Episode description

With no show on Friday after the Cowboys 28-20 victory over the Giants on Thanksgiving, the guys looked back one last time and what stood out in the game, especially the running of Ezekiel Elliott, Dak’s second half performance, the overall defensive effort minus the Giants late garbage touchdown and picks that didn’t click. Then, time to move on to the Colts.

The following. Here's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboys. This is Nick Shot screaming live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the official Dallas Cowboys APT now here are Bill Jones, Everson Walls, and Nicky Spagnola, Go Dallas Howboys grambling all that, and so there's the l you are. Yeah. Yeah, if your drum making, you gotta hand high staff. Yeah yeah, you got high staff and lean back. You got there to roll.

Then you know what, man, you can't do all that? Dad, You know, you know? Drum made yea stampeding into another week of mixed shots here better late than never. There it was stampede. And it seems like a long time ago now that Thanksgiving Day. I say, wait a minute, we needed to turn the page. Guys. No such thing as a twenty four hour roar. Right, it comes to Thanksgivings. We weren't here Friday. We weren't try I was. We

didn't have a podcast. No, I was here Friday too, That's right, we had Yeah, we taped the McCarthy Show on Friday, right, right, man, I had such a good Thanksgiving. It's too much fun. You get the turkey started with the turkey turkey try yes, Oh my god, I'm not thinking no, that was torture passed the turkey triy. It was the game. I took my nephew and his girlfriend to the game. She was so giddy and happy. She's a Cowboy fan and it's the first time at the

AT and T Stadium. She was just so excited, and I just I had a good time watching her. Had a good time there. You go, well, good, yeah, we we had a ball And then going home, I saw my nephew. He had just come in from you know, he's like ups pilot and all of that. So seeing him back at the house with his mom and his brothers and his sister, Man, we had such a good time. Had we acted so crazy and you know what set

the tone for the whole thing. The game The Cowboys won't get exactly it makes it makes the whole holiday so much better. The Cowboys. It's been a while too, it has been twenty eighteen. I had a very sports centric Thanksgiving. Cowboys on Thursday, got to watch Missouri beat Arkansas Friday. That went to the Stars game Friday night and they won that one too. They lost it over time, but they got a point. Time they got a point, they scored eighteen seconds left. Well, no, they scored two

goals with two minutes to go. Uh. And then Saturday with my good buddy Gil LeBreton and his wife drove to College Station for the lsu A and m GAT. Yeah, but they were measurable. Every time I looked up, the thirteen was chewing the twelve thirteen, whether they man the twelth cheer every time, every time, every time I opened my eyes, a chain was gaining ten yards. That's all I can here. Was yelling from the from the twelve. He ended up with two hundred and some yards in

the game. They ran for three hundred. Aggie fans are sitting there going, how come we couldn't do this? Had the quarterback actually looked really good too? And I'm sure that's what they were. That's crazy, that's crazy. Well, Grambling lost, but still got my love for my boys, my tigers. All right, My daughter is happy because Southern kicked out butts. They're going to play Dion's Jackson State Tigers. It's still gonna be Deon's Jackson State Tiger. Was gonna be Deon Jackson,

even if he takes another job someplace. When he takes another job somewhere, that'd be Jackson. Might he was offered to Colorado job that going to happen. And I saw the one in ten Colorado Buffalo's right, I saw that that record. That's horrible. One in ten. That's not a job that I would want, especially when you can look at the makeup of the PAC twelve now with USC and UCLA leaving and who knows what's Well, you might have a better chance, you might, Well, yeah you might.

