Righto money miners Tucker and Dharma back for Part 2. I didn't get. I thought I was gonna get lynched by the audience for this one, but. Everyone loved it. Great feedback. Ohh, flying go target mate. So Part 2, we're going on with things that have changed in the industry, mostly for the better, like small women working underground, new technology, new standards, all improving safety and stuff over the time that they've been mining to now what's changed?
They go through it, but how important management is right? And what we they define as management, not just the poor bloody MDC are getting all hammered by everyone. It's the liars that go all the way down through the operation that they talk about for this good culture.
So mate, it's like considering, considering after this and probably from previous podcasts, our Tucker has become probably one of the biggest personalities in underground mining, quite parallel to the biggest Get Wet bladder that has been just released to to the world. Two and a half million litres, lads, Get wet, Maddie Hall is back. Get Wet has gotten even bigger and even wetter. We love these guys. I love them, love them. He's bigger than an Olympic size swimming pool.
There's massive. I know it's like a bloody 70 metre pool now, like it's friggin huge, right? Maddie said he'd only come back once the two and a half million litre was ready. It is ready. You can have it installed and pumping in one shift. 400 to 600 litres per second in. We're out. That's a friggin cat triple. 770 thousand litres filled up in 3 1/2 minutes, normally 45 minutes.
Boys, boys, boys. Dust suppression, Turkey's nest replacements, friggin camp water, civil works, Maddie's Halls. Numbers in the show notes. What more do I need to cite? They'll do the install. As well. Oh. That's right JD mate. Now we've now we've gotten wet again. Let's go get Tucker and Diamond. Let's do it so I convert that right? Like I said, fucking KV we we could workplace rock up there. You're like, fuck, we're on. This is this is great, great
work environment. The opposite of that, right? Like you, you, you, you sent, you sent to it when we first met, you know, like you sent somewhere you like. And you realise day one this is going to be really fucking. Hard. Horrific. What does it look like? There's two, there's two variations of horrific. There's horrific because the ground shit, the infrastructure shit, you got no vent as hot as Satan's asshole. Like for ground? Ground shit means it's so it's it's gonna be.
Seismic the ground. None, none. Not hard, this is. Not an issue the. Shit ground is for us is purely like lots of structure, lots of lights, so rocks fall off and fuck you up. Basically it's all about getting hurt. So shit ground is like and. You can't drill through. It. Yeah, yeah. So. Shit back everything off in order to make it happen. Yeah, so shit.
That's what I mean by shit ground and it or it's seismic, because the ground could be fucking Hollywood, you know, but if you get a four or five magnitude seismic event, fucking it doesn't matter how good it is. Like still big bundies are going to come. Like, you know, shit's going to happen, you know, so that that that's my definition of shit ground. And like, fuck, when it's hot, I can I don't care who you are, man. Like you've already got so much
temper. Like I got a split personality, much like Dharma. Like I am the most, I am the most quite chill guy. I have beer, spin yards. I've got a million good comeback sayings to everything but fuck boy if I'm hot man give. Me give me about 30 seconds, I don't know. Man, but I love learn over what's. The breaking temperature like. It's a time until. Time until I feel hot. Yeah, but, and it's also like it's in your head.
If you have a time at home and you're like, shit's going on you, you probably, your temper's fucking short. So then you get hot and you bend a bolt or fucking, you blow a hose or whatever, Then you like, you're there, like you're angry because. But the heat exacerbates it infinitely. Yeah, like everything, you know, you feel worn out. It's exhausting, like being in a fucking. Well, it's 11 hours straight. In a sauna, essentially, you know what I mean?
It's like people just, I don't think they realised. But it can happen in the 1st 10 minutes of the day. Yeah, I can roll down to the jumbo, start it up, drill a hole, do a Shank, go out to change it. And it's that fucking hot that I'm furious straight away. Yeah, look, it's the worst, man. It brings it out to you because it just puts your fucking blood pressure to here off the calf. And I'll go from zero to 100, man. For something as simple as changing a Shank.
Yeah, you know what I mean? It's nothing. I'll change that because like, my nippers know, man. Because I'm like fucking, I'm like, as soon as it starts spiralling, I'll be like, it's fucking spiralling. Shut the door. So the fucking air con. Because like, you know, the air con's not good for fuck all really with the door open. But you feel like a shit, you bloody all sorts out there busting his whole way. So like, you know, so like you got the you got the door open.
Once it starts spoiling, I could feel, I feel like feel the blood pressure, feel my anger coming. You can't punch the computer screen 'cause they fuck you used to be able to punch the heaps other shit. It's all good and you can't do that. You gotta pay down. Everything's fucking delicate, chair, you gotta turn. Around and punch your chair. Everything is. Awkward. Everything's intelligent. Yeah, you can't get. A good swing on it.
Yeah, it's fucking shit. You still, like smash your heart out on the dash and fucking yeah but like, but now it's like, I just know it's coming, man. I know it's coming to like shut the door. Like you still get it like it's just, it's there. Like, but when you you got the heat is there faster and it's there longer. Like it's, it's one of those things, those conditions are fucking like the big difference, you know? Oh, and even get Oregon, the worst was getting to work.
I remember when we at fucking Invicta for instance. Like shallow mind fucking. You'd be at your jambo at 6:15. Yeah. And you just like you're on, you're starting because you got like everyone's getting paid on contract. Something to do go to like a, you know, Telfer or a fucking Golden Grove. Or something. Like deep spread out, you've got one Ute dropping 3 jumbo operators off in three different parts of the mine, get to your jumbo 8830 and then frigging
it's broken down. You don't get gained or 9:30 and you're just, you're peaking before you've even started. Yeah. And then so when they talk about deep mines and all this, like mines are just every mine, Mines aren't mine. Like some mines are so different. Exactly, man. Yeah, just getting the fucking work is a struggle. Sometimes environments a big thing for quality of a mind, but like environment could be irrelevant if you were with
heaps of JCS. Yeah. You know that has taken off all because of you Tucker. We we sold we did hats 100 hats with GC1TO GCA 100 and someone bought GC one for 1100 bucks. Holy shit G the word GC is taken off. If you sign up to our email, everyone gets AGC number sequentially in the order they sign up. We're up to like GC 14,000 today. I'll bring it in. I'll better get on to that. I'll better get it rolled. I want GC0. I want a reprint. I want fucking. I want the.
OGGC nice girl actually got it. Hold on, what about the? But the biggest thing like sorry, so like environmental, but the, I reckon the biggest thing that makes or breaks a job is management is management like. Which levels? All all the way to the top. Shift all the way to the top and fucking yeah if you've if then It's not even that being approachable. It's like, man, if you roll into work and you got a boss stand up there telling you you're all fucking essays like.
Not a good way to start your. Day, you know you like cool, got 12 hours of fucking misery in a shit hole. Like you know you're already sad as fuck because you're at work. Like you know, it's like it just compounds like management can make or break a job. What some of the best jobs I've worked. And like we're talking like all the infrastructures there, good flights, good food, camps, wicked rah rah. But their management are just
awful. Like they've all got egos or they've all got whatever, whatever, whatever, combination of whatever. And the morale of everyone is so shit. It's horrific. It is horrific to work and you've got 12 hours surrounded by people that are so fucking sad because the environment has made them so fucking sad. It's fucking depressing as fuck.
And I but it should be good it. Should be good, but you're like everything's fucking awesome, but everyone is so fucking sad and hating their life and you go to some jobs.
