The following. Here's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboys. This is Mick Shot screaming live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the official Dallas Cowboys have now Here are Bill Jones, Everson Walls, and Nicky Spagnola. Well, what's the meatlow song? Two out of three? Eight? Well, Everson Walls is here, Mickey Spagnola is here for Mick Shots in the SWBC podcast studio
at the Star. But Bill Jones and I understand this, when you have more than one master, you have to maybe sometimes go the other direction. And so Bill is away doing an interview for CBS eleven, and you're just gonna have Everson and Mickey today unless Nat and Frisco stops. Mate. Hey, so we have to we should take a tally on who's missed the most days, right Yeah. I think you'd win in as far as the least amount of days, right right, Yeah, at least show at least for this year. Yeah,
it's yes show, so you should. You don't give much credit for that. I haven't had any ailments or any surgeries or Oh by the way, you will be glad to know that my return to the DPS office to get my driver's license was successful. Yes, yes, you did it, you did it. No, no rants today. It was really funny because I gave the lady the little sheet that you had to fill out, gave her my driver's license, and the first thing she asked, she goes, you got your passport, and I said, I've got my passport, I
got my birth certificate, and I got my Social Security card. Now, so which one did they actually need that? One of the three? I think either one of the first two. Oh, first two. Yeah, so social not everybody no birth certificate or passport. Yeah, because I guess when you get your passport maybe they're more official checking your background to make sure you're not an illegal. Well I don't, I have, I have, I have three years okay. It also says you can you can renew it two years in advance.
Oh okay, yeah, yeah, and you can renew it if it expires too. By the way, you're just taking the chance of getting stopped with an expired license. That's all. I'm happy. They look good, though. I like the real, the real idea. Yeah, that's got the little gold star on there to make sure that you're yes, welcome to Welcome to this century. Yes, absolutely, I got it done. And the lady was very pleasant too, by the way. Not see there you were ranting yesterday. Now you need
to give those people some life. I did. I did. I told her, I said, thank you for being so pleasant. There you go, because a lot of times when you go in there, those people hate their jobs. Right, it wasn't a sloth. Yeah right, that's a good word to Chris. All Right, cowboys, colts, we are almost there. It's Friday. The Cowboys have basically meetings today, no practice. Um. The injury port only changed by one person. And there was I think a misconception going on earlier yesterday that Terrence
Steele was out with a sickness. I found out he was out with a personal family situation. So you you you huh right. I got to the bottom of it, right, Detective. Yeah, I'm short for detective. Come on, man, Okay, I'm just saying it is. I can't help because his name is maginy rhymes Okay, sorry, but anyway, he'll he should be
good to go m for Sunday. Although the two guys that were out with illnesses, Digs and Gallop, were still out, But Mike McCarthy basically said today he felt pretty good that they should be good to go, and I think he felt a bar He said that yesterday good to go, and Curse and DeMarcus Lawrence at least were limited all week, so they should be good to go too. So for Les, yeah, for a health standpoint, they should be in pretty good
shape and they would. And he also said they would make a decision on Washington probably on Saturday, see how practice goes, and see just kind of where he's at. But the way he talked about it, it's almost like, well, it's sto It's like he's ready to go, even though he hadn't had any off season or training camp or practice. Yeah, just a couple of days. Three he would have had three practices. So we'll see where that one goes. And then for Tyran Smith, they're going to see where he's
at next week. But it sounds like they're, you know, doing different contingency plans on who's playing where and just make sure that when they have eight guys up on the offensive line, that the other three are very versatile that can do different things. And that's that's what I talked about yesterday, the luxury that we have with the depth on this team. That is something that took a lot of planning and a lot of foresight from the from the coaching staff and the scouting because these guys
that we have getting rid of bash them. That lets you know what kind of luxury we have around here. The fact that you were able to let someone like that go. I thought he was a good player. Yeah, and I know that no chance of I haven't seen. I haven't seen it. Um like signing them back to the practice squad. So now they have an open spot on the fifty three man roster. They only have fifty two.