That's what I say. That's what I say. You got a better chance. Yeah, all right, So we start with Thanksgiving Day and go forward. Or I mean, we had a nice little NFL Sunday yesterday too something, but it was no Cowboys. There was no cowburry. Yeah, but I had Cowboys applications and we got him Monday night game tonight and a scouting trip for us as we take a look at the next opponent, the Indianapolis Colts playing tonight. You know, I didn't realize it was a night game

coming up. Oh yeah, I just I didn't realize it was until they said it. Yeah, they said it on the Sunday night game, like, oh yeah, it's a Sunday night game culture. And then they had to have that goofy lead in thing with the cowboys and colts and the cowboy chasing the colt, and I did not it was on them. I wasn't looking at the TV. I just heard it. It was on the post game. I think that's how they started promoing the Sunday Night next. You know, they've got a production crew that works on

that all summer. They can't they think we're out in Wyoming or something like, we got horses running down the damn street here. We were called the cowboys. Still, I've always hated that, that, you know idea what people pay. The wild West out forced me the cowboy boots when I became a player. I hate cowboy boots, but everybody else's well, I let me buy some cowboy boots. O the worst decision ever made. I don't like cowboy boots. I'm not a cowboy. I rode a horse once in

my life. I was scared to death, so I don't depict that at all. I never have had cowboy boots. And when I've ridden horses, they didn't listen to me. They just had a same here. It's like, all right, how can this guy's got his horse doing what he wants and on the top of the head, the line's going through all the trees and the branches hitting me in the head. All right, So take us back to Thursday. Yes, we all were winners as far as our picks. Yes, I was closest. I had a more lopsided win than

well I said, I said thirty to twenty. I think I said, yep, thirty to twenty. It was twenty eight twenty, So you're right on. I had it almost perfect if Rhett Marred didn't let me down. I had had Williams with two sacks, had fumble and thirty one seventeen. I had thirty one. Man, how does he miss forty six? He was too close? Too close? Bill, You had Wilson, and I stayed with Wilson because he played, he played, he balled out. Oh, he had an interception, he balled out.

Your guy took away called for a penalty, and you, yeah, I had and I had Gallimore who didn't play. Yeah, and then you said, uh, you know, they were sick. I think I went with Armstrong. I think that was my backup I think I said doing songs, So we have to check the text one sack for his fumble thirty twin. I'm checking the text now. No Gallimore played.

Did he play? Yeah, he didn't start, but he played, okay, because but you did change yours to doing What happened was after the show on Wednesday, the injury report came out and both of our picks, Donovan Wilson and Neville Gallible, all of a sudden they weren't ruled out, but they appeared on the injury report with the illness that's been going around and so moved to questionable. Yeah, so they were questionable, and that was the first time they had

been on the injury report. Just so happened. The two guys that we pick are as as we're they're they're being diagnosed with a sickness as we're picking them as the pigs to click. In other words, we picked them the picks to get sick. That's right. And uh so then we texted and we changed. I changed mine to curse and you changed yours Armstrong. And by the way, but since my guy almost had an interception, he did have an interception, they got back to Wilson. I shouldn't

have sanctioned those changes. Yea. So it was an impressive which, by the way, which made the victory even more impressive that a bunch of those guys played through their illness after not practicing all week, which was amazing, and they had and if they have the same illness that I always been battling the last two weeks, then there is no way I would have been able to get off my sick bed to go play these guys. I mean

that they had to play without Basham Hankins. They're getting a bit more fluid, I am, well, but plus is up a little bit higher than they're younger. Yeah, that's what I mean. That's what I mean. But yeah, they played without those guys, and then Gallimore and Wilson uh and who was the other guy that was under the weather and he played They played through it. Um, So yeah, that was pretty impressive. And none of us picked Ezekiel Elliott did we as to pick the click That would

have been a good pick clicking. It shows just what you know, the old hands are talking about. Because some reason this this narrative has started. I think it just starts with more than younger people, you know, those that really haven't seen that much football to realize how you gotta have a combination of running backs, right, and you know,

for some reason they have this this urge. So you've had this conversation maybe with your son and with your others of that age, because I've had the same conversation with my son in laws that they you know, they jump on. And I love Tony Pol. I love everything that I love Tony Pol. But try, you know, but we shouldn't have to say that. I've gotta understand the value that Zeke brings. And I always point to the I think it was a game before last where you know,

they were trying to get Poler in this one. Polo was had the great game game, Game of the week, play of the week, and two times he got snatched down on the goal line, I mean snatched down like a little kid. And so then all of a sudden Zeke comes in and it's like a batterman man bom bom. And so to me, I don't care who starts, I really don't care. But they seems to care more to

the younger people than it does to someone like myself. Yeah, and as long as you can run for one hundred and sixty nine yards and they had over one hundred and seventy until they start kneeling down. Yeah, they need to put an asterisk, you know. Kneel down you get negative yards. Right, and Zeke averages five point eight a carry. All right, he's not old, he's not slow. The guy still has it. And I think I've seen what Tony