You're like, fuck, this is the biggest shit hole and water dripping from the from the backs is like pure salt lava and it's burning everything of you and like everything's hard and fucked and it's hot and you'd like, but then everyone's cheaper and fucking good and like it works and works and management support you because I know it sucks us, but like we know it sucks us. What can we do to help? Like fuck, you know what I mean? You help each other and they're
the fucking best jobs. You knock off everyone has beers, fucking laughs like fuck, that was horrific down the you know, but like it's it's good. They're the good jobs like like management us such a fucking big part of making a job good or fucking awful. And I've worked all of them, I reckon. And I and I've always found that they tend to go hand in hand. Look, the shit places are full of GCS, Yeah, always because you have to. Yeah, I I know it's amazing, but 'cause if you, if you go there
with your shit attitude. Fuck off, I'm. Always gonna it's. Already shit fucking get the fuck away. From you, Sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Look, Oh, well, you're good for fuck all. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Carry on. And but what you find is that your attitude, will. I don't know, you'll infect the people around you to an extent. You know what I mean? Look, 100% have you ever noticed that when you're angry on the jumbo, your nip is mad and he starts doing dumb shit?
Yeah, yeah, you've got to pull him up. He's just because I'm angry, don't start rushing around. I'm. I'm my own environment now you. Just do you just do everything the same as I've told you, you do it every day and we'll just be fine. But if everyone's happy, everyone helps each other, everyone's all good. Like if everyone, if someone's got shit going on at home but everyone's cheaper, everyone's like yo how, how's mum doing? All good fucking you.
Know like, you know and like and so the environment is different. Like you might be have shit going on but all the boys are like and girls are asking and fuck we don't sit and have DN Ms when the men just don't really do that anymore. But they check in on you. Anyway, but they check in and then you might have a little spear while you fucking hate doing a four inch joiner up in the basket.
You might be telling your woes or whatever, but because you can do that and you have that environment, it's all good. Whereas if you like everyone's sad as fuck and then you're sad you got shit going on at home, it's it is the most. Compounds at 8. It's it's awful man, like. Even though the job's horrific, if everyone is all good and everyone's looking after each other, it's fucking it's just shit. Like you just get on with it.
Every shit job I ever worked at made me sad to leave, you know what I mean? Because it was but. You know you've got to go. You like the ground shit out as hot? As not even like I have a point when I start saying I'm going to snatch it, that's it. I'm not talking about it. I'm just fucking out of here. See you later. Well, that's it. That's it, man. Quick, quick. Quick, so I get so fed up with Lachlan. You hear that same old joker that flies in every day.
Oh, 13 to go or whatever and then that's. Me 7 to go on the plane but I do it cheaper 'cause I'm like. Yeah, 'cause you're happy about it. The jokers that rolling. Fuck, this place just got cooked brisket on the fucking menu. Ah, dinner was shit. Yeah, Cup, you fucking parrot. You know, look, get out of here. Yeah, well, if you're whinging about the fact you don't have to cook and clean for yourself or you're probably just fuckhead anyway, but like, you know what I mean?
I just, I hate that the guy that fucking sits there and whinges and says he's going to snatch it every day. Well, I don't believe a fucking word you say, so fuck off and do it already. Like, yeah. So if I start saying that myself, I know that's it. I just said no, no more talking. Look, see you later. Yeah, I'm done. But you. You. Become once you get to that point where you're like, fuck, this job sucks.
And and once you fight you, once you turn that negative and you find that negative, you become like you will find a million negatives, anything like, you know, I could sit here and be like fucking Maddie's head shit hats all upside and like you can just find whatever you want. And if you do that, but then you project that on everyone else. And you attract it on, I'll just fucking put a deposit on a caravan. But for the last two months we've been looking for caravans.
Now everywhere I go, I see caravans. Yeah, if I keep saying something. Shit, I'm going to find the shit things and I'm just going to discredit all the positivity that's around it. Like you've got to if you just keep saying, look, fuck, this place is horrible, but he's a good luck. Yeah, yeah, you'll just find good, you know, Look, yeah, it just happens. It's it's one of those things, I think. But fuck, that's just how it is.
Or you're probably given a good insight in terms of when say fucking The xx gold company comes out and they've misguided by 10% and they're blind management and workforce. But holy snap and duck shit, there's some shit that goes into it on a daily basis. To. Draw and get that one number that they fucking measure at the end of the fucking quarter, isn't it because.
It's the only one that matters. But also, but also that's the difference when turning a job around as well, like, oh, we didn't get our targets because everyone fucking hates their life and the bogger drivers are fucking hiding at 4:00 and telling the truck drivers to fuck off and charge. I was like, I'm not fucking charging that too hard.
You know, jumbos, like fuck, these have been busting my whole day and there's no event, no one's no me fucking, I'm parking up. If everyone, if everyone's like that, then then obviously, obviously you're going to get less as well. Whereas if everyone helps everyone, it's like Jumbo pulls out light fucking goes down and helps charge up, charge their cut.
Like you know what I mean? Like if everyone helps everyone, the morale is good and all that, then it all flows back and then all of a sudden you've got all your tonnes, you've got all your metres, everyone's cane, everyone looks after everyone like it's not that hard. They go hand in hand, they go
hand in hand. So you might have a good boss that might be really good out of aspect of his job, but if he's got fucking shit people skills or a grop against something, whatever, like and that shit flows back down into the workforce, like from a higher up, you might not see it, but you know, we see it. We fight you. It is fucking 100% effects so much man, so much. It's probably. Been like a correlation between like your experience as a jumbo operator and the share market.
Like if you ever notice, I can fuck you know you. Maybe you can read the tea leaves or they're completely. Different. I, I fucking I never, I never correlate it at all. What? Yeah, I just do my job and go home and forget that I even have a job for a week, basically. Do you know if they're on target or off target for a for a court line if you can't? We, we just get our schedule, man. We we just get our. I tell you all, we need this this amount because we're behind.
No, not where else I am now. We used to it John Day, we used to get like that, that was our monthly, quarterly or we used to get all those targets. We don't at the moment. We just get our weight. Like I just worry about our weight to reschedule. Literally our weekly schedules are we fly in, finish off the last day of the last week's schedule, and then we start our schedule and it's all about just
achieving our schedule. Like fuck you hope you've got good planners, you got good engineers, you got all those other people doing their job together. I'm not worried about all that. Like that's their job to worry about all that shit. My job is just to drill the holes and and get that schedule every week. I don't worry about monthly quarter.
I don't even look at it, don't even care because it's and it can change too, like the market changes and all of a sudden the lithium price is up and where going into all these all bodies we've gone past because they were economically feasible and all of a sudden they are so like the schedule and and planning and everything fucking changes it and women that change that. That's every mind. But you've never been working somewhere where it's like. No direct correlation at all.
Not at all. It's. Definitely somewhere where you're like, you know, you suddenly realise their taper and fucking CapEx, the doll and the spend back massively and then like you know, you can read the play, you know, care and maintenance is around. The corner. Oh, sorry, with regards to that, definitely soon as the. Diamond. Soon as the diamond drillers leave. Yeah, as soon as the diamond drillers leave, you got.
And this old guy told me this, you've got three to six months and you'd be fucking looking for a job. And I've had it twice, both in nickel. Yeah. But Yep, soon as the diamond drillers. Same. Soon as the diamond drillers fuck off because I guess the margins are so shit with nickel. That's my theory, yeah. But it's hard in a place that has minimal diamond drillers too. You know what I mean? Look where where I am now, John Day, we've got 16 rigs.