So there's a spot, there's a watch. There's a spot for Washington, uh, you know, or Beckham, although you could basically say we're signing you to the practice squad until you're ready to play and not carry deadweight on the fifty three man roster, because you can practice if you're on the practice squad. So he's in New York today and then is still scheduled to be in Dallas on Monday. It'll need to take a physical, and he's not signing with New York right He's not going to sign with it.
Go back there who wants to go back. I mean it sounds attractive because of the city itself, but you know he's still visiting Buffalo today. Yeah, I mean I did I say your ai, Well he's going to Ye did New York and Buffalo and Buffalo to the day? Yeah, I got it backwards. Now that Buffalo they very attractive to him, Yeah, really very especially you know, just the way they talk about the Bills, the chance they have going to the Super Bowl, they give him a better
chance than anybody. They won. The night before they won, well they played an extra game. They're nine in three, so they were eight and three just like the Cowboys. Um, but no one likes the Cowboys to win it all. And that wasn't a spectacular performance by the way last night either. Well they haven't had spectacular performances in about a month, right, And so that's just the way it is since they lost to the Vikings, well even before that.
You know, everything sounds good in the offseason and you try to build on the next season, but teams are ramping up a buffalo just like they ran for the Cowboy. This is what the Cowboys go through every week, right, whether we're Sally or whether we're good, it doesn't matter. Then Buffalo is getting the taste of that. And Josh is just not really understanding that sometimes force meets force, right, and you don't always win, you know. He's kind of
like Dak. He's so determined and I'm gonna be this, I'm gonna good, I'm gonna wield my team to victory. That works a lot of times, but when it doesn't, you gotta know how to pivot a little bit. And he's right now, he's trying to learn how to pivot. He's doing a pretty good job though, Yeah, and you can see and when it works, it always looks great. Like he doesn't give up on a play. Okay, I'm gonna run, right. He got hit a couple of times
last night, and see that's not gonna last long. You can ask Cam Newton about that, right, Big guys like that, all of a sudden you start slowing down. You wonder why your maneuverability and where it used to be, things of that nature. So he needs to be he needs to pace himself right, as I tell my guys when we go out the happy hour. Pace Okay, well, you know what I think The guy in Baltimore starting to
figure that out. Yes he is. I mean when he starts taking hit after hit after hit, right, Um so yeah, so I think the Buffalo. But again, it's gonna come down to who pays what I guarantee you and who's gonna give him a long term attractive yeah deal. Yeah yeah, I mean, I mean you hate to see that that's this, but it's it's life. Right. Well, I'm sure he'll look at it like this because it's uh, it can go hand in hand. You're a good deal with a good team.
He doesn't have to be with a bad team. He doesn't have to compromise, right, being with the Giants, to me, that's compromising. Right. If you go on the Buffalo, then I'm thinking, okay, they'll they'll most likely give me a good deal on a damn good team. Right. That should be good for a period of times that I think he has got some stability, right, the head coach should have stability. Um, and that if you look at like that, Buffalo and Dallas should be number one. Those two should
be tops on this list. Yeah. And then again from his standpoint, um know, I don't know if when they say you come in for a physical, do they physically make you run so I could see where you're at because you know, you can take an MRI of the knee and see you know what it's doing. But okay, now what kind of shape. Yeah, he'll be he'll probably do that into us, right, I would think. So, yeah, we ain't gonna be here Monday peaking, right, you got
to be paparazzi, right, would be paparazzi on the sideline. Right. We need to we need to find somebody. Oh and the other thing is is the Cowboys Club is closed on on Mondays. Oh yeah, so we couldn't sneak up there and look. Right, So he'll be here Monday, although the people at doctor Doctor Pepper Curing would be able to see. They'll do it indoors. Yeah, obviously if he agrees to do it, you might already have his mind made up in Buffalo, or maybe he's saying, no, I'm
not working out, and i'd have a problem with that. Yeah, I think I would too, right, because you kind of got to know, you got to know where where he's going. Well, from his standpoint, he's thinking, you know, I'm a vetean and unproven, Uh, you know, get the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure that's what he's thinking, because are you willing the guest Mick that they're gonna work him out on grass?
