The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. This is Mick Shot screaming live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the official Dallas Cowboys have now Here are Bill Jones, Everson Wolves, and Nicky Spagnola, And here we are. It's another edition of Mick Shots as we get you a set for the Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles this week, and look back at what happened on Sunday at at and T Stadium. A little bit further as well, Bill Jones, and I'm
going to adjust my audio level here just slightly. Here. There we go Bill Jones with Mickey Spagnola and the s WBC Mortgage Studio and the four time Pro bowler Everson Walls as well in his own home studio. Let's start with you, Everson. How are you doing? I'm doing fine, Bill. You know every time you always know this what I'm wearing. I gotta tell you, I have so much cowboy gear back there, man, it's ridiculous. If it's free, it's for me. I gotta tell you, man, this stuff is good stuff. Man.
I love the cowboy gear. They got the best looking cowboy best looking gear period than any other sports team. That's what I like about them. I don't know who the designers are, but they do a good job. Hey, they do, And it looks like Mickey has the same philosophy. I'll tell you what. So I've been you know, they you give us every year and we go to training camp. They would give us something, right, we're supposed to wear it at training camp. So I've got a closet full
of stuff. So I figured when I retire and I'm not working, i don't need any other clothes. I'm gonna wear all this stuff. I wear Cowboys every day. Every day. Man, I'm wearing something cowboy. No sense buying anything new because most of the stuff is brand new. If they want to, if they want to recognize me, or I d me after a deadly accident or something, Well, was he wearing cowboy gear? Yeah? I see what. Yep, that's now I understand why it was. Why I see older people and
they'll be wearing jumpsuits right or overalls. It's like there's no sense dressing up anymore. We lost, we lost. We know we're we've reached our peak and we're on our way down the hill. So yeah, well I worry about it. I got my play with us. I'll tell you this, but I see that making monkey that. Yeah, and you got any positioned better where we give a proper signage to BBC Mortgage as well, which is figured we ought to position it right. Yeah, but that's exactly right along
those lines. As far as cal Boys gear goes, you know those Hawaiian Cowboys shirts that we got when we were in Hawaii last year, they were the hit of Thanksgiving at our house. This year with my family here with my son in laws, I was able to hand out. We watched the Cowboy game that afternoon in U in Cowboys Hawaiian shirts. So there you go. Now you make a good point, Bill because it helps you save money doing Christmas as wets exactly right. I love it. I
love that. Seems like five years ago, yeah and it was just last year. Yeah yeah, all okay, Well, I uh I started off the show describing Everson Walls as a four time Pro Bowler and that would be more more Pro Bowlers than the Cowboys, four more Pro Bowlers than the Cowboys have this year. I didn't I didn't even know that the Pro Bowl teams were gonna be announced yesterday right before the I Didn't Eat six twenty sportscast. It comes down that, you know, the Pro Bowl teams
are being announced. Of course there's no Pro Bowl game this year. Uh. And they were making the announcement on the NFL network and then I went through it and I was like, well, okay, not that I thought that a Cowboy player was deserving, but I went through the list, and I went through it again and again and again, like there's no Cowboys on this list. Well that first time it's nineteen eighty nine. That didn't surprise No, I did not surprise me. But I thought, well, they're all
line injured reserve. Yeah, that's right, right, it's exactly right. Oh my gosh, start with Tyrn Smith and Zach Martin and Dak Prescott. If he would have kept playing, he would have been right there in the hunt. And if those guys were playing, Ezekiel Elliott would be back in there. And who knows where Marie Cooper was. So yeah, if all we know, de Marcus Lawrence might be in as well, because if we're bawling on the other side of the ball, then that gives him opportunities for sacks and exact and
impact making plays. That's why I found it amusing, you know, talk radio God bless him, right, Uh yeah, that shows you how bad this roster is. And it's like, okay, let's have a little bit of understanding here. So I thought the interesting thing was I remembered eighty nine, right, there was no no Pro bowlers that year, and I'll get to what Jerry Jones had to say about it. But in eighty seven and eighty eight there was only one and it was herschel Walker, and eighty six there
were none, so I was curious. Wall eighty five who was on it? Well, Doug Cosby, Tony Hill, Randy White, and one Everson Walls. By the way, I still have the picture. I still have the picture, yeah, of the four of you, of the four of us together with the little ladies in the hula skirts, and uh yeah, I still have the picture. That's why I can. I can see it now as you were calling it out. I think that was Doug Cosby's first and only Pro Bowl.