Yeah, yeah, unheard of. Look, I've never seen that many in one spot. But when like we're talking. These are under underground diamond. Drill, Yeah, yeah. So they, so basically they've obviously drilled from the surface and mapped and they, they. Stopped doing development like this because the the the they've stopped adding fucking reserves. Basically, and but all all they're. Finding. They're finding where we're going, yeah. They're on They're.
Mapping what they've said, yeah. So if they stop mapping, they've either lost it, it's not there, or yeah, the capital stopped or whatever. Insert whatever reason as soon as the diamond drill is fuck off. You got three to six months. Especially at a site where there's only got 2 rigs. Yeah, been there twice. Aye, twice. Can you talk about either of those? Oh, it was a long time ago. Yeah. Like, yeah, we're talking about
15 years plus. But like, and like, both of them were fucking right near Christmas, too. What a good time to get a job, right? Doctor Drillers leave. Maddie, you got. 33 to six months, that's my experience. Like like.
You know. If you have a diamond drilling programme and they're coming into not prove up the ore body, but just basically give GEOS a guide to design that's different between you're developing towards this ore body and the diamond rollers are there to like prove it up essentially. Then all of a sudden they fuck off and you finish raping and pillaging, you know, whatever ore drives you've got, like, and
then all of a sudden you fly. Like we literally have flown in, gone to work, been told fucking the show's over, go back to your room, pack shit, there's a plane coming tomorrow. Fucking say a ladder. On the peace, no worries. Fell. Yeah. Yeah, blonde as well as dogs straight, absolutely bad plane fucking no good. But like, but then all of a sudden you're out of work and it's like fuck Roddo ringing everyone. Like, you know, this is when I was like, I was good fuck all now too.
But like, yeah. We're fucking, we're guilty inside. So was it? Yeah, but was it Carnally Hill? Yeah, right. Minkle I think owned it. I think. I can't remember the other one as well. Long, long time ago now. But yeah, it was. And like all nighty, pretty fresh. Was fresh to the industry there, you know? And I was just like, what the fuck?
You know, I had it. I had it at Waterloo and it was fucking Lionel. Yeah, yeah, a while ago, but they were, they were fucking transparent, man, Like they were so that. Was that was that was nickel, wasn't it? Yeah. Nickel and one of the one. Of the 1st gym contracts. The first GFC, yeah, so it was massive and they were transparent as fuck. So we would have meetings and you know, you see in the news the fucking prices going down, stuff like that. And these guys would be like,
look at 12,000 and a tonne. We're still making money. If it hits 8000, start looking for another job and they don't. Told you straight, that's awesome. I fucking respected that a lot more than just being awesome. We just. Got called out and got told fuck off. Yeah, twice. Yeah, well. It was irrelevant in the end anyway 'cause I just got on the piece, fucked it all up and. Sacked. How many times you got sacked for blowing the breath out, Dharma?
Probably four or five. I think this is stoked about it. Not allowed to do it anymore. She's a good woman. She is a good. She is the fucking best woman, Bridget. Elder. I agree. Yeah, fuck, I agree. She's a good woman. I think she's pretty fucking good. She keeps me in lining. Yeah. What about, OK things in the industry that have changed over your time or run through them? What about is there more women working with the underground now? Than we are there I can heaps
more. I remember when I first started, there was one chick, she was a GO. That was it. Yeah, they're either G OS or engineers. That was it. Back in the early days, that was. Like we're talking oh fuck GBF had like 3 jumbo lols the 30 man cruisers big big job man Argo. Yeah. And like 1 Jerry for the client for Saint Olives, man, that was it. Like 1 Sheila.
Yeah, they listen. I. Listen to your party with Maddie on what he's mining on his old life of mine before you come in. And you were talking about like, like the, you know, women in workforce and you, you're like, mate, they work so much fucking smarter. Yeah, yeah, and that's why, that's why the people lie, because they lie. They they think about shit a bit more. Like when you're young, dumb and full of cum. Fuck the dumb shit we do as
blokes fucking. It's like when you oh man, it's so. But but not even like. Yeah, yeah, just. Not even like be inappropriate about it, like I like having the women on site because they think about it more. Like I tell them all anyone that works around me or near me. I said, you're not as strong in the boys, so you need to be smarter. You've got to think about what you're doing and you need to actually pay attention to how it's done. And but they take it on board better than the the young
fellas. Like the young boys, if they fuck something up, they can usually manhandle their way out of it. Booga, booga. You know, booga, everything just turned into whereas like, if you're like fucking this big, what? You would you would remember Jasmine Milia? Yeah, it's both years. We both work with jazz. Shout out jazz. Fucking shout out to Jazz. She called me Dad. She was a baldy with Grandpa.
Yeah. But watching her try to lift mesh, the bruises she would have just from fighting it because she wasn't physically strong enough. But at the same time I told her, I said you've. Got to just. You have to be smarter than this, and you've got to work better than the boys. Look, I don't give a fuck how you do it. You got to make it work for yourself. And credit to her, she did. She was a fucking little weapon by the end of it. She was fucking good.
She's one of the better nippers I've had over the years. Look, so anyone that says there isn't a place for them in the workforce is fucking shit. There's fucking all, Wood Dead said. I'll take a woman cross shift on the bogger any day. I'd take them like you'd take. Oh, they're good. Fuck, I've had some legends work with me if I can't remember now, it's been that long ago. But fuck, they've got something to prove, their attention to details. Unreal.
They're fucking good to get along with and they just. Friendliness, man. Fuck, I was going to say that's probably the only growth is they're so fucking clean. Then you're like fucking knock off. You're like fuck, gotta fucking clean all the clean my fucking shit up because you're rolling and everything is fucking, you know, because they're like pedantic and it's awesome. But like fuck cross shift you, man.
I mean used to be like I reckon I could scrape and not fucking rolly fucking like tobacco off the dashes and I don't even smoke. I reckon I can roll it up and smoke. You'd be like Bolton just fucking rolling darts every shit everywhere and like, but I didn't give a fuck. I'd just like blow it, whatever. Never been like, you know, over there. You roll and you cross shift a Sheila. And the vast majority, they're fucking good at what they do.
But that they, they, they clean up as like, you know, and so then you feel guilty. You're like fuck sake, like, because I never felt guilty with you. Who gives a fuck? He's an animal too. Like it's all good. That's like, right. I'm out there fucking cleaning the window. I'm fucking picking up shit like, you know, yeah, but it's not a bad thing. They raise your standards, don't they? Like, you know, yeah.
I was, I was on the fucking bogger band and cross shifting and Sheila and it was, was demoralising. She was way better on the bogging than me when I first got on it and it was fucking Immaculate. This thing was like perfect everyday armour all to the fuckery. Windows are clean, like everything's perfect and on here I am. Can't bog to fucking save myself. Yeah, fucked everything. Just tagged that pump.
Fuck the cable out there. Look, the most useless gun in the world and I'll come out and I still can't clean the fucking thing properly, you know what I mean? And this Sheila should come in. She's tiny. All my shit up. Fix everything. The problem is I spend all your time trying to keep up. You got no time to clean mate. I can't even get fucking. Useless. Yeah, I was too busy doing incident reports. I was.
