This week, we are celebrating our SECOND ANNIVERSARY of Militantly Mixed!!! And luckily, I didn't have to do it alone. This week, we meet Dr. Jennifer Noble aka Dr. Jenn Psych on social media. She is a Psychologist, Professor, a Mixed Race Advocate, and the perfect person to bring us back to our Mixed Race narratives. While there is still a lot to talk about as it pertains to Black Lives Matter and the current uprisings, it is also important to continue sharing our stories. This discussion does both. We will meet Dr. Jenn this week and then next week she and I will continue the conversation focusing on our Menta...

This week would have been more focused on Juneteenth if not for the continued horrifying state of things. This past week so many murders and so-called "suspected suicides by hanging" have happened one after another while the Black Lives Matter movement, protests, and uprisings are happening. It gets to a point where you feel there is no hope sometimes. Something I started to notice was this concept of DAVRO, a system of shifting blame from the perpetrator to the victim, being discussed as yet an...

It is hard not to see the people protesting all over the world, day in and day out, and feel like you are not doing enough. But there are so many different ways to engage in activism that you don't have to feel like you're not doing enough if you are not on your frontlines. Personalize your activism, find ways in your daily life, and in your local community to effect change. Whether it is focusing on buying at Black and Brown owned, local, small business, or contributing to various funds, callin...

I hope that if you are physically at the protests you are returning home safely, I hope that you are all taking care of your mental and emotional health right now, and I hope th...

This week, we are re-airing episode 26 of Militantly Mixed because I have noticed a lot of recent posts, IGs, and comments about not feeling like we have permission to claim our full Mixed Ethnic heritage. I have a bee in my bonnet this week. I read an article about a biracial woman that is farming as a way to connect to her multiracial heritage and that has me asking how we can use our regular life to be radical about our Mixedness? Your girl spilled liquid on her laptop and so now there is no easy way to produce episodes this week. Hopefully, I can afford to repair it, if not, replacing will not be possible for awhile. I currently have a fundraiser to help get me back on track sooner. If you would like to support please go to http"//paypal.me/militantlymixed and all the proceeds will go towards repairing or replacing my system. Sorry for this everyone, I'll be back as soon as I can.

I've come off of hiatus to say goodbye to Caroll Spinney, whom the world knows best as Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. I was lucky enough to spend 3 days with Caroll and his wife, Debra, as a talent handler and driver for a PBS special back in 2014. During that time I got to meet and look after a childhood hero. Caroll Spinney's work as Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch meant a lot to me in childhood, his attitude and love of his work even after 50 years means a lot to me as an adult. I grieve heavil...