He's a big advocate of getting rid of twelve? You are he got, so how would why would you want to bring him in here then say, oh, guess what I go put get on the turf that he doesn't like. Well, so I'm just letting you know, I think you think I would do if you're gonna work him out on grass and you're gonna do it, so you think he would be the Cowboys would have him out here and in the open. So to speaking, well, I'm saying work out, he's probably gonna be next door look in the Carol
clinic for a while. Yeah, to be honest with you, I mean they've got to check that out, you know. And of course somebody made this point, you know, um last year when he went to the Rams and he did it, so that was react me if I'm wrong here. That was kind of a mid season deal, early season,
so he had already been practicing before he got there. Okay. Yeah, he was released by Cleveland in October, like October eighth, and sign the Rams October like eleven, So he would have gone through training camp now this year nothing right, nothing since he got hurt in the Super Bowl. So I think you got to take that into kind I mean, what would be like your immediate expectation of him, is he is he Odell Beckham Junior? Three years ago? Is
he Odell Beckham Junior? The first few games he played with the Rams or the guy in the playoffs, that was pretty darn good. But you also have to take in consideration, don't you. That's the same acl in the same knee. So so I think there's a lot of things to consider here. Think what you need to consider playing in the cold weather city with that type of injury, or playing indoors at least opportunity to play indoors. You're
gonna go to Buffalo. You know, that turf as hard as hell, right, It's frozen and its tired, right, especially you know as the sudden goes down. You know, I think that's really a factor for him playing in Buffalo in that weather. There's nothing the wear and tear on a previously surgery need, right, That's that's something that as you get out there running around in that cold weather, every step seems heavier and heavier. It's just the way
it is. You have to you know, your body has to adapt to that, right, you know, and you don't have much time to do that. And you know, and the Cowboys haven't minced words. They still want them, I think, but they got to see these other things too. You know. It's like they're saying all the right things, but it's like, Okay, now we got to talk health, we got to talk
when you're ready to play, and money. And they want to accommodate him in every way that they can, right, And they want to prioritize certain things for us, not just for him, right, So we gotta come out with us, is basically. It's what I'm saying. Yeah, and and and then just the fact that they know they've got contracts coming up that they got to deal with. And you know, they're eight and three without him, So if if he
was here, would they be nine and two? You know, the offense didn't fail in Green Bay, the defense didn't, right, So I think, yeah, there's a lot of things to consider, and I don't think they would be very you know, cavalier with their salary cap money available, knowing that you know, digs lam, these guys are gonna need contracts here real soon Dax goes up, Michael Parsons will be going in his third year. So now I sudden, you know, I guess they would, but they would have him, Yeah, but
they would have rights for two year. Yeah, right there. I mean that's gonna be just below a quarterback exactly, just like Jack's deal. Yeah, it's a priority. Yeah, we're not letting them get away. And here's something interesting, meck. If you look at the Cowboys schedule moving forward. Okay, so if you bring Beckham in, he's not gonna play against Houston. Would you agree with that? Man? I agree with you. Okay, So when's the first game he's gonna play.