Good for nothing. Jeez, jeez, I think if bloody Tucker and Dharma get over the jumbo, wouldn't they be a good fit for Kydrill Punch and Arse and Diamond Isles? You're on something. Can you? Can you imagine Tucker Dharma, Drew Harvey and Ron O'Sullivan in the one business? The the passion of the excitement, the ability to execute, the vast deeps knowledge, the vibes, the people that were thrilled to meet Drew Harvey at our Christmas party on Tuesday night.
They were. I've got to shake his hand. Took a bit of pressure off us having Drew over there. That's it. It was good. Like, well, they I've, I've pieced it together because Dharma, as he's just mentioned, he's got the historical ACM link, West gold board ACM. Yep, K drill are now punching in holes for West gold. That's right. There you go, mate. There you go. Perfect fit. They're firing up in the
industry. K drill backed by an absolute bunch of GCS, absolute experts in exploration drilling. It's great to be on the K drill journey. And as you said, jeez, it was good to have a pint with Druba. Sure would. Sure. Would JD? Sure. Was mate sure right. Give him a call. Go K drill. What about face mesh? This would be dear to your heart. This is something probably newer. Is it nearly mandatory now? You probably don't have it where you are, right? No, no, not so much.
I'm all for it man. Yeah I'm all for it. It's not a headings off charge fucking stop all load bays where it's 7 metres plus. Fuck it's you know, it's hard to get perspective as a normal as a person just in the city if you measured up 7 metres and looked up 7 metres of dead. Hair rolls out there. We're talking. We're talking about a jumbo face. It's like. A the end of it. Now we are now there's like mesh.
Charge up, charge UPS down there and there's no mesh there and he's charging up and I've been almost one of my biggest fucking injuries. We just thank fuck I didn't get a big slab come down while I was charging the burn low but lucky I was leaning over hit me flat on the back. Like if it had been the other way I would like fucking slice me in half like basically you know. So I'm all for face mesh, but you know a coke can from 7 metres? Fucking.
Hurts like get someone to go up to a second balcony or first balconies, get 7 metres and drop that fucker on your head. Like I can guarantee you that shit will fuck you up. Like you know what I mean? So if you can put face mesh up and eliminate that, why? Why would you not? Is it, is it considerate? Do you notice it considerably? Size. It probably doesn't get taken into account when everyone's like development metres per jumbo you add face face mesh into the cycle.
How much do you reckon that slows the whole cycle down? Fuck all if you're worth your weight on in Jumbo. Man, how long does it take you to put it up where you are fucking? 15 minutes no. Baby fuck pre draw the holes. Fucking 5 minutes. 6 minutes. As hard as things pick in the bath has, if you nip as good, he'll paint halfway. Oh, you get 55 squares down? Yeah, and you literally pick it up, bang it straight in. You've already drilled the other. How many holes? Yeah, it's 4 minutes.
Fuck all their black bolts. It's all waste. But then you know it's a four and a half metre long shade of mesh. 2 1/2 metres. 2.4 metres. If it's a 5 metre Dr, you've just eliminated half that drive hot where all the fucking shit that's gonna fuck? I'd rather a rock fallen two men has hit me than fucking five. Yeah, yeah, I'm all for it man. I'll have all for it. I'm all for drive all drives. All of them. Everything. It's a double edged sword Sometimes I find like because it
makes people lazy. If I'm gonna put that face Mitchell, I'm not gonna fucking scale it as. Much fucking always yeah, it makes absolutely right away yeah, because I I. I'll scale to be fucking hands. Yeah, I I used to fucking. I agree. I've done my cowboy day. But then like I've worked with people. What? Is scaling, sorry. That's when you're chipping the
shit. Off once we've blasted the face and they bogged it out, when you roll in and before you start installing the ground sport, you scale basically, basically knocking all the rock, all the loose blasted rock off. So we scale the face so it's all it's been blasted, it's all been fired. So it's all fractured. You can half ass Scarlett. Oh good. You might get away with it 1000 times, but it's the one time. But it's not my biggest thing is it's not me getting hurt.
I'm I'm fucked off. I'm somewhere else bending bolts. It's it's the mate that I drink beers with in there charging it that fucking loses an art, you know what I mean? Like. It was only me that I had to worry about. I wouldn't give a fuck. Yeah, because then I can deal with the consequences of your own actions. But the fact that I could hurt someone else? The old that's. What upsets me about it?
Hit a certain age, had kids matured like we spoke about that when you had your other thing, certain aspects of my life. I'm taking a picture. It's like fuck, man, like you, it's my job, my responsibility to make, you know, I don't give a fuck. I'll sit down and scout for an hour if I'm going to that's what I'm going to do.
That's what I'm going to do, man, because I want to be a backing out of there, going to my next job or coming back, drill in the face and then, you know, give me mate the thumbs up as I pull out and he goes to charge it. Now that I've done everything I can do to make that job safe, as safe as possible. I don't know, it sounds wank because that's all we ever hear. Fucking make the job fucking safe like rah rah. And that's all it's all we ever hear. But I try and do that as.
You got to scale it as much as it needs in my.
My theory was you got to scale it as if you're boring it because like there's a lot of the times that where you'd bolt it, you'd you'd scale the backs, you'd bolt the heading, then you'd scale the face, then you hand it over to the your cross shift to bore the heading and you're thinking, well, I'm not boring it. So you're not thinking scaling the fuck out of the bottom bit because you got to put your lifters in because you're you're like, I'm not the one going to
do it like mentality. Yeah, you got to Scarlett as if you were going to be, because you got to if you don't Scarlett enough. Like, you're going to go out there, right? Right at the place, yeah. All the rock builds up, you can't form the hole to put your lifter tube in and fuck me, it can take you half an hour. But it can be a nightmare, yeah. Someone tell me if you wouldn't send your kids out there to do it, it's not good enough. Yeah. Yeah, that's it.
Like that, that was, that was good for me. I'm like, fucking like, yeah, I understand the risks. We're not, it's a, it's a risky job. We work in an underground mine, but I want to do that job good enough that I would send my kids out and kick the soccer ball against it, you know what I mean? Like basically that's why I look at. It it's a four metre hole and it's pulled 3 metres so you got a metre of shit that hasn't fallen off. What's fine? But it's all broken.
It's fine. So pretty much you've got a hit it continuously and break that trader off because that penetrator until you get to the back of that. Penetrates the mess. Not so it is, really. Yeah, yeah. Penetrate it deep. Yeah, that's right. Fuck, I was just to. A potty this morning and it was a. Was it a Tucker potty? No. It was a different. One better not have been me. There'd be too many beeps in it, no?
It was like a a fundy and he was like basically saying like he he he shorts shorts the like if you if you if you meet an MD and you wouldn't be happy with your daughter marrying him fucking, you know, like. You know, but it's wrong, but it's. That's the test. You got to, you got, you got to set your own personal level and like, like the expression is young, dumb and full of cum. You got no kids, you got no commitments, you got fuck all. You just there to prove yourself to yourself.
Like you know what I mean? So you like you're invincible? I got like, I remember when I had kids, I got like that anxious underground from like especially with some fucking young dickhead driving around doing burnouts and I had kids. Tell them to fucking slow down. But I'm like, I've got someone, I've got my my life in someones hands now and they're being fuck heads and I'll just start. And that's half the reason I'll like, yeah, 'cause I had an option.
