More Bits

Ron “AAlgar” Wattwww.more-bits.com
Ron “AAlgar” Watt is the co-host of two comedy podcasts: Sarcastic Voyage (a comedy variety show) and the Post Atomic Horror (a humorous, episode-by-episode look at Star Trek). Occasionally, AAl records things that don't fit the formats of these shows. More Bits is a catch-all for these things: serious discussions, in-depth analysis of pop culture and other not-easily-categorized audio flotsam. There's no format and no release schedule. Just more bits.

06 - On Depression, with Ed Casey

Depression in general, and my depression in specific, is not something I usually like to talk about openly. My friend Ed, on the other hand, finds that it’s easier to cope with his down periods through open, honest discussion. So, we’re trying it his way. This is not, in any way, a stunt for attention. For either of us. This is us, saying “we’ve been through some shit, maybe you have too. And if you have, you’re not alone.” Sometimes — especially this time of year — you need to hear that. And th...

05 - On Comedy, with Gav Brown

In early 2012, my good friend “Irish” Gav Brown and I had this discussion about comedy — specifically about the similarities and differences between American and British comedy. This was recorded just as I’d decided to move Sarcastic Voyage in a different direction, but I think we had an interesting talk, so I present that here for you now.

04 - On Inspiration, with Terry Drosdak

Terry Drosdak (or, as I know her, T-Dro) is an independent crafter who has enjoyed reasonable success on Etsy. After I’d posted my earlier shows on productivity, she asked me about inspiration (ie, “where do you get your ideas?”) So we talked about that. This is us, talking about that. Originally presented as Sarcastic Voyage episode 126b.

03 - On Productivity, with Irene

Irene is a person whose work ethic I respect tremendously. Not only is she finishing up her Masters thesis, but she’s also maintained steady employment, finished National Novel Writing Month and produced some pretty decent short fiction. We’re different in a lot of ways, but one thing unites us: our drive to get things done. Originally presented as Sarcastic Voyage episode 124b.

02 - On Not Being an A--hole, with Ed Casey

Ed Casey and I have a lot in common, as far as messed-up brains go. We’re also fairly on the same page in this discussion, which essentially centers around the daily struggle to be a decent person in a world filled with negativity. Originally presented as Sarcastic Voyage episode 123b.