It's a short week against phil No, Jacksonville. You say you played against Jacksonville, right, that would be that would be the soonest right, which is they play on grass? Okay, So if you want to talk about the grass turf thing, okay, So he'd only have one more opportunity as if the standing stay right now, there's only two more opportunities. He'd play on turf the rest of the way. If it's if it stands right now, right, you got Philadelphia is a home game for US, Okay, so he'll play I'm
turf there, Okay. Tennessee is grass. Washington is grass. Okay if we make the playoffs, but Washington's grass. Its grass, trust me? Yeah, yeah, at Washington is grassy. Yes. So then if we if we're the fourth seed, would have to go play against Tampa right as of right now, it's grass. Okay. If you win that game, you probably got to play against Philadelphia grass again is grass? Yeah,
they have grass. They have grass in Philadelphia. And then uh, the last game would be would be between Minnesota that could be a turf game or San Francisco out there. I believe San Francisco is grass as well. And then the Super Bowl if you want to get that far, is in Arizona, which we all know is grass. So grass will have it. I mean, I'm just saying, you think he's looked at it like that, Chris, I don't think they look at it like that. He is. He's
been a big advocate of of get rid of turf. Correct. I'll tell you what if the Cowboys with that, that's the sale. I don't know if I don't know if that's something that would be that he's he's already aware of. But it's definitely a sale if you bring it, you bring that up to in the negotiations. But the bottom line is guaranteed money. Guaranteed money. Obviously it's all about the cat. Doesn't matter what turf, doesn't matter what you're
As long as I'm guaranteed my money, I'll get hurt again. Right. But it's an interesting concept that is well, I mean that would be a fact, A lot of it would be. I think that'd be a factor. I really do. I think that would be a factor if you were to bring that up to him, if he didn't already know it. It's of course you want the money, but as you scale it down, Okay, that's that's a selling point. That's
that's a good job because that is a selling point. Well, the other selling point is if he has any doubt, if he's where he's going to sign, he better not going that office with Jerry. He will sell will he will convince him that this is the place to go. Right. I've always said that if you were doing a business deal with Jerry, don't get in the office because he'll talk you in to say. I think they I think
they enjoy being talked into by Jerry, right, you understand. Yeah, I think that's that's a process that I think a lot of them might look forward to. You know, Hey, I'm sitting up here and Jerry's trying to impress me, right, So that's that would be pretty cool. All right. We will continue with mix shots here. We're gonna hit our break and then get into these cults and a little bit more on mix shots. The Medal of Honor is

By the way, he sent in his picks to click and pick two, So don't let me forget it's on my text message here when we get to our next segment and start breaking this. It's a very lame pick to click. I think he had two. Well, yeah he's going he did? Yeah? Has he got an either or? Or do we get the tep? This is who you're going to cancel it all out that we don't play that here. No, don't be straddling
the fence now. But and by the way, since I brought this up when the show was over yesterday and it's two three days late, but since the soccers on TV, remember my pick to click was Pelicic and he scored the winning goal out for the right. Yes, absolutely, and he got he got and then he he got hit, but he got. I was gonna say somehow posterized the wrong spot by the way. Now he was going for it though. Now that guy's relentless and yeah, and he
came up with the big goal and got their one goal. Right, can't score two? Oh, they tried and it was disallowed on the off sides. So anyway, the Colts, uh, bunch of their guys that were limited and didn't practice got upgraded to full. So. Uh, the wide receiver Kiki Kuti uh is it didn't practice with an illness on Wednesday, but he was full on Thursday. Uh. Center Ryan Kelly um knee ankle limited it on Wednesday, full on Thursday. And uh they did put one more guy. Is that
the starting center? Um? Because yes it is. He's one of their he's one of their best. I mean, he's one of their better offensive line now. Um, and that's the big injury there. Let me see who else they upgraded. You know, that guy was full, did not practice. Brandon Smith was out with a illness, So we'll see where
that one goes. That's their starting right tackle. Wow. Um, So they've had problems on that offensive line other than Quentin Nelson, although Kelly's pretty good, but they just haven't done a very good job of protecting uh, Matt Ryan and so that kind of bodes well for that cowboy pass.