I was like, fuck, like I was just starting to get so anxious, 'cause I'm like, fuck, I've got to control, I've got to control everyone else around me as well to keep me safe to. And it's just like, fuck it, just it's, it's a big job. I can control my environment to to a certain aspect. You know what I mean? Like but that's what I I implored as I want to feel fucking good that I'm sending me mate to that job. Like I don't care. Like fucking the discussion we had earlier flat rate.
But gentlemen, if I'm for on contract man, you get 10 scale marks on the face to make it look pretty. Well, this you'll be able to answer this one good. Dama. Here the over the years here the the definition of when you go remote bogging compared to oh,
free bogging. So when we talk free bogging, that's when a person is in the loader, taking the dirt out of the stope and to the point where they have to go in the heart and operate it from the PlayStation. The rule, because the rules have changed of when what's considered the. Yeah, and. Since I was on a bogger like this wall, that's a whole of the world. Man, it was. We used to bog to the cab. You'd be like I remember looking out below. Sweet be. Like oh, sorry, sorry, the brow
where the cab. Cab literally stopped at the last row of bolts like you would if you're a no heading. Up Jesus Christ, Yeah. Man, you'd be like looking at, you'd be like, oh, yeah, fucking sweet. Like looking into the free Free Willy land. Yeah. And then it become that's when halfway through the wheel. Yeah, halfway through the front tyre. And then the last I heard was like, as soon as the brow's cracked, put it on remote. Oh, is that? What it is? Now they haven't. They haven't.
No, no, like. They have a nine metre cab mark I think is a general standard now. So basically what's that saying is that you, the person within the cab, won't be within 5 metres of the exposed brow because of the distance of the bogger? Yeah, I. Don't hold me to that because I
don't fucking bog anymore, but. I got a lot of good respect from Stopes. I can't remember where I was working, but we were hole cleaning right at the brow and like, you know, fucking aerated hose jamming up there fucking and it come flapping out in the stop and the fucking start reeled. Yep man. It would come over the Bund, bury the front tyres of the IT and we're fucking stuck in the basket and but like adjusted the
whole level outside. Me and old mate, we're just like lying in the bottom basket waiting for your imminent death. It was awful, awful experience. Yeah, but for me, when I've got on a bogger, I like had the respect of like fucking like in an instant, man. Like fucking that bitch reals like fucking so much mass is coming down at you. I had a awful experience which changed my tune and like made it made me respect that I suppose. It wasn't till.
Later controlled now like yeah, you literally can't like 'cause as you said, the as soon as the bloody brows cracked or whatever it's like 8 minute paint line that's fucking we're on the most. But isn't the remote the remotes are that much better set up now? Yes, there there's no need to. I remember being a little cuddy, tiny cuddy and I'm fucking fat, barely bigger than me and I'm like hunched over like a fuck with this harness thing on. 02 Little choice.
Line a side fucking watching the load a lot fucking bogging and then you back it out and you get out and jump into like that was my remote bogging like literally like and then Chuck the harness in this thing and then jump in the load and go and tip it like. Like times have changed out it out of trouble when you when you're fucked up. That was the only time I had to do it. So I started probably 2006. By then it was all fucking like 1/3 of a seat container.
Yeah, telly hub, we used to have a literally AP little PC fucking Land Cruiser. Yeah, yeah, the Troopy. Seat, Yeah. The Troopy had it. Yeah, that was that was like a plug in at the level and that that was telly remoting now fucking old mate sits on the surface in his fucking wanker boots. Like yeah, it was it was an operator operates 4-5 loaders at once. Like like times have changed man remote loadings and it's efficient now it's like was it auto mine auto jam? Mine bloody.
They separate four or five at once. Yeah, there's, there's so many different programmes, but then they tram back all they got to do is basically tip and bog the bucket. Like, yeah, it like times have changed man, for the better really. Because like, like, yeah, it's more productive, but you've eliminated the stupidity. The only problem it has is when the levels aren't checked properly.
So the only the only issue I have with it is that the guy operating the machine isn't checking the level. Yeah, Yeah. You know what I mean, which is? You're relying on someone else to for the. Sake of efficiency yeah, it's perfect you know you know what I mean like he shouldn't have to drive down and fucking do it but back to cutting corners you know what I mean it's when that corner's cut that's where it all goes fucking tits up because he.
Does he feel when he runs over Geo or he's operated in four? Or five machines if he's not looking at the same screen. Yeah, yeah. And doing something else. He doesn't know what the fuck that load is doing yet Yeah and that's my only gripe with it yeah you know what I mean. I feel you should have a screen for every single machine. So if you're going to drive 4 boggers, you should be able to live feed each one of them at the same time. That's that's my thoughts. Look.
A bit more situational awareness. Yeah, yeah, 100%. You're ultimately you're in charge, especially. Because the laws. But don't they all have a screen H or yourself? No, because you can cycle through screens so. OK. So you don't have all four lot? Yeah. No, it's, I think they should, you know what I mean? Because even if like, you're on a bogger, you've clearly been underground, you will still catch in your peripheral someone fucking shining a light at you
side to side. Instinct will just go fuck and you'll look for that. You know what I mean? I think so. Because the credit there, the critical control is that someone has to check the level and then set the barriers. And that's true. You have to trust. Them you're sitting on the surface drinking lattes, you got to trust. Them and. They might fucking have shit going on a home or they're fucking under the pump. They're maybe they're charged and they got fucking three cuts
to charge. Fucking yeah. Fucking sweet. Hang the barrier, Reset the barrier, Send. It whatever it is and. Then you order send in it old mates in there licking rocks or fucking. Whatever case is, yeah. Who not you don't know. Like there's too much separation there. Imagine. That's when that proximity shit will come in where they like, although I don't think, I think it's sort of there, but where they can detect exactly where everyone is from the fibre optic
and. There's the tags and stuff, yeah, like tags, but at the same time, you know what I mean? Look, imagine the carnage that ensues if it doesn't work, probably, you know what I mean? Imagine there's fucking an IT with two jokers there with a Ute all mates change screens while he's telling remote. And this Blogger just drives through a fucking Ute and an IT and three blokes. Yeah, yeah, imagine, imagine the chaos that comes out of that. And that's worst case scenario by any means.
But that's, that's what all I focus on. You know what I mean? If you can, if you can stop that, if they can find a way to stop that kind of shit, fuck, I'm all. For it shows there, it shows there, you know, and we talk about, you know, management and all that, but like how much fucking trust is on so many different individuals 100% on a mine on a mine site to do their job. Like there's fucking so many
layers of it as things of and. That's the other thing is like production being close to development is you, you create all those extra interactions. If it's just production, if it's just production and development's miles away, we're just bogging to start that. That is our sole purpose. Whereas if fucking you got RTS and you got jumbos, you got people in and out everywhere. And as soon as you create multiple interactions, rest me for disaster. Well, the further on statistically.
Something is going to go wrong. The further on we go, when you got automated drilling and stuff like that between the solos, you start to have that one sneaky level that's in between two stopping fronts, level to level and the jumbo happens to be working here. Old mates running 2 fucking solos because you can drill them both on auto.
He's driving back and forwards. He doesn't know, he's just drilled into the bottom of the fucking jumbo and wipe something out or whatever, you know what I mean? Those interactions are the biggest part and I feel that it should always be that the jumbo should be two levels in front of a stopping. 2 levels. Man, always, you know, and that just comes down to planning and efficiency in my, in my opinion,
look. Well, but it comes down to like there's cases where it just can't be done because they, they, they turn the mill on. Yeah, that's and then they. Have to start. They have to start producing. It's all economical. It's all and. They're like they've told the market now we're going to be poor and gold this day and they they start producing while the fucking jumbo's in there and. Like.
