Episode 80: Jyuratodus
Big fish must die

Big fish must die
He's big. He's green. He's a lizard. He's a frog. He's a bully. He's a flower. He's a bitch. He's a lover. He's a child. He's a mother. He's a sinner. He's a saint. He does not feel ashamed. He's Pukei Pukei!
He block. He knock. But most importantly, he love rock. This week, the lads discuss the adorable chicken Kulu Ya Ku. And because Luke is still travelling Japan, nobody was on hand to bring up real life prehistoric analogues like the terror bird. Shocking.
After a two week break, Monster Mash is back! It's time for season three, and this is the one you've all been waiting for: we're covering the monsters from Monster Hunter World! Some slight changes going forwards. You'll be hearing less of Luke (though he's still producing and editing, and writing this in the third person) but instead you'll hear from Alex Musselwhite, who'd pretty chill. We're going to be bringing you episodes bi-weekly, but on the off weeks we'll be uploading our full pre-reco...
This week, we've got some outtakes for you. We all talk a lot of rubbish, Andy disconnects, and Luke is unexpectedly interrupted by both his sister and his mother on different occasions. The show is taking a brief break but we'll be back better than ever to get stuck into the content we know you really crave: Monster Hunter World Monsters!
It's the final monster of Monster Hunter XX! The Atlal Ka, or Atoraru Ka, hasn't ever appeared in an English game and none of us speak good Japanese, so expect some nonsense. Luke's audio was a little better in the cast this week, but unusable in the hunt. Easy come, easy go. Next week, we'll have some outtakes for you. After that, the show is taking a brief break but we'll be back better than ever to get stuck into the content we know you really crave: Monster Hunter World Monsters!
It's the last day of Elder Dragon Month and the penultimate monster before we move onto the Monster Hunter World beasties! It's a bit of a long one this week again, but we are discussing and hunting three big elder dragons. Also, Luke's audio is a little out of sync and choppier than usual as he's recording from Japan on his travel writing laptop. I've done what I can to fix it, but apologies if it isn't quite up to the usual extraordinary standards of Monster Mash.
Elder Dragon Month continues! A three-man cast this week, bringing you our longest, and possibly stupidest, episode to date. Andy and Jas have fought Gogmazios before, but Jay and Luke haven't. Luke's too busy being in Japan like a big weeaboo, but Jay's here and ready to draw a picture of Gogmazios based on Andy and Jas' descriptions. Look at the album art to see how that turned out . . . The lads are raring to get hunting in Monster Hunter World, but we've kindly decided to take some time to chat about our early impressions of the game. We've roped in Muss (who you may have heard drunkenly chatting about monsters back on our previous project Guesstus Flask) to give a new player's perspective. This one's edited by Jay as Luke is otherwise indisposed travelling to a new world himself (read: Japan) so if it doesn't sound up to scratch, please tweet any complaints to @buskalilly. En...

We know there's been some long ones lately, about some big serious wyverns, but here's a nice sensible length episode about a monster who isn't very sensible at all. Expert farts, burbs and silliness as we discuss a big stupid monkey.
Its the first Monster Mash of 2018 and its a bit of a long one as we cover two monsters: little baby Basarios and big bad Gravios. Some of us completed Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, so we may be a little tired of these monsters . . .
Merry Christmas! Because you've been good this year, we're releasing our Giadrome episode a week early. He's a snow monster, it counts as a Christmas special. Also, it features a spectacularly drunk Andrew Rice who has just returned from a Christmas party. If you like sensible monster chat, but dislike "the bantz", maybe give this one a miss. See you next year for better episodes about better monsters.
Bloody hell, its only a proper episode of Monster Mash! We talk about the brute wyvern Barroth in our continuing mission to cover all the monsters in Monster Hunter XX, and spend an inordinately long time arguing about the weird Barroth none of us have even encountered yet in Monster Hunter Stories.
A slightly different episode this week, as the three PS4-owning members of the crew chat some sugar about the almighty Monster Hunter World and their experience of that game's beta. Don't worry, Luke will be back next week to discuss imaginary dinosaurs and dragons in excruciating detail.
And so it begins: we kick off our coverage of the Monster Hunter XX monsters with the Barioth. Its a mercifully shorter episode than the last couple. Just a sensible amount of chat about a cool Sabre-toothed wyvern.
Another big, long elder dragon this week which means another long episode. Let me tell you, there are some strong opinions in the house about this big snake!
This week we're hunting the big boy who bookends Monster Hunter 4, the Darren Mohran. There's a lot of chat about this fella, so strap in. There's also an awful lot of post-cast hunt chat, so if you're not a fan of "the bantz" get your thumb ready to skip to the end.
The design, hunt and ecology of the Jaggi, Jaggia and Great Jaggi.
No new monster chat this week, but if you like hearing us talk absolute shit, you're in for a treat! We might be taking a week or two off but then we'll be back to work our way through the monsters of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Monster Hunter Double Cross. See ya!
The designs, hunts and ecologies of various small monsters.
Something slightly different this week: a collection of the smaller monsters which appear in Monster Hunter Double Cross. Luke thinks he's funny, Jay plays along, Andy shows a surprisingly tender side and Jas reveals himself to be a LEGIT PSYCHOPATH.
Here we go then, the final large monster in Monster Hunter Generations. As always Andy is sleepy, Jas is interrupting, Jay barely recognises the monster and Luke is struggling valiantly to keep everything on track. Next week we have a special on small monsters and after that will be an outtakes collection. Soon after we're kicking off a new season of the podcast with all the monsters from Monster Hunter 4U and Monster Hunter XX that we haven't covered yet!
Ohayōgozaimasu! Wakamono wa Amatsugamatsuchi o karu. Tanoshinde!
This week, we’re hunting the white god Ukanlos! Or as Andy prefers to call him, Shovel Knight. Andy isn’t with us this week, Luke’s much too sleepy and Jay is struggling to keep the podcast on track. Then at the end, listen to some highlights from the hunt where Ukanlos gives us a proper kicking.
We were recording after 9 in the evening again this week so although you're getting some quality chat about an interesting monster, the hunt highlights include lots of talk about whether Jay does or does not like licking ladies' bits. Sorry not sorry.
This week, we're hunting the Teostra. Now in HD! Other than that . . . look, we recorded this a week ago and I'm pretty tired right now so I know about as much as you about what we did or didn't say!