Cowboys have obviously always been known for having great tight ends. First we had Billy Joe Dupree. Now I don't think Billy Joe made a Pro Bowl. But as Billy Joe started getting older, then here comes uh Cosby, who just really took it to an entirely different level. He wasn't nearly as good a blocker as Billy Joe was, but at that time we have started opening up the offense a little bit more, and Cosby was our guy. Man.
I gotta say what I saw with Novocheck. Cosby wasn't as athletic, but he was as prolific as Jay Novacheck was at that tight end position. I just looked up I just looked up Billy Joe. I just looked up Billy Joe. He did make three Pro Bowls, seventy seven and seventy eight. He made three Pro Bowls. So the Pro Bowlers string for the Cowboys really didn't start until ninety one, because in ninety they only had one and
it was rookie Emmett Smith before all that started. But you know, it was interesting what Jerry said today, and I'm sure he wasn't surprised that they didn't have any, but when they brought up eighty nine, he goes, no, we didn't have any in eighty nine, but there was a bunch of guys on the roster that became Pro Bowlers. I can tell you that. So I went back and looked to see that eighty nine roster and the future
Pro Bowlers. Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Mark two in A, Nate Newton, Mark Stepnoski, Tony Tilbert, Daryl Johnston, and Ken Norton Junior. All those guys were on that eighty nine team. Uh some of them were starting. N oh. I forget. I think Gogan made it when he got traded or he ended up as a free a Raiders. The Raiders is that where he went. I thought he made it as a didn't make it as a cowboy because he
wasn't he was. He didn't he was he was good enough. Yeah, he really didn't get good until after that Super Bowl ninety two, I think ninety three. But he always had that. He always had the attitude of a pro bowler, and he whipped many Pro Bowlers asses, I must say, during the year. And and let's just let's call it like it is. Kevin Gogan one of the coolest guys ever. He's the only person that we know of to get into a fight at the Pro Bowl in Hawaiian That's
how you know, that's typical. There was somebody else, no Randy White. Who else was it? Randy White with the Bears that year? Now, oh my god, might be five season. Now I was there. You're talking about a fight during the game from the game Kevin No, no, no, Kevin Gogan got into a fight on the field in a game where there's that time no one really cared about giving effort. My rookie year, and and and a little bit after that, we were all like gun hole Pro Bowl,
we gotta win. Well by the time Gogan got there, and it's just a laugh, right, and uh so that's everyone's attitude, but not Gogan. He comes in there and I don't know what happened, but he roused somebody up. Next thing, you know, his helmet. He has someone else's helmet in his hand and they're going off like, dude, this is Hawaii. No one gets upset but doing but
Randy's his was even crazier. Well, the first time he got into it, the alcohol involved with looking, the alcohol involved with ye, it was that preseason game with the Bears where he got into it with Mark Bourts, I think it was, and he yanked his helmet play season he yanked his helmet off and boinked him on top of the head with it, and he got thrown out. And asked him about it today, he'll tell you, well, I didn't want to play anyway. It was one hundred
damned degrees. But the difference in the two fights at the Pro Bowl during the Pro Bowl week is Randy got into a fight at least one, maybe multiple, Yeah, during the week at Pro Bowl week, not at the game. This is aven game, Kevin, And to me, practice getting into it in practice is just as bad because no one no, I'm gonna say that practice. It was away
from practice. To you know, Coach McKay from the Bucks, I remember that was I think that was our first Pro Bowl, maybe second, and he promised us the practices were gonna be so easy and quick that we would be on the beach by the time the tide was up. I believe it's how he put it. So you know, if you were to just go hang out the beach, then you came to the right team. So John McKay was the best Pro Bowl coach. Gene Stallings, not knowing he'd had no idea, he comes in, We're we're doing
our calisthenics, and no one's doing calisthenics. Once again, no one cares. And while we're doing calisthenics, Gene Stallings comes up to Mark Hayes, pro bowled defensive back from the New York Giants, and asked him to buckle his chinz trap while he's stretching. You know, you see, you know what I'm talking about, spag, I mean, And Mark Hayes is looking at him like, bro, what is your problem? And I think I don't even think he's he fastened it.