The minute they put. It and they, but they never catch up. The minute, the minute they put a fucking solo in the same level as my Jumbo, like behind me or in front of me. Fucking see you later. Yeah, I assume everyone. Knows. I mean, you don't know how to run your fucking mind and you're doing a shit job of that. Like if I am flat out working a heading here and there's a solo drill and a state behind me, go fuck yourself. He can do both.
Yeah, see you later. Because you clearly can't run your fucking mind. Yeah, when you look at the mines that get set up the best like and one talking about the 5% develop that Woodlawn mine, like they've been waiting for ages to turn it on and fucking everything to get the mill going and waiting for fucking copper prices to leave. But there's two years of development in already for production to start. How good that's going to be, how
good when you kick off. So when that kicks off, it's like they've got all the decline and everything, so development will be completely decoupled from production. So they should fucking just. Kill by rights you should never have to wait like you will just keep punching you.
They clients turning your accesses, rads, sumps, whatever you fucking access cycle is. You know, cut them in, get to your start punching them down to the next one and then you have another jumbo work those two while all mates still cutting your fucking accesses and carrying on and moving. The same thing like large hands of the exact same man. Like obviously they had to change their whole everything when lithium went went to the tank, but we've we've we've
punched fucking big or drives. They're they're ready like, you know what I mean? And so and we're punching the other or drives. They're they're doing exactly like adult bucket fills my heart with happiness. But we're doing we're literally doing all the lateral development while we're smashing our decline down. We will have that separation like that. They'd rather than like we need to make bank right now, you know, and they're lucky they're fed from the open pit that's
still running. But we will be set up that we will be, you know, work In Sync and mine and pay still and do everything rather than be like. What about right the, the new, the new school versus the old school, Tucker, the, the people coming through now compared to the people you worked with in your early days. Is there any difference? Everyone's. On a Oh, there's definitely. Everyone's on their phone at the tag board. Now there's. Definitely a difference.
The difference is I think you you can be a different this is going to sound awful. You can be a different person now and be in mining like you can be a bit nerdy, you can be quiet, you can be whatever. Whereas when I started I was probably even worse for future like fucking you had to be like you had to be a piss wreck. You had to be like, and I struggled, man. Like I used to be fucking like, not who I am like. Fat with glasses.
Yeah, I was fat with glasses, but like I was like fucking not, not built for the weaponry that mining underground mining was like it was fucking lot. Yeah. I had to like readjust and big and fit in basically you, you just could not do that anymore. Like, do you know what I mean? Like, you can be your own person, you can be quiet, you can do all that. You if you were like that, you just, you wouldn't happen. You either would not get a job
to start with. Yeah. Or you would you just get shot or pushed out immediately? So what? What's different now? Like. Aptitude as a start, like everyone that I worked with back in the day had a certain degree of being able to think for themselves. Bit of initiative, like being creative when the when shit went bad, they could still react and sort of adjust.
Like nowadays I find that a lot of the guys, if you bring in, no offence to all my young counterparts that I do fucking work with, but like when shit goes wrong, they struggle to make a decision. You're not exposed to as much these days. Look, I find like where I am, you start on the truck and you can't even, you bubble, you know, for so long. So when shit goes bad, you call the fitter and the truck gets fixed and you carry on. Whereas look, I, I don't know about you, I started as the
nipper. I had driven down to a jumbo, didn't even have a manual licence. And they just said do everything he says, see you later. And off you went. Yeah, that was that was my induction. And yeah, well, the part of this. Step hanging on while he drives to his next job and you, you don't fucking know you are this. Is the norm, yeah. And that's. Well, there's no. Other you.
You're not driving to you, you're just like the bitch hanging off the side to do. All I got told what to do and that was it and if I didn't do as I was told I either got backhanded or fucking screamed at or hit with shit. All the old bits used to get thrown at me. Hey fuck, they hurt man. I forgot stubby plates once and just got the biggest backhand I've ever had in me life and I just thought, fuck, I won't do that twice, you know, You know
what I mean? Look, you don't think nowadays you'd but it's you'd have turned to water. You cry. You. But honestly it's fucking abuse. Like it's it's dry it up but like. It was, but it was. Lucky bald man never abused me but it was a fucking hobby and I fucked up lots. Like Dragon. Oh, crunch, crunch of a kid. Yeah. You know, and so like the man had his work cut out for him, but you know, like you fuck up, you wear it. Do you know what I mean? And so like, it was the same.
It was the same environment. Like you just cannot do that anymore. Like and but it's for a good thing too, because like, fuck, I did not like getting treated like a stepchild like absolute shit, horrendous. It was horrific and like I didn't know any better. So it's just fucking how it wasn't that 20 years later I'm like, fuck, that was shit house you. Know so it's obviously different now. Like fucking anyone can. Doesn't matter if they're shy. Temperament bloody. Male.
Female bloody. If you, if you the 3A's, if you're good attitude turn up and you have semi good ability or you want to learn and you want to keep growing yourself, you can make it. You can make it in the mining industry, whereas back then you had to be an absolute mongrel. You had to drink peace. Like, yeah, it was your life. Like if you did not drink 27 beers, you were going to die. Like, yeah. Like it was, it was just a whole different world. Like, and I'm.
I'm not. It's not a bad thing. Yeah. Like I fucking loved my years coming up and doing all that. Like I loved very well soon. I love. Yeah. Yeah, I was. I'm built for drinking Pierce. Like there's one thing I'm good at. I wasn't. I wouldn't have. I wouldn't have. Known I was built for blowing numbers. They got fucking big holes in the toilet. But like, but but now it's good because like how many JCS I've met that you'd never meet because they are like temperamental or like they're
not fucking. You got to be like, you got to be quite masculine. Like you had to be like, oh so oh man, it was fucking a mongrel job. It's a, it's a, it's fucking underground. It's shit. It's hot. It wasn't. It wasn't uncommon to have a punch on if you needed to. You know what? I. Mean fighting over a fucking hose because like, fucking old man's been giving you lip for a week and he's punching over a water hose. It's like, you know, shit changing, tuning him up, yeah,
fucking just having a crack. Look, it's just like how it was. It's. So it's not a bad thing that it's changed. I've been so but I've seen so many awesome operators that you would just would never even had a look in like they're too quiet or too shy or they don't drink peas or whatever the case may be because like and it's all changed, but they are some of the best workers and best at what they do like so I reckon it's changed for the better.
Yeah, like, yeah, I try and look after all my workforce like fuck, I bring nipper traits in, fucking fly out with like lollies and shit. Give me a give me a hand to do a job fucking like ego, you know, like because I, I remember, and I also did too, because you're a product of your environment, you get traded like shit. This is what happens when you get to that role. You trade everyone like shit, you you replicate that. Then at a certain point you're
like, fuck, I hated that. Let's not fuck, you know what I mean? Let's not do it anymore. Let's not do that anymore. Let's try and fucking look after like, you know, and then whatever certain point in my life cycle that that happened, now it's like, yeah, fucking yeah. It sucks, man. Like fucking thanks for helping me. Like you actually like, you know, catch more. What does it catch? More flies with honey and
vinegar. So I was like, you know, the more you like help people and tell them they're doing a good job and fucking appreciate everything, the better everything is, you know? Oh, who would know? So I couldn't tell you the names of the 20 blokes that punched me in the face, but the one bloke gave me a can of coke when I showed up and had to turn. I'll tell you who he is like, you know what I mean? It's the same concept.