Was the center playing last week? That part I don't I don't remember because he got hurt last week in the game is the one that he went out all right, So let's see when you have when you have these kinds of injuries, Man, this bowes very well for you know, I was playing. I think the biggest injury from them is Kenny Uh, the Kenny Kenny Moore, the second the cornerback, the cornerback D and p DNP Yeah, with an ankle and an ankle and those things don't clear up now
in two days. Right, the second day is pretty strong, isn't it. Yeah? They got McCarney mccordy, is it right? Yeah, and more and more as a pro bowler. So and um oh White and their other corner Isaiah Rogers uh missed, Uh, where's it at? It was limited? Then night they moved him to limit it with a knee. Yeah. And then the guy we talked about yesterday, the tight end Jelanie Woods. Um, he hasn't practiced all week with the shoulder quid and who might be walking in in Frisco? What's up? He
come into the Ho Ho ho or something? Right? Uh? So, yeah, they've they've got some injury. That's what did you say? You don't I don't want to repeat that, you know, coming in with Ho and Harry Hines. It was Harry Hines, very cute. I told not repeat. You get your microphone. Yes, sir, how y'all doing good? How are you doing well? Man? They got some hamhogs now now I'm gonna check way seriously, the ham to the hawker? You remember you remember when the guy used to bring food to the Star and
he bring in the neck ball. M How are you gentlemen doing today? We are just fine, so much better since I had my lunch already. Yeah, I just wanted to come in and eat while y'all talk. Is that okay? No, that's no. No, you gotta don't make too much. No, don't smack. Don't smack in the microphone. Smack. You don't eat them. You don't get to eat unless you talk for you. Yeah, the dogs don't don't eat. They slop so you'll be in different sounds. I hope you got
something else other than cookies to eat. Now, just a ham hooking two cookies, that's what. Oh that's what they all say. Yeah, I'm gonna get the cookies for somebody else. Yeah, how y'all doing? What are y'all talking about? Well, we were talking about their colts and some of their injuries that are concerns. Is out now, well he is, Ryan Kelly, he's been limited and then they moved them to full so well, oh yeah, but they're they're having problems at
the cornerback position. Oh yeah, now yeah, I heard about that. But I'm gonna tell you this is what scares me about these offensive linemen and and and I'm not comparing, but I'm telling you, if we had their offensive line player. I was talking about their two centers there and two guards, this thing will be ugly. They officive line in the middle is just that good. I'm telling you. I'm telling you.
They they tell you, tell me, Quentin Nelson, ain't no, ain't no. All pro well, Zach Martin, but no, no, no, no, no, I'm talking about one no no, no no, okay, Ryan Kelly, all right, okay, And and and and and freeze. He ain't a bullet all come on out. But their tackles, Now that I didn't mention you men, the tackles. This is what bothers me is when you look at the look at it objectively. Pound for pound in the middle, they're equal or better than us. But what what what
hurts them is their quarterback has ten interceptions. Their quarterback holds the ball. This offensive line is not bad. The best thing that al cow Boys can do is get up on them and make them one dimensional. I was thinking, because if I'm Jeff Saturday, if I'm gonna protect my defense, because that's the only chance they got is a defense. Is I gotta run the ball, even to my own destriment. I have to run the ball like like like the Bears did. The Bears like. Our quarterback is just not
good enough. We got to run the ball. He's not there yet doing what we need. Yeah, right right, he's growing, yes, But the other guy, Ryan is on the back end. This kid was great. Ryan was great. He was good for years for years, and now I hate to see that in a great quarterback. They don't give him anything to throw to throw to. Don't Eleving is his best wide receiver. You know, I can't recall it the tight ends any good. The other two guys I don't recognize.
And you know, I'm so you got. Everyone has potentially nate, but just on paper, this is a game where And I was thinking about this the other night, so funny he said that if this is a game to where if I'm playing, I'm telling Mike Downs, don't worry about me. We need you up there. And I would be on him, on him, and I'm talking about I'll be on the line on this guy. I'd be on the line on
this guy. My my change up. Because you have a game plan as a team, but to fit within that game plan, you have to have your own individual game plan. How you're gonna approach your component, your opponent. I would be on both of those wide receivers. You're gonna have to show me that you can beat Dicks. One of y'all over that could be Dicks. One of y'all gonna make the difference on Dicks. You show me that Paris Campbell.
