we will be right back after this. M H, welcome back to the Women About Now podcast. Maddie just left at Maddie Smith and that's my boyfriend L I was like, Smith, what made
you get emotional? Girl? Just looking at her, just looking at her and just like hearing her story, just coming from an insecure place into like seeing her on stage now and just being so confident for her art, Like that's just amazing to me. And just she's just so cute. And you know when someone looks at you as like, yo, you're doing your thing, keep going. That's like being on your ship too, you know, because people are watching you.
So that's how I got emotion, like dad and we're about to be ill or even the way when I was looking at her, and you know how talking to her today, even on such a show that is primarily urban, you know what I'm saying, she's up there with most black people. You know, it's her, Jacob. We have a few, you know, other Caucasian people on the show, but for her to solely even Jacob come on the show, they are one hundred percent themselves. They're not coming trying to
be DC. I've been trying to hang with it. This is who I am. This is me a hundred percent. And I just think that's such a She's so quirky and cute and talented and beautiful and funny, and I love her laugh and so pre But she laughed about something and make you laugh, you know, so well, just tell her internal is right too. She just and like I said, I love when someone has a story like I just love to listen to here because it's the
process like we all go through it. And like for her to just read her two quotes and just like she's hustling at her own face. Still she gonna like Satturday like live all them shows, Adam saying that I can see her all that. She's definitely a star in her own right. Definitely I can see this today. It was a great, great show. Yeah the episode. What I'm thinking about them show three episodes? Are you so? Brie? I felt good? Was you out there today? I was
were you being well? I was an audience today? Okay, yes, I was in the truck. That truck. You got to keep the energy, And honestly, I think you're way more on camera there than it is right there. Right to keep the energy out the crowd. Yea, yeah, I mean it's fun all three. He was out there all three. Yeah, So I got us doing one day audience for all three and then the next day while in out girls balance it out. How are you with the girls? Got it? Yeah?
I got get used to that too. Yeah, Yeah, we're good. I think it's just been they've always changed. We always had new girls. It was really hard to be like bond or keep anyone because there'd be the big girls. They'd be So I would say, there's probably only a few of us that are really still here, Like, um, it would be like Alexis and Desica charm and a view of those girls. Um, but now I feel like
we all kind of have a vibe. But it's the same thing like y'all are saying you pick your people, and you kind of like, yeah, but I think, um, probably me and one other girl have been here the longest. Um, have you built any bonds with any of them? Like y'all got pretty close or it's just more like yeah, it's like, you know, I had a couple of girls and then they leave, you know, or like Amber for instance, which I'm so happy for Amber to be with y'all, but that was one of my main friends. I love
my girls, like what am I going to do? What am I gonna do now? So I mean it's good. But I also learned a lot from Amber with like the girls and how to really like, you know, I was always kind of shy. I would be quiet, and I was sit and wait and kind of feel everybody out and watch. And Amber such a big, beautiful personality and she's like, girl, be you don't be quiet, and so I like changed a lot being around Amber, which I love. So I feel like now she's like set
me off on my own. That's she's killing killing. I'm so happy for she's been dying to do that. Yeah yeah, but you already know what time it is? Time for quote at a night out? It out the outro he did the introvert um mind, don't get the all. I don't want to cry. Would you even to say that you're beautiful? And you know it was that your beautiful? And yet I admire your artistry. I am your art your hustle, I'm my your It's six to me because my nove was tingling now, but I do love be
I've seen the growth. Remember I DM DM was just like just be like friends, friends as friends, and we went on I Love Data yard house. I'm so mad because you didn't want me to go home with you. Yeah, I'm so mad, but I went through house the next day. I mean you know what we did. Yeah, she did my first little Soul in Atlanta, all black. It was so cute. And then my favorite videos what that video I had when she had her black little streaks. It was so cute. I kept replaying. I'm like, this girl
is so funny. Best friend? Now, what is the quote? Is? I wrote it down? Um? But is this you know? No one else is supposed to know your calling. It wasn't a conference call. It wasn't no one in this room it's supposed to understand you. It's supposed to get you. No one is supposed to understand your calling because it wasn't a conference call. What God has for you is for you. Whatever your heart desires, God gonna give it to you. And remember a delay, it's never a denial.
And dream Big TV, y'all. That's Women a Widening Out podcast and we're out. We will see you next time. Yeah, tell a friend to tell a France to tell a friend and go stream that thing we have it. Go stream that you do have music swip up. We love y'all. Thank y'all for watching and tuning in.