Pollard's kryptonite is. He's hunting big plays too many times instead of hitting the hole because he loves that jump, that jumps right to cut back or whatever. He's looking for a big place. Sometimes you just gotta get four yards. Sometimes he's doing it and the hole is already open, yes, and he jumps in it and okay, go Well you could have just gone without the hesitation. So yeah, but it doesn't matter if you run for one hundred and

seventy yards, you can do business. I'm happy with both of them, right, And that's what they need because the change up fools the defense they get used to Zeke Zeke, and then all of a sudden, here comes the lightning. Here's here's the thing about Zeke, though what I see has seems like it's diminished in my eyes, his ability to catch the ball. I just remember when he was younger, his his his transition from catching to running was a

little more subtle. Now it's it's it's more deliberate. And that's the only thing right now that to where you can can pigeonhold him a little bit, say, okay, well, Zeke's not gonna be running me, squeens. Zeke's not gonna be going out of the pass too often. Well, I think the pass has to be more perfect for him to catch him. No doubt, he's not, you know, versatile enough to adjust, sort of like say Kwan Barkley trying

to catch a screen pass falling down. And Zeke has looked like that in the past, trying to catch the screen pass falling down, which, by the way, the Cowboys run defense for a change held somebody to less than one hundred yards, giants to ninety and sae Quon Barkley to thirty nine yards. They just couldn't figure out. Some guy named Brightwell, how did that happen? It's five carries? He was there, Tony Poll, Yeah, I guess so, man,

he was scooting through the holes. I enjoyed that. And here's the thing, we're going to give up something so we really concentrate on the run. So all of a sudden, Jones looks a little bit better in the passing game.

I gotta give day Ball credit for figuring out, how do we compensate for three of our offensive lineman missing, And he just started rolling them out, rolling them out, you know, and it gets away from that pass rush until you know, you can't roll out and you got to throw the ball down the field, and the pass rush occurs like a person's occurs. Just the man, you know, his knack for making a play when he has to make it is unbelievable. Like they got the lead. Now

it's like, okay, can you stop the giants? And it's seconding whatever, And he gets a sack and you can feel it. You can feel it, you can feel it. I mean it's like, I mean, even his body language seems a little different. It's like he's standing taller, you know what I mean. He doesn't get down, it's like he can he's it's it's like a takeoff, you know, on a hundred yard dash, one hundred meter dash nowadays. So now I've been very impressed with the timing of

his sacks. But at the same time, we have the depth on this defensive line that allows us to have constant pressure. I've looked at some of the games this past weekend and a lot of them went a few of them went into overtime. And those overtime games, you could just see the defensive lineman. We're like, man, I'm done. They just stopped rushing. They would just stop rushing. They standing there. I hope they can knock the ball down. You don't see that without d line. There's always pressure

because we're always fresh. There were times we got pressure without Parsons even being in the game. That's lets you know what we all right now as a defensive mind when it comes to pressure. But at the same time, we put all of our efforts into stopping the running game. And that's the only reason that Jones was able to

get the passes that he was able to get. You know, I circled that that series, the Cowboys had just gone up twenty eight thirteen, eight fifty three left in the game, and the Giants were driving and they ended up with a first and tenant the Cowboys thirty eight, and all of a sudden, these guys stepped up. Anthony Brown breaks up a pass on first down, and here second and ten, they're gonna have to throw it, and Parsons just smokes Thomas, right, I don't think it tested, and it's a sack for

minus eleven ten or eleven something like that. Uh. And then on third down they get a false start third down, they gained ten On fourth and nine, Dorance Armstrong hits Jones as he's throwing the ball forces and incompletion, and that that was just that was just so significant because here come the Cowboys driving right back after they missed on fourth down at may who misses the forty six fielical I mean that would have just put the game away,

