That's gotta be the only thing that's grown . I'm still a little guy .
Yeah , I don't know , man , I don't know . I know you're riding bulls have gotten better , right . Yeah , been putting the work in . What about that dismount that you've always had trouble with ?
When I stay on the bulls , it works . It's not as good because I'm trying to still ride them .
All right , not trying to throw you in the bus , but man , that dismount man , I mean , you've grown but you're still a tiny guy . Yeah , but you , you ride , man . You ride like no other , so I appreciate it , yeah , yeah . So the last time you were here was almost two years ago . It was February 20 , 2023 . Episode 128 . Can you believe that ?
Time flies by when you're having fun , right You're 15 years old man .
Oh , all right , I'm getting old , right , I'm getting old , I'm getting old . Mom and dad are getting younger , right , I don't know ? Shout out to them man , biggest supporters , there's some good people , so that's out . So you graduated . Yeah , feel good .
Oh , yeah , yeah graduated early yeah , graduated a semester early . That way , as soon as they hit turn 18 , I can just go hit pro rodeos and pbrs okay all right , and that's the goal .
Yeah , all right . You 18 or 17 . Now I'm 17 .
I'll be 18 in march in march . So , dude , you're gonna get your card right away yeah , I'm gonna run on my permit this year and then we'll see about next year .
Okay , so just pbr or prca too I'm gonna do some a bunch of prcas for like columbia river circuit and stuff , and then I'll hit some pbr's whenever I can , kind of just get a taste of all the kind of Pro Bowls so chances of me seeing you pretty high .
Oh yeah , parents too , correct ?
yeah , they'll be going to what they can whenever it's priorities and stuff , because if there's Wyatt they're parents .
Yeah , so it's probably the stuff , because if there's wyatt , they're parents . Yeah . So let's go back last time you were on your , you know , slam bulls , everything else right , and then you got this injury , dude , the injury that any would make any grown man cry . You know , and probably reconsider future endeavors , but not you .
What exactly happened that day , if you don't mind , you know , trying to remember and telling the listeners what really happened to you .
Well , it was it was april of 2023 . I was at a high school rodeo in hermiston , oregon , and the first day I bucked off at like seven , eight and to where ? The next day I just told myself I was just gonna grid it out , no matter what , to get a score the next day . So I was riding my bull on sunday perf .
I was riding him , was spurring him , and then I kind of got a little leaned back and I went to pull from a wrap and then hand popped and I landed right underneath him . He just stepped on me and when he stepped on me he split my liver in half and bruised my kidney , my liver or my pancreas and some other things inside .
Yeah , how long were you in the hospital ? For A week , a week . How long were you in recovery ? For Seven weeks ? Seven weeks , all right , did you ? Did you ever question whether you're going to get back at or not , or you knew for a fact you're going to get back on ?
Well , the doctors were really questioning it because the whenever happened at first , they told me I was going to be out for at least a year yeah , and then they kept . They had to get blood drawn like three or four times every day for the week that I was in the hospital , so every time they just kept coming back .
You know , the next day it was six months , then three , and then it was right you should be able to come back in three months if you're feeling good about it and stuff .
I was trying to win state title again to where I had state finals eight weeks after that rodeo , to where three weeks after it happened I was starting physical therapy and then at the seven-week mark I got cleared but didn't have a doctor's note so they wouldn't let me ride state Were you nipping at the bit , just going back , or were you a little hesitant ?
I was ready to go back . I mean , whenever I got on that first pullback I was a little bit nervous , just because subconsciously it was still there . But this past year and everything else , I've just been learning how to really train my mind more than anything daring little guy , man , a young man , geez .
Well , what did mom say about it , man ?
they they left it up to me . I mean , they were not . It was a good time when it happened . But you know , I was wanting to go back and , like they said , you know wouldn't have mattered if they told me I couldn't get on . As soon as I was 18 I was gonna start getting on again , anyhow yeah , they were keeping us updated , man .
