Episode 110: VS The Peanuts Movie
We challenged a movie that our listeners told us would make us feel better after the disappointment of Scoob!, and turns out they were right!
Chris Sims and Matt Wilson love movies. The kinds you would pick up on VHS on a Friday afternoon and have to watch that weekend, no matter how terrible it was. They also love to hate them. Movie Fighters is a celebration of that. Each episode, they watch a movie, recap it, and try to make sense of it. They often don't.

We challenged a movie that our listeners told us would make us feel better after the disappointment of Scoob!, and turns out they were right!
We got some comfort food for this month's Snack Situation, but we also tried a very bad Bojangles-exclusive soda, so it's not all pozi.
Scoob! is a Scooby-Doo movie that's secretly a Dick Dastardly movie with weird moving-doll animation and no mysteries. We had a lot to say about it.
Kellogg's released some new Pop-Tart flavors that seem to be adult dessert Pop-Tarts, and we had to try them. Salty and sweet, but are they a treat?
On this month's show, we take on this movie about a child...villain? Maybe? that got put directly on Disney+ and is somehow directed by Kenneth Branagh.
This month, we're trying some Ben & Jerry's treats, because Ben & Jerry's has no tolerance for white supremacy, and neither do we. It's a weird time to be doing a snacks podcast.
A review copy led us to this Oscar contender and second-highest grossing movie of 2020, starring a fast blue hedgehog! Does it live up to those lofty accolades?
It's almost summer, which means it's time for ice cream! So on this month's show, Matt's trying a novelty item that brings back memories and Chris is taste-testing an ice cream that mimics another dessert!
Is this a movie? Well, kinda. What even is a movie anymore? Yes, it was originally released as a web series, but Valiant posted it as a full feature on YouTube last month, so we think it counts! And it's enjoyable, in its way. Note: The movie with the Alien from the movie Alien is actually Batman: Dead End, not Batman: Dark Justice. We got them confused. Sorry for the mistake!
We tried some snacks you can make at home with stuff from your pantry this month, based on instructional videos by Alton Brown and Brian David Gilbert!
As promised, this month we took on director Neil Marshall's 2008 movie about a team of Space Marine types going into a walled-off Scotland to fight Mad Max people. It's exactly as bananas as it sounds. Also, a quick content warning: There is some stuff in the first 10 minutes or so of this movie about a pandemic virus. It's wildly unrealistic and pretty different from what's going on now, but just wanted to mention it if it might trigger anxiety.
We wanted to feel better about things, so we ate some Doritos. They were good. But, of course, some were better than others.
We avoided it as long as we could, but we couldn't get around watching the 2019 Hellboy reboot. It's...frustrating.
A listener sent us a second set of candy bars and cookies from South America, so we're trying them all this month!
Our snack situation has become a chef situation this month! Chris and Matt both made the Salted Butter and Chocolate Chunk Shortbread recipe from Bon Appetit's website, and tried the fruits (or cookies) of our labor on the show!
We took on the first of the Miz-starring Marine films after a mysterious, anonymous listener sent us Blu-ray copies. We think maybe we made this person mad.
Still on our search for a modern holiday classic, we tried out this animated Netflix original! How did it fare? We have to talk ourselves through it to decide.
We're trying some festive holiday treats this month, and inventing some brand new Christmas traditions in the process.
For our first episode of the 2019 holiday season, we're tackling this Disney+ original starring Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader!
Greetings! Chris and Matt didst attend the 2019 Carolina Renaissance Festival, making an arduous journey through turkey legs, steaks on stakes, fyssche and chips, bread bowls and much more!
It's our 100th episode and spooky season, so we watched one of our white whales: 2017's Happy Death Day. And we were in for some surprises! After that, we showed up with lists (of course) of our favorite and least-favorite movies in our 100 episodes so far.
We got them, and after we tried them we tried our hardest to answer the biggest question: Why does this exist?
When we discovered Hellboy (2019) wasn’t streaming like we thought it was, we pivoted to this mostly forgotten 2011 Nicolas Cage fantasy adventure flick. We found out why it’s mostly forgotten.
Chris, Matt and Aidan went to the North Carolina Apple Festival in Hendersonville, NC, this past weekend, and we ate some apple stuff!
We tried the Reese's Lovers Krispy Kreme donuts, as well as their Oreo variation and, of course, the classic: that Hot Original Glazed.
We watched 2019's Shazam! this month, and our reaction to it may surprise you! It kinda surprised us, at least.
We went back to McDonald's for this week's episode because we did not learn our lesson. Specifically, we tried two of the new "Worldwide Favorites": Cheesy Bacon Fries and the Stroopwafel McFlurry. Also, I looked it up and I know stroopwafels originally came from the Netherlands. You don't have to @ me.
Based on listener requests, we dug up this 2018 animated Batman film, and it sure is a wild ride.
We went to Heroes Con in Charlotte and while we were there, we had a big post-workout meal at Shake Shack. How do its burgers stand up against the rest?
For this month's episode, we're answering an eternal question: What if city was tank? But also, what if man was robot? What if prison was spider? What if TWO evil dads? What if all the Star Wars in one movie? That's right, it's the diner menu of films, 2018's Mortal Engines.