But then you found yourself, okay, garbage touchdown and now I got to recover an on side kick to survive. But they did. What was the line on the game? I have no idea. I think that that's that's the missfield goal because or the late touchdown. I think it was nine and a half and they won by eight. Yeah, that's why I don't bet that's right. Eight seconds left

in the game. Eight seconds left in the game, and a fifteen point win turns into an eight point win and somebody lost, And yeah, I don't know what the and maybe in the over under two Oh, that's true, went went to forty eight points in there, so there's no safe bet. H. Well, I can go back and look right now. It was ten, the line was ten, and the over under was forty five and a half and so from ahead, so both of them for eight

seconds left. It sounds like Chris lost some money. Producers Supreme bad the information that it was on bad beats all right, we continue with more Thanksgiving talk and looking ahead to the Indianapolis Colts in an NFL Sunday, uh and some things to talk about from yesterday's games when we come back here on Mick Shots. Okay, So that Thanksgiving game, when you look back at that game several years from now, what's the one thing you will remember from that game? This past game, this went

over the Giants, everything that happened in that game. What is the one thing you will remember from that game? That they screwed Cede Lamb out of a touchdown? Oh? Man, don't get me started with that. Wow. And then you have a guy last yesterday. He gets in with one foot and a shin. Yeah, yeah, they they gave him that, they would they the shin counts. One shin is a toe, Okay, a toe counts is a foot is on the heel. Which was it? Which did they say had to be

down there? No, foot does not have to be down You got the toe first. And if it goes toe heel, you're talking to cities, cities, the toe counts first. That's it. There's no the hole. The entire since when they make stuff up as a crazy and then they find some seven point three rule that no one's ever seen, that happens. I've seen two toe drags in the end zone. Time Chris sounds, it's time, Chris, it's time with this bag.

I promise, I'm with you. But one of the football heat in the end zone when you're running, just the ball's gotta cross. No, it doesn't. The ball just has to tip the tip of line. So why can't we tiptoe for a touchdown if we can have the tip of a ball. I don't get it. I don't get it. Then I saw it in the LSU A and M game where the kid caught the ball in the end zone. They would have been within a touchdown. They could have

on site kicked and they said he juggled the ball. Now, unless their big board is not good, he never juggled the ball and It's like, how do you come up with this stuff. I've got a friend that he goes, well, you know where these decisions come from. I go where Birmingham, Alabama? And you know how close that is to Alabama, right, and they're trying to figure out a way to get

them in that playoff because those people all just live. Yeah, it was gil, I really m I don't like it that we I'm glad that we didn't have to depend on that plight. I mean, but it did a lot to me. It did a lot for a CD Lamb every towards his reputation because at this point, he's really showing you what spectacular catch. It's really did everyone a

spectacular game that he was having. Yeah, and these last two games by Ceedee Lamb has shut everyone up, including myself, about how he needs to perform game in and game out. This is why we drafted from Oklahoma because this was the person that we saw. He was not shy about anything. He was in the game from the beginning to the end. There was no mental lapse for Ceedee Lamb at Ou and we can't have it here with the Cowboys, especially when I see a Marii Cooper still bawling for the Browns. Help.

He broke that guy's ankle? Did you see that? Did you see that? I see. I don't mind seeing a Cooper break ankles as long as ceedee Lamb is catching one hand right, So you go tip for tat as far as I'm concerned. But show me why we kept you. He's been showing that the last two games. Well, if CD wouldn't have if they would have made that a town for CD, we would never have Whackamo, That's right? Which was which was the most memorable thing that we

will remember, the greatest celebration ever. I enjoyed that Army Kettle producer supreme. You know that was where I was going. We were thinking of this football who comes with the best celebration, which, by the bye way, by just the best. That was funny, popping up and down like that, and you know that was better. That was better than the Vikings bowling wall deal. They make it the Celly this week.

