Episode description

One African’s Journey of Hunger and Sacrifice in Pursuit of the American Dream. With Black History Month upon us, I wanted to introduce you to author Patrick Asare. His new memoir, "The Boy from Boadua," tells of his struggle as a child growing up with his illiterate parents in the remote Ghanaian village of Boadua, where no one was educated beyond the middle school level. This book traces his journey from overcoming astronomical obstacles, to rising above and succeeding beyond, what anyone ever imagined or expected of him. Today, Patrick earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1995, and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 2003. He currently lives with his family in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. He is a principal at UGI Energy Services, a diversified energy services firm based in Wyomissing.