They got some young and that, and that's what I've been trying to tell everybody that to listen, they have talent. They just haven't played to their town. It's that because you This is what I believe I noticed with all my heart. You cannot give a team that's ready to win, which they was four years ago, three years ago, they were ready to win, and you give them quarterback that cannot complete. The quarterbacks got worse, you Philips. They shouldn't
have tried to keep Phillips. They had, They had the chance last year. But once again you talked about the quarter I'm telling you went to let them down. And the last two games they couldn't win the last two games. Yeah, and they were before that. They were on the roll with momentum going into the end of the season. Say I would need to do is win these next two games. And all of a sudden, I think Taylor went down that that didn't help at all. He didn't wasn't running well.
At the end, they lost the last two games. So you talk about being ready to win last year, they were ready to win. They were to laugh at a great galloway Man. They should laugh at Randy. That's all Randy talked about twenty years ago. They don't have a quad of back Now. I tell any coach that's one to get hired college coming out of college are that's already savage in pros if you walk up in him, what are less than subpart? Because you can, if you
got any mind, you can build a team. But if you got a subpar team and no quarterback, stay where you ad. You know what Larry Lacewell used to tell me, he goes. You know, if if I don't have the guys on defense, I can kind of scheme it, right, Yes you can't. I could junk it up and I'll cause problems. But I can't fake offense. I cannot fake the quarterback position. You can't fake talent. Right. So here's the bottom line here. The Cowboys lead the league with
forty five sacks defense. Indianapolis quarterbacks have suffered forty three, yes, sir, thirty two just alone with Ryan and then Ellinger with eleven lets. You know they're going to try to pass as little as part or they're gonna do what the Giants did, and that was a pretty good plan. They just rolled them out, right. They kept him out of the middle, rolled him out, throw short, uh, and then
every once in a while heave it deep. He's he's a mummy, but but he's not a mummy, But I don't think i'd be moving Ryan around too, and he's not the one like Daniel Jones can move. I don't know if Ryan it's out of the pods once again, but Parsons it just it's not a good If he starts scrambling a lot, then the game is in our hands. All right, we're gonna scramble into a break here. No, no, you gotta the hamhocks. Gotta wait until we make our picks and next we paid how much for those lessons?
She's doing great? Oh yeah, totally. Can you pass me a pepsi zero sugar? Great job, honey, Oh look at that. That's not the end, no way. Now it's time for the encore. You know what, You're right? Yes, Yes, The Cowboys defensive tackles need to be on their game. Oh yeah, because the dudes don't mind. They don't mind you mucking
it up. They they can physically they either double team you out of there with the guard in the center, or they can they can singlely man handled you out of there. So you know, we have to be real conegnistant of what we're doing on first and second down because now they ain't. We all know if they get in past rushing mode, it's over right, you know. Yeah, like Jimmy say, sometime, just gotta do what's best for the team. You know, you gotta take one for the team.
And if I'm knel him like I'm running that ball sixty five times, I'm like, I ain't. I'm not. I'm gonna play as best defensive if I can keep it as close as I can and hope that Matt Ryan have a player two at the end of the game. So this will be a good indication of where this Cowboy defense is. Because the Coats have the guy that won the rushing title last year. Right, he's been hurt a little bit. He's getting help because he only game like h seven, seven hundred and change, right, Uh, four
touchdowns so last year he had eight yards. Yeah, so that's why your boys are working inside. But see that the Cowboys, what's changed from last year in the offensive line? What changed? Did they get new players that well, they're starting a rookie a tackle. That's that's one position, right, right, And I think I don't remember about the other uh the other guy, um Brandon Smith. Yeah, but he was
there last them guys is in that middle. Yeah, I remember two three years ago, now four years ago there it was our guy Zach and Quint Nelson's the best scars in the league. And I watched this kid, I'm like, he was smalling for and you just think he fell off like that. No, he hasn't, but but the culture has fell off. The physicalness has fell off and that and that's the first thing to go with age and
within experiences. You're not playing fast, you're not playing hard, you're not physical, and that's the first thing to go. Because you know, you look at the defense. They stacked on defense. They got good enough players to win. Yeah, they've done that. So the Cowboys in the last two games have held the opponent Minnesota to seventy three yards rushing and the Giants to ninety yards rushing and both
