Ep. 93: Embrace Your Intuition, Unleash Your Brilliance with Kate Marks

This week's mission takes us to Antwerp, a port city in Belgium with a history dating back to the Middle Ages.  It’s the epicenter of the centuries-old Diamond District that houses thousands of diamond traders, cutters, and polishers.  But, you don’t have to travel to Belgium to dig for Diamonds, every year our next guest has a diamond dig in her location as a fundraising event for cancer research. Kate Marks is the founder of Marks of Design in Shelton.  

Kate’s soccer coach, who was also her Art Teacher, told her she’d never get into an Art School.  Ignoring the naysayers, Marks’ followed her intuition and used their words as fuel to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.  After college Kate worked for several brands and designers, but she was never one to settle for complacency.  In 1999, Kate followed her intuition once again and opened Marks of Design and stayed in that location until 2016 when she moved into a much larger location.  Kate is a savvy businesswoman and a highly respected servant-leader in the community who spearheads some incredible initiatives.