And I think at that point Gene kind of realized, Okay, let me let me back up a little bit. So so man, this cond to me. So if you look at this cowboy roster, now, do you see potential future Pro bowlers? Now it's gonna ask that question. That's a good one. Yeah, I definitely see one. So I'll start, definitely see one. I'll start lawns. I'll start with ceedee lamb. There you go. I'll let you guys each take a shot.
Give me somebody I gotta I gotta go with. Just because you named the wide receiver, I'm gonna go with the Marcus Lawrence. But of course Maria Cooper guys. You know, his consistency is still there even this year, and those guys have already been Just think I want a new guy, Well, yeah, you so you want someone that hadn't made it then, yes see, I thought give you another one if he had been healthy. I thought Lall Collins was on his way to be a Pro Bowl offensive tackle. I thought
he had a really good year last year. Unfortunately he didn't play where one of the problems that works against him. There's so many other cowboy offensive line right I tried? And all right, So Everson, what do you think about trade? What's his what's his potential in this league? I don't
see it yet. I just don't see it yet because just the coach is not there unless he can come in like like mayor Renfroll did, like I did, like Mike downs to where you just you know, all of a sudden, you know, here they come and boom, there's there's you know, the playmaking ability right there. Uh, he's gonna have to rise very very quickly. Now, just because you're not a pro bowler, to me, that that's that's
not a knock on you as a player. There's a lot of guys that didn't make the Pro Bowl out there that are extremely valuable to their team and their system. And if you don't get recognized from a league wide standpoint, sometimes that guy can be your guy and you still
don't make the Pro Bowl. And I got to throw your boy in there, Layton vander esh I thought, I think if he has the potentially, if he could just stay away from the injuries, and if this defense can somehow get a lot of I wouldn't say other people around him, but if they can just somehow get a hold of this system and get the right fit, whether it's player, coach, you know calls, whether it's you know, teammates around you. I think he could be a lynch
pen for our defense. And it's improvement because he's not gonna make it with this defense. I'm saying, with the stats that we're talking about right now, the defense has to improve and therefore he has to be a product of that improvement. But I think it can happen. Oka. Of course, he has made the Pro Bowl already in his career. His rookie year, he made the Pro Bowl. Layton vander Esch, he was an at end. Yeah, I
forgot about that, Yeah, And that's the other difference. That's the other difference between now in the eighties, Wheneverson was going there, weren't there, weren't guys opting out so much back in the eighties, is what they're we could we look forward to that trip and every one when no one was making a lot of money. So now fear of losing big salaries and the way there is right now now those players they're not paying for the trips anyway. The rest of the year, they know on they get themselves,
their families, their girlfriends, whoever. You know, they got endorsement deals that sending them over there or wherever they want to go around the world. Why don't Yeah, I mean and at the time, I don't know what they're paying now. But at the time, if you won, you got ten gs. If you lost something like seventy five hundred. So unless
you're going to raise the purse. But even so, it's got to it's got to change significantly because the salaries have just gone through the roof from where they were at the time. Pro Bowl will never be a competitive game again. Yeah, I'm gonna give you one more and this mate come out of the blue. But I think Tyler Badish has a shot at this. I think that had he not strained his hamstring, he still would be the starting center and Joe Looney would be the backup.
They're gonna keep it the way it is. It sounded like yesterday, I think I can't remember if it was McCarthy or Kellen Moore talking about they just wanted to go with continuity. Now this will be like three weeks in a row with the same five and the same spots on the offensive line. But I think Beadish, what he showed, has an opportunity to be one of those guys.
And I'll tell you another guy. And I think Bill will appreciate this because yesterday Mike Nolan said, if this guy improves as much next year as he has during the middle of the season this year, we've got ourselves a player, and that's Neville Gallimore. He just thinks that, he just thinks that he has proved so much from the start of the season to where he's at now. Now. Unfortunately he's got a sprained ankle. We'll see what happens going forward. But he balled out a couple of days ago.
