Max Adeler (Charles Heber Clark) wrote some of the funniest stories of all time, yet he was almost embarrassed by them, and preferred to write about economics. From his 1876 book 'Elbow Room -- A Novel Without a Plot,' today and tomorrow, we present a two part story of young unrequited love called 'Love, Suffering, and Suicide.'