It was pretty nice , you know , just to get updated and thoughts and prayers your way . They , they liked that . But I was worried about you , man , and just was like , okay , well , you know he , he's gonna make the decision , and so you made the decision , you didn't hesitate and , dude , now you're rocking it trying to , that's for sure all right .
Well , what would dad say ?
he's proud of me , you know it's . He was happy for me just coming back , just proving to myself that , you know , even though I wasn't riding a lot of bulls as soon as I came back , I was still getting on and putting out the effort .
He was just happy with me , you know , putting it behind me and trying to push through it rather than let dwelling on it and letting it eat me up yeah , yeah , well , it didn't eat you up , though , right no , uh , there was a couple times where it was kind of I'd buck off rules that I should be riding all the time and it was kind of just making me
question things . But just had to kind of put that out and just trust myself and get back to doing what I know how to do .
Yeah , people probably wonder why I shout your parents out . It's because , when I've seen you , parents are always there supportive , right . Without them , you wouldn't be able to go anywhere . Oh , yeah , no for sure . So I have to shout them out , man , I have to shout them out , so shout out to them . So you're doing high school rodeo .
Yeah , how's that going ?
I'm leading it after the fall season and then the spring season will start up in April .
And you're able to do spring since you graduated .
Yeah , I was going to graduate a whole year early , but in order to still be eligible for high school rodeo , I had to graduate after January 1st .
Who has better bull riders , Washington or Oregon ?
I don't really know about Washington but Oregon . We got a bunch of young freshmen coming up this year that next couple years it's going to be exciting to see them .
Okay , what region is better ? At Oregon we're just a state , well I know . But what region ? You got Central . You got the Bend Redmond area . You got the bend redmond area .
You got the southern part , medford climate falls I'm the only bull rider out of klamath so I mean I guess I gotta go with klamath . But all right , pretty much everybody's from rosebury or redmond okay yeah , all right , redmond .
Okay , yeah , all right . Yeah , how's a old lane Vaughn doing , man , you guys keeping in touch , yeah , yeah .
He's in college in Texas . He's riding them all at all of them big pro rodeos .
Yeah , yeah , but he's going to college . So after high school , are you going to go to college ? Yeah ? All right Now . Where are you going , man ? Now you're college . Yeah , all , right now , where are you going , man ? Now you're speaking my language , so where are you going ? I think I'm gonna go to nebraska and north platte , nebraska .
That's what roy was saying . Nebraska , see , okay , yeah , I just nebraska , though I can see oklahoma , I can see texas , I can see arizona , can see Arizona .
But Nebraska they got some cool programs that I really like and then Coach told me that I could get on bulls whenever I want , and that was really a good deciding factor , just being able to have bulls whenever I want to get on them , All right .
It's cold there too . Oh yeah , it's hot there too , yeah , that that wind is like nothing , man . There's nothing to block it . You don't . You do not have any mountains , you don't have the cascades , you know blocking that wind , man ?
yeah , I'm going to check out the school actually here in March .
Nice , nice , what's what ? What school ? Again , it's a mid Plains college .
It's in North Platte Nebraska .
Okay , you got family there , I mean .
Nope , just coach . The scene really wants me to go there and he's a good guy and I like the programs they got , so I'm going to go check her out and hopefully be signing there .
Okay , how did he find you ?
He just kind of texted me on Instagram it was middle of last year . He just kind of was saying , hey , you know what grade are you in , kind of saying , just kind of check out the school and see what they got .
Felt good . Huh . Yeah , I bet , man . I bet I could only imagine how , how elated you were . You're like that . Was that your reaction ? Or you're just agreeing with me ?
No , it was pretty exciting . It's always cool whenever people that you don't know come to you and talk to you and say , hey , you ride good , you know college rodeo , the camaraderie .
Camaraderie is one of a kind that's the one thing that they do talk about . But they also talk about , like , how they never liked school . But you know , doing college radio pretty much , uh put them in the zone to do school and do well . So yeah , it's pretty . It's pretty cool , man , what the college rodeo uh do for free kids , man . So do a great job .