of them had quality running backs. Right, So now we see can they do this again like three games in a row, because it's been a while since they've gone back to back holding the opponent to less than one hundred yards. I think I went back and it was the first three games last year. I think, you know, when you look at those stats, a bit misleading because the yards per us was still kind of generous and a little bit too much for me to wear. If the game will flow the different way, right, then those
those yards would have they would have moved chains for us. Well. Actually, both games four point three a carry. That's kind of I mean, that's kind of in the middle. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you I tell people, but look, it should be three point nine, four old that should never want to give up. But now in the new NFL, that's back to running four three ain't bad because you just need to get some losses along the way. The previous game it was five point three, five point six, four point seven, and
four point three point five. But that was Philadelphia and they ran for one hundred and thirty six. So I think, Buddy Ryans, and I'm heading to you, one hundred and thirty six times yard of rush be good. So you're right. So the average average per carry has to come down. So if if that's Nate's key, Everson given me one, mine is always of course the rush. But if my key is for our defense to control the pace of the game. In other words, don't let those running plays.
Don't let those that's four point whatever yards are carried. Don't let those be the quality yards because if you put that on the third down, then you're moving chains. So you don't want the change to be moving the way we lost control in Green Bay during the second half, the way we've given up the yards against all the other teams. The reason we were able to keep those guys to the cumulative yards, not the yards per carry, was because we forced them to change the game plan.
They couldn't continue to run it. They weren't. They weren't going back to back four yard carries. You see, they would get the four yards. And our defense is well, I like about our defense. They're not on the heels the entire game like last year. They react and respond to those running plays. They react quickly. In other worlds is doing the drive it. We're not gonna be We're not gonna be dumbfounded for the for three downs. We
figured out much quicker. All of a sudden, Quinn knows how to dial up just the right defense to where d Law just stuff that runs that he anticipated, and then in the passing play, we got enough the right coverage to where they don't get catch the receiver they want the way they want to catch him. So we have been able to stifle their momentum in these last two games, and we weren't able to do that in those previous games. So that defense has to control their
run their drives. All right, I'm gonna let you look up Bill's picks. I was trying to go there they are. I got him. Um, so Bill has the Cowboys. I know your score. The Cowboys win, right, same man? Uh? Bill picked twenty four thirteen Cowboys, and how we're gonna have to call him out on this. He's got to pick the click is either former Cult Malik Hooker and not or yeah, Indie native Zack Martin. So he picked two. I am going to so that he picked Malik Hooker. Yeah,
I mean good, former former Cult. Yeah, we're giving him Malie Cooker. We're gonna give him Alee cook because Zach Martin him. Every we know Zack is like Pausons. Yeah, we know he's gonna be all right every week. So here's what I got. I think we're going to I think we're gonna mature this game, at least this game. I'm gonna handle these guys the way they should be handled. U defense is gonna play well, and because the defense is gonna play well, they're going to have good field
position all day long. I think the Cowboys. But that also helps my boy Turpin. Oh, I think Terpins the time. I think Turpin is gonna have as long as they blocked the guys on the end. They haven't been double teaming the gunners. And we had opportunities last week to where he could have returned it if you blocked the guys on the outside and they didn't do a good job, this single guy holding up that they did not at all. He wasn't and so he was always threatened when the
ball was coming down. He's really smart because he knows when to take a chance and when not to. I want him to get back his confidence. I just don't want them to get antsy. Well, then that's what I mean. I want I want them to get back his confidence because he is antsy. He's trying to do some things now. You can just see it. It's he's itching to get it done. Because he said yesterday in the locker room on the kickoffs, he goes, He goes, I wish they'd
let me take it out from five to six yards. Now, just stop that. Stop that. We don't need that right now. We don't need heroes right now. We just need ball players. So yeah, that's my guy. Got thirty to fourteen, Cowboys thirty to fourteen, and I have Turpin. Turpin is gonna he's gonna break one. I'm mean for a touchdown, but he's gonna make a difference in the game, all right. So my key, uh is getting off to a faster start offensively. They've gotten off to slow starts, trailing at halftime.