Remember he did this what he's doing now without an offseason without a preseason shortened training camp. He gets a normal off season next year. I think they're expecting big things from him. I got one more. I got one more, and everything is based on, you know, the ability to come back and how tough the injury is. We're talking about Doug Cosby. I just think Blake Jarlin is a
hell of a tight end. I don't know about his blocking, and I mean we can see that obviously it's tough to block in this system because Sheltz is having a few issues as well. But just Blake reminded me a lot of Cosby and of Novocheck in regards to when he catches it, it ain't over. I mean, he's just as dangerous when he catches it. His eye is on the prize in the end zone, and I like that aggressiveness that he has. His hands are amazing. He knows
how to get open. Defensive backs have a problem guarding him, and he's got great athleticism. So I don't know how his rehab is coming, but man, if everything would have gone well, you would be looking at him as one of the tight ends with big numbers, with big numbers in the NFL this year. If it wasn't for Dad getting hurt. Well, and having said that, Dalton Schultz has
really come out of nowhere this year. He's gonna end up probably with sixty catches as a tight end, and that's pretty much of an accompliment for a guy that really hadn't caught the ball that much. A sturdy tight end. He's not the flashy guy down the field, but he knows where to find the open spots. He catches the ball well. He's in blocking needs to improve, but it would be a pretty good two tight end system now
once Blake Jarwin gets back in here. The key on all of these is that team has still win games, yep, and in fact, and only they need we're talking two years down the road on these. You gotta win games one year and then you got to back it up the next year with another solid season, and then you get a half dozen to eight or nine Pro bowlers on your team. All right, that doesn't for our Pro
Bowls segment. There's so much more to get to, including these Philadelphia Eagles when we come back in a moment on mix shots. And if you haven't gotten word already, the Washington football team plays Carolina on Sunday and that game got flexed to three oh five. It was a new game. It's now at three oh five. And of course the reason behind that is if Washington had won that game, they would have eliminated Dallas hand Philadelphia, I guess for the NFC East title. And so they want to keep the
suspense going all about my head. I tell you, boy, I'd have the Cowboys and the Eagles knowing going into their game that they might be eliminated. So so, you know, I think about about situations like that. It shows the significance of the Cowboys, right, even in this situation. Yeah, I gotta say, God, let's say I was a Let's say I was a supporter of a team, you know, whether I was a family member, like like Bill said, girlfriend, son, daughter,
you're coming to see my father or whatever. Play brother and I got a flight out. It's a noon game, okay, Yeah, I got flat out at say six, you know, Okay, let's playing the time now, you know, Come on, man, what do I do now? What do I do? Now? My plans are made? You change it? What the week of the company? Like? What four days before the game? I can't change this flight, you know what I mean?
It's just crazy, man, I think about those inconveniences sometimes in regards it's just for you know, ever since truly it's not just for family members. There's a lot of Like for let's say it happened to the Cowboys, Let's say the Cowboys were going from noon at this late
time to three o'clock kickoff. There are a lot of people who fly in just for the Cowboy game, and if it was a noon game, might have a six or seven o'clock fly like scouts or scouts or agents or anything like independent journalists, right, I mean not, there's just so many different categories. Yeah, yeah, journalists. So, speaking speaking of Washington's getting flexed, if Dwayne Hatskins is suspended and they may do that and Alex Smith is not ready to play, he's got a calf injury, who's next
on their roster to play quarterback? Somebody from the practice squad? He was out there the other day. He was out there the other day, wasn't he Let me look at the Washington's did he finish the game? For? Has Washington to have Kyle all Is Kyle Allen hurt still? Ye? Yeah, he's he's hurt, Allen. He's hurt, So Josh hurt. Josh Woodrum was on their practice squad earlier. Off to look it up to see who's on it now. I thought Kyle Allen was on injured reserve. Oh Heineck, Taylor Heineke.