¶ Future Plans in Rodeo and Education
I know you will , I know you will , but dude , yeah that's . That's awesome to know that you're gonna go further in your education , man , so continue the education part too . All right , yeah , so along with college rodeo , you're gonna do prca and pbr . Yep , okay , now did you talk to coach about that ?
I'm gonna go talk to him more at uh school , but I gotta have some rodeos because nebraska , I don't know how much there's around in the winter and everything else but for rodeo PBRs , it gives me something to do all year long well , I know up north they got those indoors .
So if they have the indoors up north there , well they'll probably have some indoors where you're gonna be , which is very helpful . Yeah , yeah , when you start , you gotta keep . Keep me , uh posted , all right will do I'm excited , man . I'm just glad you're going dude . Awesome , that's awesome , man . What program are you gonna take ?
I'm debating between that . I have a cool construction program or welding okay , well , you welding down there when , uh , when you were in school , no , I was , uh , I did school up until like covid and then I was homeschooled to where I didn't really have any of those cool classes like shop class or any of that gotcha , gotcha , all right .
so all right , man , you're gonna get your hands dirty and wow , welding . I have a bunch of kids at school where I work , man , they love it and always want to do trade , trade , trade , trade . So , yeah , you're going to have to get the measurement right , the heat all the way to everything . Basically , get that fine line . Yeah , be fun , yeah , yeah , yeah .
Well , you know , uh , dalton , he's a welder , so if you need any , uh , you know somebody to help you out , he's , I'm pretty sure he'll help you out . So , cct , you're gonna do cct , yeah , with everything else oh yeah , I'm gonna hit as many as I can .
That's , I'm trying to win cct this year , so I'm gonna go to as many as I can and , you know , until I go off to college in the fall what is it about cct man ? it's I was 11 when I went to my first one . Then I went to my first school that same year and then back then I couldn't ride a stick horse .
But then Jason and Joe , they really helped me a lot with just everything . They put on a little clinic and then just since then they've been . They're just really good people all around where it's good environment and good pools , just good having fun , close rodeos Well well , they always have those people coming back , you know .
So it says a lot , probably means a lot for all parties , correct ? Yeah , yeah , so all right , when done with school , it's in the future . Okay , when done with school , you going back to the roots , are you gonna go with the big boys down south ? I don't know . I know I put you on the spot , yeah I haven't really thought about it .
But I haven't really , like , really gone in depth thinking about it of , yeah , where I want to go , because , no matter what , I'm gonna have to be traveling for rodeo . So , right , serious , you're gonna be busy , man , no matter what I'm going to have to be traveling for rodeo .

Sometime in my 30s , probably probably . Yeah , how many bones you break ? So far two all right college , pbr , prca , what , what else ?
gonna finish off the year in high school rodeo this year through nationals and then hit ccts , pr , prcas , pbrs and just kind of whatever other rodeos I can find . Just kind of try to hit it hard this year .
Nationals and Wyoming correct . Yes , sir , yeah , yeah , and then you're gonna see the washington boys . Huh , yeah , yeah , hey , someone , dude snyderman , marriott brothers , right , I know , uh jc yeah , yeah .
Okay , I had connor dean on too yeah , I didn't get to hear that episode yet , but I've seen he had him on yeah , those boys talk a lot and yeah , they're uh one and two , one two punch in the the high school rankings , so yeah , it's pretty , pretty good stuff .
I guess , uh , uh jc like is a couple points ahead of connor dean and connor dean is just like , hey , I'm gonna take it , kind of thing . So yeah , it's a little rivalry there .
I remember uh jc came up with j dub or came down because they traveled to come to the you know the studio to do an episode well j dub did , but jc was there and he was always talking about contracting . But now dude is own in the , the bull riding . It's like dude , are you kidding me ?
So yeah , it's pretty interesting to see how you know things change and go into a plan . You know more different plan . So yeah , it's pretty cool , man , pretty cool .