Effectively, I learned the nipper treats and it's awful, but like when we're in Africa because like they've got fuck all now. The can of Coke, a can of coke for one of the locals that was off sign. Yeah, he would fucking do everything. Yeah. Like a small trinket treat and it's so irrelevant to us and even for for me to give my offsider of you know, it's something it's it's a weird thing, like a small trick or treat.
Thanks for helping me. Fucking here's this like, you know, we're all sweating our asses off fucking I'm going to crack an icy cold can of coke out of a water bottle. Here you go. They're having one too. That small weird thing is, it's proved priceless once I discovered that. Automated the work in Freeport years and years and years ago and he reckons I can't remember whether it was Vegemite or peanut butter sandwiches.
And all he used to do is make two of them, come and give them to the storm and every day and just be like here you go, couple of sandwiches for you. Because the locals didn't get to take the food out of the mess. So he'd come back with a couple of sandwiches every day, just give him the old mate, and he would open up a fucking container with millions of dollars worth of consumables in it. Like, yeah, drill bits, whatever you want.
Everyone else has run a race sharp, so that's just walking out with boxes. Brand new, whatever. All for a couple of fucking sandwiches. You know fuck all. He. Didn't even pay for the sandwiches. No, that's right. That's right. But it's but. It's a simple gesture. Give it to you. Yeah, so. It's it's fucking man. I'll fly out to work. I'll check a 30 pack of coke in. Yeah.
I'll I'll put like fucking Audi energy drinks that are $0.99 and then I'll want one at fucking midnight and the offside is busting his whole you go bras. What you know $0.99? Sake of a dollar? Yeah, he's made your, but then he's less than that by standard. He's like, fuck yeah, like, you know, and it's like, but it's something I learned 10 plus years ago. I just call them nipper treats. Like bring bags of fucking chewy, awesome lollies.
Like fucking like, you know, the I get the fitters, the sparkies, everyone comes at nipper treats. They'll come and ride the lollies. Who gives a fuck? Like, but it's something so fucking simple, like, you know? That you get you everything. Out like it's like an appreciation for the job you're doing, even though you're getting paid to the job and it is your job. It's that little bit of fucking gratification and then and
something's like thanks man. You know, you just don't realise how much that affects people when that goes all the way out to big management. When you go into a meeting and they're like you fucking useless fucks, like fucking you just couldn't organise the shit out of your own ass. Then you want to like, yeah, we're going to go underground and do heaps and fucking stuff like you can do. Fuck all, you're going to fuck the dog like.
You whereas like coming like, yeah, look, we've had a bad month, but like he's done really well. I've been like, you know, a bit of a fucking pep talk. Build his up. You want to keep carrying the build up, don't you Like? It's no one's perfect. You can wear that. Like if they come in and say, look, we had a challenging month, you know, blah, blah, blah. It was a bit shit. This happened, this happened. But you know, you guys did a good job. You did it safely.
Then that's all we expect from you. Yeah, on the borderline, you know, we expect you to do your fucking job we want to do. More, but you want to do more than. You know, you guys tried and it's not like you're not trying. So that's that's all you want. You know what I mean? You can. Come in the next month. I can come in every fucking month after that. I'd be pretty upset if I kept coming in and everyone was not fucking winning. But yeah, yeah. But you know what I mean.
If they can just say to you along. But it's simple. Things it's it's so simple and you like cost him nothing. I remember, I remember talking and news have both worked with him. Actually, that's probably how he's both got on the jumbo. Barry Upton, I remember, yeah, remember talking to him and he's one of the legends of the contracting industry. He told, he told me, he said hear more than two things.
He says when he'd go up for a site visit somewhere, he'd go do an underground troop, he'd go address the mate and he says yeah, and tell him two things and he'd just get up. He's like, look, I walked into, I walked into this drive. Services were absolutely perfect. I walked into this other drive, services were a bit shit in there. I just want the standards to be like that. Drive just told him two things, simple and fucking similar, and they retain it.
You know the ones when they do the big management speeches and it's 10 minutes and just. But he had like she, she, she. She had good standards, like it was you give positive reinforcement followed by like you drop the ball a bit there. So it's like, yeah, lift just headed to there without berating you like yeah, but come on. He was kissed on the Dick by an Angel that. Man, like fuck me Unicorn, Fuck me Unicorn. That's when I was. Working at Rock, he was there and no shit.
He would come to sight man and he would walk up to you. You don't might have only met the once Yeah, but he would come up to you to be G'day Jeff How are the dogs memory. Yeah, you know they he could tell you your name and he would remember 1 little thing about you. Yeah, fuck if I know how like I can't remember what I had fucking breakfast man. Yeah, I would, but he could flat out come in. G'day Jeff how are the dogs? And he would he would ask me that because he knew he had
dogs. Didn't fucking matter. Whether he masked me? That once or every time fucking. I worked for Brock for a lot of years. He's got on the jumbo with every person and people but and he. Was all cause of him but a little bit like yeah, he he yeah, but like he'd. Come to sight. Man, and he'd be. Like down the bar having a beer with you. He's like, hey, Tucker, how you doing? How's your fucking whatever and name your girlfriend of the time. Like whatever, whatever last whatever.
The last conversation you had with this man might be 12 months, and he would do that with fuck everybody, 1000 people. Like it was baffling, even though I was like, that's fucking surreal. Like, that is amazing talent. Yeah, but Daddy left that he went. You wouldn't. Run. It's worse. It's way to go in the industry. I don't think. Odda. Odda. Exactly. Yeah, a person. Of his role and calibre, really. Calibre, yeah.
To come and talk to you as. Like fucking and I was only charged up or whatever or fuck, like, you know, 'cause I worked my way up, I went to rock charge, I worked my way to the jumbo from there. And it's like to have like the big boss rolling and like talk to you. Like, you're like, man, you would talk. You're worth a shit, you know, like, yeah, like. That shit is priceless. Like it was a phenomenal thing, man, and like that would be as worth waiting gold in his
managerial status. What other any other shout out to? Who else have you worked with like that that stand out in your careers, that like people that you know, that all management teams, that you know, you just must. It must be in the doctor. It must be in. The name Luke Upton, Yeah, like credit to him. Burn, cut offshore now. Is he offshore now? Yeah, OK. Yeah, because I know when. To Barbie cut for a while and stuff like that. He was always the one.
I used to wind up Beasley because I would always tell Beasley, you're the second best project manager I've ever heard. And like that's. You know that's. Kind of a compliment. Yeah. Yeah. But at the same time, like Luke Afton, I remember I I first started and Luke was a shift boss. And I reckon, I don't know, you'd probably call him and ask him the exact age, but I'd say 27, maybe 28. And all of that looks 27 too. Yeah, I know. Fuck him.
I've known him the whole time. He knew me when I had hair. Now I'm fucked. So he's. He's done pretty well. Use himself what you did. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Probably not but but. Even back then I. Was like fuck me. That's eleven years older than me. He's already in front of everybody. Like that's fucking impressive. Then the next year he was the foreman and then I was just some measly old fucking nipper or a charge up bloke or something stupid. But over the years I worked with him a lot.