They need to set the tone immediately and force the Colts to have to throw the ball to catch up, and that'll unleash the pass rush. Uh, my pick, we're pretty close. I had thirty sixteen. Um, I just think they're better unless they go down there. And I just can't see us go out tanking this game. I cannot see and and I think they're past that. So um my pick to click. But you again, what was it? Thirty to sixteen? Right? And um, since I'm going to write about him and the pass rush, I am going
to take Drance Armstrong other big game. Him the guy that was basically forgotten in the off season. Now they re signed him, but everybody else kind of just oh, it's door, right, And I think he's proved everybody wrong with what you think about eight sacks. Out bragged him a lot coming out because even if he went to Kansas, thing is he was a pass rush guy. He was a penetrating he got like getting up field, brought in a new coaching staff, made him a two gap coach
Marinetta and him said we gotta pass rushing here. We got a guy that can get up field. They let him. Listen, you know, yesterday he said his goal going into the season was to get back to five sacks. I think that's where he had five or six last year. And then he goes, well, then it became eight. And it's like, so now that you got eight double digits, and he goes, well, that's crazy. He said, that's everybody. Every pass rusher's goal
is to get double digits sacks. And uh, I think he's got an opportunity because you know who they're concentrating on right right. You know they don't want Parsons doing that and They certainly don't want DeMarcus Lawrence doing that. And so the slow quarterback like this, you know, if you keep if you don't let him get the ball out quickly right, it can pull it down. It's feasting time. So to prevent the quickly, do you play man right up on the line of scrimmage? I think so that's
what I think. Now, you gotta play within your abilities. Brown just you know, if I'm gonna looking at Dicks, then I'm looking at him, you know, just shutting his guy down. He has to shut his guy down. And Brown, you know, there are times when he can, he can make some place, and he's always he's always got to have his confidence first. A five year man, I wish he would be. I wish he was more aggressive from
the beginning of the game. He always seems surprised when the guy gets off the line on and they test him early, don't think, and they do. And you know they're gonna do this to you. You know they're gonna do this to you. Just man up, let's go. You know it's coming. Forget forget the short routes. Okay, that's okay, they're gonna get those. You need to be back here man, worst case scenario right now. And I mean it didn't take me long to learn that I gotta beat enough times.
It didn't take me long to learn that, Hey, I need to I need to be back here and work my way up, because that's that's the way we're gonna be the most effective, you know, And we're almost we are At the time when he got beat on the long one, I guess it was the last game. Yeah, he was gentleman, welcome, and he backed off, and he backed off and gave cushion and the guy still ran by kind of ran. Well, they were kind of step for step, and he didn't get to that. And he's
gotta be He's gotta make space for himself. I don't care how big Mark Collins. I played with him with the Giant. He's a thick guy and so he could he could. He was like Washington. Yeah, he's about that those dimensions, and he could make space for himself. Brown has to be bigger, makes space for himself. As the ball is arriving. Okay, he's good here, but when the ball's in the air, he keeps he loses sight of it and he loses his his coordination. So he has
to be quick footage. You could go from here to here real fast, right right. The guy was a four four. Yep, he's probably the fastest guy. And that's what I'm saying, although Michael Parsons would do so, you got you gotta use your height though, you have to use your hops if you have to see, and he's got the height to do it. You know. The one guy that taught me about short corners was Ron Francis. He could cover, cover, cover, but he never could make a play on the ball. Yeah,
that's it, all right. Well, we've made a pretty good play on this Colts Cowboys game. We'll see how it turns out. We'll be back with you on Monday, because what time is it. Time to go get some ham hocks. Thanks Nate for joining us. You welcome man, all right, never said Bill. Thanks for your picks, and we'll talk at you again next time. Being on the show.