What's that? There's a sponsorship of a brand that you can't say on this air by the NFL called the Celly. And you can win like a trophy for having the best celebration from the week in the NFL. Okay, I didn't know that. Go look it up, and I'm surprised. I'm surprised they didn't get penalized. Well, are they gonna get Zeke got fine? Well, they also change the penalized when Zeke threw well, well, Zeke got fine. But yeah

the first time. Yeah, but then the next year he threw Dack in there right and then and then Dak after the game said, yeah, that was pretty funny. Dad. They got enough people that will pay their fine for them also, but make sure you're up by two touches. He also told them the head of tie makes up I as will talk to Schultz after the game. Asked him at that, and he was like, He's like, well, I told the guys, well I can afford it. You

guys can't. So we'll probably just pass the tail around and we'll get the rest of it taken care of. If eighty seven doesn't stop acting like Travis kelcey, man, I don't know what I'm gonna do. This guy's really bawling. The jump, the leap over the defensive back. You know he saw that coming You saw that coming back, yeah, coming right. I was I was so excited that it did come because at first I didn't think it was going to come into fruition. And not only did he

do it, he did it so well. He came down, he didn't stumble. He was in a hurdle. He was in a hurdle, a steeple chase, and he took off after he hit the ground. It was that was no stumble, and no, he was. He hit the ground and he trucked the guy that was. Yeah, he wasn't gonna get a second hurdle. He said no, actually said he was too tired to. Plus he had hurt his knee earlier. Yeah, Loo looked nothing like that. No he yeah, he And as a matter of fact, I wrote that doubt I

said he trucked the second guy. And so when you look at these tight ends, you know, all of them adding up to one Kelsey, I'm loving it. And think about the draft. I mean, this was a great draft for tight ends. And I don't I don't know what number how many tight ends went before Ferguson, but he went in the fourth round, late fourth round, and oh how many tight ends. Yeah, and and Hendershaw wasn't drafted

at all. And so credit to this scouting department to have pinpointed these guys as guys that you could take where they took them, whether it be in the fourth round or undrafted, and they being able to play them in some substantive situation in the rookie year. Rookie year and we have they have an entire package now that they made up for these guys, right, those three three tight end package. It is extremely confusing for the defense.

And if you just take out one of those tight ends and put in the wide receiver, you're still looking at a formation that Keller Moore has really been just playing a round with that have had successful outcomes. Four tight ends, that's right, because they've been as a fullback and when they when Hendershot scored his touchdown, they were in four tight ends. There were no wide receivers on the field. Nate Nate from Frisco says credit to the

tight ends coach. No. I was just getting ready to point out Blunda Wells was the guy that was pounding table. He's a cool dude. Yeah, he was pounding the table to draft Hendershot as early as the fifth round. He had some ankle thing going on. I think people that's true. You're talking about this year. And and but when we were in training camp, he kept talking about Hendershot and I go, well, I guess I better learn to spell

to guys, yeah, not misspelling. Yeah, and see what he looks like, you know, and uh, yeah, he's he's a funny dude. By the way. But both those guys, both both those guys were like four year starters in the Big Ten. Yeah, And and I think you look at that that come draft time, guys that can early on in their collegiate career play and start and get a lot of reps and then they do it for four years. They become leaders on their team, especially at the tight

end position like that. That's a big When you have outlet for a good team, then you're gonna get some some touches. And all of those tight ends people are realizing the tight ends. Well, I guess maybe Brady show them how the Cowboys because have showed them way back then. Tight Ends have always been important to a passing game, especially when you want to keep it keep it diverse. You don't want to be predictable. And we've always done

that here at the start. And I think McCarthy has talked about the fact that the tight end position other than the quarterback position. The tight end position is not only important, but one of the most difficult to make the transition from a mental standpoint because of all that you that's required of the tight end, whether it's in the run game, the pass game, whatever, A lot of tight ends of formal quarterbacks. Yeah, that's right. Do you reallyze and this note I would it would have gone