Fuck me, like a lot. Like my time at ACM and stuff like that. And odd, even now to this day, I don't reckon I've found a better project manager than him. The way the way he ran the joint was like he was still the foreman with a point to prove and you know, just just honest. And if you didn't lie to him, he was fucking excellent, you know, And they all gave up lying years ago after all this because that
was too smart. He'd catch you out a million fucking times over if you start fucking lying to him. And then he'd come down on you like a sack of shit. I was a sack of shit back then. So I'll probably do it with your eyebrow. I ring in. I deserve probably 99% of the Rev UPS. All I got from him. Close to 100 probably, but it makes you into probably 100. But.
But for me? He was one of the more influential people over the long run that I'll sort of thought more about as I got older and matured, became a better minor, the more I focused on kind of like what he did and my interactions with him as I was effectively growing up. Because I was fucking 18 when I started, you know what I mean?
I was fucking boy in a man's world kind of making me way through and as I got older and started to mature a bit, I was only probably last year that happened, but. But look, you know what I mean. But yeah, that's it's funny when. You talk about guys like that. Like and the industry sees W Guild doing their thing now, but a lot of these people that get talked about it from ACM who that's right by West Guild and that's why W guilder owner operated those days they built they.
Helped build build those companies and build them. I see, I see them had a bad rap but. I don't really care what anyone says in the long run, better standards than. They created some of the fucking. Best miners I know how. What was the? What was what was there? That created that. What's the attitude towards? Success. I think that was small enough as well where they could. Dr standards for and it was still service and it was still very. Quality to maintain the quality, yeah, you know.
What I mean when? When you needed, Yeah. Fuck all to do it with 'cause they didn't have money. After time but but but that made you. Improvise that made you think that made you adapt and right look at what was in front of you and actually be able to come up with an no evolution of the properly disposable that was that was proper. Constage of mine. Yeah, but that was. Proper contracting it was it. Was fucking. It was really. Mince up clips go to the dump. Pull them out of all the old
vent bag that's at the dump. Yeah, yeah. Proper contracting. And I don't give a fuck. Like some of the best miners. I've run into over the years and like, I'm talking about guys that influenced me look up to and you look at him now, burn card offshore. He's nobody's fool. Yeah, you know what I mean? He's he's written his own path with him mining over the years, EXACM or not. Yeah, but I I don't have a bad word to say about them all. You know, Mickey Rat, Brian
Roden, all those guys. It's good to struggle, though. It's. Good to struggle though. It's great to struggle. I love. Those. It's everything all the time, yeah. Like it's simple, you just waste it like unbolt rebuilt a new one and throw it away. Whereas if you don't fucking have anything, it's like disposable culture. You're not to break anything. I. Remember when I was in Africa? Fucking. Kevin Flynn, He was a project manager there. Fuck knows what happened to the
ship. Pirates raided it. Who knows? Like the ship that brought all that shit in just didn't fucking turn up, You know, middle of West Africa, you get fuck all. Good luck. And he'd he'd walk, he'd park at the top and walk the entire mine. And we had no mince up clips. He fucking picked up. He just carried this bucket down and fucked, man. He picked up fucking thousands of these fucking midst upwards. Yeah man, but like but we had none. Probably saved a few LV tyres but. Then we could.
Then we could hang vent. Then we could. Fucking carry on like you know what I mean? Like something so fucking simple and like you don't think about it until you're struggling, until you've got like, it's not even about not having money. Like sometimes it costs, sometimes you can't get the product you need. Like you know what I mean? Like, and so you don't realise when you're spoon fed everything because everything's on tap. Yeah, you don't understand where you're like fucking off.
There's no water. There's no water hose, Right. How did you get to that solution? Yeah. Bucket and a walk, man. Yeah, you know, you know what I mean? For the sake of simplicity, that's not even taking the piss. And it literally did we we flat. Out just. That's the culture these days. It's the fucking grab fucking hanging. Event Bay you grab 20 you know you can only handle 6. The rest the fucking like man, I don't even get mince up clips even to this day out of the
fucking store. I'll just wait till they've done a vent bag and I'm unplugging the jumbo or whatever and I walk along and you fucking guarantee it there's a fucking litter of them. I don't see shit on the gumbo because I don't have time. To look at the floor when I'm fucking walking around. I'll get a guy, I'll look shit. You're doing it wrong, mate. You're doing it wrong. What? About what about you, Tucker? Best management you've dealt with in your career?
You would have been through a few who's the stand outs and lots of fired me. They're good, but like, sorry, some of my favourites, Yeah, I look, I like Aaron Rimmer. Fuck, he's a pest and hard work, but he's I like, I like it straight down the lawn. You know exactly where you stand if you're being a Dick and you're not doing your job or you're whatever. Like that's how it is fucking, you know, like it is what it is. We're not getting our targets or
fucking whatever's happening. There's no like Mollycod. Well, there's no I'm going to piss in the wind and promise the world. It's just fucking. That's how it is, you know, and I've worked with Balti for a lot of years too, but fucking he just hassles me relentlessly. So I can't really chirp him up because but I'm thinking I'll think he's about chirp. Him up. I think it's his. Way it. Has to be more man. But I think it's way. It's his way of showing. Affection to you.
I've said his name already. It's going to be 6. Months of fucking misery. I already know. I can already know. I can't believe you said your current boss. I already know well fucking like you. Love the pain you love. The pain all. The rest have fired me, so fuck them guys. At least. Your boots aren't size 13. You'll remember the key difference when you're talking about management. It's. Like the ones that, and it's those two because they were the same to me.
The ones that give the fuck about you as a person, not just as someone. Their pain. They're like, they're like, how can we develop you from a boy into a man? Yeah, as a manager. Like giving you a fuck about you. And you talk about Barry Upton like you're about talking about your personal life. Like they genuinely give a fuck about you. Even if he doesn't, he just has a. Memory, you know, look, even if he doesn't and he just remembers, seems lucky he was a
fuck and that's the main thing. Lucky yes, Boomer and Baldy. It's like work side, but 50% personal side because like went through a bit of shit. Yeah, but they they know. They know if your head's. Good, your work's good. They were my. Bosses during, you know, some fucking rough times, you know what I mean? But they were the fucking. That's when, you know, you work with the absolute GCS because me drilling holes was not the priority. Yeah.
Do you know what I mean? And like, be like, you're fucking like, you, you, you're just a number. And you're just there to fucking drill holes and make money. And I know that. But then when you're fucking, when the chips are down and shit's happening, like to be looked after. And I was fucking well looked after. Like, that's why. That's why my respect is there for sure. Because it was fucking like, you don't understand. Yeah, shit, fucking yeah, exactly.
And then when they. Refer to you more as a person than just, you know, some dude that works for him. Yeah. You know, it goes a long way in the fucking envy. Rossel Smith. I mean, that's a jet. No. Yeah. Now that'll probably do it. Aye. We'll go. For three hours. Fuck Jesus fuck is fuck right now. Cheers boys. Good to have you his back. Aye, good on your cock. I'm in here. Thanks guys. Cheers. Right now. Thank you, Tucker. And Dharma sensational guys, to
my knowledge, they're. Still employed. So might. Have been a little. Event between episodes. One and two, somebody wanting to double check that things were things are squeaky. Never mind. Thanks to all the bloody partners that have made Tucker and Dharma coming on possible. Who we who we have in the show. We had K drill and we had get wet Who's bloody back goodness.