They signed Taylor Heineke or Tyler Heineke after after Alan went down. I believe so here used to be in Minnesota. So here's their situation. Haskins as a starter is now one in four, Kyle Allen was one in three, and Alex Smith was four and one. So think about what's happened to them. If Alex Smith is not ready to come back and play this week, and and Dwayne Haskins, how do you get somebody to take a picture of you and put it on social media when you're in
the strip club without a mask on. I'm not sure I want that guy take me. I gotta tell you, guys, strip Joints and their marketing, you know, they they really are doing great marketing doing the bubble with Lou Williams. Okay, we found out that in Atlanta they've got the best lemon pepper wings that you could ever want to taste. If you ever want to go to Magic City. That's what I found out. Now you've got this strip joint, man, that's just great marketing. People are gonna be coming in
there now. They're gonna be looking for guys who are trying to ditch the get you know, ditch practice and ditch isolation. You can't get any better marketing than that, you know, Come on, let's invest facts. Let's invest in Magic City. Yes, six six feet of distance gives new meeting the lap dancers hunt crab legs. I like that, Chris. So there they're okay, we're going off the rails here. Side of guys, go ahead, get back. Were talking about. I mean, if he's if they suspend him or you know,
find them, I don't know what they might do. I mean there's some rules there. Um, if Alex Smith's not ready, what is the rule? What what is the protocol? What is the PC? They can find them, they can suspend them, they can put them on COVID reserve list. The league can do it. The team doesn't even have to do I was gonna ask you with the league or our team, and the team said that they were going to consult the league about it. So the league may have something
to say about this one. They're gonna beg the league not to suspend them so they won't have to go deep into the practice. Right when they made the three quarterbacks because of close contact without mask on, they made them sit them. So this is this is that could play so well into the Cowboys hands, that could play so well into the hands Maybe to come on, man by drama. This is some drama, right, the worms turning. I love it. This is drama. We got strip joints,
we got lemon pepper wings, we got crab legs. Come on, man only twenty twenty. Okay, I'm trying to figure out. I'm reading the story, trying to figure out where they are as far as uh Alex Smith goes and so forth. But you know, that's an interesting game to begin with because of course it's Ron Rivera's former team, the Panthers, that they're going up against, and so people are thinking, oh,
there's a little extra motivation there. But even from the Panther side, I like what Matt Rule has done at Carolina, and even with a healthy roster or with a non COVID issue on the Washington team, with the quarterback, I kind of like Carolina's chances as a sleeper in this game. Anytime you have a veteran quarterback like Teddy, you know,
I guess I'm assuming he's still healthy. I didn't see him go down, But someone like him who's just so even tempered, level headed, got the experience, knows his wide receiver as well. And every game they've played pretty much they've had a chance to win it. Now their record is not that good, but they've just had some problems defensively. But otherwise that team is no walkover and they're playing
for next year too. I mean, when you look at Carolina, they fired their GM on Monday, and so this uff that they're putting on tape into this season for the new GM who eventually will be hired there, they're going to be taking a close look at it. So there's motivation for those Carolina players to play well against Washington this week. And you start talking about it's not talking about, you know where the team is that two middle of the pack to try and tank a game, So it
wouldn't benefit them at all. Right, So those are the kind of teams. They're gonna play it out, and they're gonna play out this season strong. And but my point on the GM is Okay, Now you've got a new regime coming in and so it's a fresh sheet of paper for everybody. And so now they can look at these final two games, says, hey, I've got an opportunity. I might have an opportunity in Carolina next year with
the whoever comes in that's new. Um. Anyway, you know, it's gonna be interesting as far as the Cowboys and Eagles go this week. And you know, we've got another show tomorrow to talk about ja Eland Hurts as well.
But uh, it's just gonna be very interesting to see what the Cowboys are doing game planning for Hurts because because Hurts obviously the Cowboys have had such issues uh as far as their run defense is concerned running quarterbacks as well, going back to the Arizona game with Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore game and uh, it's yeah, even Adam from Washington was was nimble footing around there
for us. It's gonna be fascinating to see the chess game, uh, from an offensive strategy, new quarterback and Hurts making his third start against what the Cowboys can come up with defensively. As far as the game plan without Layton vander Esh, Well, you're just gonna play, just play four cornerbacks. Any last what we did there Grambling, I mean, think about it.