right by me. Hendershot and Billy Joe Ducree are the only two cowboy tight ends to rush for a touchdown on an offensive play. Because when we were in the press box and it's like, well, Eric Bjornson, Jay Novochek, well those were fake I think fake kicks, and they that was a staple Billy Joe Duprie on the reverse. Yeah, so yeah, to rush for actually rushed for one um. So yeah, I mean all right, So now you cannot assume that if they go two or three tight ends

that it's a run play. There you go, right, that is going to a running back. And they're becoming better blockers too, which is what needed to happen. Last year, the blocking at tight end was susceptible with here's the beauty of it. If you want to keep this thing together next year. I know. The beauty of it is the two rookies are not making much money, right and obviously Schultz's gonna make a lot of money and similar

to what he is right now. I think that I understand all the salary cap ramification and elsewhere, but it is too good of a chemistry in that room and on the field. Um that you got to take a long hard look at keeping Schultz around here, even though you got the guys that can you know, take his spot or whatever. It's just too good of a mix right now that you want to do what you can to keep it together, and maybe you can. Maybe Schultz understands that too, that hey, I got it pretty good here.

You know, if they offer me whatever, you know, this is working pretty well. Yeah, because think about it. I was trying to remember last time they had two productive pass catching tight ends. Like the second guy was always the Alfredo Roberts right, the blocking type dude. Um, well, Schultz was that guy when when when Joe was here and Joe was well, Schultz was supposed to be but his blocking, yeah, blocking became right. He's been up and down. He started off a hell of a blocker and he

was second. Was a story on him coming out of standard and then he became a pass became I think he lost weight. He's like, hey man, my mentality is changing. Yeah, you know so because he's a Stanford guy, he's smart enough to know that the receptions are going to get him the best franchise tag. All of a sudden he can't block anymore. Last year, like what the hell happened? But maybe those years when Witten was here, the second tight end knew they weren't throwing it to him if

they were both on the field, right. The Cowboys tried it back in the early nineties when they brought in Novacheck and then they brought in Rob a Rob A Walt and they said, oh free agents, right, and then he got hurt and it never came to fruition. Well, I remember how two tight ends worked when I was with the Giants and Novacheck, and I believe his name

was Marsh. He had two tight ends that were really good with with Arizona, Oh, with it before Novacheck got where he got here, Well A Walt was in there, they were that was the other guys where they had Marsh as well. That was the veteran marsh as well. Came from the Cardinals. Okay, and those those three tight ends, they were hard to deal with. I remember Nova check On. We get them on side kick and he grabs it and this fool almost scores a touchdown. I mean like,

I'm like, who is this guy? And as a tight end, you didn't really see that, you know. And I saw how athletic he was. And when he went to the Cowboys, I'm like, I remember that guy, all right. Okay, So here are the tight ends that went before Ferguson compliments of the Producers Supreme. Trey McBride was the first tight end that went in the second round. I know the Cowboys were high on him. They thought about him when they took Sam Williams, Jelanie Woods in the third round.

Who's with Indianapolis. Greg dulcitch Is with Denver went in the third round. Jeremy Ruckard from Ohio State went in the third round. They thought about trading up into the third round and maybe to get a guy like him. Kate Oughton went early fourth round of Tampa Bay. I think they liked they liked him. And then Bellinger went fourth round to the Giants. Charlie Kohler went right before Ferguson at one twenty eight and Ferguson went at one

twenty nine. There were seven tight ends taking before him. Isaiah Likely who's with the Ravens, went right after Ferguson two. That was how good that tight end class was in that second through fourth round. So anyway, they hit on those two and hopefully you know, and in fact on

the Schultz contract deal. You know, with these these guys being rookies this year, you can go a couple of years with Schultz, you know, making all the money, and maybe you give him a multi year deal instead of franchising Ryan because I figured out if you had franchised him two years in a row, it would have came out to the average of what the tight end in Cleveland ended up signing for the got franchised. Um, he just did something. The joke, yeah, joke, yeah, I want

