Even when evil men rule, truth is suppressed and circumstances test our faith, God is in charge, judgment is coming and the gospel still saves. As exiles in a world that is not our final home, we should not think it strange when we are ridiculed for our Christian values or experience hardship. Rather we can take heart knowing that because God is sovereign over all things, the fiery trials that we go through are superintended by Him to test us. The fiery trials prove what we are made of. They not only refine our faith, but they reveal our hope in Christ before a watching world. (Daniel 3)

God Himself provides the way for us to be forgiven and restored. Psalm 51, David's prayer of repentance, points to the cross and the wrath four our sins paid in full by Jesus.
When we know the love of Jesus, we will do more than weep over the lost state of humanity; our anguish will move us to action.