What are you hearing on the You don't have you don't have anybody that can run with him as a linebacker, right, you would have to use a dB to try and run, and I'm not sure who can run with him. Uh what am I hearing on? Well, vander he's he's probably out. I think he's got a high ankle sprain that he's probably out at least a couple of weeks. You would think, Uh, I thought maybe between Antoine Woods, uh, Neville Gallimore, maybe they get back Xavier Woods with his ribs and Michael
Gallup with a hip injury. We'll see where that goes. But yeah, they're gonna have to figure out what to do at linebacker. You know, they kind of did a combination of of Sean Lee and Joe Thomas. Uh, although a lot of times what they had when Joe Thomas was in the second linebacker, he was lining up on the line of scrimmage and he was blitching quite a bit. So yeah, we'll have to remain and see where those injuries go. One thing you have to be worried about. Guys.
We know that Jalen could run the ball, We've seen that. But his passing has definitely improved. I'm not talking about deep passes, but those gain management, intermedia throws. He's pretty decent at that. And he's got wide receivers that can just get open long enough for him to find them. So you're talking about experience at the wide receiver position. We're not just looking at the running game here. We're looking at setups, we're looking at play action. You know,
these teams have seen each other so many times. This is gonna be a dangerous game for the Cowboys. All right. To Mickey's point, as far as how fast Jalen hurts is, how fast do you think he is? Oh, I don't know what his forty speed is, but he sure seems fast on the field. I've given him a four four I'm guessing four, yeah, four four five at the combine. At the at the combine he ran a four or five nine, four or five nine combine. Combines are tough, yeah,
combines a tough sometimes to run. I think having watched him every game is last year at in college at Oklahoma it's not so much as speed. He's a smart runner. Uh. He is a lot of times. Uh. It was design runs. Uh. And I see him that with the Eagles, which is very smart game playing wise with him. Uh. And where he gets in an isolated situation where he just has to beat one guy or or on those zone reads, you know, he just has to make the decision and
it's wide open. He is, to your point, both Mickey and eversin he does he seems to cut, he run, he glides, He covers ground quickly, even though he doesn't have the track speed. You know, he doesn't have that same kind of speed quickness that Kyler Murray has as far as being elusive like that. But if it's there,
he makes the most of it. And so I think, and that's why I think from a strategic standpoint, scheming both offensively and defensively, it's fascinating because that's I think how he makes his yardage in the one thing before we go, one thing before we break. You know, when you start talking about running the forty, that's a whole
black quarterback thing, you know that, right? Jack Harris James Harris from Gramley State University said he ran as slow as he could so they wouldn't put him a tight end. So Jalen Hurst probably was like, I don't want to impress them too much with my speed because they're all really trying to put me in the slot. So that's a black quarterback thing right there. We won't we won't go on those uh those combines. I think. I think all you gotta do with Jalen Hurts is see him
throw the football. I mean that was the first thing when he when they announced he was transferred from Alabama and Oklahoma, and I looked at him, I said, well, I was excited about it. This guy, I mean, he hadn't probed me, no thought of moving rows. He improved his cornerback powers while in college. I still take my chances of him throwing the ball and keep him in the pocket then creating on the outside. And exhibit A to what Bill was talking about was last night Finley
was killing the Steelers running the ball. This guy didn't look mean Lamon Jackson. Yeah right, the guy didn't look like he could run a five flat forty and he was killing him running. He goes in standing up, he's standing up. He goes in standing up. You know, I think. Steve Young was talking about it on the pregame show last night on ESPN. You know, and Steve Young ways a terrific running quarterback, you know, very elusive, but he talks about the you know, the way offenses are designed
today in the mobile quarterbacks, the run past threat. I mean, there's too much area for defenses to cover. They give you twenty five yards to run with. Chris, Chris looks like this, looks like Bill Christie Man, that's your man. My grandmother would come out start winding the alarm clock like it was time to leave, right, got his hand up looking at his watch. He spent time. I want to hear it. So right now, the Cowboys at five and nine would have the ninth pick in the NFL Draft only because their their strength of schedule is weaker than the other four teams that are currently five and nine. So that's how close this thing is. The Cowboys at five and nine and the Denver Broncos at five and nine are thirteenth. So there's five teams