I was just getting ahead of myself, that's all. And it's a Salute to Service weekend in the NFL. Coming up. It is the Sunday so I need to wear my pin the camera would be good? That would be good. Yep. And Cowboys are honoring Medal of Honor

recipients at the game on Sunday night. I'm looking for the email right now and I'll get the details for you when I find it. But great, great thing that the Cowboys in the NFL are doing this weekend is salute to service, which, by the way, the Medal of Honor Museum is on the way right in Arlington. Got rid of the Little League ballpark and the starting construction of the museum next to or I guess just before you get to at and T Stadium. And let's see,

I got a little more information on that. The national campaign to build the museum in America's heartland in Arlington, Texas, and a monument in Washington, d C. And recognition of the service and sacrifice of America's Medal of Honor recipients was part of that too, So very good. I didn't know we were the heartland. We are the heartland of America right here. I thought that was more like Kansas City, Braska. But I guess it's stretches. Yeah, it stretches like the

tackle box does in college football. Oh, something happen in the Missouri game the Kentucky game. Oh hey, so when the snap went thirty five yards over the punter's head and he recovered it at the three and the Missouri special teams guy's going to make a tackle and he gets the punt off and they roughed him. You only get one rants show? Never mind, I think we've talked about this on the show before, and we have. They just have a short memory. All right, Well that's because

we didn't care. Now, I got my own problems at Grand Selected. You got your problems with grandmlin I got I met o you. So you going to bowl game? As a matter of fact, we're are going to a ball and Missouri is too because they beat Arkansas. All right, where do you go? Uh? Moving on? Now? You mentioned an overtime game that you watched yesterday in the NFL. What else caught your eye yesterday in the NFL? What else called my eye? What else should kiss my eye?

Talk to me? Well? The Eagles? The fact that the Eagles ran for three hundred yards. Can somebody tell me where the Packer's defense was yesterday, especially on on Jalen hurt scrambles. I don't think they got the memo that he's good, he can run, tuck it and run, I mean, and that they'll call that place even even Dak could have gone that length with a bad leg that the end.

Do you think they what? What wasn't it? The Colts game when he ran it in for the winning touchdown at the end right, and it was like last quarterback draw where the red Sea party in the middle. It was beautiful. Yeah, so you would hurt had one hundred and fifty seven yards rushing on seventeen cars in the first quarter. He had one hundred and twenty. Yeah, he had more rushing yards than he had passing yards. He had one fifty seven rushing, one fifty three passing. And see,

that's that gives me. I see, I'm watching them now, and I'm watching the nine and last year I had my doubts going into the playoffs because they looked more confident than the Cowboys. This year, I don't. I don't feel that way. I don't care who comes here, I don't care where we go. Actually, I dare say, because I would compare this Cowboys team to that team they went to Philadelphia and with Kmart Kelvin Martin and returned that return from touchdown. That team, to me, it reminds

me of this team. They're right there on the verge. I can't remember that team until they beat Washington was six and five, and then they won the final five games and with Steve Burline coming in in the second third quarter of the Washington game. I guess he gets a save because Troy had him in the lead with the hill Mary at the end of the half, which Aikman hated having to throw those because they always get

intercepted and it ruins your quarterback. Rady, and he was like, I guess at halftime he went in and told Jimmy, he goes, you know, maybe the worms starting to turn here. You know, we actually completed one y because he hated when they did it at the end of the day, and it gave them a spark. It gave them a spark and came Mart ended that with that point return. Yep, and that wasn't an easy point return. He got here a couple of times and he thanks straight up the

middle and thanks to my man with the block. And I said, he was the funniest dude. Whatever, I swear that's your favorite. I think he's your favorite. I loved him. He was great. So this this team once again, this team is reminded me of that to where you know last year, well, you know, we just really crapped the bed against the Niners. I just don't see us even after writing the ship this year. What we have done the same thing this year, just giving up unnecessary yogis