right now at five and nine. The Cowboys their strength of schedule four ninety five, the Giants five oh three, the Lions five oh five, San Francisco five thirty three, and Denver five seventy seven. So has this thing plays out, there's gonna be some changes even if you win games or lose games, because they're all bunched up so closely. And there's two teams right now at six and eight,
Minnesota and New England. So this whole thing about tanking and losing and oh if you're winning, it's all jumbled up in there and it won't be decided so many different things will how do I say this decide these ties? Because these teams all have to play so many different games. I have a question. I have one question. If I'm a New York Jets fan and I want them to tank, what do I do with Sam Donald? Like the rest of the way. Yeah, it's yeah. I mean that they're
all talking about getting sunshine. That's what I call him. They're talking about getting sunshine. And so what do you do with this this quarterback that you held it so highly, you know, just a couple of years ago. Sunshine. It's Trevor Lawrence. Okay, but he's going to Jacksonville, now, is it? Yeah, I guess Jacksonville's got the top pick now because the Jets one. So let's say if the Jets lost, That was my point. Yeah, let's say if the Jets lost,
so you're gonna get another quarterback? You got Sam Donald over here that you just he was our guy, that was our guy. Well you let's just look at how well he can throw the ball, and we're talking about how great he's gonna be, and he's gonna take these Jets somewhere. And now Jets are grounded. Now you're you're looking for sunshine. So let's say Jacksonville stupidly in tanking eyes, stupidly wins the game. Yeah, so the Jets are back ended again. So you got Donald and then you're saying, okay,
we want sunshine. So what happens with Donald, Well, Jimmy Johnson would say, yes, you want both, you want both, you can't That's what he said even this year or about the Cowboys that with that coming back, you want top pick in dak And I'm waiting to hear. Go ahead, I'm gonna say, And tomorrow we'll talk about what if what Philadelphia does with Carson Wentz. There, there you go, that's another way and come and pass this one up.
So Detroit they got interim head coach, right, he fires the special teams coach because the special teams coach didn't listen to him. Can you imagine the special team coach going, nah, you're only the interim head coach. I want to Brandon Brandon Coombs. And they were fourth and four, fourth and fourth at their own thirty one and all they picked up was three yards. And he fired him the next
day because Tennessee, he probably fired him. He probably fired him on the locker room because said he said he had to go to the GM and the upper management to see what they wanted to do here because that's just not the right culture here for the special teams coach. So I heard people talking about how how John fossil Uh makes the calls for the fakes on his own without McCarthy calling him. I'm going, are you serious? Serious? Learned some fun? Ye? Noope, that's not gonna happen. And
yet it happened in Detroit. Yet it happened, and worst and if the last time it's gonna happen in Detroit, Tennessee was up thirty eighteen and all they needed was six plays to make it forty to eighteen or thirty nine eighteen. Well, that's a little different to it when you're down thirty two to eighteen rather than twenty sixteen or twenty to sixteen. Who y'are talking about? I don't nobody. I'm not there. You guys are talking about? Yeah. I
just threw that out as a random example. My point on my point on the matter with calling fakes onlike a punt, It's not like you looked at it and you go, oh, let's run that fake. You've planned out that. If we get in this situation and we need a fake at this point, here is the one we're gonna use for this game because I've scouted how they defend the punt. Not oh yeah, let's just go. Hey, hey, Mike,
you better, you better at least get a wink. You better at least get a wink from the coach or something before you make sure you guys on the same day that's got you got the green light on it, or else you gotta be home for Christmas. Look on the bright side, that Special Team's coach he got, he gets to be home for Christmas. No, maybe that was what he wanted anyway. All right, I think we're out of time now. We're gonna take our final break here, which means we are done with the show here on
Mixed Shots. But we will be back for a Cowboy one thirty tomorrow. It's it's our it will be our Christmas edition, and so I want to see you with a Santa head on tomorrow. Ever, stip all right, I have no no, I don't. I don't put on Santa Hastin. They might have me sneaking into people's homes and putting president. I'm not doing that. All right, We'll see you tomorrow here on Mixed Shots. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