while against the run. I think this team has figured it out. We've never made the adjustment once we started giving up running yardage. We never made the adjustment last year. This year, I see us making the adjustment, and just in time. As far as I'm concerned, I think this team is more apt to be the team that carries the boom box on their shoulder teams, which is what Debo did last year. And but we well we might not have it, but we have it here, and we

got it here. I truly believe that that's what this team has and and they've been what the word says

coming out of the locker room resilient. Yeah. I mean they're losing this game thirteen to seven a halftime, right, two interceptions, and they overcome the two interceptions, They overcome the deficit, they overcome the illness and the fact that you're playing for four days later, and that when you asked me, what do I remember about the game, That's really what I was going when you said earlier, that's really what I remember about the game is us overcoming mistakes.

Those two interceptions last year, those two interceptions, We're gonna lose that game, right. We're not doing that this year because, first of all, our offensive line, they are handling and controlling the pace of the entire game. Our offensive line is that good, and our defensive line and linebackers with the ability to stop the run these last couple of games. To me, that gives me a lot of confidence in this team. So who is the player of the game

on Thursday. That's an easy call. It's Parsons. I can't go past anyone else, I mean, unless you want Cee Lamb showing his butt. How about Dak Prescott. He was ten of sixteen for one hundred and sixteen yards. I think the first half. Let me see, I got it right here. He was ten of sixteen, one sixteen, two interceptions. He finishes the game twenty one of thirty for two sixty one two touchdowns and still the two interceptions. So despite the interceptions, he ended up with a ninety one

point nine one quarterback rating. He was awfully good the second half. And you know, like I said, those two interceptions, don't it didn't really bother? Yeah, it wasn't really to me. I felt that even with those two interceptions. Not just that, but this entire team was still feeling really good about themselves.

It was almost like I got this idea that they had scored forty points the game before, and it was like they were in a hurry to score forty again and they were not willing to kind of grind things out, which you have to do on Thanksgiving, right because you're playing in just four days later. And he tried to hit some perfect passes that you know they worked perfect. Okay, my MVP. It's the same as I haven't don't give

me mess whack of moles. Oh no, no, it's the same as a message I just got from Zeke is the MVP with the defense. Zeke is the MVP with the defense in that game. That's right. I could take that. And it's those long, punishing drives and he was he was. He's the representative of that the offensive line that you talk about and everything, and the way he ran the ball and Pollard too, But that that's seventy five yard

drive to start the third quarter. Take command of that game after a ninety three yard drive earlier and another long eighty yard drive later when you had the defense, they were they were controlling things, not with lucky plays. You know, they controlled it with consistency. You know, they they played they almost forced the Giants to do what the Cowboys wanted them to do. And when you have a defensive line, defensive front, I'm counting those linebackers as well,

that whole front seven. To me, they never seemed out of sorts at all doing the ball game right. There was never any time, well man that gashness and make what's going on and we're confused? That was never that moment doing the ball And you know they had a couple of guys make plays that don't play that much. When jay Ron Curse went out, they threw right at

mcquamu and he broke the ball up. And then because before and because of the illnesses and things, uh Nashan Wright was active, Kelvin Joseph was down with the illness and he made a special teams play and I said, wow, we hadn't seen him play hardly at all, and he stepped up and made a play. So they had some young guys doing things and Armstrong continuing to continue. But I had a mail bag question about you know, you

know you always mentioned Bill Parcels after Thanksgiving. So what do you think of this team and what's the difference between last year? And I said the offensive line is playing better. They are. They were having problems last year protecting and running the football, and this year we've seen them grow to the point now where all right of Tyring comes back, okay, and we got room for him.

But the offensive line is playing really well right now? Okay, where it's twelve forty nine, No way, it's we're in overtime. How did that happen? We went to overtime, extra time, extra time, all right, but we knew it in that game. You never know how much more you'll welcome to overtime, all right, So it's time to move on from talk at you again tomorrow here on Mick Shot Joe Cowboys. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
